A Little Summer Romance

P1180146

We just attended Val and Tory's elegant garden wedding...and it reminded me of the delicate Love Script die from the Valentine Collection.  It's perfect with the Delphinium and Stems dies - and a backdrop of gold-embossed Rings and Puddles.  Jean Okimoto here - let's get started!

Memory Box Products

  • Love Script 98639
  • Rings and Puddles 88506
  • Delphinium 88571
  • Stems 88570
  • Parchment Cardstock (5.5" square card)

Kaleidacolor, Radiant Neons and Versamark inkpads are from Imagine Crafts.

Spritz watercolor paper lightly with water.  Ink a 4" soft rubber brayer with Caribbean Sea Kaleidacolor, then spritz the brayer.  Roll the inks onto the damp paper and let the colors blend for a few minutes.  Heat-set the inks.

Stencil Delphinium with Radiant Neons Electric Purple and emboss it with Iridescent Powder.  Stencil Stems with Memento Luxe Olive Grove and heat-set it.  The stems are much shorter than they are on the stencil, but I wanted to capture the effect of the flowers against the watercolored background.  Mask off some of the solid spots, then stencil Rings and Puddles with Versamark.  Emboss it with detail gold powder.

Attach a 1/2" wide strip of Scor-tape horizontally down the center of gold mirror cardstock and diecut Love Script.  Assemble the card and add iridescent lavender sequins.

Butterfly Favor Boxes...and an Easter Card

Jean Okimoto-Butterfly Favor Box-Memory Box

Looking for a quick, pretty - and impressive -  party favor for a special brunch or celebration?  Make Butterfly Favor Boxes and fill them with sweet treats, then make a quick Easter Card.  Jean Okimoto here - with two Spring projects today.

Memory Box Products

  • Butterfly Favor Box 98771
  • NEW Swirl Butterfly 98894
  • Vivienne Butterfly 98625
  • Dots Signature Prints - Thistle, Key Lime, Snapdragon, Squash, Bubblegum
  • Cardstock - Juniper, Granny Smith, Violet, Mango, Raspberry
  • Metal Adapter Plate

Jean Okimoto-Butterfly Favor Boxes-Memory Box

Cut Butterfly Favor Boxes from Memory Box Dots Signature Prints.

P1160811

Snip through each wing on the scorelines - halfway down from the top on one wing, and halfway up from the bottom on the other wing.  Fold the box on the remaining scorelines.  Begin assembling the box by attaching the side tab.  Fold the bottom flaps towards the center and attach them with tape.

P1160807

Fill the boxes.  Here's a quick tip - after attaching tape between the "cover flaps," clamp them with tweezers to secure the tape.  Next, partially (and carefully!) cross the two snipped wing centers and slot one into the other to close the box.

Use the Metal Adapter Plate and the other plates required for thin metal dies to cutter the delicate butterfly overlays. Cut the Swirl Butterfly and antennae from Violet, Juniper and Raspberry Cardstock.  Cut the Vivienne Butterfly and antennae from Granny Smith and Mango Cardstock.

Attach the butterfly overlays and antennae to the boxes with 1/8" wide Scor-Tape - use a pin to push any excess tape behind the diecuts.

And - double-dipping now, here's an Easter card for you...

Jean Okimoto-Memory Box-Fresh Foliage-Perched Reed Bird-Mesh Designer Stencil

Memory Box Products

  • Mesh Designer Stencil 88517
  • Fresh Foliage 98502
  • Perched Reed Bird 98160
  • Jack O Lantern and Granny Smith Cardstock
  • Signature Prints - Violet, Squash and Pool Distressed Dots
  • Signature Prints - Bubblegum and Mango Dots
  • Aloe Notecard and Envelope

Imagine Crafts Inkpads

  • Brilliance Pearlescent Thyme
  • Memento Tangelo

Other Supplies

  • Yellow Felt attached to adhesive label paper
  • Egg Punch
  • Screwpunch (chick's eye, backed with black cardstock)

Attach two of the punched eggs to the card then stencil Mesh over them for a bit of dimension.

Diecut Perched Reed Bird twice - from yellow felt and again from Jack O Lantern Cardstock.  Snip off both tails and a tiny bit of the felt feet.  Layer the felt bird (now a chick!) over the cardstock diecut, then snip off a tiny bit of the cardstock feet.

Big thanks to everyone from the Stencil It - Beyond the Basics class at Impress. Hope you enjoyed learning different ways to use your Memory Box designs.

Glittered Wedding Cake!

It is no secret that I LOVE Glitter....my Nonna didn't call me "Sparkle Farkle" as a child for no reason. So I decided to do a class focusing on Glitter as the main component in the cards. The Magnificent Cake die was just perfect for what I had in mind. I used white and silver microfine glitter and added a pearl and some irridescent gems. I hope you like the card and if you want to learn how to make it come to either one of the two Glitter Mania classes I am teaching at The Stamp Addict in San Diego on March 9th or 11th.

The other cards in the class will also be using Memory Box dies, so you know they will be fun!

Key to My Heart

One of the things I love best about Memory Box papers is that they are very versatile. For instance, did you know that the Mistletoe collection may have been made with Christmas in mind, but over half the papers can be used on non-Christmas cards. Case in point:
