Halloween Forest Scene by Jean Okimoto

 

Create a Halloween forest scene with the familiar favorite Ghosts in the Forest set and the new Autumn Pumpkin.  Add a creature from the Poppystamps Whittle Scary Guys too!  Hi, Jean here a mix of old favorites and new designs from our fall collections.

Cut the green and white Garland 6x6 floral print with the largest A2 Rectangle Frames Die.  Cut the rectangle with Ghosts in the Forest. Attach the outer edges of the rectangle to a greenish/gray side-folded A2 card.  

Cut the small ghost - from the Ghosts in the Forest set - from the textured side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  

Cut Autumn Pumpkin from bright orange Sunny Orange Collection sheet.  Cut the leaf and tendril from green cardstock.

Cut the Poppystamps Whittle Scary Guys dinosaur  from bright green cardstock.  Attach scraps of black cardstock behind their faces.

Attach the diecuts to the card - use foam tape for the dinosaur and the ghost's head.  Add orange Bright Jewels.

Halloween Lineup by Jean Okimoto

A lineup of Halloween icons fills a slimline card from end to end on an "everything" card.  Hi, Jean here with a very layered collection of fall diecuts featuring my favorite ghosts with new designs from our latest release.

Cut kraft cardstock with the 7-⅞" x 2-⅞" Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangle die.  Attach it to a kraft slimline card (8-½" x 3-⅝").

Cut Layered Greenery Stems from black cardstock and the black Glitzy Glitter Pad 6x6.  

Cut the ghosts - from the Ghosts in the Forest set - from the textured side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Attach scraps of black cardstock behind the faces.

Cut Boiling Cauldron from Black Glossy Cardstock.  Cut the dripping overflow from the lime green Graceful Garden Glitter Pad 6x6.  Cut the standing bubbles from the chartreuse Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Assemble the cauldron and bubbles - I trimmed the bottom edge of the tall bubbles a bit.

Cut Autumn Pumpkin from the dark orange 6x6 in the Sunny Orange Collection.  Cut the leaves and tendril from the chartreuse Rainbow Reflections sheet.  

Cut Large Layered Witch Hat from black cardstock.  Cut the vertical trim from the black Glitzy Glitter Pad sheet.  Cut the hatband from the orange Rainbow Reflections sheet.

Assemble the stems, pumpkin, and hat.  Attach the diecuts to the Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangle - use foam tape for the ghosts' heads.

Halloween seems like a great reason to fill a card from one end to the other with a variety of diecuts.  Our Fall '23 Collection has the perfect designs for that!

Ghosty Garden Greetings by Jean Okimoto

Here's another mix of new designs from our Fall '23 Collection and favorite Halloween icon dies from my Memory Box stash.  The new Boiling Cauldron and Layered Greenery Stems set the scene for drifting bats and floating ghosts.  Hi, Jean here - Happy Friday! 

Cut Layered Greenery Stems from black cardstock and the black Glitzy Glitter Pad 6x6 sheet.  Assemble five stems -  save the others for another project.

Cut Boiling Cauldron from the black Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Cut the bubbly cauldron rim and extra bubbles from the chartreuse Rainbow Reflections sheet.  Cut the rising bubbles from a chartreuse Graceful Garden Glitter Pad 6x6 sheet.  Assemble the cauldron - I trimmed the top rim of the cauldron a bit and lowered the chartreuse pieces.

Cut the ghosts - from the new Poppystamps Whittle Scary Guys set - from Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Attach scraps of black cardstock behind the eyes.

Cut the bats - from the Haunted Entrance Dome Layer set - from black cardstock.

Cut the dark orange 6x6 from the Sunny Orange Collection with the  2-¼" wide Curved Cap Pinpoint Layers die.  This is a great die set - perfect for background layers that highlight - but don't compete with -  the key design elements.

Attach the diecuts to a top-folded dark orange 6x6 card.  

Colorful glittery, shimmery and matte cardstock layers and great fall diecuts make it easy to create fun Halloween scenes. Surprise everyone with Halloween cards this October!

Bubble, Bubble…Boiling Cauldron in the Forest by Jean Okimoto

Update a familiar ghostly forest scene with the new Boiling Cauldron from the Fall '23 Collection.  The friendly ghosts are a safe distance from the bubbly pot!  Hi, Happy Friday - Jean here with another mix of favorite dies and new designs from our latest release.

Cut taupey-gray cardstock with the 3-¾" wide Curved Cap Pinpoint Layers die.  Cut it with the Ghosts in the Forest die.  Cut the ghosts from Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Attach scraps of black cardstock behind the eyes.  Attach a dot of the orange Glitzy Glitter 6x6 behind their mouths.

Cut Boiling Cauldron from the black Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Cut the bubbly cauldron rim and 4 loose bubbles from the orange Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  The loose bubbles became pumpkin lights to brighten the background here.  Cut the standing bubbles from the orange Glitzy Glitter 6x6.

Use a corner punch to round the top corners of a dark gray top-folded A2 card.  Attach the diecuts - prop the top of the ghosts up with foam dots so they'll lean forward.

Mixing, matching and layering "old" and just-released design elements is a great way to get the most mileage from your Memory Box stash and celebrate Halloween '23!

In Full Bloom by Jean Okimoto

Flowers bloom and evolve throughout the season - so do diecuts!  The versatile boldly-beautiful Magnolia Floral Stem easily grows from bud to bloomer.  Flowers can sometimes look very different from their seed packet pictures - or their die envelopes.  Stems are longer, buds bloom and leaves grow in different directions.   Hi, Jean here sharing a few ideas to change the look of a spring magnolia as we welcome summer.

The original spring magnolia is shown on the envelope.  Here's our sunny yellow summer version.

Cut Magnolia Floral Stem from Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Cut an extra stem.  Daub, sponge or brush the pieces with Sunflower Yellow Brilliance, Pearlescent Thyme Brilliance and Vintage Sepia VersaFine.  Trim and join the stem pieces where it'll be hidden by the bottom of the big leaf.

Tape the 2-¼", 1-¾" and 1-¼" wide A2 Rectangle Frames Dies to the dark green leaf print from the Magnolia Grove 6x6 pack and diecut them.  Leave them in the die and tape them together to create an inlaid background.

Cut the small dragonfly - from the Birch Press Design Simple Dragonfly Contour Layers set - from the gold Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Assemble just the wings.  It's easier to attach the delicate body to the card, then glue the wings over it.

Attach the diecuts to a natural A6 card (6-¼" x 4-½") - use foam tape for the tips of the leaves and petals.  Attach the dragonfly wings.

Attach the coppery-gold Treasure Chest Fairy Gemstones.  Cut an A6-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

The Magnolia Collection of buds, blossoms, stems and leaves is perfect for transitioning the seasons as summer approaches.  Add brighter colors and full bloomers to your unique cards for celebrations and everyday greetings.

Hi everyone.  I have another mixed media card today.  I had so much fun with the last one I came up with another design.  I used one of my favorite of all time dies, Fresh Foliage with the Tall Frilly Leafs Steams (a new favorite).  These types of designs are quick and easy to make while allowing you to be a little messy.  

Background:

I used Open Studio Watercolor paper and trimmed it down slightly less then 4" x 5 1/4".  I used Oxide Sprays in Villainous Potion and Hickory Smoke with the "smooshing" technique with the plastic packaging from a die. I started by misting the paper with water. Then spray a few drops of Villainous Potion on the plastic with a little water and smoosh onto watercolor paper.  Heat dry.  Repeat this process with Hickory Smoke then Villainous Potion until you have a background you like.   I then splattered with white and black paint.  Heat set dry all the way.  Next white heat emboss the word Hugs from the All the Happiness stamp set randomly on the back ground.  Making sure to have some of the words go off the sides.  Finally stamp portions of any of the full sentiments, making sure not to stamp it completely,  from the same stamp set in black pigment ink.  This is a way to introduce the black again but not over powering the background.  It will tie in the focal image.

Focal Image:

Die cut the Fresh Foliage and Tall Frilly Leaf Stems from black and vellum paper.  Stamp the "with love" sentiment from the Big and little Reverse Words stamp set from a matching, pigment in, and die cut with the coordinating date.  The pigment ink I used was VersaFine Clair.

Assembly:

Trim black card stock to 4" x 5 1/4" and adhere it behind the background panel. Adhere to a white A2 top folding card.  Glue the vellum Tall Frilly Leaf Stems cuts then the black die cuts on top.  Repeat with the Fresh Foliage.  Adhere the sentiment with foam tape over the middle lover portion of the foliage.

Transfer, Emboss and Frame a Marvelous Magnolia by Jean Okimoto

Need a quick card?  Transfer, diecut and 3D-emboss a Marvelous Magnolia and add a shimmery Crystal Frame background.  A diecut greeting and Autumn Fairy Crystals top it off.  Hi, Jean here with a garden greeting to start the weekend.

Cut a Magnolia Rub-on Transfer and its paper liner - with a generous border.  Carefully remove the paper liner and tap the transfer onto heavy smooth white cardstock.  Place it between two sheets of printer paper to protect the design. Run it through the diecut machine (without the die!) with the plates used for cutting.  Carefully remove the top plastic liner.  Memory Box Rub-on Transfer sets include a wooden craft stick to burnish the transfer - but the rolling pressure of a diecut machine does a great job too!

Diecut the design with the matching die from the 3D embossing folder set.  Cut a second piece from heavy white cardstock and layer it for dimension.

Place the diecut in the Marvelous Magnolia 3D Embossing Folder and run it through the machine using the plates required for 3D embossing.

I used an ink-blended piece of Open Studio Watercolor Paper from my stash and spritzed it with more water and daubed it with a tissue to blot some of the inks for a lighter background.  Lightly spritzed it with Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Sprtiz too.  Let it dry, then cut it with the large Crystal Frames die.  Attach the frame and its offcut to a white side-folded 5-½" square card.  The peaked Crystal Frame complements and resembles the top of the blossom without being too match-y.

Stamp the greeting - from the Friends and Family Clear Stamp Set - on a pale lavender 6x6 from the Twilight Purple Collection with Purple Delight VersaFine Clair.  Dry the ink, then trim the greeting with the 1-½" Square Basics die.

Assemble the card  - use foam tape for the greeting.  Add purple Autumn Fairy Crystals.  Cut a 5-½" square of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.  Square cards require additional postage and handling.

Two Cards- Freshwater Fish & Confetti Dot Hot Foil Plate by Angie Cimbalo

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with two cards featuring new products from the latest release.  

My first card is a slimline card using two fish from the combination "Freshwater Fish" stencil and embossing folder set.  The background for my card was ink blended with lots of blues.  Once it dried, I ran it through my hot foil machine using the "Confetti Dot" hot foil plate and some gold foil.  Here's a closer look:

I colored the fish with Distress Inks and watercolor markers and then fussy cut them out.  Next I splashed some water on the background to make more dots on it.  I added the two fish and then a sentiment from "You Anchor Me" stamp set.  It was stamped in brown ink on a stitched rectangle die.  Lastly I added water droplets from Memory Box and added the blue panel to a slimline size card base.  Here's one last look:

I made this card the same way except I used very little ink on the background and I used Memory Box watercolor card stock.

Hello and welcome!  It's Angie here today with a mini slimline card featuring the new Plumed Gypsy Feather die and the Hugs die.  Here's a closer look at my card:

I cut the feather several times from white and black card stock and also from a watercolor panel that I had smooshed with Distress Inks.  If you look above at the bottom feather you can really see the texture of the watercolor paper!

Next I paper pieced different black and colored pieced into two stacked white feathers.  Then I arranged one on the top of my mini slimline card base and cut off excess.  I used the left over pieces to add to the bottom of the card.  

For the sentiment I layered a strip of watercolored paper on top of a black strip, then added the sentiment.  The sentiment was layered.   The bottom shadow die cut 2 from black and one from watercolor panel.  To get the black shadow effect glue the 3 dies together but offset the black ones (one on the top, one on the bottom.)  Then add the white "hugs" die on top and add it over the strips on the front of the card.

Freshwater Fish Stories by Jean Okimoto

Say hello to Friday with embossed, stenciled and diecut Freshwater Fish. They're from coordinating sets of a 3D embossing folder, dies and 2-layer stencils.  Hi, Jean here with a white and bright design from our spring collection - and a new pinpoint cover plate from Birch Press Design.

Spritz both sides of watercolor paper with a fine mist of water.  Emboss it with the Freshwater Fish 3D Embossing Folder.

Use a sponge, dauber or blending brush to color the fish with the Freshwater Fish Stencil Set and Distress Oxides.  Colors used here are salvaged patina, iced spruce, twisted citron, peacock feathers, broken china and shaded lilac.  Dry the inks, then diecut the fish.  Smaller accent pieces are also included in the sets.

Brayer the fish with VersaMark - use a clean, well-inked pad.  Heat-emboss them with detail clear powder for a glossy highlighted texture, like fresh-caught fish.  Add black Sharpie marker dots for the eyes.

Cut white and black cardstock with the End of My Rope die - save the ropes for another project.  Diecut the white interior offcut with the Birch Press Design Pinpoint Contour Plate.  Trim a tiny amount from the edges of the black offcut and attach it behind the white layer.  The dark backing emphasizes the pinpoint pattern - it makes a difference!

Cut a blue 6x6 from the Glitzy Glitter Pad with Hello Rush Script.  Cut watercolor paper with the die too and layer it behind the glittered greeting for extra dimension.

Attach the diecuts to a top-folded 5-½" square white card. Add turquoise Christmas Fairy Dewdrops.  Cut a 5-½" square of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.  Square cards require extra postage.

Freshwater Fish are perfect for embossing and diecutting from Memory Box mirror cardstock too. The Rainbow Reflections and Vintage Pastel 6x6 pads have a wide range of beautiful colors that capture the details of this great fish trio.  Add them to birthday, retirement and Father's Day cards for that special guy.
