Let's Shell-ebrate!
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_1949

Good morning everyone!  Today I have a fun and easy beach themed card.

I started by applying Distress Oxide Inks to my craft mat, misting them with water and then smooshing watercolor paper into inks.  I dried my paper in between applying more ink to get the color I liked.

IMG_1911

Next, I glued the background to a black cardstock mat and used foam tape to adhere this to a white card base.

I die cut the shell outline from white cardstock and the solid shell shape from vellum.  The outline was glued to the vellum die cut and adhered to the card.

I white heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of black cardstock and glued this onto the shell.

IMG_1950

To finish the card, I added some clear fairy drops to look like water droplets.

That's it for today!  Have a great day!

Hello with Lavender Bouquet
by Angie Cimbalo

7.20 1

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with Hello card made with the new "Lavender Bouquet" dies released this past May.  Here's a closer look at my card:

7.20 2

Here's how I made my card:

1)  I die cut the lavender stems and colored them with Zig Clean Color markers

2)  I took a piece of watercolor card and smooshed purple ink with water on it then added splatter with the same ink.

3)  I added all the stems to the watercolor card stock and then trimmed .75" from the bottom.

4)  I added the watercolor card to a card base that had striped washi tape across the bottom.  Next I added a few gems and a heat embossed sentiment from "Big and Little Words" stamp set.

Here's one last look:

I hope you like my card for today!  I had so much fun creating it!  Be sure to check out all the new Memory Box goodies on their website HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Island Vacation Seascape by Jean Okimoto

P1018156

Tropical getaways are a popular theme this summer - and the Island Vacation Collection is the perfect mix of nautical and tropical designs.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a summer slimline ready for any occasion.

Cut the Grand Spiral Shell background from the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Spray a light mist of water into the air and pull the diecut through the moisture to prep it for 3D embossing.  Repeat with the other side of the paper.  Pressure-emboss it with the Ocean Fish 3D Embossing Folder - with the smoother side of the paper facing the more debossed (sunken) side of the folder.   Leave the diecut in the die - it'll be used as a stencil.

Stencil it with Distress Oxides - abandoned coral, twisted citron and salvaged patina.  Dry the inks.  The combination of pressure embossing and stenciling thru the metal die adds extra dimension.  Pressure-embossing also makes it easier to layer the pieces - the detailed overlay settles right into the embossed design.

Cut the delicate Grand Spiral Shell from a white 6x6 in the Delicate Pastels Glitter Pad.

Cut the straight rope and the heavily-textured loopy rope from the white Delicate Pastels Glitter Pad sheet too.

Cut the fish - from the new Ocean Fish 3D Embossing Folder & Cutting Dies - from the turquoise 6x6 in the Rainbow Reflections Glitter Pad. Place the fish in the embossing folder and emboss it using the plate(s) required for your machine.

P1018177

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½").  Add 3 of the biggest Clear Fairy Drops.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing

Fresh tropical pastels, glitter and mirror cardstock - and the Island Vacation Collection - make it easy to create happy, refreshing designs for summer sharing.  Thanks for visiting our blog!  Have a great weekend - see you next week!

Sending Heartfelt Prayers
by Angie Cimbalo

6.30 1

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with a sympathy card using some of the newly released floral dies.

Here's a closer look:

6.30 2

To make my card I first swiped pink and green ink pads direct to watercolor card to create a textured background.  I die cut the flowers and stems using "Graceful Poppy Stems" and "Ruffled Poppy Stems" dies, from pink and green card stock and used some watercolor markers to add a little interest to them.  After putting the flowers together, I arranged them on the front of the card and added a heat embossed sentiment from "Big & Little Words" stamp set.  Lastly I added a few gems.

Here's one last look:

6.30 3

I hope you like my sympathy card for today.  I always find these difficult to make because it's such a sad occasion to create for.  Hopefully, I've given you some inspiration to create cards like this when you need them.

Be sure to check out the entire new release from Memory Box!  Thanks for stopping by!

Sunshine Daisy Stems Over Back-Painted Vellum by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxSunshineDaisyStems, MemoryBoxAutumnFairyJewels, MemoryBoxRectangleBasics, MemoryBoxWatercolorPaper, MemoryBoxPoshHelloFoilPlateAndDie, FlowerDiecuts, HotFoiling, FoiledCards, HotFoilAndDiecut, HandmadeCards, DIYCards, VellumCards, InkBlendedBackgrounds, JeanOkimoto, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

The new Sunshine Daisy Stems can create the look of patient paper-piecing or "coloring inside the lines."  This is a lot easier!   Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a vellum back-painting technique - instead of attaching many tiny petals or trying to stay inside the lines.  MemoryBoxSunshineDaisyStems, MemoryBoxAutumnFairyJewels, MemoryBoxRectangleBasics, MemoryBoxWatercolorPaper, MemoryBoxPoshHelloFoilPlateAndDie, FlowerDiecuts, HotFoiling, FoiledCards, HotFoilAndDiecut, HandmadeCards, DIYCards, VellumCards, InkBlendedBackgrounds, JeanOkimoto, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Attach a large piece of doublestick tape to white cardstock - Couture Creations tape was used here.  The taped side is the backside and the cardstock is the front.  Cut the 'open' Sunshine Daisy Stems die (shown on the left) three times from the front.  Remove the offcuts and save just the delicate outlines.

Cut heavy white vellum with the 3-¾" x 2-½" Rectangle Basics die.  Attach the three cardstock Daisy Stems to the vellum - the double-stick tape makes it quick and easy. Press Distress Oxides onto an acrylic block and paint the petals from the backside of the vellum - don't add any water.   Ink colors used here are dried marigold, squeezed lemonade, abandoned coral and kitsch flamingo.

Blend abandoned coral, kitsch flamingo and squeezed lemonade Distress Oxides on the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Spray it with a light spritz of water, then let it dry. Trim it with the 3-¼" x 2" Rectangle Basics die.

Attach narrow strips of double-stick tape to the backside of the several painted vellum petals  and attach the vellum to the watercolor paper.  The tape won't show through the painted petals.

Foil black cardstock with gold foil and the Posh Hello Hot Foil Plate.  Diecut it.

Attach the diecuts to a pink A-2 card.  Add the orange Autumn Fairy Jewels.

Sunshine Daisy Stems is very versatile - diecut stencils or pressure-emboss with it too. Or simply diecut and layer the blossoms for spring or summer cards.

Thanks for visiting  - hope you're enjoying the May Collection ideas from our Design Team!

New Stella Butterfly and Background from the May Collection by Jean Okimoto

The beautiful new Stella Butterfly and Background set is perfect with a leafy, flowery background. Try it with a Bubble Border too!  Add a diecut circle greeting and iridescent Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones to complete the look.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with another new butterfly set from our May Collection.

MemoryBoxStellaButterflyAndBackground, MemoryBoxBubbleBorder, MemoryBoxVintagePastelMirrorPad, MemoryBox FreshAqua6x6, MemoryBoxTwilightPurple6x6, MemoryBoxCircleBasics, MemoryBoxSlimBasicRectangleLayers, MemoryBoxWinterFantasyFairyGemstones, MemoryBoxFriendsAndFamilyClearStamps, JeanOkimoto, HandmadeCards, SlimlineCards, ButterflyCards, ButterflyDiecuts, BorderDiecuts, MetallicCardstock, MirrorCardstock, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Cut the detailed Stella Butterfly from the shiny aqua Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad sheet.  Cut the solid Background from a Fresh Aqua 6x6 sheet.  Cut the antennae/body from a gold Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad sheet.  Assemble the butterfly.

Cut a pale lavender 6x6 from the Twilight Purple Collection with the 1-⅞" wide Slim Basics Rectangles die.  Cut it with Bubble Border.  Trim the excess from the short ends.

I used a sheet of ink-blended and gold-spritzed Open Studio Watercolor Paper for the background.  Cut it with the 2-⅛" wide Slim Basics Rectangles die.  Trimming layers with the Slim Basics Rectangles dies saves time and eliminates guessing -  and those wonky edges.

Stamp the greeting - from the Friends and Family Clear Stamp Set - on the pale lavender 6x6 with Purple Delight VersaFine Clair.  Dry the ink and cut it with the 1-½" Circle Basics die.

Attach the diecuts to a lavender slimline card (3-½" x 8-½") - attach foam tape to the center of the butterfly and let the wings appear to be floating over the background.  Attach the greeting circle with foam tape too.  Add the lightest Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Hope you're loving the May Collection as much as we enjoy sharing our newest designs with you!  Thanks for visiting - see you again this weekend.

A Trio of Ava Butterflies from the May Collection by Jean Okimoto

P1016439

Send caring thoughts and special hugs with a trio of the new Ava Butterflies.  They're diecut from pearlescent 6x6's in the Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad - and perfect when you need a really quick card.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with another slimline design and a bit of rescued background paper from my stash.

P1016428 3

Cut Ava Butterflies from the pale blue, peach and aqua Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad 6x6 sheets.

Sponge the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper with salvaged patina, spun sugar and broken china Distress Oxides.  Add a light spritz of water and let the inks blend a bit.  Heat-set it, then cut it with the smallest Stylish Rectangle Trio die.

Here's my favorite way to align and assemble the new Hugs Daily Script greeting.  Attach Scor-tape to the top of white cardstock and diecut the solid background.  Cut the detailed letters from a teal 6x6 in the Fresh Aqua Collection.  Remove the diecut pieces, then place the letters back into the die. (That's easier than pulling the offcuts out!)  Save the tape liner and press the adhesive-covered background onto the letters. Use the saved tape liner to press the letters firmly onto the adhesive.  Cover the remaining exposed adhesive with Imagine's Iridescent Embossing Powder, tap the excess off, then heat-emboss the greeting.  It'll be straight, completely adhered and sparkly!

P1016457

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-½" x 8-½") - use foamtape at the centers of the butterflies and let the wings lift at the outer edges.  Add turquoise Bright Jewels.

Thanks for visiting - have a great weekend!

A New Release – Butterfly Birthday Wishes from the May 2022 Collection by Jean Okimoto

P1016162

Meet our newest release - the May 2022 Collection of beautiful butterflies, gorgeous flowers - and the introduction of our new hot foil plates for your cards, layouts, and mixed media projects. We're creating spring and summer projects to inspire you - and can't wait to share them with you!

Hello, Jean Okimoto here with the first of many new designs we'll be creating in the coming weeks.  The new hot foil products are designed with the same precision and attention to detail that Dave Brethauer devotes to the dies - so you know they'll be a great addition to your Memory Box Collection.

Let's start with the new Sunburst Hot Foil Plate - it's bold, detailed and perfect for any celebration.  It'll be great for the holidays too!  Prepare your foiling equipment and supplies as recommended by the manufacturers.  Foil the delicate sunburst on black paper or cardstock. Trim it to a 4" square.

Hot-foil the new Posh Birthday Wishes on white cardstock.

Color the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper with watery, overlapping layers of the inks from the Melon Melody Kaleidacolor multicolor inkpad or any of your favorite inks.   Dry the inks, then spritz it with a light mist of Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz.  Dry the spritz.  Cut the paper with the new Intricate Mini Butterflies - a collection of very cool detailed designs.

Cut white cardstock to 11" x 4-½".  Score it at 6" to create a 5" indented card front.

P1016177 3

Attach the foiled sunburst and greeting to the card - foam tape the left ⅔'s of the greeting and let the remainder of the greeting extend over the edge of the card front.

Attach 6 butterflies to the card front - and 1 butterfly on the opposite edge.

Hope you like butterflies and flowers - they're great for any occasion and in any combination of colors, textures and sizes.

Thanks for visiting our blog - see you again on Wednesday with more designs from our newest release.  Have a great weekend...and Happy Mother's Day to everyone celebrating!

Hello Friend
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_1583

Good morning everyone!  Today I have another spring themed card for you which features some bright colored flowers and foliage.

IMG_1584

I die cut the flowers and leaves from white cardstock, and used Distress Oxide Inks to add color to them.  I used Gold and Black Nuvo Drops for the centers of the flowers.

IMG_1587 (2)

Next, I used a blending brush to lightly apply Squeezed Lemonade Ink to a watercolor panel.  I spattered it with gold and black inks.  Once the paper was dry, I used foam tape to adhere my flowers to the card and then glued the leaves in place.

I die cut the words "Hello Friend" from Glossy Black cardstock and the shadow from vellum.  Then I adhered my card front to a white card base.

That's it for today!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Hello You Are Special To Me
by Angie Cimbalo

1

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with this mini slimline card inspired by my teammate Laura. She had recently shared a gorgeous card with an inked background and white die cuts and it sparked an idea to combine dies from the latest release with stem dies from previous releases.  I especially wanted to use the "Seed Stems" die and add jewels to the seeds so that's what I did.

Here's a close up look at my card:

1

I used the following dies to create the bottom of my card. On some of the dies, I just used a leaf or two, or a shortened piece of one of the stems to fill in open spaces on my design.

94615 Tall Frilly Leaf Stems
94654 Fresh Cut Stems
94537 Wildflower Stems
94535 Lavender Stems
94534 Seed Stems
94538 Daisy Stems

And for my sentiment I used the Birch Press Design CL8155 Crystal Lingo

All of the stems and dies were cut from watercolor card stock, also from Memory Box.

To make the background I cut a piece of card stock 3" by 6" and ink blended the following Distress Oxide Inks: Fossilized Amber, Peacock Feathers, Evergreen Bough, and Dried Marigold.  Then I spritzed it with my water sprayer for some more texture.
Once it was dry, I splatted it with black paint, then began to assembly my card.

Often while making this card I stopped to take pictures of where I put the stems and then I'd re-arrange them and take another picture. By looking at the pictures on my phone, it helps me see what layouts I like and which look odd to me. I do this a lot when I design cards because it really helps to step back and look at it that way. Next, I added the inked panel to a 6.5" by 7" (score this side at 3.5") card base with foam tape.

1

Lastly I added lots of Fairy Jewels, also from Memory Box. I love the gems and jewels from Memory Box as they come in so many variety of colors in one pack and they also have clear ones too.

Here's one last look at my card:

1

I hope you enjoyed my card for today. I had so much fun creating it!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
