Heart Border Frame and Have a Heart Die Set by Jean Okimoto

P1080472

Create a glittery floating Heart Border Frame card for Valentine's Day, weddings or anniversaries - then add layered hearts from the Have a Heart Die Set.  Here's a quick and easy card that may look a bit complicated...but isn't.

Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a simple way to adhere two delicate frames - and add glitter - with just a single square of tape.  The inner square of the outer frame (!) is filled with a square of tape.  The tape multi-tasks by attaching the layers...and creates a glittery background too.

Cut both Heart Border Frames from white cardstock.

Cover 3-½" square of white cardstock with Scor-Tape or Couture Creations tape.  Cut it with the 3" Square Basics die.

P1080406

Carefully adhere the edges of the taped surface behind the large frame.  Attach the smaller frame diagonally.  Brush ultra-fine glitter onto the remaining exposed adhesive.  I've used Martha Stewart Crafts Amethyst Glitter from my stash here.

Cut two each of the three hearts from the Have a Heart Die Set.  Layer them for dimension.  Glue the stacked hearts to the background.  It takes a few minutes for the glue to set up.

Attach the diecuts to a top-folded 5-¼" square white card.  Add pink or lavender gem stickers.

Valentine’s 2019 Blog Blitz Giveaway…Have a Heart Clear Stamp Set by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxHaveAHeartClearStamps, MemoryBoxBestLifeTypewriterSentimentsClearStamps-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxValentine's2019Collection-ImagineCrafts-VersaFineClair-ValentineStamps-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

It's Day #4 of our Blog Blitz...here's a very Valentine design featuring the new Have a Heart Clear Stamp Set and a sweet greeting from the Best Life Typewriter Sentiments Clear Stamp Set.  Hi everyone, Jean Okimoto here with a simple stamped hearts card for your favorite sweetie.

Have a Heart Clear Stamps - and its coordinating die set - make it easy to mix, match and layer the design elements.  Use basic colors or a rainbow of pastels, then add a dash of metallic ink, glitter and gem stickers.

Cut smooth white cardstock with the 4" x 2-¾" Rectangle Basics die.

Stamp the red images with VersaFine Clair Tulip Red.  Air-dry the ink for a few minutes.

MemoryBoxHaveAHeartClearStamps, MemoryBoxBestLifeTypewriterSentimentsClearStamps-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxValentine's2019Collection-ImagineCrafts-VersaFineClair-ValentineStamps-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Here's the diagonal  technique I recommend in classes for very precise stamping.  Attach the stamp diagonally for better visibility  - it keeps  your fingers off to the side instead of directly over (and covering) the stamp.  This also eliminates the distracting top edge of the block and lets you "point" the stamp exactly where you want it.

Stamp the vertical and horizontal lines over the big solid heart with Brilliance Lightning Black.  Stamp the solid outline over the lines.

Stamp the greeting - from the new Best Life Typewriter Sentiments Clear Stamp Set - and the small hearts.  Dry the inks.

Cut a ¾" x 3-¼" strip of black glitter paper.  Cut a ¾" x 3-¾" strip of red Wax Lips cardstock.

Attach everything to a side-folded A-2 card of Rock Candy cardstock.  Add red gem stickers.

Heart Board, Best Life Typewriter Sentiments Clear Stamps and Awesome Jotted Script by Jean Okimoto

The new Heart Board creates a versatile background - and cuts sweet Valentine confetti too!  Add glitter, Awesome Jotted Script and a greeting from the new Best Life Typewriter Sentiments Clear Stamp Set.  Hi, happy weekend - Jean Okimoto here with a simple but special design for Valentine's Day - or any day.

Cut white cardstock with the 2-¾" x 4" Wrapped Stitch Rectangle die.

Here's a quick tip to keep the painter's tape or washi tape from damaging the cardstock when the design requires very specific positioning.  Lightly brush the areas to be taped with the embossing powder tool.  It leaves a very light dusting of powder that allows the tape to adhere - but still be removable.

Cut the rectangle with the new Heart Board.

MemoryBoxHeartBoard-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles-JeanOkimoto-ScotchExpressionsTape-ValentineDiecuts

You could cut 25 glittered hearts and fill the cutouts individually.  Or - use this quick technique to add color using pink and salmon Scotch Expressions Magic Tape.  Just attach strips of tape to the reverse side of the diecut rectangle.  It doesn't need to look pretty - it's just the back.

MemoryBoxValentine's2019Collection-MemoryBoxHeartBoard-MemoryBoxBestLifeTypewriterSentimentsClearStamps-MemoryBoxAwesomeJottedScript-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles-JeanOkimoto-ScotchExpressionsTape-ImagineCrafts-ValentineDiecuts-GlitteredDiecuts-GlitteredValentines-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Flip it over and brush ultrafine iridescent glitter onto the pink and salmon tape in the cutouts.

Cut Awesome Jotted Script from pink and dark gray cardstock.

Prep dark gray cardstock with the embossing powder tool.  Stamp "you are enough" - from the new Best Life Clear Stamp Set - with VersaMark.  Emboss it with detail white powder.  Trim it - and it's a quick upgrade from "enough" to "awesome."

Attach the diecuts to a 5-¼" square white card.  Add pink gem stickers.

Hope you've loving the Valentine's 2019 Collection as much as we're enjoying sharing these ideas with you.  Thanks for stopping by!

New – Pinpoint Heart Circle Frame and Love Jotted Script by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxValentine's2019Collection-MemoryBoxPinpointHeartCircleFrame-MemoryBoxLoveJottedScript-JeanOkimoto-ImagineCrafts-MementoDyeInkRefills-ValentineDiecuts-GlitteredDiecuts-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Pinpoint Heart Circle Frame, Love Jotted Script - and lots of glitter - create a sparkly Valentine that's sure to impress!  Hello, Jean Okimoto  here with a warm pink design on a cold winter weekend.

Paint watercolor paper with diluted Memento Dye Ink refills - Rosebud, Angel Pink and Lilac Posies.  Heat-set it from both sides to minimize curling.  Still curled?  Cover the dried watercolor paper with printer paper and press it by running it through a diecut machine with the cutting plate and platforn.

Remove the inner heart from the die and cut pink glittered paper and a scrap of white cardstock.  Layer the hearts, slightly offset, for dimension.

Attach Scor-Tape to watercolor paper and cut it with the narrow outer frame.

Cut the inner portion from white cardstock - leave the diecut in the die.  Remove the offcuts.

MemoryBoxPinpointHeartCircleFrame-MemoryBoxValentine's2019Collection-JeanOkimoto-HeartDiecuts-ValentineDiecuts

Remove the tapeliner from the large circle.  Press the diecut (still in the die) firmly onto the adhesive-covered large circle.  The pokey tool is propping the die up to show the die being removed from the diecut attached to the adhesive.  The crumpled tape liner is nearby, just for special effects!

MemoryBoxValentine's2019Collection-MemoryBoxPinpointHeartCircleFrame-ImpressCardsAndCrafts-HeartDiecuts-ValentineDiecuts-GlitteredDiecuts

Brush ultrafine iridescent glitter onto the exposed adhesive around the diecut.  The diecut is now completely adhered - and surrounded by pretty glitter.

Cut the delicate Love Jotted Script from pink glittered paper - back the paper first with an adhesive label or sticker sheet if it's very lightweight.  Squeegee glue onto a scrap of white cardstock then cover it with another piece of cardstock.  Place it between two sheets of printer paper and run it through the a diecut machine with the platform and cutting plate to adhere the pieces.  Cut it with the bold greeting background.

Attach the diecuts to a white  A-6 (4-½" x 6-¼") card.  Attach gray gem stickers - or clear gem stickers colored with a Sharpie or Copic Marker.

MemoryBoxValentine's2019Collection-MemoryBoxPinpointHeartCircleFrame-MemoryBoxLoveJottedScript-JeanOkimoto-ImagineCrafts-MementoDyeInkRefills-ValentineDiecuts-GlitteredDiecuts-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Hope the Valentine's 2019 Collection is on its way to your favorite Retailer.  It's a great mix of delicate and bold,  dies and stamps -  perfect for February 14th - and throughout the year.

New - Neighborhood Heart Frame and Best Life Typewriter Sentiments Clear Stamps Set by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxNeighborhoodHeartFrame-MemoryBoxPinpointRectangleLayers-MemoryBoxBestLifeTypewriterSentimentsClearStampSet-JeanOkimoto-ValentineCards-MemoryBoxValentines2019-ImagineCrafts-ValentineDiecuts-ImpressCardsAndCrafts-DiecutValentines

The new Neighborhood Heart Frame is ready for Valentine's Day...are you?  Each holiday flies by too quickly - then it's time to start prepping for another special day!  Hello and Happy New Year - Jean Okimoto here with my January Challenge inspiration card.

Cut the heart and fence from watercolor paper.  Cut the balloon hearts from red glittered cardstock.  Trim the bottom from one heart.  Attach pieces of silver cord behind two hearts.

MemoryBoxNeighborhoodHeartFrame-MemoryBoxPinpointRectangleLayers-MemoryBoxBestLifeTypewriterSentimentsClearStampSet-JeanOkimoto-ValentineCards-MemoryBoxValentines2019-ImagineCrafts-ValentineDiecuts-ImpressCardsAndCrafts-DiecutValentines

It's not rocket-science - but here's an easy way to get the dimension of a double-layered bicycle without gluing two delicate layers together.  Just squeegee craft glue onto medium-weight black cardstock - keep the glue about ⅓" from the edges.  Press another layer of cardstock on it.  Place the glued layers between two layers of printer paper and run it through a diecut machine to spread the glue evenly.

Cut it with the delicate bicycle die - I ran mine through my Platinum four times for a complete cut through the double layers.  Gluing the layers makes it easier to cut - double-stick tape would have added another layer to cut through.

Prep a scrap of black cardstock with the embossing powder tool.  Stamp the greeting - from the new Best Life Typewriter Sentiments Clear Stamp Set - with VersaMark.  Emboss it with detail white powder.

Cut Kraft cardstock with the 4-⅜" x 3-⅜" Pinpoint Rectangle Layers die.  Attach the pieces to the rectangle - use foam dots for the heart balloons.

Attach the rectangle to a side-folded red A-2 card.

If you're not quite ready to start on Valentine cards...Neighborhood Heart Frame is great for post-holiday thank-yous and thinking-of-you cards too.  Just switch the colors to fuchsia or peachy-pink and select another greeting from the Best Life Typewriter Sentiments set for an entirely different look.  It's also great for engagement, wedding, anniversary and baby announcements!

Here's a preview of my new Impress classes.  I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again!  The classes are 2 hours - and I do all of the prep work (and diecutting!) for you.  Each class features a variety of techniques, great colors and beautiful artpapers.  Classes are fun, casual, relaxing - and we laugh a lot!  Please call the Tukwila store (206 901.9101) to reserve your seat.

Cocktail Hour with Bubble Burst, That’s Acute Triangle Die Set and Cheers Jotted Script by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxCocktailHour-MemoryBoxThat'sAcuteTriangleDiesSet-MemoryBoxCircleBasics-MemoryBoxPinpointRectangleLayers-MemoryBoxCheersJottedScript-MemoryBoxBubbleBurst-JeanOkimoto-GlitteredDiecuts-CelebrationCards-NewYearCards-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Create a glittery starburst for a New Year's card with the diamond die from the That's Acute Triangle Dies Set.  Layer it over the cool Bubble Burst background, add some Cocktail Hour drinks and say "cheers!"

Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a very glittery design - and some inspiration for our December Holiday Sparkle and Shine Challenge.

Cut four of the slender diamonds from the That's Acute Triangle set from silver glittered paper.  Cut center circle with the 1" Circle Basics die.  Layer the diamonds and top it with the circle for a smooth finish.

Cut white cardstock with the  3-⅜" x 4-⅜" Pinpoint Rectangle Layer die.  Cut it with Bubble Burst.

MemoryBoxCheersJottedScript-JeanOkimoto-GlitteredDiecuts

Attach Scor-Tape to a scrap of white cardstock and cut the Cheers Jotted Script background.  Cut the delicate "cheers" from coral cream cardstock - and leave the diecut in the die.  Remove the inner pieces from the h, e and s.  Carefully press the coral cream cheers diecut (still in the die) onto the adhesive-covered background greeting.

Remove the diecut using the pokey tool.

MemoryBoxCheersJottedScript-JeanOkimoto-GlitteredDiecuts

Brush ultra-fine silver glitter onto the remaining exposed adhesive.

Attach adhesive label paper - or a sticker sheet - to rose gold or blush glitter paper.  The extra layer adds dimension.  Cut the large Cocktail Hour glass twice.  Punch ¼" accent circles.

Attach everything to a side-folded 4-¼" square card of coral creme cardstock.

Hope you like this design - and a lot of glitter!  Memory Box dies are great for cutting specialty products  like glittered cardstock, doublestick tape, mirror cardstock, silkscreened and embossed papers.  If you're cutting a very delicate, intricate design - scrunch a sheet of waxed paper and rub it briskly over the die before you layer it over the cardstock or paper.    It'll be easier to remove the diecut when you're done.

Thanks for stopping by...see you again on Saturday!

Equal Triangle Clear Stamps Set, Thanks Jotted Script and Rectangle Basics by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxEqualTriangleClearStampsSet-MemoryBoxThanksJottedScript-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-ImagineCrafts-Kaleidacolor-Brilliance-WatercoloredBackgrounds-TriangleStamps

Here's an easy way to combine the Equal Triangle Clear Stamps Set with the Thanks Jotted Script dies and say thanks for holiday invitations and gifts.

Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a simple card featuring two very popular - and versatile - products.  The two smaller pink cardstock triangles shown above are diecuts from the coordinating Equal Triangle Dies - the big piece under the card was hand-cut.

MemoryBoxEqualTriangleClearStampsSet-MemoryBoxThanksJottedScript-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-ImagineCrafts-Kaleidacolor-Brilliance-WatercoloredBackgrounds-TriangleStamps

Cut smooth white cardstock with the 2-½" x 3-¾" Rectangle Basics die.

Keep the colors separated and press the vibrant inks of the Desert Heat Kaleidacolor onto an acrylic block.  Paint overlapping, random strips of the inks with a damp wide flat paintbrush.  Let the colors blend and airdry for a few minutes.  Gently heat-set it - apply the heat to both sides of the cardstock to eliminate curling.

Stamp the solid and patterned designs from the Equal Triangle Clear Stamps Set with Brilliance Starlite Black.  Heat-set it.  It's a beautiful combination of Starlite Silver and Graphite Black.

MemoryBoxEqualTriangleClearStampsSet-MemoryBoxThanksJottedScript-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-ImagineCrafts-Kaleidacolor-Brilliance-WatercoloredBackgrounds-TriangleStamps

Create a custom-matched greeting by painting a scrap of cardstock with the Kaleidacolor ink(s).  Dry it and cut it with the delicate Thanks Jotted Script die.  Save the off-cut - maybe we can use it for another project.  We save everything, don't we?

Cut the greeting background from dark gray cardstock.

MemoryBoxEqualTriangleClearStampsSet-MemoryBoxThanksJottedScript-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-ImagineCrafts-Kaleidacolor-Brilliance-WatercoloredBackgrounds-TriangleStamps

Attach everything to a side-folded light gray A-2 card.  Add clear gem stickers.

Think of the countless variations you can create with all of the triangle clear stamps and dies.  They're perfect for contemporary New Year's cards too!

Thanks for visiting - see you again tomorrow...

Memory Box Triangle Clear Stamp Sets, Typewriter Holiday Elements and Wintry Snowflakes by Jean Okimoto

P1080107 2

Holiday treats are sweeter when they're prettily packaged - and the Memory Box triangle clear stamp  sets make it quick and easy.  Hello, Jean Okimoto sharing my last Christmas 2018 design today.  Valentine projects are coming soon!

Score 8-½" x 11" sheet of smooth white cardstock lengthwise at 4" and 4-½".  Cut it into four 2-½" wide strips. Crease them on the score lines.  Cut or punch two angled corners.

Stamp the triangles from the Looking For Mr. Right Triangle, That's Acute Triangle,  Equal Triangle Clear Stamp Sets. Here's a list of the VersaFine Clair colors I've used - Verdant, Charming Pink, Tulip Red, and Green Oasis.  Use some Brilliance inks too - Pearlescent Orchid, Gamma Green and Starlite Black (for the "noel").

The greetings and 25-circles are from the very popular Typewriter Holiday Elements Clear Stamps Set.

If you're making several of each design - clean the stamps with a damp washcloth after you've used each stamp two or three times.  This eliminates a build-up of dried ink and helps keep the lines and edges sharp and crisp.

Diecut two silver glittered cardstock snowflakes with the Wintry Snowflakes Deep Edge Dies.

Punch ¼" circles of gold glittered cardstock.

Attach the candy or treat with a bit of doublestick tape or glue dots.  I've filled these with Ghiradelli chocolate squares.  Punch holes and add gold cord ties.

P1080120 2

I love that there aren't any rules about "Christmas colors" anymore - especially with the wide range of pinks and greens available.  They're just waiting to be mixed, matched and layered. These simple treat wrappers would make great tags too.

Here are the red and greens for a traditional look -

P1080121

Are  you loving the Memory Box triangles too?  It's hard not to use them!

Thanks for visiting...keep warm and have a great weekend.

Simply Stamped Gift Tags with Winter Greenery, Bold Christmas Greetings and Typewriter Holiday Elements by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxWinterGreenery-MemoryBoxBoldChristmasGreetings-MemoryBoxtypewriterHolidayElements-JeanOkimoto-ImagineCrafts-GiftTags-StampedTags-ChristmasTags

Add the final touch to your Christmas gifts with simple tags created using the realistic botanical images from the new Winter Greenery Clear Stamps Set.  They're ideal for simple stamping  - or layering - and they complement our favorite Memory Box holiday greetings.

Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a set of six tags to identify the great gifts you'll place under the tree this year.

Cut smooth white cardstock to about 2-¼" x 4-¼" and cut or punch two angled corners.

Stamp the Winter Greenery branches and leaves with VersaFine Clair Green Oasis or Shady Lane and Delicata Silvery Shimmer.  The pink "joy" card on the left was created by stamping off the Shady Lane ink before stamping the image on the left.  Stamp the center branch with a freshly-inked stamp - then quickly stamp the branch again, partially behind the center branch.

Stamp the stars - also from the Winter Greenery Set - with VersaFine Clair Tulip Red or Charming Pink.

The words are from the Winter Greenery,  Bold Christmas Greetings or Typewriter Holiday Elements Clear Stamp Sets.   Stamp them with Tulip Red, Charming Pink, Silvery Shimmer or Gamma Green Brilliance.  Dry the inks.

Attach 3/16" gold eyelets - they add a  warm brightness on the tags stamped with silver too.  Attach red or fuchsia cords.

Special thanks to everyone from last week's STASH CARDS - MANY THANKS class at Impress!  Hope you like the cards and all of the new techniques.  Enjoy the "stash extras" you received - you'll be able to make several more class cards with those supplies.  Thanks too - Jan and Jenny - for the great holiday treats!  Thanks to Erin and Lynne too - for helping us find the right products and supplies for our class cards.

Hope your holiday prep is  just about done - but save some time to make the quick holiday treat wrappers I've designed for Friday's post.  See you!

That’s Acute Triangles, Hutton Gates and Bold Christmas Greetings by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxHuttonGates-MemoryBoxThat'sAcuteTriangleDies-MemoryBoxThat'sAcuteTriangleClearStampsSet-MemoryBoxBoldChristmasGreetings-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-PastelChristmas-ChristmasDiecuts-GlitteredDiecuts

Combine That's Acute Triangles with pink glitter, Rose Gold ink and the Hutton Gates for a pastel holiday card that sparkles and shines.  Hi friends, Jean Okimoto here with a contemporary Christmas design for the special gals on your list.

MemoryBoxHuttonGates-MemoryBoxThat'sAcuteTriangleDies-MemoryBoxThat'sAcuteTriangleClearStampsSet-MemoryBoxBoldChristmasGreetings-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-PastelChristmas-ChristmasDiecuts-GlitteredDiecuts

Cut Hutton Gates from white cardstock.  I have the Left and Right gates so I've used both of them to save time.  Cut white cardstock to about 4-½" x 5-½" and cover it with Scor-Tape.  Save the tape liner.  Press the Hutton Gate diecuts onto the adhesive.  Use the tape liners as a presscloth to burnish the diecuts firmly onto the adhesive.

Brush the remaining exposed adhesive with pink glitter.  A lot of pink glitter!  Use the tape liner to firmly press the glitter onto the adhesive.

Cut the largest That's Acute Triangle  from the glittered Hutton Gate -  cover the die and the cardstock with printer paper to keep any loose glitter from transferring to the machine's plates.     (I used the smaller dies to cut extra triangles for other projects.)

Cut a rectangle of white cardstock with the 3-½" x 4-¾" Rectangle Basics die.  Stamp the solid and patterned triangles from the That's Acute Clear Stamps Set with Rose Gold Delicata.  Heat-set the ink.

Stamp the greeting - from the Bold Christmas Greetings set - on white cardstock with Lightning Black Brilliance.  Dry the ink and cut it with the matching dies from the Bold Greetings set.  Cut another set of the (unstamped) words and attach them to the stamped diecuts for dimension.

Attach everything to a top-folded A-2 card of textured white cardstock.  Add pale pink gem stickers.

MemoryBoxHuttonGates-MemoryBoxThat'sAcuteTriangleDies-MemoryBoxThat'sAcuteTriangleClearStampsSet-MemoryBoxBoldChristmasGreetings-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-PastelChristmas-ChristmasDiecuts-GlitteredDiecuts

Hope you like this beyond-the-box use of the Hutton Gate dies!  Discover ways to use the intricate patterns and versatile outlines of your Memory Box dies to create unique design elements for all of your projects.

If you're in the area - join us for my last class of the year at Impress on December 15.  It's STASH CARDS - MANY THANKS.  We'll make 6 thank you cards using the great tools and supplies from my stash.  You'll also some "extras" from my stash to make a few more class cards at home.

We'll end the year with a Thank You class to express my appreciation to everyone.  Thank you, my loyal students and friends - and Dave and Monica Brethauer for the amazing designs of Memory Box, Poppystamps and Birch Press Design.  Thanks too, Ann, Cindi, Lara, Shari and everyone at Impress!
