Magnolia Wreath
by Trina Pham

IMG_0743

Hello there.  I have a simple magnolia wreath card to share today made with the Curved Magnolia Branch die.  This started out as a Mother’s Day card for my mom, but remembered afterwards that I had already made one for her! 😆   So now she’ll get this next month for her birthday. 😂

The flowers and foliage were die cut from alcohol marker friendly cardstock and coloured with Copic Sketch markers.  I stuck to pink and grey to keep in line with the card for my MIL, except a lighter palette was used.

Copic markers used:
magnolias - R81, R83, R85
leaves - C2, C3, C5, C6

IMG_0744

The A2 size white woodgrain panel was scored horizontally at every inch.  The Love You Posh Script sentiment was die cut from silver Vintage Pastel Mirror paper and twice from thick white paper.  Adhered the mirror die cut on the front of its vellum shadow and the two white ones behind the vellum to give it a lift for a floating effect.  Assembled the card onto a white card base, then added clear shimmer to the magnolias for some sparkle to finish,

Before I go, I want to wish my mom, and all the moms who are celebrating tomorrow, a happy Mother’s Day.  Hope you all have a fabulous day.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Drifting Feathers by Jean Okimoto

A trio of the feathers - simply stenciled - creates a glittery friendship card for a winter day.  Hi, Jean here with a simple design using DIY Plumed Gypsy Feather stencils cut from heavyweight vellum for easier placement and crisp stenciled edges.

Prep the small Plumed Gypsy Feather by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help remove the tiny offcuts.  Cut the feather stencil three times from heavyweight vellum.  Cut white cardstock with the medium-sized Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangles die.  Stencil the feathers with Distress Oxides - salvaged patina, iced spruce and kitsch flamingo.

Cut the feathers again from the pale blue Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad sheet and the silver Majestic Hues Glitter Pad sheet.  The pink-stenciled feather doesn't have a glittered layer - that's part of the "missing" theme.  (The Delicate Pastels Glitter Pad has a matching pink sheet if you want 3 glittered feathers.)

Glue 2 pieces of white cardstock together for dimension,  then cut the background of the Miss You Posh Script.  Pressure-emboss it with the detailed top layer of the greeting. Cut the detailed top layer of the greeting from the pale aqua sheet in the  Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad - leave the tiny dot for the "i" in the die (or on the cutting plate) till you're ready to attach it because it tends to disappear.  Embossing the background creates a debossed area to easily align and attach the top layer.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½") - use foamtape for the greeting.  Add the pale pinkish-violet Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Backpaint a Vellum Scribble Daisy by Jean Okimoto

Here's a floral card with a technique that's fast, forgiving and foolproof!  The new Scribble Daisy is perfect for reverse-painting on vellum.  It's faster than paper-piecing, forgivingly painted on the backside and simply foolproof.  Hi, Jean here with a spring-into-summer design that would work in any color combination, for any occasion.

Cut medium-weight vellum with the 3-¼" wide Curved Cap Pinpoint Layer.  Cut the pale lavender 6x6 from the Twilight Purple Collection with the 2-¼" wide Curved Cap Pinpoint Layer.

Prep the Scribble Daisy die by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help release the little pieces.  Cut the daisy from Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  We won't be watercoloring it - but it's the perfect heavy weight for a bold outline. Attach tiny pieces of doublestick tape behind the top center - it'll be filled in with diecut yellow glittered cardstock.  Attach more tape to the flower's center, the leaf tips and where the stem meets the leaves.

Flip it over to the reverse side and place it on a dark background (not purple or green!) - to make it easy to see and control the painted colors.  Paint the backside using diluted dye inks - Imagine's Pansy and Spring Green were used here, about 1 part of ink to 10 parts of water. Undiluted Distress Oxide refill inks can also be used.  Test the inks on scraps of the same vellum to see how they'll look.

Set it aside to airdry completely - heat-setting might warp or burn the vellum.

Cut the tiny pieces for the center of the flower from the light yellow 6x6 in the Graceful Garden Glitter Pad.  Attach them to the vellum background. Attach the vellum to the smaller Curved Cap Pinpoint Layer - narrow strips of ScorTape (or Couture Doublestick Tape) won't show through the painted areas.   Attach everything to a lavender notecard.

Cut the Hugs Tender Script background from green cardsstock.  Spritz both sides of it with a light mist of water to prep it for pressure-embossing. Pressure-emboss it with the detailed script background to make it easy to attach the top layer.  Cut the top layer from a green 6x6 in the Graceful Garden Glitter Pad.

Assemble and attach the greeting .  Add some sparkle with lime green Bright Jewels.

Thanks for visiting - backpainting vellum is a great way to brighten any outline design - try it in your favorite colors!

For You
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_3900

Good morning everyone!  Today I have a bright, all occasion card for you.

To make the card, I started with a white cardstock panel that I masked off with removable tape.  I used a blending brush to add Distress Ink to the masked off rectangle.

IMG_3832

IMG_3833

I removed the tape from the cardstock and dry embossed the panel using the Ringadings 3D Embossing folder.  To add some glimmer to the inked area of the embossed background, I used a brayer to apply gold ink to it.

Next, I adhered the background to a gold metallic mat and glued it to a white card base.

I die cut the Verdant Leaf from Vellum, and rubbed over it with gold metallic ink.

The words "For You" were die cut from gold metallic cardstock and the shadow from white cardstock.  I glued the gold words to the shadow die cut and adhered it to the center of the card.  Next I tucked in the die cut leaf behind the words.

IMG_3902

To finish the card, I added some gold Fairy Crystals and that's it.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Examples - Pinpoint Burst Plate is a full A2-sized die that's perfect for trimming into with the Rectangle Basics dies.  The new Pinpoint Burst Heart can be trimmed with the Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Out dies shown here - or with Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out dies.

Cut white cardstock with the 3-¾" x 5" Rectangle Basics die.  Place the rectangle exactly where you want it on the Pinpoint Burst Plate (the diecut piece will be a reverse-image) and cut it.

Cut white cardstock with the largest Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Out die - save both the diecut and the offcut - they'll be the background for the pink heart.

Cut a dark pink 6x6 from the Berry Red Collection with the second-largest Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Out die. Place the heart on the Pinpoint Burst Heart and cut it to add the details.

Cut the smallest heart from a medium pink sheet in the Graceful Garden Glitter Pad.

Cut the overlay of the Hugs Daily Script from the glittered sheet too.  Cut two white backgrounds of the Hugs Daily Script.  Glue them together for dimension, then pressure-emboss them with the overlay die.  Pressure-embossing the background makes it easy to attach the top layer - just glue it into the debossed sections.

Remember vellum?  Transform the beautiful Luxe Peony into a delicate camellia with layers of sweet pink vellum.  The shadowy overlapped petals create depth and dimension and a soft background for the glittery yellow centers  from the Layered Fresh Flowers die set. Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a floral slimline that could be a Valentine - or a thinking-of-you card for someone deserves a hug.

Cut two sets of Luxe Peony from pink vellum.  Layer the diecuts to build three blossoms - you'll have a few extra pieces.  Use short bits of doublestick tape near the center of the flower to attach the layers.    They'll be hidden by the centers of the flowers.Cut the two centers - from the Layered Fresh Flowers set - from a yellow 6x6 in the Graceful Garden Glitter Pad.  Cut the small round piece in half.  Attach the centers.  Lightly curl several petals using the side of a bone folder or the plastic flower burnishing tool.

Blissful Heart Hot Foil Plate - Positive & Negative
by Angie Cimbalo

Hello, it's Angie here today with 2 fun cards for Valentine's Day using hot foiling!  It's quite early to be working on these but I need to work ahead as February is one of my busiest months helping out at school music programs!

For the first card I used the new "Blissful Heart" hot foil plate just released this year with some gold foil on light pink glitter paper from the "Pastel Glitter" paper pad.  I love the way it turned out, and the fun part was being able to use the negative left over piece on my second card that you will see below.

For this first card I also cut the foiled heart with the "Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out" (94359) largest die in the set.  I added the heart to the white card base and then added the sentiment "Sending Love Daily Script" 94661.  I used gold mirror cardsoick from the "Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad" (FP1003) for the outline on top of white card stock.  Here's a real close up look at the heart details:

I really love how this card turned out, it's clean and simple but has lots of intricate detail on the heart.
Here's one last look:

Now let's look at what I did with the left over "negative" piece of hot foil I had:

The leftover piece was so pretty, I decided to use it in a 2nd card by attaching it to a piece of vellum, then covering it with the leftover glitter card panel that I'd cut the pink heart from.  Below you can see I turned the thin piece of leftover hot foil over, and added double sided adhesive to it so I could stick the vellum to it.  This way when you look through the gold foil openings, you will see a soft glow of the vellum.

It looks horribly messy but the messy parts will be covered by the large light pink glitter panel.

Now below you can see I turned it over and the adhesive I'd added stuck right down on the vellum square I'd cut.  Again it looks really bad, you can even see a strip of missing gold where a piece of double sided tape with a mind of it's own, stuck to my finger and ripped all the gold off!  It doesn't matter as long as the heart portion looks good, because you will cover all the ugly part with the glitter panel.

So now, I added the glitter panel (with the heart opening - I used that heart for the first card!) As you can see, all the ugly parts are hidden and all you see is that beautiful design of gold and vellum inside the heart opening!  It is all placed on a white card base.

I used the same sentiment die, gold on top of white card and put it right on the heart.  Here's one last look at my second card:

I love it when you can make two cards like this by using the leftovers from one card!  I hope you will take a look at all the wonderful Valentine's Day products available from Memory Box HERE!

Thanks for stopping by!

A September Celebration! by Jean Okimoto

P1018948

Celebrate Stamptember with Memory Box and Simon Says Stamp!  Here's the fabulous new and exclusive Memory Box Beautiful Moments Stamp Set designed by Dave Brethauer for this annual celebration of design, creativity and inspiration.

It's a versatile, classic design that's only available while supplies last.  You'll love creating cards, layouts, journals and mixed media projects with this great set of clear stamps.

Hi friends, Jean Okimoto here with a simple back-painted vellum slimline design.  It's a classic botanical image that's perfect for any occasion.

Prep heavy white vellum with the embossing powder tool to eliminate stray powder flecks.  Stamp the image with VersaMark, then emboss it with detail white powder.  Trim it with the 4-¾"x 3-½" Rectangle Basics die.

Dribble Distress Oxide refill inks onto a large acrylic stamp block.  I've used abandoned coral, twisted citron and mowed lawn.  Paint the reverse side of the stamped vellum using a barely damp paintbrush and the refill inks.  Airdry the inks.

Stamp the greeting - also from this great new stamp set - on white cardstock with Tulip Red VersaFine Clair.  Dry the ink, then trim the greeting with the 2-¾"x 1-½" Rectangle Basics die. P1018953 2

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card - 3-⅝" x 8-⅝".  Foamtape the greeting.  Use tiny pieces of doublestick tape behind several outer points of the stamped image.

Add green Christmas Fairy Crystals.  Place a very tiny dot of adhesive on the vellum behind the jewels to secure the  three corners.

Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Here's a link to order your exclusive Beautiful Moments set - remember it's a limited edition exclusive, available only while supplies last.

Thanks for joining us for Stamptember 2022!  See you again next week...

Let's Shell-ebrate!
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_1949

Good morning everyone!  Today I have a fun and easy beach themed card.

I started by applying Distress Oxide Inks to my craft mat, misting them with water and then smooshing watercolor paper into inks.  I dried my paper in between applying more ink to get the color I liked.

IMG_1911

Next, I glued the background to a black cardstock mat and used foam tape to adhere this to a white card base.

I die cut the shell outline from white cardstock and the solid shell shape from vellum.  The outline was glued to the vellum die cut and adhered to the card.

I white heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of black cardstock and glued this onto the shell.

IMG_1950

To finish the card, I added some clear fairy drops to look like water droplets.

That's it for today!  Have a great day!

Miss You Card
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_1767

Good morning everyone!  Today I have a bright and fun card for you featuring the new Stella Butterfly and Background Die Set.

I started with a piece of white cardstock and used Distress Inks to create a blended background.

Next, I inked the Rose Bouquet stamp with white pigment ink and stamped it on top of my blended background.  This created a soft texture to the background.

IMG_1770

I die cut one of the Nested Globes dies from the background and adhered it to a Pinpoint Leaf Plate background that I die cut from white cardstock.

The butterfly outlines were die cut from black cardstock and the butterfly background was cut from vellum.  I glued only the center of the butterfly outline to the the vellum and adhered them to my card.

Next I die cut the words "Miss You" from white cardstock and the shadow from black cardstock.  I glued the words to the black shadow die cut and adhered it to the card.

IMG_1769

I glued the card front to a black cardstock mat and adhered it to a white card base.

I added some Fairy Gemstones to finish the card, and that's it for today!

Thanks so much stopping by!
