Merry, Bright and Petite by Jean Okimoto

Create a traditional holiday scene with candles, poinsettias and pine sprigs from the 2024 Yuletide Collection.  Hi, Jean here with a mix of dark pinks, green and golds to greet the season.

Cut Merry and Bright Candles from the Yuletide Cheer 6x6 and a Blush Solid-Core 6x6.  Cut the flame and two sets of Petite Poinsettia centers from a gold Glitzy Glitter Pad 6x6.  Cut the flame outlines from a gold Rainbow Reflections 6x6.

Cut Petite Poinsettias from the Blush Solid Core 6x6.

Cut three pine sprigs from a Greenery Solid Core 6x6 with the Pinecone Duo dies

Cut the Believe Enchanted Script background from white cardstock.  Cut the detailed green layer from the Greenery 6x6.

Cut two of the 3" wide Nested Globes from white cardstock and layer them for dimension.

A lot of diecutting...now we're ready to assemble!  Attach everything to a white A6 card (6-¼" x 4-½").

Candles, poinsettias and pine sprigs are always a classic Christmas trio.  Add a contemporary look with prints from the new Yuletide Cheer 6x6 - and a bit of gold.

Watchful Bird On a Branch by Jean Okimoto

Plush felt and shimmery Rainbow Reflections cardstock add bright texture to a holiday greeting from our 2024 Yuletide Collection.  Golden pine branches and Fringed Scalloped Frames create a green-on-green backdrop for a festive bird.  Hi, Jean here with a simple holiday design from our latest release.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to bright red wool-blend felt and cut the large bird from the new Watchful Bird set.  Cut the detailed overlay from the red Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  There's an additional head overlay diecut but we're not using that here.  Cut the backing piece for the eye and beak from Glossy Black Paper (cardstock).  Push a toothpick thru the eye cutout of the main felt diecut to enlarge the opening.  Assemble the bird - attach the black diecut behind the head.

Cut the olive green pine print -  from the Yuletide Cheer 6x6 set -  with the smallest Fringed Scalloped Frame.  Cut two shades of green from the Greenery 6x6 Collection with the next 2 larger frames.

Attach the diecuts to a green notecard.  Add clear Christmas Fairy Dewdrops.  Cut an A2-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Holiday icon prints from the Yuletide Cheer 6x6's create great backgrounds for Watchful Bird.  Coordinate them with Fringed Scalloped Frames from the Greenery, Lagoon and Blush Collections for quick and easy holiday cards.

Cordial Christmas Cheer by Jean Okimoto

 

Send merry and bright holiday wishes with the new Cordial Snowman and Drifting Snowflakes.  Multiple layers -  and glittery diecuts -  add dimension and sparkle to white-on-white.  Hi, Jean here with a frosty winter design from our 2024 Yuletide Collection.

Before we start the card... special Congratulations to Shari Acuff and her new online shop - sharinCRAFTERstudio!  Shari was a team leader at the Impress stores.  She inspired - and Impress-ed - everyone with her ideas, creativity and knowledge.  We wish you the very best Shari!

Cut the new Cordial Snowman shapes from watercolor paper, pale gray cardstock and medium gray cardstock.  Color the light gray diecut with a black marker where the eyes will appear.

Cut the arms/nose/hat pompom from watercolor paper.  Color the diecuts with brown, orange and red markers.

Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) behind red felt and cut the hat and scarf sections.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and prevents adhesives from saturating it.  Cut the hat and scarf sections from the bright red Festive Glitter Pad 6x6.  Cutting all of the pieces saves time - and you'll have the extras ready for another project.  

Attach the twiggy arms behind the top layer.  Attach the gray layers - slightly offset on the right side too.

Cut the Drifting Snowflakes background from the pale bluish-white Delicate Pastels Glitter Pad 6x6.  Cut the detailed overlay from white cardstock.  Attaching a delicate diecut to a glittered surface can be challenging. I spread a thin layer of  Tacky Glue on an old credit card and tapped sections of the diecut into the glue and pressed it onto the glittered background.

Stamp the greeting - from the new Holiday Wishes Clear Stamp and Die Set - on white cardstock with Satin Red VersaFine.  Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut the cooled greeting with the second-smallest Nested Globes die.  Cut a second globe and layer it for dimension.  

Cut two pieces of white cardstock with the 3" wide Nested Globes die.  Layer them for dimension.  Round the corners of the layered globes.

Attach the diecuts to a top-folded white A2 card - use foam dots for the top of the snowman and right edge of the greeting.  Add orange Bright Jewels.  Cut an A2-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.  

This card may require extra postage and special handling depending upon the weight of your cardstock and felt.

Merry Christmas, Simply Stated by Jean Okimoto

A trio of ornaments and a glossy embossed greeting create a quick card for the holidays.  It's a basic design perfect for many of our 6x6 prints and plaids and 3D embossing folders.  Hi, Jean here with a slimline design that's great for other papers you may have in your stash too.

Cut two 3" circles from the teal pine print in the new Yuletide Cheer 6x6 pack using a Circle Basics die.  Cut a circle from the pale aqua Vintage Pastel Mirror Cardstock 6x6.  Lightly spritz just the back of the aqua circle, place it in the new Spiral Delight 3D Embossing Folder and emboss it using the plate(s) required for your machine.

Cut the Rainbow Reflections gold 6x6 three times using a short end of the second-smallest Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die to create ornament caps.  Punch ⅛" holes in each cap and attach them to the circles, then tie them with gold cord.  Use the edge of the flower-burnishing tool or bonefolder to curl the cord.

Cut white cardstock with the solid background of the new Merry Christmas Wave set.  Cut it with the detailed top layer.  Layer ScorTape over the teal 6x6 from the Lagoon Collection.  Cut the solid background.  Attach the white layer firmly over the taped greeting.  Sprinkle it with detail clear embossing powder and heat-emboss it to adhere and add gloss to the greeting.

Cut white cardstock with the 1.7" wide Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-½" x 8-½") - use foam tape behind the M, C and S.  

Add turquoise Christmas Fairy Dewdrops.  Cut a slimline-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Stitch a Winter Knit Stocking by Jean Okimoto

Embossing creates extra texture and highlights the new Stitchable Stocking from the 2024 Yuletide Collection.  The versatile new Winter Knit 3D Embossing Folder adds a cozy sweater-ish look for the holidays. Hi, Jean here with another idea from our latest release.

Trim a light turquoise 6x6 from the Lagoon Solid-Core Collection to fit into the new Winter Knit 3D Embossing Folder.  I usually ink both panels of an embossing folder, compare the results,  and pick the one I like best. I chose the bumpier, embossed panel for this card.

Tap the VersaFine Clair Warm Breeze inkpad onto the embossed panel - tap it lightly in all directions, don't squish or rub the ink into the design.  Spritz both sides of the turquoise cardstock with a light mist of water.  Quickly place it into the folder and emboss it using the plate(s) required for your machine.  Clean the embossing folder - I used a soft brush, dish soap and lots of water.

Airdry or heat-set the inked design.  Cut it with the Stitchable Stocking outline. 

Cut turquoise felt with the smallest Nested Globes die and fold it in half to form a tab for the stocking. Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) to turquoise felt and cut the scalloped cuff and toe sections. The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from saturating it.

Cut 3 of the bigger buttons from the Stitchable Stocking set. Stitch them to the cuff - or stitch the buttons first, then glue them to the cuff.  Stitch the stocking, cuff and toe.  Attach red Bright Jewels to the border.

Stamp the greeting - from the new Holiday Wishes Clear Stamp and Die Set - on white cardstock with Warm Breeze VersaFine Clair - leave a large border for diecutting. Quickly emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut it with the 3" wide Nested Globes die.  Cut a teal 6x6 from the Lagoon Collection with the 3-½" wide Nested Globes die.  Trim the globe bottom with a corner-rounding punch.

Attach everything to a white A6 card (4-½" x 6-¼").  Cut an A6-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

The Winter Knit 3D Embossing Folder is great for textured card fronts and gift tags too.  Cut it into a tall triangle and create a contemporary Christmas tree.  Cut it into ornaments, gift boxes or sweaters.  There are so many ways to use this great folder!

Frosty Winter Wonderland by Jean Okimoto

3D-Embossed Frosted Trees create a sparkly background for Slender Pine Trees and the Huddled Sparrow.  Glittery, glossy, shimmery and matte designs build a textured winter scene highlighting our 2024 Yuletide Collection.  Hi, Jean here with a mix of whites and brights for the holidays.  I've never seen a red sparrow - but this one is ready to celebrate!

Spritz both sides of 80- or 100-pound smooth white cardstock with a light mist of water. Tap a clean VersaMark inkpad over the debossed (slightlty smoother) section of the new Frosted Trees 3D Embossing Folder.  Place the cardstock in the folder and pressure-emboss it using the plates required for your machine.

Sprinkle the inked design with Imagine's Irirdescent Embossing Powder, tap the excess off,  then heat-emboss it.  Cut the cooled design with the 3-¾" x 5" Rectangle Basics die.

Cut the tallest Slender Pine Tree from a bright green 6x6 in the Greenery Solid Core Collection.  Cut the 2 center trees from a slightly darker Greenery 6x6.  I trimmed the second branch from the bottom of the left tree so it wouldn't hurt the sparrow.  Attach the trees to the background with tiny dots of Tacky Glue along the trunks and at the tops and bottoms. 

Cut Huddled Sparrow from a bright red 6x6 in the Blush Solid Core Collection.  Ink the beak and eye area of the smallest diecut with a black marker.  Attach it behind the head.  Cut the detailed top layer from a red Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Assemble the sparrow.

Stamp the greeting - from the new Holiday Wishes Clear Stamp and Die Set - on white cardstock with Tulip Red VersaFine Clair.  Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cover the cooled greeting with printer paper and trim the left side first with the 1"x 2-¼" Rectangle Basics die.  Trim the right side with an edge of a larger rectangle die.  You'll have a custom-sized greeting block with straight, crisp edges...and no measuring!

Attach everything to a top-folded white A2 card - use foam tape for the Huddled Sparrow and greeting.  Cut an A2-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Yuletide Notes of Joy by Jean Okimoto

Joyful holiday notes dance across a Wavy Sheet Music background.  I used the detailed die to pressure-emboss it instead of diecutting to create a textured background.  The new Watchful Bird combines felt and mirror cardstock for dimension.  Hi, Jean here with more designs from our 2024 Yuletide Collection.  

There's a lot going on here - there are so many ways to combine the new designs from our holiday collection.  Let's start with the background.  Cut the smoother side of watercolor paper with the 5" x 3-¾" Rectangle Basics die. Trim it with a corner-rounding punch.  Spritz both sides of the paper with a light mist of water to prep it for pressure embossing.  Emboss it with the new Wavy Sheet Music die using the rubber embossing mat and plates required for your machine.

Attach Scor-Tape behind black cardstock (use lightweight cardstock if possible). Cut two sets of the Wavy Sheet Music notes.

Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) to red wool-blend felt and cut the new Watchful Bird.  I cut all of the sections to mix and match the diecuts for different variations of the bird later.  Cut the detailed top layer from the red Rainbow Reflections mirror cardstock 6x6.  Cut the backing for the beak and eye from a orangey-yellow Sunrise Solid Core 6x6.  Color the eye area with a black marker.  Assemble the bird.

Attach Scor-Tape to a bright red Blush Solid Core 6x6.  Cut it with the new Bello Joy background.  Cut the detailed top layer of the greeting from watercolor paper.  Remove the inner pieces.  Attach the top layer to the adhesive-covered background.  Sprinkle detail clear embossing powder over the exposed adhesive  and heat-emboss it to attach the greeting and create a glossy red background.

Cut the new Pine Branches from a dark green 6x6 in the Greenery Solid Core pack.  

Cut the berries from the new Festive Holly set from a bright red Glitzy Glitter Pad 6x6.

Attach the diecuts to a natural A6 card (6-¼" x 4-½") that trimmed with a corner rounding punch - use foam tape for the bird's head and tail.  Cut an A6-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing

The Wavy Sheet Music set will be great for birthday cards too - and Watchful Bird can be used throughout the year.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to white wool-blend felt.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and prevents adhesives from saturating it.  Cut the new Wintertime Bear.  Cut the portion that goes behind his face from Glossy Black Paper (cardstock) for the eyes and nose. 

Cut the scarf and hat from a dark red plaid in the new Yuletide Plaid 6x6 set.  It’s actually a Santa hat – we’re going for the coordinated plaid look here today.

The Wintertime Bear set includes ski equipment and boots - he’s delivering gifts first, he’ll ski later.  Cut the boots from a dark red 6x6 in the Blush Collection

Cut the new Pretty Presents gift boxes from the dark green Yuletide Cheer 6x6 print. 

Cut the ribbons from the red Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Assemble the gifts – attach the bottom of the ribbons for the tallest and shortest gifts behind the boxes.

Cut a grass-green 6x6 from the Greenery Collection with the second-largest Fringed Scalloped Frame Set die. 

Cut a dark green 6x6 from the Greenery Collection with the 4-1/4” x 5-1/2” die from the A2 Rectangle Frames Set.  Attach it to a top-folded white card that’s about 1/16” smaller than an A2 card.

Attach the diecuts to the card – use foam tape at the bottom of the shorter gifts, and for the top layer of the scarf.

Cottage Meadow Collage by Jean Okimoto

Create a summer garden collage card with Cottage Meadow Rub Ons and golden Buzzing Bumblebees.  It's colorful, easy - and there's no measuring!  Hi, Jean here with a versatile basic design - and a great way to create a layered background for rub ons, stamped images or diecuts.

Cut the blocks from the Vintage Tray 3D Embossing Folder and Die Set from mustardy-yellow cardstock.  Cut the Cottage Meadow Rub Ons leaving a generous margin around the blossoms and leaves.  

Carefully remove the paper liner and gently tap the rub on onto the diecut block.  Cover it with printer paper to protect it from any scratches on the diecutting plate.  Run it through the machine using the plates you'd use for diecutting.  Carefully remove the plastic liner.

Diecut Buzzing Bumblebees from the gold Rainbow Reflections 6x6 and the gold Glitzy Glitter Pad 6x6.  I cut all of the pieces from both 6x6's and saved the extras for other projects.

Assemble the 3 bees.

Cover a piece of the yellow cardstock with ScorTape and cut the Hello Breezy Script background.  Cut the delicate top layer from a Greenery Solid Core 6x6 - leave it in the die and use a piercing tool to remove the little pieces in the e, l's and o.  Press the diecut (still in the die) firmly onto the adhesive-covered background.  Cover the exposed adhesive with detail clear embossing, tap off the excess, then heat-emboss it to adhere the top layer and add a glossy background.  

Attach the diecuts to a top-folded white A2 card - use foam tape for the middle and right side of the greeting.

Vellum Prairie Butterflies by Jean Okimoto

Remember vellum?   Layer a pair of purple vellum Prairie Butterflies over a Fuchsia Plaid square for a bright summer birthday celebration.  Hi, Jean here with some vintage vellum to match a Fuchsia Plaid 6x6/

Cut Prairie Butterflies from purple vellum.  Plain white vellum inked with Brilliance Peartlescent Purple and air-dried can be used if you don't have purple vellum for the butterflies and greeting square.  Attach lined doublestick tape behind the violet Rainbow Reflections 6x6 and cut the wing accents and antennae/body. 

Don't assemble the butterflies yet - it's easier to layer and attach the pieces directly to the background.

Cut a Fuchsia Plaid 6x6 with the 2-¾" Square Basics die.  Cut purple vellum with the 1-¼" Square Basics die.

Cut white cardstock to 4-¼" x 9-¾".  Score it at 4-¼".  Attach the diecuts.  Add a Happy Birthday Foil Greetings White Circle Tab.  Add clear Christmas Fairy Jewels.  Cut an A2-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing. Cut a ½" x 3-½" plaid strip for a side accent.
