Birch Tree Forest Cardinal
by Trina Pham

IMG_3101

Hello everyone.  Keeping the bird theme going, I have a vintage brown and red Christmas card to share today featuring the Layered Cardinal die and Birch Tree Forest embossing folder (EF) from the current 2023 Christmas release

The Layered Cardinal, Classic Pine Needle Sprigs and pine cones were all die cut from white paper then ink blended with distress inks (DI) using blending brushes:

reds - Abandoned Coral, Lumberjack Plaid
brown - Gathered Twigs
black - Black Soot
yellow - Fossilized Amber

IMG_3102

The background was created by “stamping” with the EF.  Inked the flat side of the EF with Brushed Corduroy and Gathered Twigs DI, spritz with water then pressed onto watercolor paper.  Just like you would for the stencil monoprint technique, except with an EF… so EF monoprint! 🤗

IMG_3100

Left the panel to air dry then trimmed down to A2 size before black heat embossing the sentiment from Shining Star with clear glitter embossing powder directly on the panel for a bit of sparkle.  Assembled the card onto a white card base to finish.

IMG_3103
That does it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Greet everyone - and treat the kid-sized tricksters - with the new Winter Tree Arch.  It's fun, a little wonky and slightly spooky.  Hi - Jean here, double-dipping with this versatile new die from our Christmas 2023 Collection.  Whittle Scary Guys - from Poppystamps - complete the Halloween scene.

Prep Winter Tree Arch for easy removal by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper.  Cut it from black and light kraft cardstock.

Trim about  1/16" from the sides of the base of the black diecut. Attach it to a gray 3" wide Nested Globes diecut - keep the far left tree trunk and the open center area free of adhesive to add the Poppystamps pumpkin and Rickety House.

Cut Rickety House from light kraft cardstock.  Add a scrap of the light yellow Graceful Garden Glitter Pad 6x6 behind the door and windows.

Cut the Boo Posh Script background from olive cardstock.  Pressure emboss it with the detailed top layer.  Cut the top layer from dark orange cardstock.  Pressure-embossing the base layer makes it very easy attach the top layer - it just settles right in!  Attach it to a top-folded black A2 card.

Cut 2 moons from the silver Glitzy Glitter Pad 6x6 with the ¾" Circle Basics die.

Cut 2 pumpkins from bright orange cardstock with the Poppystamps Whittle Scary Guys die. Cut the dinosaur and the other guy from green cardstock. Cut a ghost from white cardstock.  Attach black cardstock scraps behind the ghost and pumpkins.

Fold an 8-½" x 3" strip of black cardstock in half crosswise.  Place the bottom cutting edge of the 3" wide Nested Globes die just below the fold and diecut the folded cardstock to create a simple treat wrapper.  Punch a hole at the top.

Attach the kraft Winter Tree Arch - keep some spots free of adhesive to add the ghost, moon and pumpkin.  Attach the diecuts.  Attach a Ghiradelli Square inside the wrapper with doublestick tape.  Tie it with orange cord.

A Blossom from the Magnolia Grove by Jean Okimoto

Billowy flowering trees create a colorful backdrop for a fresh Magnolia Blossom from our latest collection.  Hi, Jean here with a spring slimline - and some very poufy trees.

Cut Birch Tree Trunks from light kraft cardstock - we're using just 3 of them today.  Cut the Gentle Rose Watercolor Floral background from a tiny floral print from the new Magnolia Grove 6x6 set.  Cut three more floral backgrounds from dark green cardstock. Layer them - slightly offset  - for treetops.  Trim one of them where it'll be attached along the fold.  Attach them to a pale lavender-pink slimline card (3-⅝"x 8-½").

MemoryBoxMagnoliaBlossom, MemoryBoxVibrantLeafCorner, MagnoliaGrove6x6, MemoryBoxGentleRoseWatercolorFloral, MemoryBoxBirchTreeTrunks, MemoryBoxWinterFantasyFairyGemstones, JeanOkimoto, MemoryBoxCo, MemoryBoxDiecuts, Cardmaking, SlimlineCards, DiecutFlowers, HandmadeFlowerCards, Diecutting, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

The Magnolia Grove set has several other floral and leafy prints that would be great for this technique.

Tip - it's easier to color Magnolia Blossom's layers if they are pressure-embossed first, then colored, then finally cut out.  You won't have to chase the little pieces around to color (and/or misplace!) them - and you can apply the colors exactly where you want them.

Pressure-emboss Magnolia Blossom on smooth white cardstock using a rubber embossing mat and the plate(s) required for your machine.  Color the embossed designs with Pearlescent Orchid and Pearlescent Rust Brilliance inks using a sponge, dauber or blending brush.  Dry the inks, then diecut the pieces.  Assemble the blossom.

Cut the extra leaf/stem pieces - from the Vibrant Leaf Corner set - from green cardstock.  Attach the blossom and leaves to the card - use foam dots behind some of the petals.

Add pale lavender Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Think beyond-the-box, upcycle and repurpose your tools and supplies to get the most from your investment of these fun toys.

Thanks for visiting - see you in May!

Bear Hugs for You by Jean Okimoto

The Layered Polar Bear - from our Christmas release - makes a great addition to Valentine cards too.  Cut this very popular guy from soft white felt and

Open Studio Watercolor Paper for plush texture and contrasting shades of white.

Hi, Jean Okimoto here with my favorite design from our holiday release.  Pair the friendly bear with the Woodgrain Tree Trunk and imagine "xoxo" carved into the trunk with Poppystamps' Poetic Lowercase Alphabet.

Prep white wool-blend felt by attaching it to adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to stabilize it and prevent adhesives from saturating it.  Cut the large bear background.  Color the eartips with a pink marker.  Let it dry for a few minutes - then blot it to be sure it's really dry.

Cut the other bear sections from Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Attach a scrap of Black Glossy Cardstock behind his face.  The glossy finish makes a big difference  - his eyes look brighter.  Assemble the bear - use foamtape behind the top layers of the paws and leave a section on the left unattached to insert the hugs heart

Cut a bright red 6x6 from the Berry Red Collection with the smallest

Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out.

Cut "xoxo" and "hugs"  - from the Poppystamps Poetic Lowercase Alphabet - from dark brown cardstock.  Attach the letters to the heart.

Cut Woodgrain Tree Trunk from medium-brown cardstock.

Prep bright red felt with adhesive label paper or a stick sheet and cut 3 of the Layered Birds.  Cut the coordinating smaller top layers from the Berry Red 6x6.

Attach the diecuts to a light kraft slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½").  Add the amber-colored Autumn Fairy Crystals.

Cut a slimline-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Add a greeting - the new For You Posh Script - cut from light kraft cardstock and the bright red Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Cut 2 background layers from the kraft cardstock and pressure-emboss 1 using the rubber mat and plate(s) required for your machine.  Pressure-embossing creates a debossed area to easily attach the detailed top layer.  Attach the other kraft background behind the greeting for extra dimension.

Construct a brown bear with brown felt and cardstock if they're more common in your neighborhood - like they are here.   He's also great for baby and kid cards too - and birthdays, holding a balloon or cupcake!    Add a scarf for extra color on winter cards.

Thanks for visiting - keep warm, be safe and have a great weekend!

First Snow…from Skates to Winter Boots by Jean Okimoto

Turn a pair of ice skates into waterproof winter boots for a walk in the woods this weekend.  Add a glittery scarf and a matching pink felt hat and you're ready for winter!  Happy First Snow Weekend if you're in the northwest - Jean Okimoto here with a holiday slimline on a frosty Saturday.

If (like me!) you can't skate, but you can walk the dogs - just eliminate the blades from the Classic Pair of Ice Skates.  Diecut them in adhesive pink vinyl (attached to heavyweight white cardstock) and create glossy, waterproof boots for a walk in the woods.  Cut the sole and heel from black cardstock.  Stitch the boots with floss or crochet thread.

MemoryBoxAlpineSnowflakes, MemoryBoxLittleBundledSnowman, MemoryBoxBirchTreeTrunks, MemoryBoxClassicPairOfIceSkates, MemoryBoxDelicatePastelGlitterPad, MemoryBoxMajesticHuesGlitterPad, MemoryBoxWhiteWoodgrainPaper, JeanOkimoto, SlimlineCards, WinterCards, ChristmasCards, HandmadeChristmasCards, ChristmasDiecuts, HoliodayDiecuts, GlitteredDiecuts, Cardcrafting, DiecutCards, ChristmasCardTutorials, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

We're borrowing the scarf and hat from the Little Bundled Snowman and cutting them in girlie pink.  Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) to pink felt and cut the main portion of the hat.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and prevents adhesives from saturating it.  Cut the pompom and bottom band from the pink 6x6 in the Delicate Pastels Glitter Pad.  Cut the scarf sections from the pink 6x6 too.  Trim the fringe and assemble the scarf - I've used some of the pieces and added the short fringed end over the top to resemble a knot.  (I hope!)

Cut the small and medium Alpine Snowflakes from a silver Majestic Hues Glitter Pad 6x6.

Brayer Delicata Silvery Shimmer ink onto White Woodgrain Paper and dry the ink. Diecut it with Birch Tree Trunks.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½") - use foamtape for the hat, scarf and the boot on the left.

Keep warm, be safe and have a great weekend...see you again next week!

Christmas
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_3235

Hello everyone!  Today I have a quick and easy Christmas card for you.

I began by die cutting the Layered Narrow Pines from several pieces of green distress ink background papers.  I only used the large tree die, not the layered shadow die that comes in the set.

IMG_3233

I stamped my greeting on the bottom portion of watercolor cardstock and then glued my trees to the paper.  I used foam tape to adhere the tallest tree and glued the other two directly onto the cardstock.  Using a blender brush I added a little bit of Bundled Sage Distress Ink under the trees. I spattered the card front with white ink and glued it to a black cardstock mat.  Next, I used foam tape to glue it to a white card base.

IMG_3234

To finish the card, I added a red fairy crystal to the top of the middle tree.

See how quick that was!  To save time you could die cut the trees from different color cardstock instead of creating your our background paper.

Thanks for stopping by today!
