The Christmas 2022 Collection by Jean Okimoto

Celebrate the arrival of our latest release...the Christmas 2022 Collection is here!  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with the first of many ideas for the holidays.  There's something for everyone in our holiday collection - sweet, simple, classic and elegant.  We love the versatility of our new items and we're ready to greet the season!

Slimline cards stand out in a crowd - and the new Birch Tree Trunks set is perfect for fall and winter cards.  Cut it from a light taupe 6x6 in the Earth Neutrals 6x6 set.  We're using just the 2 larger diecuts - save the 3rd for another project.  (It makes a great spooky tree for Halloween!)

 

Cut the new Layered Polar Bear from Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Color the ear sections of the large bear with a pink marker.  Attach a scrap of black cardstock behind the top overlay for the eyes and nose.  Attach the overlay to the large bear diecut.

Cut the two fringed scarf sections (from the new Little Bundled Snowman set) from turquoise Twinkling Jewel glitter 6x6.  Attach the pieces to the bear - fold the right tip backwards and glue it behind the bear.

 

Layered Polar Bear is great for other occasions too - like baby showers, birth announcements and birthdays.  His sincere, thoughtful expression looks so kind and understanding - he'd be great on a friendship or thinking-of-you card too. 

 

Cut the new Layered Birds from watercolor paper and a bright red 6x6 in the Berry Red Collection.  Assemble the birds - save the extra pieces for another project.

Cut turquoise cardstock with the 3"wide Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangles die.  Attach the diecuts to a turquoise slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½").  Add turquoise Christmas Fairy Crystals.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Congrats to the winners of the August Yellow Card Challenge!  Here's some inspiration for September's Falling for Fall Challenge.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with more new designs from our Fall '22 Collection.

It's like a Halloween Street of Dreams here  - with a trio of home designs to chose from.  Cut the new Rickety House and fence from the pale gray Earth Neutrals 6x6 Collection.  Cut just the house portion from the Creepy Cabin die from black cardstock.  Cut the house and part of the ground of the Haunted House Dome Layer from the brown 6x6 in the Earth Neutrals Collection.

Attach little pieces of the cream 6x6 from the Delicate Pastels Glitter Pad  behind the doors and windows of the three houses.

Cut the new Woodgrain Tree Trunk from a brown Earth Neutrals 6x6.

The Haunted Entrance Dome Layer die set includes great holiday icons.  Cut the ghosts from heavy white cardstock.  Cut the bats from a Black Glossy 8.5x11 sheet.

Attach the diecuts to an orange A6 card (4-½" x 6-¼").  

It's always fun to mix and match old and new items.  There are so many ways to combine classic favorite Halloween designs - have fun designing your Halloween cards, tags, treat wrappers,  layouts and  deccor.

Distressed, Glossy and Ghosty by Jean Okimoto

Add distressed spookyness to the trees from the new Ghosts in the Forest set.  The friendly ghosts and a glossy black Rickety House create a fun Halloween scene.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a fall design that's easy - and fun!

Pressure emboss the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper with the Ghosts in the Forest trees.  Place the diecut on a smooth, hard surface and brayer Onyx Black VersaFine over the raised sections - including some of the surrounding areas.  Heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.  Once it's cooled, diecut it.  This techique lets you keep a little bit of the original cardstock color along the edges of each section.

Trim it with the 3-½" wide Nested Globes die.  Cut a dark orange 6x6 from the Sunny Orange Collection with the same die.  Attach the orange diecut behind the trees.

Cut the ghosts from heavy white cardstock.  Attach black cardstock scraps behind them for the facial features.

Cut Rickety House from Glossy Black Paper.  Attach scraps of yellow cardstock - from the Sunny Orange Collection - behind the windows.

Attach the diecuts to a top-folded black A2 card - use foamdots for the ghosts.  Add dark amber Fairy Crystals.

Snowy Big Bear Hugs by Jean Okimoto

Send warm winter hugs with a plush felt polar bear, a snowy background and Berry Red heart garlands.  It can be a Valentine card - for anyone, any age.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here turning favorite fall and winter dies into heartfelt greetings for the special people in your life.

Diecut layers of white, red and Snowspeckle Wide Washi Tape on a dark gray background create a dimensional forest scene.  Cut Snowglobe Backer from white cardstock.  Cut Heart Streamer Globe from a red 6x6 in the Berry Red Collection.  Cut Winter Wood Done Layer from white cardstock.

Attach Snowspeckle Wide Washi Tape to the Earth Neutral dark gray 6x6. Save the outer diecut for another project - we're using the inner offcut (inside offcut?) here.

Trim the globe and dome dies just below the first scoreline at the base.  Attach the diecuts in the order show above.  Tie the layers together with silver cord and curl the ends using the edge of a bonefolder or a plastic burnishing tool.  Follow the curve of the cord for best results.  

Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) to white felt. It stablizes the felt and keeps adhesives from saturating it.  Cut the bear from the Snowglobe Backer set.  Define the eyes with a very fine-tipped screwpunch.  Attach black cardstock behind the face for the eyes and nose.

Cut the BIG Hugs background from pale gray cardstock.  Pressure-emboss it with the BIG Hugs die using the embossing mat and plate(s) required for your machine. Cut the greeting from a red 6x6 in the Festive Glitter Pad.  Assemble the layered greeting.

Attach adhesive label paper to red felt and diecut a heart with the 5-heart die included in the Heart Streamer Globe set.  Attach it to the bear.

Attach the diecuts to a pale gray A6 card (4-½" x 6-¼").  Add clear Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Cut an A6-sized sheet of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

If polar bears aren't common in your neighborhood - add a pair of lovebirds to your card instead.  Or a puppy!

Holiday Sleigh Ride by Jean Okimoto

 

 

Felt, floss, woodgrain highlights, Fairy Dewdrops and glittered cardstock add sparkle and dimension to a sleigh ride from the 2021 Holiday Collection.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a mix of textures, colors and little details.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to cream felt and diecut the horse from the new Horse and Sleigh set.  The paper backing stabilizes and felt and keeps adhesives from saturating the fabric.  Wrap red crochet thread or floss around the horse's neck and tie a knot.  Tie another knot about 2" away - it'll be hidden by the front of the sleigh when the card is assembled.

Cut the tree layers - from the new Snowman House Frame - from the green 6x6 in the Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad.  Assemble the tree and create a trunk with a small section of a flat toothpick.

Highlight the texture of the Kraft Woodgrain Paper (it's actually cardstock) with Pearlescent Chocolate Brilliance and an ink pod.  The pod skims the surface of the woodgrain cardstock and emphasizes the design.  Dry the ink and diecut the sleigh.

Cut the Garland 6x6 print with the largest Wrapped Stitch Rectangle die and attach it to a side-folded cream A2 card. 

Attach the horse.  Adhere the knotted floss with a drop of glue.  Attach the tree and sleigh - use foamtape for the top tree layer.  Add the translucent white Christmas Fairy Dewdrops.

Cut an A2-sized layer of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Build a Woodgrain Gilded Sleigh by Jean Okimoto

Thank you and Happy Veterans Day to everyone celebrating today!

The new Gilded Sleigh is now a whitewashed wooden sleigh ready to deliver a DIY Christmas tree.  Felt Resting Birds and Christmas Fairy Jewels add soft texture and sparkle to the Garland 6x6 print.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a holiday mix of classic favorites and designs from our newest release.

Use a large brayer - or an ink pod - to apply a layer of Brilliance Starlite Black ink to White Woodgrain Paper.  Ink pods resemble freeze-dried marshmallows - and skim the surface of textured and/or embossed designs to apply ink to the raised areas.  Dry the ink, then cut the Woodgrain Paper (it's actually cardstock) with the main Gilded Sleigh die. 

Sand the silver Polished Foil 6x6 sheet with a medium sanding block or sandpaper to give it a weathered, worn look to match the wooden sleigh.  Cut the runner and top trim from the distressed foil paper.  Assemble the sleigh.

Cut two big branches of the Pine Needle Trio from the green Festive Glitter Pad sheet.  Layer them - slightly offset - and trim the branches to create a Christmas tree.  Tape the tree behind the sleigh.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to red felt and diecut Resting Birds.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from saturating it.  

Cut the Garland 6x6 print with the largest Wrapped Stitch Rectangle die.  Attach it to a side-folded red A-2 card.  The bright red card emphasizes the wrapped stitches.  Assemble the card and attach green Christmas Fairy Jewels.

Cut the Joy and Cheer background from a sheet in the Lush Green Collection.  Cut the delicate words from the red Polished Foil Pack sheet.  

Add texture to diecuts and give them a bright new look - or as we did here, a weathered, vintage appearance.  Trim pine branches and create a Christmas tree too. It's easy to add special details and a unique look to your Memory Box designs!

Love Birds by Sara Cook

Welcome everyone!  Have a Valentines day card for those love birds out there. A scene inspired by the sunset that was half pink and blue. Perfect for Valentines card and the new Sweet Bay Collage die frame it.

Sky:

Take a 3” square white paper and blend 2/3 Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and 1/3 Spun Sugar Distress Ink.  

Birch Trees:

Die cut using Woodland Heart Frame out of 110 lb white card stock. Color the edges of the tress with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. Drag some color across the trees randomly to create the bark of the birch tree.

Humming Birds:

Die cut using Poppy Stamps Little Hummingbirds out of 110 lb white card stock. Color first, using Tumble Glass everywhere but the wings.  Then color the birds head and body with Peeled Paint.  Then color the wings with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.  I used a light charcoal pencil to  outline the feathers in tail and wings, color in the beak and added an eye. 

Sentiment:

Color 110 lb card stock 1/2 Tumbled Glass and 1/2 Spun Sugar Distress Ink. Die Cut using Sending Hugs dies centering the die between the 2 colors.  

Foreground:

Die cut Sweet Bay Collage die out of green card stock and fussy cut out leaves and steam.  Die cut the Sweet Bay Collage again out of brown A2 sized card stock   Glue the leaves and steam on the brown.

Assemble:

Glue the birch trees on the sky in the center of paper.  Glue the Sweet Bay Collage aligning it over the birch trees and sky background.  Glue the humming birds over the heart shaped branches.  Glue on the sentiment.  Mount on a A2 card.

Charming Snowman Collage and the Pinpoint Snowflake Plate by Jean Okimoto

The Charming (and popular!) Snowman Collage fits perfectly into the Poppystamps Oval Fold Frame.  Add frosty texture with the Pinpoint Snowflake Plate -   and a layered Birch Press Mod Alphabet greeting.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here on a frosty fall weekend.  I love Memory Box collage dies for their versatility and surprising results.

Cut dark gray cardstock with the Poppystamps Oval Fold Frame.  Crease the left edge backwards on the scored line, forming a hinge to attach the front panel to the back panel.  Cut white cardstock with the Oval Fold Frame.  Remove the large oval offcut and cut it with the smaller oval die included in the Oval Fold Frame set.

Cut the white panel with the Pinpoint Snowflake Frame.  Attach the pinpoint layer to the dark gray layer.  Cut a dark gray cardstock back panel with the 4-¼" x 5-½" Rectangle Basics die.  Attach the card front to the back panel using the hinged tab. 

Cut Charming Snowman Collage from the smaller oval offcut.  The bottom left edge will split apart - re-assemble it later.  Color the nose offcut with an orange marker.  Color the twiggy arms of the delicate offcut with a tan marker - color it all the way, up to the inside of the circle.   Trim the arms.   Define the eyes with a skewer or piercing tool.  Attach the collage to the inside of the card.  

Cut the scarf section from the turquoise sheet in the 6x6 Twinkling Jewel Glitter pad.  Attach the nose, arms and scarf. 

Cut a red glittered Twinkling Jewel bird using the Resting Birds die.

Attach the arms, nose, scarf and bird to the collage.

The Birch Press Design Mod Alphabet Clear Stamps and Die Set includes both narrow and wide alphabet dies.  Cut JOY from white cardstock with the wider alphabet.  Cut the thinner JOY from red cardstock.  Layer the letters and attach them to the frame.

It all sounds very complicated - but it's really easy.  These unique dies create a collage-y - but flat - card for easy mailing.  There's just enough space for your signature on the inside.

Create a Tri-Fold Fall Collage by Jean Okimoto

Layer the Wooded Glen and Little Orchard Collages and diecut a mix of tree backgrounds from 6x6 prints for a tri-fold fall card.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a collage-y, layered forest scene for a thank you or Thanksgiving greeting.  Here are the supplies for this card...

I wasn't sure if I wanted a tall slimline card - or a shorter version - so I started with the taller version, then shortened it later.

Trim kraft cardstock to 10-½"* x 6-¼". (*a correction!) Score it horizontally at 3-½" and 7".  Trim the corners with a corner rounder.  Cut Wooded Glen Collage from the front of the first panel on the left.  Cut Little Orchard Collage from the back of the center panel.  

Cut an assortment of tree backgrounds from the 6x6 dark red and coral Garland Stripes and Dots.  Cut more backgrounds from the dark maroon floral Garland print. (It's shown on the bottom left corner of the paper pack.)  Attach the backgrounds behind the tree trunks of both collages.

Stamp the greeting - from the Harvest Love and Kindness Clear Stamp and Die Set - on the smooth side of turquoise cardstock with Warm Breeze VersaFine Clair.  

Cut a 3" x  5-¾" strip of turquoise cardstock, round the corners and attach in to the third panel.  Attach the greeting with foamtape.

It needed a sparkly - but matching  - accent so I spread some Open Studio Sunlit Gold Glitter Glue on the dark red striped print.  Heat-set it in short bursts to prevent scorching.  Let it cool, then punch ¼" circles.

The tree collages are designed for layering - but they're also great on individual panels.  Little kids would love the little trees - maybe with a bear or deer from the Snowglobe Backer set added just for fun.

Create a holiday scene with interactive dies from our 2020 Christmas Collection - and the Resting Birds from many collection ago.  Mix and match your designs and enjoy the satisfaction of getting the most from your supplies.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a little composition of holiday icons.

Cut the base of the Vintage Sled from turquoise cardstock.  Cut the top layer from thin wood veneer.  Attach the veneer sections with ⅛" wide double-stick tape.  

Cut the deer - from the Snowglobe Backer set - from dark kraft cardstock.  Color the antlers, nose and hooves with a brown marker.  Attach the antlers.  Add highlights and spots with a white pencil.  Loop a strand of red crochet thread around the deer and tie a knot, then tie the other ends to the sled.  Keep the threads loose and curvy.  

Cut Resting Birds from red cardstock in the 6x6 Holiday Glitter Pad.

Cut the tree trunk - from the Pine Tree Collage set - from dark brown cardstock.  Cut the tree triangle from green cardstock.

Stamp the greeting - from the Spirit of Christmas Clear Stamp and Die Set - on white cardstock with Tulip Red VersaFine Clair.  Dry the ink, then trim the greeting with the matching die.  

Cut a white cardstock background with the 2-½" x 3-¾" Rectangle Basics die.

Attach the diecuts to a kraft A-2 card.

Think of all the different ways you can combine the Memory Box holiday dies. Diecut several of each design, cut some backgrounds and stamp an assortment of greetings.  Trim the greetings, fold some cards and you're ready to design unique holiday cards for everyone on your list. Greetings from the heart will be more important - and appreciated - than ever this year.
