Thanks Dad Card
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_5172

Hi everyone!  Today I have a quick and easy Father's Day card for you.

I started by creating an ink blended background and embossed it using the Toolbox 3D embossing folder.

IMG_5171

I inked the flat side of the embossing folder with black dye ink before running the blended background through the die cutting machine.

I cut the background at an angle and mounted it on black cardstock. I trimmed the cardstock leaving a border around the background and glued it to a white card base.

I die cut the word thanks once from black cardstock and once from gold foil cardstock.  I glued the gold foil slightly to the right of the black die cut to give it a slight shadow.

Next, I die cut the shadow for the word dad from black cardstock and the letters from gold cardstock.  I glued the gold letters to the shadow die cuts and adhered the word Dad to the card.  I glued the word thanks above the word Dad.

That's it for today!  Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's and have a great day!

Need a quick, easy and fail-proof card?  Memory Box Magnolia Rub-On Transfers add the perfect amount of color and detail to any design.  Add a dimensional greeting and sparkly pink Pastel Jewels...and your card is ready to go!  Hi, Jean here with a simple thank you card for a busy day.

Tape the 3-½" and 2-½" wide Nested Globe dies to natural cardstock and diecut them for a simple offset inlaid background.  Tape them together on the reverse side.

Cut the curved Magnolia Rub-On Transfer branch and its paper liner - leave a generous border around it.  Carefully remove the paper liner and tap the transfer onto the globe background.  Place it between two layers of printer paper and run it through your diecut machine using the base and cutting plates.  The transfer sets include a wood craft stick to burnish the design - but running it through the machine is great for burnishing too.  Carefully remove the frosty top plastic layer.

Squeegee glue between two pieces of natural cardstock and diecut the solid Thank You Posh Script background.  Pressure-emboss the background with the detailed top layer using the rubber embossing mat and plates required for your machine.  Embossing the background creates a debossed area that makes it super-easy to attach the detailed top layer.  Cut the top layer from the pink Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad 6x6.  Assemble the greeting.

Attach the diecuts to a top-folded pink A2 card - use foam tape for the greeting.  Add pink Pastel Jewels.

Magnolia Rub-On Transfers - paired with shimmery greetings and sparkly jewels - are great for any occasion.  Decorate a stash of backgrounds with the floral and foliage transfers.  Diecut coordinating greetings and have them ready when you need a quick card.

Thanks for visiting...see you in June!

Take the Magnolia Collection beyond beautiful magnolias...imagine a tall bouquet of yellow blossoms!  I've never seen yellow or long-stemmed magnolias but they're great for a thank you card.  Hi, Jean here with just another way to take advantage of the  versatile designs in our latest collection.

MemoryBoxMagnoliaBlossomTrio, MemoryBoxCrispBows, MemoryBoxVerticalLineCollage, MemoryBoxChristmasFairyJewels, MemoryBoxBigAndLittleWordsClearStamps, MemoryBoxSunnyOrange6x6, MemoryBoxVintagePastelMirroPad, JeanOkimoto, MemoryBoxCo, MemoryBoxDiecuts, FloralDiecuts, DiecutFlowers, HandmadeCards, CardmakingIdeas, Papercrafts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Cut 5 blossoms from the Magnolia Blossom Trio using an assortment of yellow 6x6's from the Sunny Orange Collection.  Daub VersaFine Verdant onto the center diecuts and the base for the tallest flower. Assemble the blossoms.

Cut Vertical Line Collage from green cardstock - the offcuts become stems here.  Attach the stems and angle-trim the bottoms.

Cut 2 bows from the Crisp Bows set from the gold Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad 6x6.  Trim the curled loops. Carefully pull each bow's vertical center strip away from the center.  Offset the bows and glue them together.

Stamp the greeting - from the Big and Little Reverse Words Clear Stamp Set - on light green cardstock with VersaFine Shady Lane.  Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.  Diecut it with the coordinating die that's included in the stamp set.  Tape the bow to the back of the greeting with foam tape.

Attach the diecuts to a white A6 card (4-½" x 6-¼") - use foam tape for several petals and the greeting.  Attach light green Christmas Fairy Jewels.  Cut an A6 rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Turn this basic design into a get well, birthday, congrats or friendship card too - everyone loves flowers!

Thanks for visiting - enjoy the weekend...

Magnolia Pocket Thank You Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I am really enjoying creating cards with the Magnolia release.  I have a front pocket card using the Curved Cap Pinpoint Layers dies decorated with the Magnolia Blossom Trio. You can add a greeting to a square piece of paper or put in a gift card.  They are simple to make and add to any card front or inside.

87D43860-A42C-4D44-BFC3-F47B157302D9_1_201_a

Flowers:

Die cut the Magnolia Blossom Trio from heavy weight white card stock.  I found that using a stencil sticky mate and putting the paper and die cuts on it makes for easy blending.  I use sticky notes to cover areas I don't want the ink on.  It makes it easy and quick to ink blend. I used 2 different shads of inks for the flowers, Clair Charming Pink and Purple Delight to get a lighter color for these magnolias.
For the leaves I used ClairGreen Oasis and Shady Lane.  I did some light bending of the petals using my fingers or a pencil.  I also used foam dots to pop up some of the petals.  I glued the pieces together referencing the front of the envelope.  It is also easier with the sticky stencil mat to keep all the pieces together.

B6058B6E-8094-4BD7-90C2-3DF1740E727E

Pocket:

Die cut the 3rd largest die from the Curved Cap Pinpoint Layers set twice from a light purple paper from the Magnolia Plaid paper pad.  Take 1 of the die cuts and use the 3rd from smallest die from the Circle Basic set and die cut from the center of the curved cap to create a notch.  This creates a spot to pull the item out of the pocket.  Add 1/8" double sided tape around the 3 straight sides of the dark side of the paper.  Do NOT add tape to the curved top. Add the the die cut with the notch on top, making sure the lighter paper is on the outside you can see the dark paper from the notch.

Background:

3D emboss A2 side white card base using the Magnolia Blooms folder. Lightly rub some Distress Oxide in Spun Sugar and Mill Lavender on just the tops of the flowers and leaves.

F1868E7A-4243-4986-96A3-472CD211CEFA

Assembly:

Adhere the background to a white A2 sized card.  Adhere the pocket to the center, tilting it slightly.  Adhere the flowers and leaves to the front of the pocket.  Die cut The tilted Thanks from the mirror gold paper from the Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad.  adhere over the flowers.  Splatter with some gold metal watercolor paint and add some Clear Fairy Drops randomly on the flower petals and leaves.

Cloud Thank You Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone!  I have a thank you card feature in the Cloudy Sun Collage die and alcohol inks.  This is a quick and easy design if used to using alcohol inks.

73AC91D0-8100-42FF-A95A-BEE8E9FB2D22_1_201_a

Front Panel:

Start with Tim Holtz Alcohol Paper.  I added some dark and purple alcohol inks and then added blending solution.  Used the hand pump air blower to move the ink around. Then added some lighter blue to blue/green inks and added blending solution.  Moved the ink around with the air blower.  Then I added some silver mixative alcohol ink lightly around the center using the die cut as a guide.  I added blending solution and moved the ink with the air blower.  Let dry.  Die cut with the Cloudy Sun Collage die.  Add double sided foam tape to the back of the die cut panel.

Background:

Ink blend a gradient using Distress Oxide Ink Squeezed Lemonade, Shaded Lilac, Tumbled Glass and Faded Jeans, making sure to ink blend each color really well.

Colorful butterflies flutter through a trio of collaged windows on a slimline thank you card.  The new collages - Distant Sun, Cloudy Moon and Cloudy Sun - create a layered, dimensional backdrop for the Intricate Mini Butterflies.  Hi, Jean here with more great dies from our Spring '23 Collection.

Score white cardstock horizontally at 3-⅝" and 7-¼".  Cut Cloudy Sun Collage from the front of the 3-⅝" panel. Cut Cloudy Moon Collage from the backside of the second panel.  Cut Distant Sun Collage from the front of the third panel.

Cut blue cardstock with the 3-⅝" x 8-⅝" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Attach the rectangle behind the Distant Sun Collage panel - align the left edges.  Trim the right edge.  Trim the top and bottom edges of the tri-folded card.

Prep the Intricate Mini Butterflies die by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help release the detailed diecuts.  Blend yellow, chartreuse, green, teal and blue inks on smooth white cardstock.  Dry the inks, then cut it with the Intricate Mini Butterflies die.  I cut two sets of the butterflies so I could select the sizes and colors  I wanted for the card.

The butterflies are just glued at the center, allowing the wings to lift at the edges.  Attach the 3 smallest butterflies to the blue area within the Distant Sun Collage.  Attach the 4th butterfly partially over the bottom edge of the Cloudy Moon Collage.  Attach the remaining 3 butterflies to the card front.

Cut Tilted Thanks from the turquoise sheet in the Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad.  Attach the greeting to the card and add turquoise Pastel Jewels

Tri-fold collage cards are fun to create - and receive!  Substitute birds or dragonflies instead of butterflies for a totally different look.  Or maybe a plush brown felt Layered Polar Bear holding a bunch of balloons just barely floating over the window collages?

Thanks for visiting - see you again this weekend...

A Feathery View
by Trina Pham

81780868-651A-499F-A9E9-9C8D1A7263E7

Hello everyone.  Using dies from the current 2023 February release, I created this thank you card.  To be honest I set out to do something else, but this resulted instead. 😂

Once again, I saw several watercoloring/painting reels on Instagram (IG) and wanted to give it a try.  Started by adding blobs of gouache paints on the smooth side of Memory Box’s watercolor paper in the order of the desired colors.

B0B6162A-8182-44AD-B5F8-76A8DF6CDE0B

Using flat watercolor brushes and as little water as possible, created a background wash.

505B0613-D781-435A-80F1-E7116D97FD14

Took a small round brush and black gouache paint and painted in the land mass.  Lightly splattered with diluted white gouache paint for the stars.  Also used white gouache paint to paint the moo and reflection in the water.

BBB2D93E-60CE-4634-996A-DBAD3BAD3F30

The artists in the IG reels painted in their own silhouettes.  I didn’t want to take the chance of ruining my progress, so I die cut my silhouettes from black cardstock using the Backyard Floral Stems die.

83F472AF-C54E-4BDA-8DDE-5F9C86489869

The Plumed Gypsy Feather background die was then used to die cut the feather aperture from an A2 size Bristol panel.  The detailed top layer was also die cut from Bristol and mounted onto the back cutout layer.  Die cut the Tilted Thanks sentiment 3x to stack for dimension, then assembled the card onto a white card base to finish.

599306FC-7E8D-40ED-A898-35F68A63F1CF

That does it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a lovely day.

The new swirly, curly, spiraled Curlicue Plate is quickly becoming a Design Team favorite.  It's great alone as a bold background - or highlight it with the new Plumed Gypsy Butterfly or Plumed Gypsy Feather.  Hi, Jean here with another butterfly card that just couldn't wait for warm and sunny butterfly-weather.

Trim an ink-blended (or watercolored) background to 4" x 5-¼".  Attach it to a top-folded white notecard.

Prep the new Curlicue Plate by rubbing it briskly with waxed paper to make it quick and easy to remove the offcuts.  Cut Curlicue Plate from white cardstock.

Cut the Plumed Gypsy Butterfly background from a shimmery purple 6x6 in the Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad.  Prep the detailed butterfly die with scrunched waxed paper, then cut it from the Rainbow Reflections sheet too.

Stamp the greeting - from the Sweet Christmas Clear Stamp Set - on white cardstock with Brilliance Pearlescent Purple.

Attach the greeting and diecuts to the card - use foam tape for the butterfly, and leave the outer edges unglued.  Add pale pink Pastel Fairy Jewels.

The Curlicue Plate is great for pressure-embossing and paper-piecing too!  Save a few of the offcuts if you're cutting it from colored or metallic cardstock. They create great design elements - especially the 3 main circular pieces.  We save everything, don't we?
