Cloudy Moon Sunset
by Trina Pham

03162DDB-3C42-466D-8303-9A501F088665

Hello everyone.  I’m back today with another CAS (clean and simple) card created with products from the 2023 February collection.

I was still in die cutting my own DIY stencil mode, so that’s what I did first with the Cloudy Moon collage die.  Collage dies give negative cuts and make this process very easy.  Positioned the stencil onto a Bristol panel and using blender brushes, ink blended Lumberjack Plaid, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed distress inks to create the sun.

Die cut the Backyard Floral Stems from black cardstock a couple times next and fussy cut them apart so they can be re-arranged closer together.

The Hugs Tender Script sentiment was die cut from black cardstock and gold Festive glitter paper next.  Thought about framing it, but kept it simple and used the A2 Rectangle Frames die to die cut the panel down instead.  Assembled the card onto a white card base to finish.

That does it for me.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Backyard Floral Stems, paired with a set of floral buds from Birch Press Design, create a bright garden greeting.  Hello, Jean here with a versatile design for spring, Easter or friendship cards.

The stems are perfect for any season - use them as background greenery, a  filler for bouquets or as buds and blossoms.  They're topped with the Birch Press Design Delicate Floral Buds Contour Layers here.  A jeweled felt Gentle Bunny adds a plush texture and sparkly bling.

Cut Backyard Floral Stems from Lush Green Collection 6x6 sheet.  Trim the top from the tall center stem.  Cut Delicate Floral Buds Contour Layers from 3 shades of Berry Red 6x6 sheets.  Cut a pale yellow 6x6 from the Sunny Orange Collection. You'll have a great supply of colorful layering buds for other projects too.

Cut the 4-¼" high Curved Cap Pinpoint Layer from a bright yellow-green sheet from the Lush Green Collection.  Attach the stems to the background.  Assemble and attach the buds.  The Birch Press Design set includes color-coded assembly directions of the detailed pieces.  The base layer of each bud is also lightly marked with assembly guidelines for you.  Or, rearrange the layers and create your own designs!

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to white wool-blend felt and diecut Gentle Bunny.  The paper backing stabilizes the fabric and prevents adhesives from saturating it.  Cut another bunny from watercolor paper or heavy white cardstock and layer it for dimension.  Add pink gems from the Pastel Jewels set - press them firmly onto the felt.

Stamp the greeting - from the Big and Little Spring Clear Stamp Set - on the pale yellow sheet with Green Oasis VersaFine Clair.  Dry the ink, then trim the greeting with the smallest Rectangle Basics die.

Attach everything to a top-folded 5-½" square card.  Cut a 5-½" square layer of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.  Square cards require extra postage.

Pair these stem and bud sets for greetings throughout the year.  Transition from buds to blooms in spring and summer to seed pods in fall colors. Cut the stems from black cardstock for a spooky Halloween garden scene in October.  Cut them in white or silver glitter for a frosty winter scene.

Imagine different ways to combine your Memory Box, Poppystamps and Birch Press Design products and take advantage of the great design elements in your stash!

Thanks for visiting - see you again on Friday...

Bunny Face and Rainbow Eggs by Jean Okimoto

Rainbow-colored Curlicue eggs surround a plush felt Bunny Face in a contrast of colors and textures.  The new Curlicue Plate is great for pressure- and heat-embossing in addition to diecutting!  Hi, Jean here with a quick and easy way to decorate a bunch of eggs in bright spring pastels for your Easter cards.

Blend Distress Oxides on heavy white cardstock - I've used worn lipstick, kitsch flamingo, salvaged patina and twisted citron.  Dry the inks.  Trim the cardstock about ¼" smaller than the Curlicue Plate so it fits inside the cutting edge.  Spray each side of the cardstock with a light spritz of water from about 12" away. Let it absorb the water for a few seconds.  Pressure-emboss it using the rubber embossing mat and plate(s) required for your machine.

Place the embossed cardstock on a smooth, flat surface and brayer Pearlescent Jade Brilliance ink evenly over the raised areas.  For best results and even inking - lift and roll the entire brayer over the inkpad about 25 times instead of using short strokes (which could leave dark blocks of ink in some areas).

Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder for a glossy, pearlescent look.  Unlike the smooth details of an actual embossing folder, this technique creates a rustic, hand-carved look.  Let's call this one rainbow-rustic!

Cut eggs from different sections with the 2" high die from the Half a Dozen Eggs set.  I inked, embossed and brayered several pieces of cardstock to create a bunch of eggs in different color combinations.

Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) to white and pink wool-blend felt.  The paper backing stabilizes the fabric and keeps adhesives from saturating it.  Cut Bunny Face from the felt and attach a scrap of  black cardstock behind the eyes.  Cut the mouth and nose section from heavy white cardstock.  Attach a scrap of black cardstock behind it to emphasize the details.  Bunny looks a little confused here - maybe he just emerged from hibernation and can't believe it's almost Easter!

Cut white cardstock with the 2" x 7" Slim Basic Rectangles die.

Stamp the greeting - from the Springtime Typewriter Sentiments Clear Stamp Set - on pale aqua cardstock with Warm Breeze VersaFine Clair.  Heat-set it, then trim it with one end of the second-smallest Slim Basic Rectangles die.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (8-½" x 3-⅝") - use foamtape for the 2nd egg, Bunny Face and greeting.  Add aqua Pastel Jewels.

Think of different ways to use the new Curlicue Plate in addition to basic diecutting and pressure-embossing.  It's also great for stenciling.  Save and use the offcuts as accents for other projects too.

Plumed Gypsy Butterfly
by Trina Pham

D72078EC-F19C-4672-AA57-2E769A341AAB

Hello everyone.  With spring a couple days away in the northern hemisphere, I have a spring card to share using products from the 2023 February collection.

Took the Rectangle Double Border hot foil plate and hot foiled a piece of Bristol paper with Silver Holographic Speckle hot foil using the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System.  Trimmed the piece to 4”x5.25”, then die cut the center out with a rectangle die from Rectangle Basics.  The new A2 Rectangle Frames set co-ordinates with this hot foil plate set and makes a nice tight cut to the foiled border lines, but I wanted more space from the foiled lines.  Next, the Plumed Gypsy Butterfly was die cut from Bristol paper and the back pieces were inked with Shaded Lilac distress ink (DI).  The top detailed layer was die cut twice to stack for dimension.

A26F6416-1C0B-4CCC-B8CB-0E8D0EF30EE3

The Floral Bud and Stems were die cut from alcohol marker friendly cardstock and coloured with Copic Sketch markers.  The background piece showing through the frame is also Bristol paper ink blended with Salvaged Patina DI. The Hello Rush Script sentiment was die cut twice from thick white paper and once from silver foil paper and stacked.

F5CAC05F-8684-4C79-B414-9B17C04FD1BE

Assembled the card onto a white card base, popping the frame up with foam adhesive, to finish.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Backpaint a Vellum Scribble Daisy by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxScribbleDaisy, MemoryBoxHugsTenderScript, MemoryBoxCurvedCapPinpointLayers, MemoryBoxBrightJewels, MemoryBoxGracefulGardenGlitterPad, MemoryBoxTwilightPurpleCollection, MemoryBoxOpenStudioWatercolorPaper, JeanOkimoto, MemoryBoxCo, MemoryBoxDies, DiecutFlowers, DiecutWords, VellumCards, Cardmakers, Cardcrafting, Papercrafts, GlitteredDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Here's a floral card with a technique that's fast, forgiving and foolproof!  The new Scribble Daisy is perfect for reverse-painting on vellum.  It's faster than paper-piecing, forgivingly painted on the backside and simply foolproof.  Hi, Jean here with a spring-into-summer design that would work in any color combination, for any occasion.

Cut medium-weight vellum with the 3-¼" wide Curved Cap Pinpoint Layer.  Cut the pale lavender 6x6 from the Twilight Purple Collection with the 2-¼" wide Curved Cap Pinpoint Layer.

Prep the Scribble Daisy die by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help release the little pieces.  Cut the daisy from Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  We won't be watercoloring it - but it's the perfect heavy weight for a bold outline. Attach tiny pieces of doublestick tape behind the top center - it'll be filled in with diecut yellow glittered cardstock.  Attach more tape to the flower's center, the leaf tips and where the stem meets the leaves.

MemoryBoxScribbleDaisy, MemoryBoxHugsTenderScript, MemoryBoxCurvedCapPinpointLayers, MemoryBoxBrightJewels, MemoryBoxGracefulGardenGlitterPad, MemoryBoxTwilightPurpleCollection, MemoryBoxOpenStudioWatercolorPaper, JeanOkimoto, MemoryBoxCo, MemoryBoxDies, DiecutFlowers, DiecutWords, VellumCards, Cardmakers, Cardcrafting, Papercrafts, GlitteredDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts
Flip it over to the reverse side and place it on a dark background (not purple or green!) - to make it easy to see and control the painted colors.  Paint the backside using diluted dye inks - Imagine's Pansy and Spring Green were used here, about 1 part of ink to 10 parts of water. Undiluted Distress Oxide refill inks can also be used.  Test the inks on scraps of the same vellum to see how they'll look.

Set it aside to airdry completely - heat-setting might warp or burn the vellum.

Cut the tiny pieces for the center of the flower from the light yellow 6x6 in the Graceful Garden Glitter Pad.  Attach them to the vellum background. Attach the vellum to the smaller Curved Cap Pinpoint Layer - narrow strips of ScorTape (or Couture Doublestick Tape) won't show through the painted areas.   Attach everything to a lavender notecard.

Cut the Hugs Tender Script background from green cardsstock.  Spritz both sides of it with a light mist of water to prep it for pressure-embossing. Pressure-emboss it with the detailed script background to make it easy to attach the top layer.  Cut the top layer from a green 6x6 in the Graceful Garden Glitter Pad.

Assemble and attach the greeting .  Add some sparkle with lime green Bright Jewels.

Thanks for visiting - backpainting vellum is a great way to brighten any outline design - try it in your favorite colors!

Hello with Scribble Daisy
by Angie Cimbalo

Hello and welcome!  It's Angie here today with a pretty spring hello card featuring new dies from the February release.

I used both the Hello Rush Script die 94468, the Scribble Daisy die 94617, along with the new A2 Rectangle Frames dies 94672.  The background was made with the Geometric Crystals 3D Embossing Folder EF 1016.

I embossed some cream colored thick watercolor paper with the folder and then inked the edges with light pink.  I also used that same watercolor paper smooshed with green and pink inks, and both white and black card stock to cut the sentiment and the daisy from.  Next I stacked them offset from each other for dimension.  I matted the embossed panel on a slightly larger black panel then added it all to the card base.  I finished my card with some Memory Box Pastel Jewels and Wink of Stella on the flower petals and the hello die.

The inks I used to smoosh with were Distress Inks in Saltwater Taffy, Twisted Citron.  I added a little  Walnut Stain to the bottom of the hello smooshed die with a domed ink blender.

Here's a closer look:

I hope you like my card for today.  I really love the soft colors and the puffy dimension look from the 3D embossing folder.  Please come back every day to see more inspiration from the design team.

Thanks for stopping by!

Introducing a New Collection from Memory Box
by Anne Thompson

I am beyond excited about a new release from Memory Box which debuts today!  There is so much spring goodness--florals, leaves, more sentiments, A2 rectangle and other frames, another hot foil plate, embossing folders with coordinating dies, and so much more.  I'm  sharing just the few things that I used to create this card:

IMG_1321 (1)

materials and steps to create this card

IMG_1321 (1)

choose one of the green plaid papers from MADRAS PLAID CORAL AND GREEN PP1013 to cover the front of a white notecard

die cut the CURLICUE PLATE 94698 from one of the bright green card stock papers in the LUSH GREEN COLLECTION SP1003

add the Curlicue Plate to the plaid paper--I used a Glue Pen

IMG_1321 (1)

die cut the GENTLE ROSE WATERCOLOR FLORAL 94713 from two coordinating coral papers from the MADRAS PLAID CORAL AND GREEN PP1013 paper pad and assemble the flower--I used that Glue Pen again; the base die makes impressions that help to put the smaller pieces in the right place and the images on the back of the envelope are also helpful for placement

IMG_1321 (1)

die cut the WAYFARER LEAVES 94712 from scraps of the same green card stock; later I added more leaves cut from the scrap of green plaid I had left

IMG_1321 (1)

add the leaves to the flower with glue dots or tape

cut a 1" strip of white card stock the width of the card; at this point I decided this would be a top-fold card

secure the flower to the right end of the strip using dimensional foam dotsIMG_1321 (1)

die cut the HELLO RUSH SCRIPT 94468  from a scrap of the same bright green card stock; add it to the left of the flower on the white strip

IMG_1321 (1)

use more dimensional foam dots or squares to add the strip to the front of the notecard

IMG_1320 (1)-ink

I am so ready for spring!  And you will be, too, once you start making things with the newest from Memory Box in the February 2023 release.

Happy Crafting!

Slimline Hugs and Flowers by Jean Okimoto

P1017291

Send special hugs with sunny yellow blossoms layered over a leafy slimline collage from Poppystamps. Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a  spring-into-summer design for any occasion.

Cut white cardstock to 8-½" x 4-¼".  Cut it with the Poppystamps Slim Leafy Collage - about 1-¼" from the left edge.  Score and crease it the cardstock vertically at ¾" to create a hinge.  Attach it to an 8-½" x 3-½" piece of green cardstock - for a leafy green background.

Cut Layered Cosmos twice from a medium-yellow 6x6 in the Sunny Orange Collection. Cut Layered Fresh Flowers from pale yellow and mustard yellow 6x6's.  Assemble the flowers - mix and match the centers.

P1017325 2

Cut white cardstock with the 6-⅛" x 1-⅛" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Attach the flowers to the rectangle.  Attach the rectangle to the card - don't use any adhesivebehind the flowers on the left side because it will be visible from inside the card.

Stamp the greeting - from the Big and Little Words Clear Stamp Set - on white cardstock with Verdant Versa Fine Clair.  Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.  Trim the cooled cardstock with the greeting strip die that's included ion the stamp set.

Attach the greeting to the background rectangle with foam tape.  Add the pale yellow Pastel Fairy Jewels.

Thanks for visiting our Design Team blog.  Hope we're inspiring you to create unique greeting cards for every occasion.
