Hugs in Bloom by Jean Okimoto

P1025149 2

Send hugs with Magnolia Rub-On Transfers - from bud to bloom - on a layered slimline greeting.  Hi, Jean here with a floral design in comforting shades of soft pinks and warm browns.

P1025137
Cut the magnolia buds and blossom and their paper liners from the transfer sheet - leave a generous border around each design.  Carefully remove the paper liner and press the transfers lightly onto pink cardstock - leave extra space to diecut the circles.  The Magnolia Rub-On Transfers sets include a wood craft stick to burnish the beautiful designs.  Or run them through the diecut machine to burnish the designs - between 2 sheets of printer paper and the base + cutting plates. Remove the frosty protective top layer then diecut the designs with the 1-½" and 1-¾" Circle Basics dies.

Cut light pink cardstock with the 6.7" x 1.7" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Cut the rectangle with the Vertical Line Collage die.

Cut the leafy brown Magnolia Grove 6x6 with the 1.4" x 6.4" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Attach the brown print behind the collage cutout.

Cut the Hugs Tender Script background from light pink cardstock.  Spritz both sides with a light mist of water, then pressure-emboss it with the detailed top layer of the greeting.  Pressure-embossing creates a debossed area to attach the detailed top layer.  Cut the top layer from the brown leaf print.  Assemble the greeting.

P1025142

Attach the diecuts to a light pink slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½") - use foam taper for the greeting.  Add pale gold Treasure Chest Fairy Gemstones.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

The Magnolia Rub-On Transfers look beautifully realistic over white and natural cardstock.  Layer them over pink, light lavender or light violet cardstock for a different look.

Thanks for visiting...have a great week!

Surprise someone you haven't seen in a while with the new Magnolia Blooming Bud, plaids and stitches on a simple slimline card.  Slimlines are my favorite style to send - and receive -  because the envelope looks boringly businesslike, but there's an unexpected handcrafted card inside.  Hi, Jean here with another great die from our best-selling Magnolia Collection.

Spritz heavy white cardstock with a light mist of water.  Paint it with loose overlapping layers of green, yellow and light orange inks.  I used the inks from my very vintage Melon Melody Kaleidacolor inkpad on a 6" square of the cardstock so I'd have an array of inky areas to diecut.  Cut Magnolia Blooming Bud - chose your favorite sections for the blossom.  Assemble the blossom.

Use a dauber, blending brush or sponge to ink the stem with Toffee VersaFine.  Color the leaves with mowed lawn Distress Oxide.  The die set also includes a large leaf - save that for another project.

Cut lime green cardstock and the diagonal green Magnolia Plaid 6x6 with the smallest Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangle die.

Stamp the greeting - from the Big & Little Reverse Words Clear Stamp Set - on light chartreuse cardstock with Shady Lane VersaFine Clair.  Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder and let it cool.  Cut it with the coordinating die that's part of the stamp set.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card - 3-⅝" x 8-½" - use foamtape for the top of the blossom and big leaf, and the greeting. Add  clear Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Cut a slimline-sized piece of cardstock to protect your card front for mailing.

I've never seen a yellow magnolia but the Magnolia Budding Bloom die set is great for blossoms in any shade of ink or cardstock.  The layers can be attached as shown on the packaging - or arrange them to fit the mood of the card.  Complete the design with all 3 leaves - or just a pair, for a lighter look.

Thanks for visiting - enjoy creating unique blossoms for your spring and summer cards!

Miss You by Jean Okimoto

P1024972

A new favorite - the Backyard Wren - visits the garden on a slimline card of soft pastels.  Hi, Jean here with a mix of fresh spring colors - and versatile design elements from our Magnolia Collection.

Diecut Backyard Wren from ink-blended or watercolored paper.  My stash included a piece of watercolored paper in soft overlapping shades of lavender, violet, teal and blue.  Color the beak - on the 'petal-shaped' diecut - with a yellow marker.  Add a dot of black nearby for the eye.  Attach the piece behind the wren's head.  Assemble the wren. P1024943

Cut Magnolia Leaf Branch from mint green cardstock.  Save the loose leaves - we'll use a few on this card.  Mask the leaves on the branches and sponge, daub or brush the stems with Toffee VersaFine.

Cut Magnolia Bud Trio from a 6x6 sheet in the Vibrant Violet Collection.  Cut the sepals from the mint green cardstock.  Assemble the buds.

Glue 2 layers of white cardstock together and diecut the Miss You Posh Script background.  Pressure-emboss it with the detailed Miss You die using the rubber embossing mat and plates required for your machine.  Cut the detailed greeting from mint green cardtock.  Attach the tiny dot over the "i" on the white background first (before it wanders off or disappears).  Attach the rest of the greeting - just add adhesive and press it into the debossed areas.

Cut white cardstock with the 2-¼" x 7-¼ Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.

P1024977

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card ( 8-½" x 3-⅝") - use foam dots for the tops of the buds, the wren's head and tail, and the right edge of the greeting.

Add the pale lavender Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Flip the clear gemstone backing sheet over to the reverse side to find the perfect color for your designs.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Backyard Wren is a great bird for spring and summer projects.  And he can be quite spooky cut from black felt and glittered cardstock in October!  Magnolia Bud Trio is versatile too - they can be rosebuds on your summer cards.

Thanks for visiting...Happy Mother's Day to everyone celebrating this weekend!

Magnolia Rub-On Transfers eliminate both coloring and diecutting the layers to create instant cards.  Just add a Magnolia Plaid accent strip, gemstones and a greeting.  Hi, Jean here with a simple floral design from our latest collection.

Leave a generous margin around each design and cut the buds and blossoms from the Magnolia Rub-On Transfer Sheet - cut through both the transfer and its paper liner.  Carefully remove the paper liner and tap the transfers onto smooth white cardstock - leave space between the transfers to diecut the circles later.

The transfer set includes 2 sheets of transfers and a craft stick to burnish the design.  It's also easy to burnish the design onto cardstock by running it through a diecut machine (between two sheets of printer paper) using the cutting plates.  Carefully remove the frosty layer.  Cut the designs with the 1-¼", 1-½" and 1-¾" Circle Basics dies.

Cut pale lavender cardstock with the 6-¼" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Cut a Magnolia Plaid 6x6 sheet with the same die - cut it vertically and include the top of the paper pad.

Stamp the greeting - from the Springtime Typewriter Sentiments Clear Stamp Set - with Purple Delight VersaFine Clair.  Dry the ink and cut the greeting with the second-smallest Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Trim the short end.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-⅝"  x 8-½").  Add lavender Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  It's easy to pick the perfect matching color of the iridescent gemstones - just look at the reverse side.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Sympathy Slimline Card featuring Magnolia Rub-Ons
by Angie Cimbalo

Card 1

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with a slimline sympathy card made with the brand new "Magnolia Rub-ons!"

Here's a closer look at my card:

Close

These rub-ons are amazing and beautiful, plus so easy to use.  I cut a card base 8" by 3.75" and rounded 3 of the corners with my corner rounder.  Then I pick flowers and leaves off the rub-on sheet and randomly added them to the card front.  It was so fast and easy and it looks amazing in real life!  They go on very easily, rubbing with your finger or the popsicle stick included in the package.

With product

The sentiment from "Big & Little Words" stamp set was heat embossed in white on black card stock and cut into a banner.  I popped it up on foam tape and added it to the top part of the card.  Here's one last look:

With product

This was probably the fastest card I've ever made and it looks so pretty.  If you've never used rub-ons, give these a try and even if you have used the in the past, I bet the didn't go on as easily as these do.  In a matter of seconds you have a gorgeous floral card with very little time and effort!

I hope you will stop by each day for more inspiration from the design team!  Be sure to check out the new release HERE.  And if you are interested in any of the supplies I used, you can find them listed on my blog HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Blossom from the Magnolia Grove by Jean Okimoto

Billowy flowering trees create a colorful backdrop for a fresh Magnolia Blossom from our latest collection.  Hi, Jean here with a spring slimline - and some very poufy trees.

Cut Birch Tree Trunks from light kraft cardstock - we're using just 3 of them today.  Cut the Gentle Rose Watercolor Floral background from a tiny floral print from the new Magnolia Grove 6x6 set.  Cut three more floral backgrounds from dark green cardstock. Layer them - slightly offset  - for treetops.  Trim one of them where it'll be attached along the fold.  Attach them to a pale lavender-pink slimline card (3-⅝"x 8-½").

The Magnolia Grove set has several other floral and leafy prints that would be great for this technique.

Tip - it's easier to color Magnolia Blossom's layers if they are pressure-embossed first, then colored, then finally cut out.  You won't have to chase the little pieces around to color (and/or misplace!) them - and you can apply the colors exactly where you want them.

Pressure-emboss Magnolia Blossom on smooth white cardstock using a rubber embossing mat and the plate(s) required for your machine.  Color the embossed designs with Pearlescent Orchid and Pearlescent Rust Brilliance inks using a sponge, dauber or blending brush.  Dry the inks, then diecut the pieces.  Assemble the blossom.

Cut the extra leaf/stem pieces - from the Vibrant Leaf Corner set - from green cardstock.  Attach the blossom and leaves to the card - use foam dots behind some of the petals.

Add pale lavender Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Think beyond-the-box, upcycle and repurpose your tools and supplies to get the most from your investment of these fun toys.

Thanks for visiting - see you in May!

Spritzed, Highlighted and Layered Birthday Wishes by Jean Okimoto

A mist of Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz accents the Gentle Rose Watercolor Floral and defines the details of the beautiful blossom.  The rose and Wayfarer Leaves match the cluster of flowers on the bottom left corner of the Garland 6x6 and create a birthday greeting for someone special.  Hi, Jean here sharing a quick technique that's perfect for Memory Box's layered floral die sets.

Cut the solid Gentle Rose Watercolor Floral background from a medium-toned red/coral sheet Berry Red 6x6.  Spritz a slightly lighter 6x6 with a fine mist of Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz - prop the cardstock up vertically,  shake the bottle vigorously and spritz!   Costco boxes with the cutouts are great spraybooths.  Dry the shimmery ink, then cut the cardstock with the layering pieces.  The illustration on the envelope - and the lightly-marked guidelines on the diecut - make it quick and easy to assemble the rose.

Cut Wayfarer Leaves with a medium green from the Lush Green 6x6 pack - attach doublestick tape strips behind the leaves to keep the center offcuts in the leaves.  Remove the lowest leaf from the large diecut.  Cut the lowest leaf from the smaller diecut and reposition it between the other two leaves.

Cut the Garland 6x6 print with a portion of the 7-½" x 2-½" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  That's a lot easier than measuring and cutting it - and hoping it's not wonky!

Glue two pieces of smooth white cardstock together and diecut the Happy Birthday Tender Script background.  Pressure-emboss the backgrounds with the detailed top layer of the greeting using the rubber embossing mat and plate(s) required for your machine.  Embossing the greeting background makes it a lot easier to attach the top layer.

Cut the top layer from the peach Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad 6x6.  Assemble the greeting.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½") - attach the rose with foamtape.  Add amber Autumn Fairy Crystals.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

The combination of Memory Box 6x6 color collections and Sheer Shimmer Spritz creates great layering and accent artpapers.   Add a beautiful luster without warping the sturdy 110 lb. cardstock.  A quick spritz is all you need!

Thanks for visiting...have a great weekend!

Rainbow-colored Curlicue eggs surround a plush felt Bunny Face in a contrast of colors and textures.  The new Curlicue Plate is great for pressure- and heat-embossing in addition to diecutting!  Hi, Jean here with a quick and easy way to decorate a bunch of eggs in bright spring pastels for your Easter cards.

Blend Distress Oxides on heavy white cardstock - I've used worn lipstick, kitsch flamingo, salvaged patina and twisted citron.  Dry the inks.  Trim the cardstock about ¼" smaller than the Curlicue Plate so it fits inside the cutting edge.  Spray each side of the cardstock with a light spritz of water from about 12" away. Let it absorb the water for a few seconds.  Pressure-emboss it using the rubber embossing mat and plate(s) required for your machine.

Place the embossed cardstock on a smooth, flat surface and brayer Pearlescent Jade Brilliance ink evenly over the raised areas.  For best results and even inking - lift and roll the entire brayer over the inkpad about 25 times instead of using short strokes (which could leave dark blocks of ink in some areas).

Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder for a glossy, pearlescent look.  Unlike the smooth details of an actual embossing folder, this technique creates a rustic, hand-carved look.  Let's call this one rainbow-rustic!

Cut eggs from different sections with the 2" high die from the Half a Dozen Eggs set.  I inked, embossed and brayered several pieces of cardstock to create a bunch of eggs in different color combinations.

Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) to white and pink wool-blend felt.  The paper backing stabilizes the fabric and keeps adhesives from saturating it.  Cut Bunny Face from the felt and attach a scrap of  black cardstock behind the eyes.  Cut the mouth and nose section from heavy white cardstock.  Attach a scrap of black cardstock behind it to emphasize the details.  Bunny looks a little confused here - maybe he just emerged from hibernation and can't believe it's almost Easter!

Cut white cardstock with the 2" x 7" Slim Basic Rectangles die.

Stamp the greeting - from the Springtime Typewriter Sentiments Clear Stamp Set - on pale aqua cardstock with Warm Breeze VersaFine Clair.  Heat-set it, then trim it with one end of the second-smallest Slim Basic Rectangles die.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (8-½" x 3-⅝") - use foamtape for the 2nd egg, Bunny Face and greeting.  Add aqua Pastel Jewels.

Think of different ways to use the new Curlicue Plate in addition to basic diecutting and pressure-embossing.  It's also great for stenciling.  Save and use the offcuts as accents for other projects too.

Drifting Feathers by Jean Okimoto

A trio of the feathers - simply stenciled - creates a glittery friendship card for a winter day.  Hi, Jean here with a simple design using DIY Plumed Gypsy Feather stencils cut from heavyweight vellum for easier placement and crisp stenciled edges.

Prep the small Plumed Gypsy Feather by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help remove the tiny offcuts.  Cut the feather stencil three times from heavyweight vellum.  Cut white cardstock with the medium-sized Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangles die.  Stencil the feathers with Distress Oxides - salvaged patina, iced spruce and kitsch flamingo.

Cut the feathers again from the pale blue Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad sheet and the silver Majestic Hues Glitter Pad sheet.  The pink-stenciled feather doesn't have a glittered layer - that's part of the "missing" theme.  (The Delicate Pastels Glitter Pad has a matching pink sheet if you want 3 glittered feathers.)

Glue 2 pieces of white cardstock together for dimension,  then cut the background of the Miss You Posh Script.  Pressure-emboss it with the detailed top layer of the greeting. Cut the detailed top layer of the greeting from the pale aqua sheet in the  Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad - leave the tiny dot for the "i" in the die (or on the cutting plate) till you're ready to attach it because it tends to disappear.  Embossing the background creates a debossed area to easily align and attach the top layer.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½") - use foamtape for the greeting.  Add the pale pinkish-violet Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Fuchsia, Pumpkin and Teal in the toolbox?  Yes, when they brighten a gal's slimline thank you with a happy Whittle Beaver!  Hi, Jean here with mix of old, new, blue, Memory Box and Poppystamps. I like a lot of open space on my cards - but these great design elements wanted to be together, filling the entire card.

The new Toolbox 3D Embossing Folder & Matching Dies and the Woodgrain Fence Pickets are from our '23 Spring Collection.  Cut the pickets from light kraft cardstock.  Cut the tools from the silver Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad 6x6.  Place them in the matching 3D Embossing Folder and add the details and dimension (one tool at a time is easiest!) using the plate(s) required for your machine.

MemoryBox3DEmbossingFolderAndMatchingDies, MemoryBoxWoodgrainFencePickets, MemoryBoxWoodenAlpha, MemoryBoxWoodGrainPlanks, MemoryBoxRectangleBasicsSet, MemoryBoxRainbowReflectionsMirrorPad, Poppystamps, PoppystampsWhittleBeaver, PoppystampsWhittles, PoppystampsWildAnimalSentiments, JeanOkimoto, MemoryBoxCo, Diecutting, SlimlineCards, DiecutTools, WoodgrainDiecuts, DiecutThankYous, DiecutAnimals, ToolCards, StazOn, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Mask the "metal" areas of each tool and sponge or daub the handles with StazOn Inks.  Airdry the first layer of ink, then repeat.  Colors used here are Pumpkin, Teal Blue and Fuchsia Pink.  Set them aside to dry completely.

Cut Wood Grain Planks from light kraft cardstock - we're just using a few of them here.

Cut the question mark - from the Wooden Alpha set - from light kraft cardstock too.

Cut the Poppystamps Whittle Beaver from dark kraft cardstock.  Lightly ink the edges and paws with Pearlescent Chocolate Brilliance ink.  Attach the fuchsia screwdriver between his paws.

Stamp the greeting - from the Poppystamps Whittle Wild Animal Sentiments - with Pinecone VersaFine Clair.  Dry the ink and trim the greeting with the second-smallest Rectangle Basics die.

Attach everything to a light aqua slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½") - use foamtape for the question mark and the beaver.

Make this card using different colors and greetings for your favorite DIY/fix-it/build-it gal or guy.  A toolbox card would be great for someone who just completed (survived?) a home renovation project too. The Woodgrain Fence Pickets can also diecut a great stencil for birthday candles...just some extra ideas!

Special thanks to everyone ordering my new kit - BLOSSOMS & BUNNIES - from Impress! They sold out quickly, I'm making more.

Thanks for visiting - see you on Friday...
