Easter Hello
by Trina Pham

IMG_5119

Hello everyone.  I’m sharing a circle shaped Easter card today featuring products from the current 2024 Spring Cheer release.

All pieces, including the sentiments, were die cut from white cardstock.  The lamb and flower centers were coloured/shaded with Copic Sketch markers and the rest were ink blended with distress inks (DI).

Copic markers used:
pinks - RV10/21/23
yellows - Y15, V01
whites/shading - T0/1/2/3

DI used:
sky - Tumbled Glass
grass - Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn
basket - see my last card
eggs & Easter sentiment - Shaded Lilac, Faded Jeans
hello sentiment - Black Soot

IMG_5120

The second largest circle die in the Circle Basics set was used to die cut from white cardstock.  Ink blended the grass/sky on it, then glued the elements onto it.  Trimmed off the overhangs before matting it to an Anemone Plaid pattern paper circle.  Mounted the circle to a white circle card base to finish.

That’s it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Magnolia Rub-Ons Sending Love & Hugs
by Angie Cimbalo

Special hugs main

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today using the newly release Magnolia Rub-Ons.  My first card uses the rub-ons with the Marvelous Magnolia 3D embossing folder with the 3 coordinating cutting dies.  I first dry embossed the white card panel and then added the rub-on on top of it.  Next I cut all three flowers out with the coordinating dies.  After that, the embossing was kind of flattened out, so I carefully laid all 3 cut flowers into the embossing folder right on top of the flower in the folder and re-ran it through my die cutting machine to get a nice deep embossed look.  To get more dimension, I cut a plain white one of each of the three flowers and glued the rub-on cut one to it so it would appear higher and thicker on the card front.

The frame for it was made with 2 of the Curved Cap Pinpoint Layers Dies 94646.  First I took the mirror card stock and embossed it with the same embossing folder, then cut the frame uses 2 of the curved cap dies at the same time.  This cut a real thin pretty frame for my flowers.  I tucked the flowered in the frame and then added the sentiment from All the Happiness CL5265, and some Christmas jewels.  Here's one last look at card #1:

Special hugs main

I also created a 2nd card with the rub-ons, and the curved cap dies.

Special hugs main

This time I used the curved cap dies to create my shaped card base.  I did this by die cutting a folded A2 card base but made sure the top of the die hangs off the edge of the card so it doesn't cut the top part of the card.  After it was cut I added the rub-ons directly onto the card front and then added the sentiment from the Berry Wreath stamp set, that was heat embossed in white on black card stock.  Here's one last look:

Special hugs main

I hope you like my cards for today!  I had a lot of fun creating with the new Magnolia release.  Be sure to check out all the supplies I used.  If you like to use my affiliate links, please visit my blog HERE.

Side Stella Butterfly
by Trina Pham

E3D6C2CF-AD79-477E-A2BA-62F78C8DFCF5

Hello everyone.  Today I’m stretching the Stella Butterfly from the 2022 May release to create a simple off-the-edge standard A2 size shaped card.

Took a Bristol scrap piece measuring approximately 4.25”x5.75” from my stash and drew a line across approximately 5.5” high.  Placed the Stella Butterfly background die at an angle straddling the line so only the left wing extends beyond the line.  Partial die cut above the line like this.

774955F6-17AB-498D-8A98-FBA17E0F545F

Trimmed along the drawn line up to the die cut part of butterfly to get this.

929A53C8-FA3F-4B74-99D7-DE2E8E7AD909

Embossed the bottom portion with the Gracious Leaves 3D embossing folder (EF) to give it some dimension

65E4F5E4-DE86-48D5-9CB1-8773C50C5552

The butterfly and sentiment were die cut from alcohol marker friendly cardstock and black glossy paper.  To turn the full butterfly into a side flying one, it was cut in half and one of the antennas was cut off.  Colored them with Copic Sketch markers RV02, RV04 and RV09.  For a bit of texture, splattered the butterfly background piece with diluted white gouache paint.  To mount to the card base, the flat edge of the partial die cut butterfly was aligned with the folded end of a white top folding A2 size card base.  Measure 5.5” from the end of the butterfly wing and trimmed using a paper trimmer.  Added some clear Fairy Drops to finish.

FC778996-FB25-4A6B-86FE-F1E55801135F
For some reason it looks shorter than 5,5” in length in the photo, but trust me it’s not. 😂  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful week.

Shaped Mailbox Giftcard Holders
by Trina Pham

7FDD3240-C7AA-4751-96B0-1D1AE2E03605

Hello everyone!  I don’t know about you, but I’m loving the 2021 spring release!  There are so many amazing products that it was a little challenging figuring ou where to start. 😂  But I ended up creating a shaped mailbox birthday gift card holder two ways, using the Nested Globes dies.

37693802-C9EC-4A6A-9C1E-D14366D7C0DE

First up is the more involved masculine version.  The largest globe die in the set measures 5.1”x4”.  I wanted to make it A2 height size, so the second darkest blue sheet from the Ocean Blue paper pack was trimmed to 5.5”x 4”.  The dome was die cut on the one end, leaving the other end untouched.  Next, took an A2 size white top folding card base and trimmed it down to 4” wide and approximately 1/16” shorter in length.  Partial die cut the dome part on the card base, ensuring the cutting edge extends past the fold like so...

0EE74FCE-3A93-43C8-88BE-EE4D113EFFFC

...resulting in this.

68C0328E-60D6-4408-BAEA-51209EE1F8A3

Next, align and adhere the blue piece onto the card base using temporary adhesive.  Use the third largest die in the set and die cut the “mailbox legs” using the straight end of the die.

FFD8B94E-577F-4442-9E2D-076A3328C500

With the Ocean Blue paper being 110 lb and my card base 220 lb. (110lb. folded), I was not sure if the die would cut through it all.  I ran it through a few times with shims and luckily it worked and didn’t break my machine. 😂

762857F0-4008-4D47-9A4A-6EE3C9033F8B

Using the same third largest die, partial die cut the blue piece like so.

AFC0C66A-ABA6-4BAC-8622-574784D123AF

Score between the two end points to create the hinged door that when opened will reveal the gift card.

483D841D-6598-4166-A216-28FC5362ABD3

To complete this gift card holder, the Birthday Mail Posh Script was die cut from the darkest colour paper in the Ocean Blue paper pack and from Bristol paper, then stacked and offset.  Used two dies from Rectangle Basics to die cut a frame twice from the first blue colour paper.  The handle were two 2.25”x0.25” strips each scored at 0.25” and 0.5” on one end and adhered to create a loop with each other.  Adhered the darkest blue colour paper to the card base behind the opening.  Added adhesive to the perimeter and assembled to finish.

685F5F18-C2D9-47BC-A529-E396DB6EA274

The second feminine version is simpler and the colours inspired by this month’s Pretty Purples challenge.  I made this one the same size as the largest die (5.1”x4”) and followed the same steps above to create the base and front.  But instead of a hinged door, I just used the smallest globe die to cut a mail slot for the gift card.

8AF69881-743A-4CFC-96D8-8245C6206451

The Spring Plaid and Twilight Purple paper packs along with the Glade Butterfly were used for this one. Everything is pretty straight forward, but if you have any questions, please leave them in the comments.

C6165775-FE5B-40C8-8EB5-45D5616F3047

And that’s it for me today.  Thank you for joining me.  Have a wonderful day.

Build a Pinpoint Burst Plate Birdhouse by Jean Okimoto

P1001186

The Pinpoint Burst Plate creates a dramatic background for any occasion.  Take it a step further and add texture to the Poppystamps Bird House Pop Easel Set.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a shaped card featuring great designs from Memory Box and Poppystamps.  My stash includes the Poppystamps dies and stamps I buy for my class kits - and I love sharing ideas for using them.

First - a sideview of the Poppystamps Bird House Pop Up Easel Set card - using the basic construction pieces and some extras.  A portion of the packaging shows the pieces included in the set.  It includes a cardinal, but we're using the Memory Box Singing Birds here.

P1001223

Cut the smoother side of Patina cardstock with the first die shown on the package.  It embosses wood panel lines too, but we don't need the lines - so turn the diecut over to the backside where the embossed lines are less visible. Cut it with the Pinpoint Burst Plate.

Cut the textured side of Navajo cardstock with the largest die and crease it backwards on the scored line.  Cut kraft cardstock with the second house layer.  Cut the snowy roofline and the entry ring from a white glittered cardstock sheet in the Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad.  Cut two sets of the pine brances from minty-green cardstock.

Attach the kraft house to the folded tab on the easel.  Add the other diecuts.

Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) to red felt and cut two of the Singing Birds.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt.  Attach the birds with foam tape - use two layers of tape for the bird on the right.  Add ¼" punched dots of the red glittered cardstock from the Holiday Glitter Pad.

P1001204

Stamp the greeting - from the Spirit of Christmas Clear Stamp and Die Set - with Tulip Red VersaFine Clair.  Cut it with the matching die.

P1001208

Cut the narrow "snowline" from the same white glittered cardstock and trim it to form a "stopper" to support the birdhouse.

P1001197

Here's the finished easel card, perfect for an A-2 envelope.  Hope you like it!

Special thanks to Ann at Impress Cards + Crafts and Roxanne at Stamps + Memories for buying my COOL WINTER WISHES Class Kits for your stores. Thanks also to everyone ordering their kits for holiday crafting.

Keep warm...thanks for visiting, see you again this weekend!

Combine Haunted Dome Layers and the Adriana Easel Set by Jean Okimoto

P1170421

Halloween somehow makes it OK to layer everything onto a single card - here's my example.  Layers upon layers and stacked, overlapped diecuts create a spooky scene for you today.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with the upright, intended version of an Adriana Easel card.

P1170449

Cut the card front and easel sections of the Poppystamps Adriana Easel Set from red-orange cardstock.

P1170429

Fold the narrow top tab of the easel backwards on the scoreline.  Fold the easel forward on the 2nd scoreline.  Press both folds with a bonefolder.  Pressure-emboss the card front with the leafy oval die from the Adriana set using the plates and embossing mat required for your machine.

Align and attach the card front to the folded easel - the tab supports the card front.  Cut the leafy oval from black cardstock and attach it to the pressure-embossed card front.  Embossing adds extra dimension and makes it easy to attach the delicate diecut as an inset layer.

Cut Haunted House Dome Layer from dark kraft cardstock.  Cut a ½" circle of the pale yellow-white sheet in the 6x6 Dedlicate Pastel Glitter Pad.  Cut the Haunted Dome Entrance Layer from the red-orange cardstock.  Trim both dome layers along the bottom scoreline, removing about ¼" of cardstock  Cut three ghosts - from the Haunted Dome Entrance set - from heavy white cardstock. Define the eyes using a piercing tool.  Attach a black cardstock scrap behind one of the small ghosts for the mouth.  The other two will be layered over the black background.

Cut the bat from theblack Frosted Glitter Pad 6x6 sheet.  Assemble the spooky scene by layering everything over the black background.

Stamp the greeting, frame and leaves from the Halloween Pumpkin Clear Stamp and Die set on orange-red cardstock with Onyx Black VersaFine.  Dry the ink then diecut the leaves and frame.  Shade the edges with Onyx Black ink.

P1170453

Cut the long, narrow easel "stopper" from the black glittered 6x6 sheet.  Cut another one from a cardboard scrap and layer them for dimension.

Hope you like the detailed, layered look of this card - definitely not CAS - but it's OK, it's Halloween!

Big thanks to everyone who ordered my SPOOKY, CREEPY + COOL Halloween class kits from Impress and Stamps + Memories.  Lots of diecuts, little pieces and techniques!

Thanks for visiting...see you again this weekend!

Glittery bats flying out of a candy bucket, a repurposed easel card and lacy fall foliage...are you ready for Halloween?  The Poppystamps Adriana Pop Up Easel Set - turned sideways - creates a leafy background for this fall scene.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a fun fall design.

Cut the Jack o Lantern Bucket face and handle from light orange cardstock.  Cut the plain semi-circle from dark gray cardstock.  Cut the bats - from the Haunted Entrance Dome Layer set - from the black sheet in the 6x6 Frosted Glitter Pack.

Prep the leafy background die from the Poppystamps Adriana Pop Up Easel Set by rubbing it briskly with a sheet of scrunched waxed paper.  It'll help release the delicate diecut and little offcuts.  Cut it from dark orange cardstock.

Cut the card front and easel sections from dark gray cardstock.  Crease the easel's tab backwards to support the card front and leafy diecut.  Attach the card front, bucket and bats.

MemoryBoxJackOLanternBucket, MemoryBoxHaunedEntrance DomeLayer, MemoryBoxHalloweenPumpkinClearStampAndDieSet, MemoryBoxFrostedGlitterPad, PoppystamopsAdrianaPopUpEaselSet, HalloweenDiecuts, ShapedCards, JeanOkimoto, EaselCards

Stamp the greeting - from the Halloween Pumpkin Clear Stamps and Dies Set - on light gray cardstock with Habanero VersaFine.  Dry the the ink and cut the greeting with the coordinating die.

MemoryBoxJackOLanternBucket, MemoryBoxHaunedEntrance DomeLayer, MemoryBoxHalloweenPumpkinClearStampAndDieSet, MemoryBoxFrostedGlitterPad, PoppystamopsAdrianaPopUpEaselSet, HalloweenDiecuts, ShapedCards, JeanOkimoto, EaselCards

Add simple designs - like the Jack o Lantern Bucket and bats - to a detailed background to balance the design elements.  The shaped card is actually designed to stand vertically, with a diecut piece serving as a "stopper" to keep the card upright.  Try that deisgn with the Jack o Lantern Bucket and these bats too!

The Poppystamps Adriana Pop Up Easel Set - turned sideways - sets the scene for Easter with the new Springtime Bouquet 6x6 Pack of beautiful pastel prints.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a card that went thru quite a transformation from Dave's original design.  I love sharing different ways to use our products - and unlike the usual infomercial disclaimers...DO try this at home!

The Adriana Pop Up Easel Set is designed to create a vertical easel card. There are even pieces for little "stoppers" to keep the upright card from flopping down.  I've used it horizontally - and replaced the beautiful botanical diecut with a garden print from the Springtime Bouquet 6x6 set.

Cut the large card base from white cardstock.  Crease the tab towards the backside of the diecut.

P1140175

Attach Scor-tape to the tab.  Cut the green 6x6 print with the background die, attach it to the card base using the tape on the tab.  Cut the new Wild Grass Border from green cardstock - trim the bottom edge with the Adriana background die.

We have two egg sets with small eggs to fit the grassy border.  I've used the Clutch of Eggs set - cut 5 of the smaller eggs from the white glitter cardstock in the Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad.  Color them with Sharpies or Copics.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to white felt and cut Gentle Bunny (and his tail) and Little Bunny Trio.  We're just using the two larger bunnies from the trio.  Cut felt tails for the other bunnies using a leather punch.  Attach the bunnies and eggs to the background.

Stamp the greeting - from the new Open Studio Big and Little Spring Clear Stamps Set - on white cardstock with Pearlescent Lavender Brilliance.  Attach the greeting - at an angle - with foam tape.

Hope you'll try different designs with the versatile Adriana Pop Up Easel Set!

If you're in the Seattle Area - join us for another SIMPLY ASIAN class at Impress on March 7th.  A simple origami fish, cherry blossoms, wide washi tape, new and old favorites, art papers - there are so many ways to combine Asian  and almost-Asian designs.

Thanks for visiting - see you next week!
