Casting a Spell Halloween Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I have a Halloween scene card featuring the Boiling Cauldron.  I use a nautical die, Kelp Collage, to create a cave.  I just love creating scenes and one of my favorite is Halloween scenes.

Die cut the Boiling Cauldron from black card stock.  Use just the cauldron and add some Distress Crayon Brushed Pewter to the center and blend out with your finger.   Add the Brushed Pewter to the top of the handles and blend downward.  Die cut the brew from a light and dark green Graceful Garden paper pad.  Adhere the lighter bubbling brew to the inside of the edge brew from the darker green.  Adhere to the top of the cauldron.

Cave Frame:

Trim the black Glitzy Glitter paper to A2.  Die cut the Kelp Collage in the center.  Trim off the kelp.  Add black foam tape around to the back of the frame.

Pumpkin Carriage Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  A limited fall release is here!!!  It is an exciting day.  I took the new Autumn Pumpkin and Fanciful Gilded Frame dies and created a pumpkin carriage.  I also used the Majestic Achievements stamp set for the sentiment.  I have so many more ideas with the pumpkin carriage and this stamp set and the castle collage dies.  I wish there was more time in the day.

Pumpkin Carriage

Die but the leaves and vine portion of Autumn Pumpkin die from orange paper from the Rainbow Reflections Mirror pad. Die cut the Autumn Pumpkin from light orange card stock. Use a darker alcohol marker on the cut outlines and bottom and top of pumpkin.  Then lightly blend in.  I used Copic YR02.  To create the door opening, die cut the center of the pumpkin using the smallest die from Nested Globe dies.  Potion the top plate of your die cutting machine so it only cuts half way down then use a craft knife and ruler to cut the door out.    Die cut the smaller die from the nested Globe die set from the same orange mirror paper.  Reposition the die to cut cut out the bottom to look like the door.  Add tape to the bottom half of the door opening on the backside, sticky part forward, then add in the mirror door.  Die cut half of the Fanciful Gilded Fram from the same orange mirror paper.  Trim off the largest flourishes.  Adhere them to lower sides of the pumpkin to make it look like wheels.  Adhere the leaves and vine to the top of the pumpkin.

Background:

Die cut an oval from cream card stock using the 2nd to largest die from the Poppy Stamp Basic Ovals Set. Stamp the Mercer Rose Background stamp over all the oval using a gold ink pad.  Heat set dry.  Then rub the gold in pad around the outside edge of the die cut.

Sentiment:

Heat emboss May all your DREAMS come true sentiment from the Majestic Achievements using a copper embossing powder.  I have one from many, many years ago and don't think the company is in business any more.  But any copper or orange embossing powder will work.  Cut to size and edge with the same alcohol marker as used to shade the pumpkin.

Assembly:

Adhere the oval background to a A2 sized cream card base.  Adhere the pumpkin carriage to the center and the sentiment with foam tope under the pumpkin.

Stencilled Gracious Floral Birthday
by Trina Pham

IMG_1555

Hello everyone.  This was a birthday card I made for a crafty friend whose birthday was last Sunday.  I used the Gracious Floral stamp with the focus on the coordinating layering stencil set from the Gracious Floral collection.  As Laura mentioned in a previous post, there is a guide to help with coloring the floral image using these stencils, but unfortunately, I lost/misplaced mine.  Luckily, it was easy enough to figure out.

The image was stamped with Fadeout ink onto white cardstock because I wanted a no-line coloring look.  A light neutral dye ink, such as Antique Linen distress ink, could be used instead.  Gradient colors of dye inks in purple, yellow and green were then applied with blending brushes through the stencils.  After the stencilling was complete, Polychromos pencils were then used to shade and/or color it further to give it more/better definition and dimension.  I did take creative licence, skipping the top stencil layer on the large leaves, so I can add in my own details. 😉

IMG_1558

The image was die cut out next using the coordinating die, then cut apart to “stretch” diagonally across the card front.  Heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder onto a scrap of black cardstock before die cutting it out with a Poppy Stamps Basic Oval die.  Assembled the card onto a white card base, then added clear shimmer on the flowers and some clear jewels for a bit of sparkle to finish.

IMG_1559

That does it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Just Because Gracious Floral
by Trina Pham

IMG_1395

Hello there.  I have a simple card to share today featuring the new gorgeous Gracious Floral stamp and die.  There are coordinating stencils and embossing folder (EF), but since I love to color, especially florals, I simply stamped the image with a gray alcohol marker friendly ink on alcohol marker friendly cardstock, colored with Copic Sketch markers, then die cut out with the matching die.

Copic markers used:
yellows - Y11/13/15/17/19
greens - G40/12,YG07/09, G09
whites - W3
brown center - E25/35 + white gel pen

IMG_1396

The sentiment was heat embossed with white embossing powder on black card stock, then die cut out with its matching die.  Bristol paper was then die cut with the Penelope Pinpoint Frame die from Poppy Stamps for a white-on-white background.  Assembled the card onto a white card base, and added clear shimmer to the yellow flowers for some sparkle to finish.

IMG_1398

My card was straight forward, but as you may have noticed from previous posts, there are so many possibilities when incorporating the stencils and/or EF.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Toolbox
by Trina Pham

IMG_1259

Hello everyone.  Happy Father’s Day to all the fabulous fathers / father figures celebrating today.  Since losing my dad a couple years ago, I have stopped making Father’s Day specific cards, but masculine cards are always handy to have.  I am using the Toolbox 3D embossing folder (EF) with coordinating dies from the 2023 Spring collection to create a simple masculine card good for many occasions.

The toolbox was created from Kraft woodgrain paper.  The back base layer is 3”x1.5” and the two boards are 3”x0.75”.  Inked and shaded them with Kraft dye ink and/or Gathered Twigs distress ink.  For the handle, started with a 3”x1” piece and die cut with the smallest A2 Rectangle Frames die.  When assembling it, left a small space in between the boards.  Used a circle hole punch to punch from brown cardstock for the nails.

IMG_1260

The tools were die cut from silver Pastel Mirror paper and various color cardstock using the coordinating EF dies.  Ran all the pieces through the die cutting machine in the EF to give them details and dimension.  I think next time instead of die cutting fromin different color cardstock, I would just die cut from white and color the necessary parts in with Copic markers.  The background panel is white woodgrain paper dry embossed with the Toolshed 3D EF.  White heat embossed the sentiment from Poppy Stamps Birthday Blowout on black cardstock, then assembled the card onto a white card base to finish.

IMG_1261

That does it for my card today.  Thank you for joining me.  Have a wonderful week.

Blue Magnolias Just For You
by Trina Pham

IMG_0875

Hello everyone.  I’m still working my way through the gorgeous April 2023 Magnolia collection and couldn’t resist creating a blue monochromatic card!

The Backyard Wren, magnolia flowers and foliage were all die cut from white cardstck.  The foliage (leaves and stems) were colored with B32/34/37/39 Copic Sketch markers.  Ink blending with finger brushes was done to color the wren and magnolias.  Tumbled Glass distress oxide ink was used for the magnolias while Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean, Lost Shadow and Black Soot distress inks were used for the wren.

IMG_0876

Stretched the Curved Cap Pinpoint die and partial die cut it to get the curve shape on both ends.  Heat embossed the sentiment from Poppy Stamps Birthday Blowout with gold embossing powder.  Assembled the card onto a white woodgrain A2 size panel, then added highlights with a white gel pen and clear shimmer on the magnolias for some sparkle to finish.

IMG_0877

This card was inspired by this month’s For the Birds challenge ending at 11:59 pm EST on May 30… so there is still time to get your entry in.  That concludes my post.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Combine new designs from our latest release with the April Challenge - Sky's the Limit - and a bit of Poppystamps Whittle Sunshine.  Hi, Jean here with a double-collage all-occasion design in soft spring pastels. It could be a friendship card, send a note of encouragement, celebrate a special moment or welcome a new baby.

Cut, score and fold a 5.5" square white card.  Diecut Cloudy Moon Collage from the card front.  Cut Distant Sun Collage from the inside.  Back it with a 5.5" square of pale blue cardstock.

Diecut the Poppystamps Whittle Sunshine from pale yellow cardstock.

Diecut Curved Magnolia Branch from minty green cardstock.  Trim and save the leaf that would be hidden by Backyard Wren - it'll be repositioned later.

Diecut Magnolia Bud Trio from pale lavender cardstock and assemble the blossom and bud.  The small triple-pointed sepal will be a tiny bud.

Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) to blue wool-blend felt to stabilize it and prevent adhesives from saturating it.  Cut Backyard Wren's  main section.  Cut it again from white cardstock - it'll be layered behind the assembled bird later.  Cut the wings from the shimmery turquoise Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad 6x6.

Cut the beak section from yellow cardstock and use a black marker to fill the area that will become the eye.

Assemble Backyard Wren and attach the plain white diecut behind it for a neater back-view when the card is opened.

Attach the diecuts to the card - add the saved leaf near the center of the curved branch.  Use a foam dot behind the tip of the large wing.

Add turquoise Christmas Fairy Dewdrops.  Cut a 5.5" square of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.  Square cards require extra postage and special handling.

Thanks for visiting...have a great weekend!

Rectangle Duo Border Birthdays
by Trina Pham

084B10E5-E88E-4534-90E0-233054CE56B9
Hello and happy Easter!  No Easter card today.  Instead I used the Rectangle Duo Border hot foil plate two ways to create two simple birthday cards.

EE667BAA-F7F6-479F-91C6-3B4353DAC905

On this first card, the hot foil plate foiled the double line frame as it is intended using gold hot foil.

7713338A-02CC-43F0-8869-A04073B56DBE

The peonies were die cut from white cardstock and colored with Shaded Lilac distress ink using a finger blending brush.  The leaves were colored with YG61, YG63 and YG67 Copic Sketch markers.  For some sparkle, spritz the peonies with a shimmer spray.

AE7EE3BD-92F5-4D68-B042-CDE2302BE2F2

On the second card, the hot foil plate was flipped and the backside was foiled resulting in a thick solid frame.  It doesn’t foil as cleanly and it took a few tries to get this result… but it worked and is one way to stretch your hot foil plate.  😉

ABBA7439-1CD3-4E57-AC7A-B2A36E7B28E5

Kept it really simple as a masculine card and did some partial hot foiling with the Confetti Dot hot foil plate.  Heat embossed the sentiments with gold embossing powder on both cards to finish.

6F6A87B3-CBE0-47AE-9131-94D2702B6B69

No matter what I tried, I could not get another decent photo of the confetti card. 🤷🏻‍♀️   Anyway. Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Fuchsia, Pumpkin and Teal in the toolbox?  Yes, when they brighten a gal's slimline thank you with a happy Whittle Beaver!  Hi, Jean here with mix of old, new, blue, Memory Box and Poppystamps. I like a lot of open space on my cards - but these great design elements wanted to be together, filling the entire card.

The new Toolbox 3D Embossing Folder & Matching Dies and the Woodgrain Fence Pickets are from our '23 Spring Collection.  Cut the pickets from light kraft cardstock.  Cut the tools from the silver Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad 6x6.  Place them in the matching 3D Embossing Folder and add the details and dimension (one tool at a time is easiest!) using the plate(s) required for your machine.

MemoryBox3DEmbossingFolderAndMatchingDies, MemoryBoxWoodgrainFencePickets, MemoryBoxWoodenAlpha, MemoryBoxWoodGrainPlanks, MemoryBoxRectangleBasicsSet, MemoryBoxRainbowReflectionsMirrorPad, Poppystamps, PoppystampsWhittleBeaver, PoppystampsWhittles, PoppystampsWildAnimalSentiments, JeanOkimoto, MemoryBoxCo, Diecutting, SlimlineCards, DiecutTools, WoodgrainDiecuts, DiecutThankYous, DiecutAnimals, ToolCards, StazOn, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Mask the "metal" areas of each tool and sponge or daub the handles with StazOn Inks.  Airdry the first layer of ink, then repeat.  Colors used here are Pumpkin, Teal Blue and Fuchsia Pink.  Set them aside to dry completely.

Cut Wood Grain Planks from light kraft cardstock - we're just using a few of them here.

Cut the question mark - from the Wooden Alpha set - from light kraft cardstock too.

Cut the Poppystamps Whittle Beaver from dark kraft cardstock.  Lightly ink the edges and paws with Pearlescent Chocolate Brilliance ink.  Attach the fuchsia screwdriver between his paws.

Stamp the greeting - from the Poppystamps Whittle Wild Animal Sentiments - with Pinecone VersaFine Clair.  Dry the ink and trim the greeting with the second-smallest Rectangle Basics die.

MemoryBox3DEmbossingFolderAndMatchingDies, MemoryBoxWoodgrainFencePickets, MemoryBoxWoodenAlpha, MemoryBoxWoodGrainPlanks, MemoryBoxRectangleBasicsSet, MemoryBoxRainbowReflectionsMirrorPad, Poppystamps, PoppystampsWhittleBeaver, PoppystampsWhittles, PoppystampsWildAnimalSentiments, JeanOkimoto, MemoryBoxCo, Diecutting, SlimlineCards, DiecutTools, WoodgrainDiecuts, DiecutThankYous, DiecutAnimals, ToolCards, StazOn, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Attach everything to a light aqua slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½") - use foamtape for the question mark and the beaver.

Make this card using different colors and greetings for your favorite DIY/fix-it/build-it gal or guy.  A toolbox card would be great for someone who just completed (survived?) a home renovation project too. The Woodgrain Fence Pickets can also diecut a great stencil for birthday candles...just some extra ideas!

Special thanks to everyone ordering my new kit - BLOSSOMS & BUNNIES - from Impress! They sold out quickly, I'm making more.

Thanks for visiting - see you on Friday...

Doesn't it seem like we just celebrated Christmas...and now Valentine's Day is a week away? Here's a design that could be a quick Valentine - or a friendship card.  It's also some inspiration for February's Memory Box Challenge - this month's theme is "I'll drink to that."  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with slimline that's a mix of Memory Box and Poppystamps designs.

It's great that the little Cuppa Love heart can be perfectly aligned with the 4th heart from the bottom of the Sprinkle Heart Collage!  I think it looks like the collage hearts are floating out of the coffee cup.  Yes or no??

Cut gray cardstock with the 1-½" x 6-½" Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangles die.  Cut the rectangle with Sprinkle Heart Collage.

MemoryBoxCuppaLove, MemoryBocSprinkleHeartCollage, MemoryBoxWrappedStitchedSlimRectangles, MemoryBoxPastelJewels, MemoryBoxGracefulGardenGlitterPad, PoppystampsPlayfulHug, JeanOkimoto, SlimlineCards, ValentineCards, HeartCards, CoffeeCards, HandmadeValentines, Diecutting, HeartDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Cut bright pink cardstock with the same rectangle die, then trim a little from the top and both sides so it'll fit behind the heart collage.  No guessing or measuring needed!

Here's an easy way to add the coffee.  Cut Cuppa Love from natural cardstock.  Attach Scor-Tape to the oval coffee insert die and cut the oval from brown cardstock.   Attach the (self-adhesive) brown oval behind the surface of the coffee cup and sprinkle that section with detail clear embossing powder.  Heat-emboss it.  It'll be glossy, like hot coffee (or really dark chocolate) - and adhered too.

Cut the cup insert from lighter pink cardstock.  Cut the Cuppa Love heart from a pink sheet in the Graceful Garden Glitter Pad.

Attach Scor-Tape behind a scrap of the bright pink cardstock and cut the Poppystamps Playful Hugs.

Attach the diecuts to a gray slimline card (3-½" x 8-½").  Add jewels from the Pastel Fairy Jewels set - these are from the first column of the jewels.  Cut a slimline-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Big thanks to everyone who ordered my LOVE...Simply Stated card kits from Impress - hope you liked the designs!

Thanks for visiting...have a great weekend!
