Happy 2023! Here's to a fresh new year - and new designs to greet, celebrate, thank and remember special occasions and everyday moments.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with an improvised Valentine candy box idea - and timesaving shortcuts for special greetings.

MemoryBoxLoveYouGalleryScript, MemoryBoxChristmasJolly6x6, MemoryBoxSlimBasicRectangleLayers, MemoryBoxDoubleStitchLovingHeartCutOut, MemoryBoxBerryRed6x6, MemoryBoxRainbowReflectionsMirrorPad, MemoryBoxChristmasFairyDewdrops, PoppystampsGrosgrainBow, PoppystampsPoeticLowercaseAlphabet, MemoryBoxCo, MemoryBoxDiecuts, Cardcrafting, DiecutCards, HeartCards, HandmadeValentines, ValentineDiecuts, AlphabetDiecuts, SlimlineCards, JeanOkimoto, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Here's the rest of the greeting - using Poppystamps' versatile Poetic Lowercase Alphabet.  Let's do the card front first...

Cut the Christmas Jolly red/black/gold plaid with the second-largest Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out Die.  We're using just the simple inner heart - the stitching details create a separate outline.  Cut a dark red 6x6 from the Berry Red Collection too.

Cut two of the smallest Slim Basic Rectangle Layers from the bright red Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad 6x6.  Tape the slim strips perpendicular to each other and trim the ends with the Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out Die.  Cut the Poppystamps Grosgrain Bow from the red mirror cardstock too.

Stack the heart diecuts with the bottom layer offset to the right to resemble a heart-shaped candy box.  Attach the red strips and grosgrain bow.

Cut light kraft cardstock with the 2-¼" x 7-¼" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Cut the rectangle with the Love You Gallery Script background.  Attach narrow strips of doublestick tape behind the greetings cutout. Three narrow strips vs. a solid block of tape provides some wiggle-room to adjust the delicate word outline and letters.

Cut the detailed Love You Gallery Script from light Kraft cardstock - save the inner letters for another project.  Cut it again from a bright red Berry Red 6x6 - save the outline for another project.

Attach the light Kraft outlines to the taped background, then add the red letters and hearts.  It's quick and easy with doublestick tape!

Attach the diecuts to a light Kraft slimline card - use foamtape to attach the heart candy box.  Add red Christmas Fairy Dewdrops.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle to cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Here's an easy way to diecut and attach the "more than chocolate" greeting.  Cut the entire set of Poppystamps Poetic Lower Case Alphabets from the same dark red cardstock used for the base of the heart candy box.  You'll have all of the letters you need - and many more for other greetings.

Attach Scor-Tape to light Kraft Cardstock and cut the smallest Slim Basic Rectangle.  Attach the letters to the Scor-Tape covered strip - save the tapeliner and use it to press the letters firmly onto the strip.  Spoon detail clear embossing powder over the strip, to cover the remaining exposed tape.  Tap the excess powder off.   Heat-emboss it.  The letters will be straight, even and securely attached.  Glue the greeting strip inside the card.

A lot of details and techniques here - hope you like the card!  Thanks for visiting...see you again on Friday!

Merry Christmas with Pine Needle Frame Die
by Angie Cimbalo

MC 1 snow

Hello and welcome! It's Angie here today featuring a card using the "Pine Needle Frame" die. This die has two dies, the frame and another die to cut some extra pine needles.

MC 1 snow

I started out by smooshing Distress Inks onto a large piece of watercolor card and then used it to die cut two frames from the watercolor paper. I also cut one from some dark green from the "Lush Green" paper pack.  I used the inside parts of the frame along with the dark green pine leaves to paper piece together for a cool look.

As we go through the steps on making this card I have pictures of the card plain, then followed by the same card with added snow embossing powder on it. Below you can see the picture of the same card but with added melted snow on it.

MC 1 snow

The sentiment was cut from Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad red paper and from white and stacked for dimension with the "Merry Christmas Curled Script" die. I added "Christmas Fairy Dew Drops" in red in clusters of 3 to simulate berries around the card front. And here's a close up look at it without snow and with snow.

I hope you enjoyed my card for today! Check out all the wonderful products from Memory Box HERE!

Warm Wishes
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_2496

Good morning everyone!  Today's card features some of the new products from the Memory Box 2022 Christmas release.  I love the little snowman die and it's perfect for paper piecing.

To make this card, I began by die cutting one of the nested globes from a light blue cardstock.  I used Stormy Sky Distress Oxide Ink to deepen the color of the die cut.  I glued it to a white cardstock panel, adhered it to a black cardstock mat and mounted it to a white card base.

I die cut the trees from 2 shades of green cardstock and glued the highlight piece on top of the darker green tree.  Next, I glued them to the blue globe die cut.

I die cut the snowman body and the hat brim from dark gray, light gray and white cardstock and glued them on top of each other.  I colored the nose with an orange marker and the eyes with a black marker.  The cheeks were done with a pink pencil and the buttons are black Nuvo Drops.  I also glued a white pompom to his hat.

The scarf and hat were die cut from the new Christmas Jolly paper pad and pieced together, then glued to the snowman.  I used foam tape to adhere him in front of the trees.

IMG_2499

I spattered the card with white paint for the look of falling snow.

I stamped the greeting on a white cardstock strip and mounted it on a larger black cardstock mat.  I used foam tape to adhere it to my card.

That's it for today!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Hi everyone,  Jean Okimoto here with a Valentine design that's a bit wonky and unusual - but I hope you like it!  Do you save offcuts and bits and pieces "for future projects" but forget to use them?  Here's a design using the gold foil Ring Stack and 2 sets of offcuts (red and white).

Cut white cardstock with the second-largest Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangles die.  Cut the rectangle with the Ring Stack - we're using the white offcuts here too.

Cut gold Polished Foil 6x6 with Ring Stack - save the gold offcuts for that elusive "future project."

Here's an easy way to build a smooth inlaid background.  Place the rectangle face-down on a non-stick surface (used a plastic embossing plate here).  Attach ⅛"  (3mm) strips of lined doublestick tape to the reverse side of the diecut rectangle.  Skinny strips of tape instead of an entire adhesive-covered area provide a little wiggle-room for paper-piecing.

Flip it over and place the gold foil Ring Stack into the adhesive-backed cutouts.  Attach the white oval offcuts.

Cut a bright red 6x6 from the Berry Red Collection. Tape pairs of red ovals to form 3 hearts in graduated sizes.  Attach the hearts with foamtape.

Cut Love Airy Script from the bright red Festive Glitter 6x6  sheet.

Cut black cardstock with Mini Vintage Varsity Alphabet.  You can cut 4 sets of GROWS at once.  Use a stack of 3 or 4 Post-It notes as a straight edge guide to attach the letters.

Add the dark yellow/orange Treasure Chest Fairy Gemstones.

Attach everything to a white slimline card (3-½" x 8-⅜").  Cut a slimline-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Love flowers?  Here's a just-released floral design to add to your collection of Memory Box garden dies.  Hi friends, Jean Okimoto here introducing the new Gentle Blossom Watercolor Floral set. Our 6x6 color collections make it quick and easy to find the perfect coordinating colors for the bold, detailed blossom and leaves.  Four shades each of the Lush Greens and Vibrant Violets are used here.

. Cut the Gentle Blossom Watercolor Floral pieces from dark pink, light pink and violet 6x6's in the Vibrant Violet Collection.  Cut the two-piece center from light and dark green 6x6's in the Lush Green Collection - layer them, then daub them with Open Studio Sour Apple Sparkle Glitter Glue.

Cut the leaves from light and dark green 6x6's.

I've used a scrap of watercolored paper from my stash - it's cut with the 6-⅜" x 1-⅜" Slim Basic Rectangles Die.  Add specks of Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz, air-dry it for a few minutes, then heat-set it.

Cut the Hello Friend Posh Script background from white cardstock.  Pressure-emboss it with the coordinating detailed die using the rubber embossing mat and plate(s) required for your machine.  Embossing it adds dimension and makes it very easy to attach the delicate overlay.  Cut the overlay from a violet 6x6 and add tiny dots of glue.  Press the delicate diecut down into the debossed greeting.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-½" x 8-½").  Add sparkly lavender Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Cut a slimline-sized sheet of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Oops...I glanced at Dave's beautiful Gentle Blossom Watercolor Floral on the envelope after the card was done - and realized I made several "leafy" errors.  The top leaf is upside-down, both leaves are in the wrong space and dark/light green shades are reversed.  Couldn't get much wrong-er than that - it proves how versatile this great die set is!

Thanks for visiting...see you again on Friday!

It’s a Daisy Today by Jean Okimoto

P1011561

It's easy to create a daisy with the Contempo Poinsettia and Stencil Set from our holiday collection.  Offset the outline, add a glittered heart and Vintage Varsity Alphabet greeting.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a Valentine slimline design - and some inspiration for our January Alphabet Challenge.

P1011519

Need a longer strip of cardstock for diecutting?  Join 2 strips of the Vibrant Violet 6x6 and cut it with the  7.2" x 2.2" Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangle die.  The seamline  - near the top of the strip in the photo above - will be covered by the petals.

P1011522

Cut Contempo Poinsettia from a white glittered 6x6 in the Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad.  Save the delicate outline diecut for another project - we're using the petal offcuts here.  Use the Contempo Poinettia stencil as a template to attachthe petals to the rectangle - except 1 large petal.  Attach the petals so they'll conceal the joined sections of the rectangle background.  Attach the remaining petal to the background.

Cut the poinsettia again from white cardstock - save the petals for another project - we're using the white outline to contrast the white glittered petals.  Cut the heart - from the Have a Heart set - from a dark pink 6x6  in the Graceful Garden Glitter Pad.  Attach the white outline and the glittered heart.

P1011554

Cut LOVE from a light pink 6x6 in the Vibrant Violet Collection with the Vintage Varsity Alphabet.  Attach the rectangle to a slimline card (3-½" x 8-½") of White Woodgrain Paper (it's actually cardstock).  Add pale lavender Fairy Gemstones  from the Winter Fantasy set.  The gemstone colors look similar from the top - turn the acetate sheet over to the backside and it'll be easy to identify the different shades.

Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to cover and protect the card front for mailing.

Contempo Poinsettia can be used throughout the year for different blossoms and seasons.  Build unique flowers in soft spring pastels, bright summer colors and rich fall shades.  As my friend Jacky says, "it's the die that keeps on giving!"  The Memory Box 6x6 Color Collections and Glitter Pads have the perfect colors for every season and occasion.

Thanks for visiting...have a great weekend!

Snow Day by Jean Okimoto

P1010789 2

Glittered pink trees and a snowy background set the scene for a design from our 2021 Holiday Collection.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here - hope you're having a great weekend!

Snowmen usually wear a black tophat - but this snowgal has a poufy red hat instead. Her trees are pink,  not their usual green, and it appears to be snowing indoors.

P1010880

Attach Flurries Wide Washi Tape to black cardstock.  Cover it with a sheet of printer paper and run it through the diecut machine between the usual plates to eliminate tiny wrinkles and airpockets.  Cut it with the Snowman House Frame - we're using just the interior section here.

Cut the frame from white cardstock and again from gray cardstock.  Attach the snowflake section to the white frame leave a small gap to insert the snowgal. Attach the gray frame behind it to add dimension and a little contrast on the top and right edges.

P1010848

Cut the trees from 2 shades of pink in the Berry Red 6x6 Collection.  Assemble the trees .  Shake the Open Studio Orange Sherbet Glitter Glue vigorously - then squirt ¼" dots of it on each tree section.  Apply the glitter glue with your finger - use a light tapping motion.  Set the trees aside to dry.

Cut the snowman from the smoother side of Memory Box Watercolor Paper.  Color the twiggy arms with a marker.  Tuck a bit of scrap paper under the carrot nose and carefully color the nose with a marker.  Cut the scarf from the dark red 6x6 in the Glitzy Glitter Pad.  Cut another snowgal from black cardstock, remove the arms.  Attach the black diecut behind the white diecut for dimension.

The hat is a DIY project - it's a little fidgety, but it works! Cut the red glitter sheet with the tips of the 2 tree sections that have rounded tops instead of pointy tops.  Trim them to fit behind the head - attach the larger piece first, then add the smaller piece.  Tuck the snowgal behind the inner edge of the frame.  Attach the trees - use foamtape for the big tree.

P1010861

Tie the frame with silver cord.  Curl the cord with the side of a bonefolder or the plastic flower burnishing tool.

Cut the greeting background from white cardstock.  Pressure-emboss it with the delicate greeting - use the rubber mat and plate(s) required for your machine.  Cut the greeting from a pink 6x6 in the Berry Red Collection.  Assemble the greeting.  Embossing the background makes it easier to attach the delicate diecut and adds dimension.

Attach the diecuts to a white A6 card (4-½" x 6-¼").

Thanks for visiting our blog.  Hope you'll enjoy some crafting time this weekend...keep warm!

Frosty, Glossy and Weathered Old Lamp Post by Jean Okimoto

A frosty background and a glossy finish for the Old Lamp Post create a comfy perch for glittery winter birds.  Give the lamp post a weathered, wintery texture for Christmas too.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a different look for everyone's favorite holiday light fixture.

Weather the White Woodgrain Paper (it's actually cardstock) with an ink pod or brayer and iced spruce Distress Oxide.  Skim the surface of the cardstock to emphasize the grain, then let the ink dry.  Cut it with Old Lamp Post.

Create the look of frosted glass with white vellum and a glossy laminating sheet.  They're usually 9x12" and sold at craft or office supply stores.  Attach the laminate to one side of the vellum - about 2-½" square.  Attach a square of lined double stick tape to the other side of the vellum.  Place the laminated side on the Slim Pinpoint Burst Plate and diecut the top starburst section.

Cut the starburst section into 3 pieces with the Old Lamp Post die.

MemoryBoxOldLampPost, MemoryBoxGarland6x6, MemoryBoxFestiveGlitterPad, MemoryBoxTreasureChestFairyGemstones, MemoryBoxGemstones, MemoryBoxSlimPinpointBurst, MemoryBoxFestiveChristmasGreetingsClearStamps, PoppystampsChirpingBirds, MemoryBoxWoodgrainPaper, JeanOkimoto, MemoryBoxCo, ChristmasDiecuts, HandmadeChristmasCards, Diecuts, 6x6Papers, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, ClearStampAndDieSets

Cut the dark green Garland 6x6 print with the 4-¼" x 5-1/2" Rectangle Basics die. Attach the top section of the lamp post, then add the vellum panels - adhere them with the doublestick tape.  Add the bottom section. (The die set includes a decorative horizontal post that's not used here.)  Burnish the edges of the vellum from the reverse side - or cover the piece with printer paper and run the rectangle through a diecut machine.  Attach the rectangle to a top-folded light gray A2 card.

Cut the Poppystamps Chirping Birds from the dark red sheet in the Festive Glitter Pad.

Stamp JOY - from the Festive Christmas Greetings Clear Stamp and Die Set - on pale gray cardtock with Olympia Green VersaFine.  Dry the ink, then cut the greeting with the die included in the set.  Cut a layer of the red glitter sheet too - offset it to add a pop of color.

Attach the diecuts to card and add Treasure Chest Gemstones.  Cut an A2-sized layer of cardstock to protect the card front during mailing.

MemoryBoxOldLampPost, MemoryBoxGarland6x6, MemoryBoxFestiveGlitterPad, MemoryBoxTreasureChestFairyGemstones, MemoryBoxGemstones, MemoryBoxSlimPinpointBurst, MemoryBoxFestiveChristmasGreetingsClearStamps, PoppystampsChirpingBirds, MemoryBoxWoodgrainPaper, JeanOkimoto, MemoryBoxCo, ChristmasDiecuts, HandmadeChristmasCards, Diecuts, 6x6Papers, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, ClearStampAndDieSets

It's hard to see here - but the laminated, pinpointed vellum has a frosty, glossy surface like textured glass.    Try this technique to add a clear, glassy look to other diecuts too - like lakes, skating rinks, cars, candy jars, chocolate cupcakes, candycanes or windows.

Thanks for visiting - see you again this weekend...
