Warm Wishes by Jean Okimoto

Send warm winter wishes with designs from our Valentine '23 Collection.  The new Pinpoint Burst Heart creates a great backdrop for our new Cuppa Love set.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a slimline design for a cold fall or winter day.

 

Cut Pinpoint Burst Heart from a dark red 6x6 in the Berry Red Collection.  

Cut Cuppa Love from a dark pink sheet.  Cut the oval coffee/tea/cocoa shape from dark brown cardstock covered with packing tape for a glossy liquid look.  Cut the heart outine and center section from cream cardstock too.  

Remove the pink heart outline and center and replace them with the cream diecut.

Shake the Strawberry Ice Open Studio Glitter Glue vigorously - then spread it onto the pink heart diecut.  Set it aside to dry.

Diecut Sending Love Daily Script from cream and dark pink cardstock.  Assemble the greeting.  

Here's a tip for anything with very small pieces (like the i) - glue that elusive tiny dot first, before it disappears -  then attach the other letters.  

Cut a 1-¼" strip of the Madras Plaid Coral and Green 6x6.  

Attach everything to a cream slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½").  Add jewels from the

Autumn Fairy Crystals.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle to protect the card front for mailing.

Trio of Frilling Snowflake Ornaments by Jean Okimoto

Snowflakes, glitter glue, jewel gemstones and plaids?  Yes, when the new Frilling Snowflake Ornament set makes it easy to combine design elements for a simple holiday slimline card.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a basic design you can create for anyone on your list.

Cut the dark red and the bright green 6x6's from the Berry Red and Lush Green Collections with the solid Frilling Snowflake Ornament die.  Cut the red/white/green diagonal stripe from the Jolly Christmas 6x6 too.  Punch holes at the top with a ⅛" circle punch, screwpunch or rotating leather punch.

Cut the snowflake and the snowflake ornament from the gold Rainbow Reflections 6x6 sheet.  Assemble the red and green ornaments.  Tie them with gold cord and curl the cord using the side of a bone folder or the plastic flower shaping tool.  For best results, follow the curl of the cord.

Here's a tip - if you're trying to match a special color but can't find the right shade of glittered cardstock - create a custom match with Open Studio Glitter Glue.  Diecut Special Merry Christmas from the same red 6x6 used for the ornament.  Shake the bottle of Ruby Crystal Glitter Glue and squeeze a blob of it onto scrap paper.  Generously finger-press the glitter glue onto the greeting.  Just daub it on - don't try to spread it out.  Air-dry it while you assemble the card.

Attach the ornaments to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½").  Attach the pale green Bright Jewels.

Add the greeting - slightly curved.

Happy Mother's Day to those of you who celebrate this holiday today.  Here's  a card that features another one of the new dies from the MAY 2022 COLLECTION, the Lavender Bouquet.

to make this card

• add the violet plaid paper to the front of the white notecard
• die cut the LAVENDER BOUQUET from green cardstock and again from purple cardstock; attach just the purple blooms on top of the green ones
• add PLUM SHIMMER FAIRY SUGAR to the purple blooms and spread around with your finger; when dry, add the stems to make a bouquet on the card front

• die cut HELLO DAILY SCRIPT background from a scrap of the purple cardstock and the detailed lettering from a scrap of the violet plaid; attach to the lower left corner of the card front
• add a bow to the base of the bouquet to tie it together

• add Scor-Tape to the back of a narrow coordinating ribbon and attach it to the righthand side of the card front, overlapping to the inside
• place three of the purple FAIRY CRYSTALS on the ribbon for a little more sparkle

Gentle Blossom Watercolor Floral Slimline by Jean Okimoto

Hi and happy weekend!  Jean Okimoto here with a design to celebrate Valentine's Day, a special friendship or - planning far ahead - Mother's Day.  The Gentle Blossom Watercolor Floral is my new favorite flower set - hope you enjoy creating with it too!

Cut the base flower from two shades of pink in the Berry Red 6x6 Collection.  Cut the detailed top layer from the lighter pink 6x6.  Squirt and spread big dots (that sounds nicer than "blobs") of Open Studio Berry Mist Glitter Glue onto it.  Set it aside to dry.

Cut the leaves and two-piece layered center from sheets in the Lush Green 6x6 Collection.  

Assemble the flower and attach the leaves.

Cut the largest Double Stitch Loving Heart from a Madras Plaid Coral and Green 6x6.  Cut the second-largest heart from a dark red/coral sheet from the Berry Red set.

Cut a pink sheet from the Berry Red set with the smallest Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangles die.  Cut another half-piece and attach it to the full piece to create a 7" strip - the heart diecut will cover the joined pieces.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-½" x 8-½") - use foam dots to attach the plaid heart.  Add red Christmas Fairy Crystals.  Cut a slimline-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

DIY Hybrid Blossoms on a Slimline Thank You by Jean Okimoto

Mix and match design elements from the new floral die sets for hybrid blossoms on a slimline thank you card.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with an easy way to create unique flowers in your favorite colors.  I wish growing flowers could be this easy!

Cut an assortment of Vibrant Violet 6x6 sheets with the Gentle Blossom Watercolor Floral and Cottage Flower Stem Sets.  Mix, match and layer the pieces onto 3 flowers.  The smallest flower is a a pair of the Cottage Flower Stem's top layer - cut from different shades of violet 6x6 sheets.

Cut the leaves - from the Gentle Blossom Watercolor Floral - from Lush Green 6x6 sheets.  The leaves are designed to be layered in different shades of green - but they're just one color here so they don't compete with the flowers.

Cut the flower centers from a lighter shade of green, spread Sour Apple Sparkle Glitter Glue over them and set them aside to dry.  The  two Cottage Flowers have a section of the Gentle Blossom's  center.  The Gentle Blossom has the Cottage Flower's center.  

Cut white cardstock with the largest Wrapped Stitch Slim Rectangle die.  Cut the rectangle with the Vertical Line Collage.  Tape a strip of the dark brown Earth Neutral 6x6 sheet behind the collage.  Attach the rectangle to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-⅝"). Attach and assemble the flowers and leaves.

Stamp the greeting - from the Big and Little Reverse Words Clear Stamp Set - on white cardstock with Verdant VersaFine Clair.  Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder. Cut it with the matching die from the set.

Attach Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Cut a slimline-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Friends, Flowers and Watercolors by Jean Okimoto

Love flowers?  Here's a just-released floral design to add to your collection of Memory Box garden dies.  Hi friends, Jean Okimoto here introducing the new Gentle Blossom Watercolor Floral set. Our 6x6 color collections make it quick and easy to find the perfect coordinating colors for the bold, detailed blossom and leaves.  Four shades each of the Lush Greens and Vibrant Violets are used here.

Cut the Gentle Blossom Watercolor Floral pieces from dark pink, light pink and violet 6x6's in the Vibrant Violet Collection.  Cut the two-piece center from light and dark green 6x6's in the Lush Green Collection - layer them, then daub them with Open Studio Sour Apple Sparkle Glitter Glue.

Cut the leaves from light and dark green 6x6's.

I've used a scrap of watercolored paper from my stash - it's cut with the 6-⅜" x 1-⅜" Slim Basic Rectangles Die.  Add specks of Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz, air-dry it for a few minutes, then heat-set it.

Cut the Hello Friend Posh Script background from white cardstock.  Pressure-emboss it with the coordinating detailed die using the rubber embossing mat and plate(s) required for your machine.  Embossing it adds dimension and makes it very easy to attach the delicate overlay.  Cut the overlay from a violet 6x6 and add tiny dots of glue.  Press the delicate diecut down into the debossed greeting.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-½" x 8-½").  Add sparkly lavender Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Cut a slimline-sized sheet of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Oops...I glanced at Dave's beautiful Gentle Blossom Watercolor Floral on the envelope after the card was done - and realized I made several "leafy" errors.  The top leaf is upside-down, both leaves are in the wrong space and dark/light green shades are reversed.  Couldn't get much wrong-er than that - it proves how versatile this great die set is!

A Quartet of Snowmen Let It Snow Cards by Anne Thompson

I continued to focus on this month's Snow Challenge and created a quartet of cards that feature the Oval Snowman Collage and a variety of backgrounds.

Card One

white on white on white

• white notecard
• white cardstock
• SLIM CONFETTI PLATE 94551 cut from white cardstock and trimmed 4X5.25 and added to the card front
• OVAL SNOWMAN COLLAGE 94608 cut from white cardstock and trimmed 4X5.25 and placed over the confetti piece
• LET IT SNOW POSH SCRIPT 94583 with the solid background cut from a scrap of light blue plaid paper from the PP1018 WOODSY PLAID 6X6 paper pad and the script detailed letters cut from white cardstock, adhered together with a glue pen and added to the lower right 

Card Two

• Same as the first card except that I added a layer of blue plaid paper behind the confetti.

Card Three

• For this card I used a darker blue plaid paper as the first layer and added dots of DEWDROP FAIRY SUGAR 40125 glitter glue to the light blue squares in the plaid paper  pattern.
• I also used Prismacolor pencils on the brown twig arms and the orange carrot nose.

Card Four

• Here I covered the front of the notecard with a darker blue plaid papaer.
• I used a 4X5.25 section of an embossed paper made with RINGADINGS  3D EMBOSSING FOLDER EF1015 for the layer under the snowman piece.

There is a lovely sentiment from the YULETIDE MOMENTS CL5274 clear stamp set to add to  the inside of each card:  May Peace, Love & Joy surround you like the first Snow.  

What snow we had yesterday went away with the rain overnight, so I'm still waiting for that first significant storm when I can build a snowman in the yard.  Then I will also pop these cards into the mail!

Yuletide Moments CL5274

Glittered Holiday Slimline by Jean Okimoto

Are you  almost ready for Christmas?  It's time to celebrate the season with a collage of holiday icons and lots of glitter.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here - hope your weekend is off to a great start!  

Cut a total of 5 large and small Melted Candles from the white Frosted Glitter Pad.  Color the flames with a yellow-orange marker.  Cut the candles again from a coral 6x6 in the Berry Red Collection.  Attach the coral candles to the white candles - slightly offset so they'll stand out from the background. Trim the large candles to 2-⅝" and 2-⅜" from the top of the flame to the bottom of the candle.  Snip a tiny bit from the bottom corners so it doesn't look like you shortened them.  

Cut the melting wax pieces - from the candle set - from the same coral 6x6.  Spread Open Studio Sunlit Gold Glitter Glue over the diecuts, set them aside to dry.  Sunlit Gold adds a slightly deeper, glossy, glittery layer of highlights.

Cut the medium Geodesic Oval from a dark pink sheet in the Berry Red Collection.  Attach the candles and the melting wax diecuts.

Cut Holly Bundle from a medium-green 6x6 in the Lush Green Collection.  Spread Open Studio Sour Apple Sparkle Glitter Glue over the leaves.  Cut the berries from a pink sheet in the Delicate Pastels Glitter Pad.

Cut the Coral and Green Madras Plaid 6x6 vertically using the 1-¾" wide Slim Basic Rectangles Layers die. The plaid will be shorter than the die, but it's easier to diecut a straight strip.  Trim the top edge where it was attached to the paper pack.

Cut 2 pieces of the Poppystamps Grosgrain Ribbon from a light coral 6x6 in the Berry Red Collection.  Form the bow on one end by pleating a scored section and folding it back on itself.  Tape it so it won't unfold.

Attach the diecuts to a White Woodgrain slimline card (3-½" x 8-½").

Winter Garden Greetings by Jean Okimoto

Greet the season with an arrangement of garden diecuts - and more glitter!  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a  slimline design of layered diecuts from the 2021 Holiday Collection.

Cut a vertical strip of the green/coral/pink sheet from the Madras Plaid Coral and Green pack with the 1-¾" x 6-¾" Slim Rectangle Basic Layers  die.  Trim the top edge,  and it'll be about 6-¼" long.  Cut Contempo Holly fron ivory cardstock - trim the rectangle portion to about 1-¾" x 4-¾".

Slide the lower right corner of the plaid strip under the holly stem and out over the Contempo Holly diecut.  It just adds some interest to the corner of the design...I hope!

Cut the holly leaves from a green sheet in the Twinkling Jewel Glitter pad. Cut 2 Gentle Pine Needle Sprigs from the dark green 6x6 in the Lush Green Collection.  

Cut Layered Poinsettia from a pink sheet in the Vibrant Violet 6x6 Collection. Vigorously shake the Berry Mist Glitter Glue container - then squirt about ¼" of glitter glue onto each section.  Spread the glitter glue - tap your finger over the glue to cover the diecuts.  Gently crease the diecuts along the center line.  Set the pieces aside to dry.  Punch or cut a 1" circle of the pink cardstock - it'll be a base to for the poinsettia sections.  Attach the pieces to the circle.  It's easier to assemble the poinsettia - and it adds dimension. 

Cut two of the poinsettia centers.  Assemble the poinsettia and add the centers.

Cut both Smooth Pine Cones from the medium-brown in the Earth Neutral 6x6 Collection - leave the pieces in the die.  Attach strips of lined doublestick tape to the back of the diecuts and run them through the machine again to cut the tape and make the pieces self-adhesive.  Assemble the pinecones - start at the bottom and work upwards.

Attach the diecuts to an ivory slimline card - 3-⅝" x 8-½".  Add Autumn Fairy Crystals.  Cut a slimline-sized sheet of cardstock to protect the card front during mailing.

Snow Day by Jean Okimoto

Glittered pink trees and a snowy background set the scene for a design from our 2021 Holiday Collection.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here - hope you're having a great weekend!

Snowmen usually wear a black tophat - but this snowgal has a poufy red hat instead. Her trees are pink,  not their usual green, and it appears to be snowing indoors.  

Attach Flurries Wide Washi Tape to black cardstock.  Cover it with a sheet of printer paper and run it through the diecut machine between the usual plates to eliminate tiny wrinkles and airpockets.  Cut it with the Snowman House Frame - we're using just the interior section here.

Cut the frame from white cardstock and again from gray cardstock.  Attach the snowflake section to the white frame leave a small gap to insert the snowgal. Attach the gray frame behind it to add dimension and a little contrast on the top and right edges.

Cut the trees from 2 shades of pink in the Berry Red 6x6 Collection.  Assemble the trees .  Shake the Open Studio Orange Sherbet Glitter Glue vigorously - then squirt ¼" dots of it on each tree section.  Apply the glitter glue with your finger - use a light tapping motion.  Set the trees aside to dry.

Cut the snowman from the smoother side of Memory Box Watercolor Paper.  Color the twiggy arms with a marker.  Tuck a bit of scrap paper under the carrot nose and carefully color the nose with a marker.  Cut the scarf from the dark red 6x6 in the Glitzy Glitter Pad.  Cut another snowgal from black cardstock, remove the arms.  Attach the black diecut behind the white diecut for dimension.

The hat is a DIY project - it's a little fidgety, but it works! Cut the red glitter sheet with the tips of the 2 tree sections that have rounded tops instead of pointy tops.  Trim them to fit behind the head - attach the larger piece first, then add the smaller piece.  Tuck the snowgal behind the inner edge of the frame.  Attach the trees - use foamtape for the big tree.

Tie the frame with silver cord.  Curl the cord with the side of a bonefolder or the plastic flower burnishing tool.

Cut the greeting background from white cardstock.  Pressure-emboss it with the delicate greeting - use the rubber mat and plate(s) required for your machine.  Cut the greeting from a pink 6x6 in the Berry Red Collection.  Assemble the greeting.  Embossing the background makes it easier to attach the delicate diecut and adds dimension.

Attach the diecuts to a white A6 card (4-½" x 6-¼").
