Retro Birthday
by Trina Pham

Happy Wednesday everyone.  Had more fun stretching the Nested Globes dies again and made a retro masculine slimline birthday card to share today.  Besides mailboxes and tall rainbows, I also saw jukeboxes when I first saw these dies! 😁

The jukebox base is done the same as the mailboxes in this post HERE.  The overall size of the jukebox is 3ā€x 4.75ā€ and I used the darkest blue color from the Ocean Blue paper pack.   From there, I used the same steps for the tall rainbow in this post HERE, and trimmed / die cut / partial die cut from alcohol marker-friendly cardstock accordingly to build the jukebox.  Colored the green and aqua parts with Copic markers YG00, YG01, YG03, BG10, BG11, BG13.  Used Circle Basics, Square Basics, Vintage Sled and Double Diamond Lattice Plate (from Poppy Stamps) dies to die cut from Silver Polished Foil to accent and decorate.  Oh and of course the record was die cut from black cardstock.

Next, a Bristol slimline panel was die cut with the second largest Slim Basic Rectangle die.  Masked near the bottom and applied Black Soot distress ink (DI) to create the floor area.  The Vintage Varsity Alphabet letters were die cut also from Bristol paper, ombrĆ© colored with Blueprint Sketch DI using a blending brush, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder to give them some shine.  The rest of the sentiments from Birthday Rose Corner was white heat embossed on the same darkest blue paper as the jukebox.

Adhered the panel to a 3.5ā€x 8.5ā€ white card base, then drew in the music notes with a black marker and added highlights with a white pencil to the black record to finish.  Thank you for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

One of My Techniques for Adhering Intricate Dies...

Pam here...I have a video for you today showing one of my techniques for adhering intricate dies.

            Embedded Diecuts

* I did take this in high definition so after you click play,  you can click the gear for a better picture and click the frame to see it large! *

Here’s my technique for making your die cuts into stickers for perfect placement.  I’m really pleased with how it works… so many of the fine line dies from Memory Box are easy to pull out of shape.  After trying several things, this is what I came up with!  I hope you'll try it too!

One thing I didn’t show in the video is changing the color of the petals.  It’s really easy though… just cut the die in the color card-stock you want the petals and adhere them over the top after the process I show in the video.

On my Tall Taper die card, I added the black pieces over the white after using the technique I show in the video.

  1. glue the musicality background die cut to the card base (little dots of Tombow Mono Multi behind the notes)
  2. die cut the tall taper die just like I did the plush poinsettia in the video
  3. while still in the die, (after removing the waste) lay it right over the top of the musicality background piece, run it through the Big Shot just like I did in the video
  4. remove the die
  5. die cut the contrasting tall taper parts that you want a different color and glue on (or make them a sticker too)

PamSparksFFblackKraftWhiteCandleMusic700

The holly is from the Cabrini Ornament die. Die cut and then trim the holly away from the ornament with scissors.

I have a couple more cards in this color scheme with MB dies if you want to click over to my blog, HERE.

Can't believe it's the end of August! eek! At least I have a lot of Christmas cards made! lol Hope you're making progress on the stash too!

Thanks for looking! and happy adhering!

Lunette Butterfly, Piano Border and Calm Countryside...

PamSparksVenitaLunetteButterfly

(click to see the photos fullsize)

Pam here to get your weekend off to a stamping, die cutting, stenciling start!

On this first card, I gave the Floral Mesh stencil a spritz with glitter mist on watercolor paper. Let it dry, mat it to Dill Card-stock and layer it on to a piece of Violet Dot Signature pattern paper.  Then adhere it to an A-2 Parchment Notecard.

I die cut the Venita Flourish and the butterfly body from Silver glitter card-stock. I cut the Lunette Butterfly from the watercolor paper so the color would match and the Oriel Butterfly from Lavender Card-stock.  I inked part of the A Very Happy Hello Combo stamp and stamped in black ink using the stamp a ma jig.  I looped some lavender cord and then glued everything to the card with Tombow Mono Multi glue.

Don't you just love this Piano Border die?  I do!  Playing the piano was one of my first loves.  I still enjoy it!

The card base is Black Card-stock 5 1/2 x 11 in., scored and folded in half.  I free hand cut to make it look like a Grand Piano. Then I decided it needed a music rack!  I die cut and embossed the Calozonia Frame and just used part of it.  Some of the other frames would work great too!

I cut a rectangle with my paper trimmer, scored it in half and stamped Just a Note combo stamp with black ink using the stamp a ma jig.

The Piano Border is cut from Black Card-stock and backed with a piece of White Card-stock cut 2 x 5  1/2 in.

PamSparksCalmCountrysideCAS

I've been wanting to play with this new Calm Countryside die.  I die cut it from a White A-2 Notecard, placed a piece of Water Card-stock on the inside of the card for the sky.  Added the small Kite from the Summer Kites die in Squash Dot Signature pattern paper and the sentiment stamp Just Thinking of You Combo stamped in black ink with the stamp a ma jig and it was done!  I really like it!  I had a couple other ideas to try with it but I didn't think I better make this post any longer! lol

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a great weekend!

P.S.  I have a giveaway over on my blog for the Lunette and Oriel Butterfly dies!  HERE

Play a Little Lovesong

Hi - Jean Okimoto here, with musical Valentine design for you.  The cool new Piano Border is the perfect backdrop for some sweet pink notes and hearts diecut from fuchsia felt. They're from the 2014 Creative Elegance Collection of dies and stencils for cards, layouts, mixed media and decor projects for Valentine's Day and throughout the year.

Stencil an arrow from the new Happy Arrows Designer Stencil with ColorBox Cupid Pigment Ink, and heat-set the ink.  Diecut the Piano Border and trim a bit off the right edge.

Attach sticker or adhesive label paper to fuchsia felt and diecut Musical Motif and Mini Heart Collection.  The adhesive paper stabilizes the felt and keeps liquid adhesives from seeping through.  Use high-quality felt for great results,  without little fuzzies along the edges.  Add some punched dots covered with a blend of charoal and silver glitter for a bright pop of sparkle.

Welcome to Day Two of the Memory Box 2014 Creative Elegance Collection release!  I have a lot to share with you today!  I got a little carried away, once I started making cards I couldn't quit!

PamSparksYorkshireLoveTagsClose

Here, I used the NEW Yorkshire Tree, Yorkshire Tree background and Library Alphabet Tags dies.  The letters 'Y' and 'U' are from the tag set also and the hearts are from the Cherish Border die. I colored the trunk of the tree with a copic marker.

PamSparksPianoBorderFront

Here I used the NEW Piano Border and Perky Poppy dies.  The sentiment is Just a Note Combo. I added the detail on the leaves with a copic marker.

PamSparksPartyMusicHeart625

Here I used the NEW Party Music, Musical Motifs, Heart of Hearts, Sweet Heart, Queen of Hearts and Alphabet Soup dies. (I just used the heart cut from the center of the Queen of Hearts die)  I cut the Cupid Heart die out of red card-stock and it is glued on the inside of the card behind the Heart of Hearts that is cut directly in the white notecard.

PamSparksHappyBirthdayButterflyFront

Here I used the NEW Grand Happy Birthday, Norwich Corner and Lunette Butterfly dies.  I cut the corner die twice, left one complete and cut one up to use here and there.

I hope I didn't forget anything! : )   Thanks for stopping by today...leave a comment for a chance to win the Grand Happy Birthday die!!!  Good luck and be sure to comment by 11:59 p.m. EST, January 12th!

Meadow Bird with a Spring Song...

_MG_6907
Birds singing...a sure sign of Spring!  Here's the Meadow Bird wishing you a happy day! Click on the photo to see the card full size...

I used the Grapevine wreath die to create the nest... snipped it into pieces, layered and glued the pieces together with Tombow Mono Multi glue.

The eggs are die cut from the tall oval tree in the  Modern Landscape die.

I used the smallest leaf from the Tender Leaves die for the tree leaves but afterwards I thought it'd be quicker to cut the Lavish Branch die once and use the leaves from it!

I used Memory Box gingham and dot papers,  HERE and HERE

The cute little music notes stamp comes on the end of the 'Wishing you a happy day' stamp!

A little dot of Viva Decor Pearl pen in the flower centers... a sweet, quick card!

Colorful, Happy Day

As I was putting away some new washi tape, I realized how cute the packaging was. I knew I could combine it with some great Memory Box products to create something fun and colorful. So, here is what I created:

HappyDayColorfulA

HappyDayColorfulCUa
Memory Box Papers: licorice cs and notecard, squash gingham, used white side of misc. retired paper
Memory Box Dies: Virtuoso Music 98356
Memory Box Stamp: Wishing You Combo B1853
Stamp Ink: Archival Ink jet black
Embellishments: Blue Fern Studios Icon Set One painted with gesso and Jenni Bowlin lemon drops dabber paint; Prima Overature C and Soubrette pink/orange flowers; teal flower from Wild Orchid Crafts; Zva Creative white flowers; Golden black gesso; misc. ribbon; misc. packaging; sewing machine

I cut the packaging into strips and layered them onto the white side of a piece of retired Memory Box paper. I then used my sewing machine to sew between the strips of paper and splattered on some black gesso. While that was drying, I stamped the Memory Box Wishing You Combo stamp (B1853) onto a piece of Memory Box squash gingham paper using black ink. I also die cut the Memory Box Virtuoso Music die (98356) onto Memory Box licorice cardstock. I then adhered the music die cut at the bottom of the colored pieces, wrapped some yellow ribbon round the paper, and attached the entire piece to a Memory Box licorice notecard. Lastly, I added some embellishments and the sentiment to finish the card.

I don't know about you but both music and bright colors make me happy so hopefully this card will brighten someone elses day too. Thanks for stopping by!
