Aurora Snowflake on a Vintage Tray by Jean Okimoto

Layer the new Aurora Snowflake over plaids, poinsettias and starbursts tucked into compartments of the Vintage Tray 3D Embossing Folder and Die Set.  Hi, Jean here with mix of matte, metallic, pink and gold - my new favorite holiday combination.

Cut Vintage Tray from pink cardstock - we're using just the frame and left center offcut for the greeting.  Cut the Poinsettia Plaid 6x6 and 2 pale pink and gold Poinsettia Garland 6x6 prints.  You'll have a total of 15 great offcuts to mix, match and layer - save the extras for future projects.

Cut the Aurora Snowflake background from the pale gold Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad6x6.  Spritz the reverse side with a light mist of water and pressure-emboss it using the rubber embossing mat and plates required for your machine.  This creates a debossed snowflake that makes it easy to attach the pink snowflake.  It even looks great just embossed, without the detailed pink layer.

Cut the detailed Aurora Snowflake from pink cardstock.

Prep the solid pink offcut with the embossing powder tool.  Stamp the greeting - from the new Shining Star Clear Stamp Set - with VersaMark.  Heat-emboss it with detail gold powder.

Attach the Vintage Tray frame and offcuts to a top-folded pink A2 card.  Add the snowflake - use foamtape for the points.  Add pale pink Pastel Jewels.  Cut an A2-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Golden Holiday Greetings by Jean Okimoto

Surprise someone with a frosty pink slimline holiday greeting this year.  The unexpected shape and color will stand out in a crowd of traditional designs. Hi, Jean here - hope you're enjoying a great weekend!  

We're using the Poinsettia Garland 6x6 pack with its array of beautiful metallic gold and matte florals, starbursts and botanicals.  Cut two of the pale pink and gold 6x6's with the Frilling Snowflake Ornament background die.  Attach narrow strips of cardstock behind the tops of the ornaments to reinforce the hole for the gold cord.  

Cut light pink cardstock with the same die. Cut a gold Rainbow Reflections 6x6 with the snowflake that's included in the Frilling Snowflake Ornament set.

Punch the holes and tie the ornaments with gold cord.  Curl the cord with the side of a bonefolder or that plastic burnishing too.

Cut two 2 pieces of white cardstock with the 2-¼" x 7-¼" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Spritz both sides of one rectangle with a light mist of water and pressure-emboss it with the Happy Holidays Streamlined Script die at a slight angle.  This step debosses the rectangle and makes it easy to attach the gold greeting diecut. Attach the other rectangle behind the embossed rectangle to add dimension.

Cut Happy Holidays Streamlined Script again from the gold Rainbow Reflections 6x6 - leave the tiny dot for the "i" in the die until you're ready to attach it.  Attach the gold greeting to the rectangle.  It'll fit perfectly into the debossed area.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-⅝"). Add pale pink Pastel Jewels.  Cut a slimline-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

This design is great if you have a stack of Memory Box holiday papers in your stash.  The color-coordinated prints create beautiful ornaments and the single gold snowflake adds a cool contrast.

Holiday Hummingbird Greetings by Jean Okimoto

A bright Christmas-red Layered Hummingbird delivers a holiday message here.  Mixed textures of velvet paper, plain cardstock and Rainbow Reflections Mirror Cardstock add dimension to a festive little bird.  Hi, Jean here on a wintery fall day.

Cut the berry print from the Garland 6x6 pack and natural cardstock slightly larger than 4.25" x 5.5". Glue the two sheets together, then cut them with the largest Wrapped Stitched Rectangles die.  Pressure-emboss the attached sheets with the new Merry Christmas Streamlined Script die.  

Cut Merry Christmas Streamlined Script from green cardstock and attach it to the background. The double layer highlights the embossed greeting and creates the perfect guide to easily attach the greeting. Nice and straight - without wiggle-words!

Cut Classic Pine Needle Sprigs from green cardstock and trim the bottom right section of the large sprig.  Color the stems with an orange marker - a brown marker will be too dark.  Attach the small trimmed section over the corner print.  Attach the remaining sprigs to the top corner.

Cut the main section of Layered Hummingbird from red velvet paper or red felt attached to adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet.  Cut the wings from the red Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad 6x6.  Cut the remaining pieces from red cardstock.  Color the beak and a spot for the eye with a black marker.  Assemble the bird. 

Add red Bright Jewels.  Cut an A2-sized sheet of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

A plump red felt bird and a glittery Christmas tree fill the new Bird's Nest with holiday spirit.  Leaf Bunches and berries from Birch Press Design brighten the background.  Hi, Jean here with a holiday slimline design.

Cut Leaf Bunches  from dark green cardstock. Cut the 2.25" wide Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectange from white cardstock.  Attach it to a white slimline card (8-⅝" x 3-⅝").

Cut the large Layered Evergreen Trees background from lime green cardstock.  Cut the delicate top layer from the green Glitzy Glitter Pad 6x6.  We're working on the link for the Layered Evergreen Trees #94751 - here's a picture:  

Cut Bird's Nest from kraft cardstock.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to red wool-blend felt and cut one of the Nestled Chickadee Duo birds.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from saturating it.  Cut the head and trim sections from red cardstock.  Cut the wings from the red Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Attach a scrap of black cardstock behind the eye cutout.

Cut the Birch Press Design Mixed Berry Contour Layers stems from the green cardstock.  Cut 5 berries from the Rainbow Reflections red 6x6 and from yellow cardstock.  Layer the berries - rotate the yellow pieces to fill the cutouts on the red berries

Assemble the Christmas tree, chickadee and the front portion of the Bird's Nest.  

Attach Leaf Bunches to the stitched rectangle background - place the single extra leaf so it covers the stem of the leaves on the top left corner.  

Attach the back layer of the nest, then the Christmas tree and the chickadee, then the top layers of the nest.  Attach the berry stems and berries.

Cut Happy Holidays Streamlined Script from the green cardstock - leave the tiny dot for the "i" in the die until you're ready to attach it.

Birch Tree Forest, Birds and a Bear by Jean Okimoto

The new Birch Tree Forest 3D Embossing Folder sets the scene for a northwest bear sighting. Hi, Jean here with a woodsy winter design.  No polar bears here, but a big brown bear recently visited our neighbor, surprising his parents - and inspired today's card.

Cut heavy white cardstock with the largest A2 Rectangle Frames die.  Spritz a light mist of water onto both sides of the cardstock and emboss it with the Birch Tree Forest 3D Embossing Folder.  Dry it if it's still slightly damp, then prep it with the embossing powder tool.  Stencil it with the new Snow Flurries Stencil using a clean, well-inked VersaMark inkpad and a dauber or sponge.   Heat-emboss it with Imagine's Iridescent Embossing Powder,  like a scattering of sparkly snowflakes.  They're hard to see here, but they really do sparkle!  Attach it to a top-folded white A2 card.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to brown and bright red wool-blend felt.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from saturating it.  

Cut the brown felt with the Layered Polar Bear's large outline die.  Cut the other sections from tan cardstock.  Attach a scrap of black cardstock behind his eyes and nose.  Use a brown marker to add a dot of ink to the felt diecut where the ear cutouts will appear.

Cut the Layered Birds from light kraft cardstock and red felt.

Cut the scarf - borrowed from the Bundled Bird die set - from the turquoise Rainbow Reflections 6x6. 

Attach the diecuts to the embossed background.  Add a a rich gold-embossed greeting from the new Merry Christmas Foil Greetings Rose Tabs.  Hope you can see the sparkly snowflakes here.

Frosty Winter Garden Greetings by Jean Okimoto

Shimmery pink ink adds frosty definition to a 3D-embossed winter garden design.  The new Vintage Lantern and Classic Pine Needle Sprigs in shiny gold mirror cardstock create a warm color contrast.  Hi, Jean here with a mix of pearlescent, shiny and sparkly design elements on a holiday card.

Have a spray bottle of water nearby.  Press Delicata Pink Shimmer ink - from a juicy, moist inkpad - onto the new Poinsettia Corner 3D Embossing Folder.  Spritz both sides of Open Studio Watercolor Paper with a light mist of water.  Quickly spritz more water into the air and pull the inked embossing folder thru the mist to prep it for inky embossing. Place the watercolor paper - smoother side facing the inked surface - into the folder and run it through your diecut machine using the plate(s) and/or mat(s) required for pressure embossing.  Pigment inks are recommended for this technique - dye inks would dry too quickly.

Heat-set the ink.  Diecut the cooled paper with the largest A2 Rectangle Frames die.  Attach it to a top-folded natural A2 card.

Cut natural cardstock with the 2.25" x 3.5" A2 Rectangle Frames die.

Cut Vintage Lantern (including the candle) from the gold Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Assemble the lantern.  Press Pink Shimmer ink onto a scrap of natural cardstock and heat-set it.  Cut a candle, remove and wick and flame, then attach the inked candle over the gold candle.  Color the gold flame with a bright yellow Sharpie.  Heat-set it.  Attach the candle behind the lantern.

Cut Classic Pine Needle Sprigs from the gold Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Trim the section on the right side of the larger sprig.

Attach the diecuts to the small rectangle.  Add pink Pastel Jewels.  

Experiment with different pigment inks for a different look.  Inking highlights the details of 3D embossing folders.

Lightly-Layered Bundled Bird by Jean Okimoto

The Bundled Bird - on a slightly warmer day - wears just a scarf here on a collaged background of Vintage Tray 3D Embossing Folder offcuts.  Felt, plaids, snowflakes, mirror cardstock, gemstones and glitter somehow work together for a winter pastel scene.  Hi, Jean here with more ways to mix and match designs from our Christmas 2023 Collection.

Yes, offcuts from the versatile die that's included in the Vintage Tray 3D Embossing Folder Set are featured again!  The new Poinsettia Garland and Poinsettia Plaid 6x6 prints are used here.  Diecut pale aqua cardstock for the greeting block with the larger of the two almost-square blocks.  Stamp the greeting - from the new Shining Star Clear Stamps - on the aqua block with Warm Breeze VersaFine Clair.  Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.

Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) to aqua wool-blend felt.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from saturating it.  Cut Bundled Bird's main section and head-top.  Cut the backing piece for the beak from a 6x6 in the Sunny Orange Collection.  Color the eye area with a black marker.

Cut the wings and tail from the Rainbow Reflections turquoise 6x6.  Cut two of the scarf pieces with the turquoise Glitzy Glitter Pad 6x6.

Cut the largest Alpine Snowflake from a white Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad 6x6.  Cut another snowflake from white cardstock and layer the diecuts for dimension.

Attach the diecuts to a white A6 card (4.5" x 6.25").  Add Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Cut an A6-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Kept it simple here today - but Bundled Bird comes with a complete winter wardrobe - including a Santa hat - and more scarf layers.  Hope you enjoy mixing and matching the layers, prints, plaids, gemstones, glittered and mirror cardstock for an assortment of holiday designs to delight everyone on your cardlist!

Layered Hummingbird Fall Greetings by Jean Okimoto

It may feel like it's already winter, but it's only fall - time to send autumn cards.  A felt Layered Hummingbird and falling Gypsy Oak Leaves set the scene on a backdrop of woodgrain blocks.  Hi, Jean here, let's get started...

Cut orange-y ink-blended heavy white cardstock to fit the Vintage Tray 3D Embossing Folder.  Spritz both sides with a light mist of water and emboss it.  Spritz it lightly with Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz and heat-set the ink.  Lightly ink the embossed pattern with Brilliance Cosmic Copper.  Dry the ink, then cut the cardstock with the tray die included in the set.  Attach 4 of the offcut blocks to a natural A6 card (4.5" x 6.25").

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to cream felt and cut the main portion of Layered Hummingbird. Cut the beak/head section from black cardstock.  Cut the remaining sections  from the green Rainbow Reflections 6x6 and an orange sheet from the Sunny Orange Collection.  Here's a picture of this sweet bird - he'd be great in any color combination!  

Cut Gypsy Oak Leaves from two shades of orange from the Sunny Orange Collection.

Glue two layers of natural cardstock together and cut the background of Happy Fall Posh Script.  Pressure-emboss it using the rubber mat and plate(s) required for your machine.  Cut the top greeting layer from the orange Glitzy Glitter Pad 6x6.  Assemble the greeting - embossing debosses the background to easily attach the top layer.

Attach the diecuts to the background - use foamtape for the hummingbird.  Add the bronze-y Treasure Chest Fairy Gemstones.  Cut an A6-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

A Bundled Bird for All Seasons by Jean Okimoto

The new Bundled Bird greets all 4 seasons on these little idea-cards.  Hi, Jean here with additional spring, summer and fall projects for this versatile die set from our Christmas 2023 Collection.  Internet problems continuing for several days - hope it lets me finish this post for you before timing out again.

Felt, seasonal colors, holiday icons,  glittered and mirror cardstock add year-round versatility to this sweet bird.  It's even a chubby chick for your Easter greetings!  It's almost Christmas - let's start with the winter design and work backwards.

The winter and spring designs include felt for the main portion.  Attach wool-blend felt to adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to stablize the fabric and keep adhesives from saturating it.

All of the diecuts are attached to a 4" square top-folded mini-card for this post.  You can also create a standard A2 card by attaching a 4" square to a colorful notecard.

All of the beak sections are cut from orange cardstock.  Color the portion that goes behind the eye cutout with a black marker.

Winter - Cut the bird, hat and scarf from red and white felt, red cardstock, orange cardstock and the red Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Cut Pine Tree Grove from two shades of green cardstock.

Fall - Cut the bird from kraft cardstock.  Color the head, wings and tail with Brilliance Pearlescent Rust and Pearlescent Chocolate inks. Cut the small leaves from the Gypsy Oak Leaves set from two shades of Sunny Orange 6x6's.  

Summer - Cut the glitzy summer bluebird bird from two shades of Ocean Blue 6x6's and orange cardstock.    Cut the wings and tail from the royal blue Glitzy Glitter Pad 6x6.  Cut 3 pieces of a yellow 6x6 from the Sunny Orange set with the (approximately) 1-⅞"-wide Shining Star Set die.  Layer them to create a dimensional summer sun.

Spring - Cut the bird from yellow felt, yellow cardstock and orange cardstock.  It's now a sweet fuzzy chick!  Cut the larger tail section from orange cardstock and trim it to resemble little chick-feet.  Cut light pink, dark pink and green Graceful Garden 6x6's with the smallest Half a Dozen Eggs die.

Merry Berries and Birds by Jean Okimoto

Dress the new Nestled Chickadee Duo in bright red felt and shimmery mirror cardstock for holiday greetings. Add the delicate new Bird's Nest and greenery.  Berries from Birch Press Design add a pop of pink.  Hi, Jean here - Christmas is less than 2 months away!

Balance the layered diecuts with a simple stamped greeting from the new Shining Star Clear Stamp Set.  Add frosty Christmas Fairy Dewdrops with a touch of pale pink to complement the layered berries.

Cut the new Leaf Bunches and Classic Pine Needle Sprigs from green cardstock.  Attach the sprigs behind the leaves for easy handling.

Cut Bird's Nest from light kraft cardstock and assemble the layers.  A diagram on the back of the envelope makes it easy!

Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) to bright red wool-blend felt and cut the main sections of the Nestled Chickadee Duo.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from saturating it.  Cut the head tops from red cardstock.  Cut the wings and trim from the red Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Attach a scrap of black cardstock behind the eye cutouts.

Cut the stemmed berries from the Birch Press Design Sylvan Berries and Leaves Contour Layers set from green cardstock.  Cut the berry layers from red cardstock and the bright pink Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad 6x6.

Cut white cardstock with the 3.25" wide A2 Rectangle Frames Die.  

Stamp the greeting - from the new Shining Star Clear Stamp Set - on white cardstock with Green Oasis VersaFine Clair.  Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.  Trim it with the short end of the 1.75" wide A2 Rectangle Frames Die.  Trim the excess with the long edge of the same die to create a custom-cut greeting block.

Attach the diecuts to a white A6 card.  No foam tape needed - the layers and felt create their own dimensional holiday scene!

Attach the frosty white Christmas Fairy Dewdrops.  Cut an A6-sized piece of white cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.
