Butterfly Heart Frame
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Wednesday friends! Today I have another fun die from the new release to share. I used the Butterfly Heart Frame to make a square card filled with bling.

IMG_9048

I die cut the frame in two different colors of purple paper. I then covered each piece with Clear Wink of Stella to create the glittery look on the paper. I pieced the hearts back together on the square card by alternating the purple colors.

I finished it off with pearls in the centers of the biggest flowers. Since I cut it out in two colors I also had pieces to make a second card in opposite colors. I love when you can make more than one card with the same supplies. Have a wonderful day!

You Make Me Smile
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Wednesday and welcome to another fun day of our Blog Blitz!

Melissa1

Today I am sharing the Bright Hearts die and the coordinating Bright Rays die. I started with the Bright Hearts and cut it out in a white circle. Then using the Bright Rays die I was able to cut perfect slices of white paper that I colored in a rainbow with my Copic markers and glued them behind each line of hearts. It fits perfectly and is so much fun to play with!

Melissa2

To finish off the card I stamped the you make me smile from the Best Life Typewriter stamp set. This is such a great set that you are sure to get a lot of use out of, I know I will.

Melissa3

Now for the fun part! Would you like a chance to win the Bright Rays die for your very own?  Leave a comment to this post before Sunday, January 13th at 11:59pm EST.  One person at random will be chosen to win the die.  All the winners will be posted on the Outside the Box blog at 6pm EST on Monday, January 14th. Hearts and Hugs
by Melissa Rusk

Today I have another card to share with you filled with love from the new release. The new Have a Heart stamp set is so much fun to play with I just had to feature it on another card.

IMG_0001

I started with a lot of small white circles and I stamped the smaller hearts in the set in various pinks and reds. I did two of each heart for a total of 12 circles. Then I lined them all up and glued them to a pink card with foam tape to give them some fun dimension.
IMG_0001

I placed a piece of vellum over the center two rows of hearts and that made the perfect spot for the Big Hugs Premiere that I die cut in a bright pink paper.

If you changed out the colors of the hearts and the card it would make a great everyday encouragement card any time of the year.

Have a wonderful day!

Hugs
by Melissa Rusk

Happy New Year! It's time for new beginnings, new projects and best of all a new release from Memory Box! Today I have a card using some of the new release to share with you, let's get started.

IMG_8990

I started with the new Have a Heart Stamp set. I decided to try out the stamps on vellum and I used different colors of ink for the different heart stamps. When you stamp on vellum it is easy for the ink to slip so it is important to go straight down and then straight up with your stamps so it doesn't smudge. A stamping tool such as the MISTI would be perfect for this.
IMG_8990

Once the ink was dry I glued the vellum to the card and then glued the Scallop Stitched Fancy Frame around the edge. I finished the card off with the new Big Hugs Premiere die in pink and then added some glitter with the clear Wink of Stella glitter pen.

Thanks for stopping by the blog, we are excited to share the new year and new products with you!

Winter Scene
by Melissa Rusk

The winter skies have been mostly gray around my house so I decided I needed a card to brighten up winter just a bit. I pulled out my alcohol inks and gave them a try. I am just starting to use them but they are already so much fun.

IMG_8968

For the background I took three colors in blues and teals and played around with the alcohol inks on Yupo paper. Once it was dry I took the alcohol resist ink pad and stamped the Typewriter Holiday Elements background stamp on the alcohol ink background I created. I love how it turned out! I will be using this technique in the future for sure.

To finish the card I die cut the Delicate Pine Frame in white and then colored it with the Clear Wink of Stella glitter brush pen to make it sparkle. I also added some glitter to the tree to add to the winter sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by the blog and I hope you have a wonderful holiday week!

Merry Christmas!
by Melissa Rusk

It's getting close to Christmas and time to make cards is disappearing. Today I have some tips to help when you need a card fast.

IMG_8946

My first tip is to have die cuts on hand and ready to go. All of the items I used on the card today are left over pieces that either didn't work on another project or were extra items that I cut out just in case. It's so nice when you don't have a lot of time but want to make a card to have some items already cut. I used the Gingerbread Cookie cut and decorated it with enamel accents in red and green. The snowflake is from the Crystal Snowflakes set.
IMG_8946

My second tip is to go back to another card you have made to pick up a technique. I have been loving using the Typewriter Holiday Elements stamp set this season. I decided to partially stamp the text background on my card just like I have on a few others. I finished the card off by stamping Merry Christmas from the same set and then added some teal enamel dots.

I hope these tips help you the next time you create something!

Peace
by Melissa Rusk

We got our first big snow this past week so I felt it was time to make some cards with snowflakes on them.

IMG_8914

I went with a different color scheme for this card and die cut snowflakes from the Crystal Snowflakes set and the Pinpoint Snowflake Circle Frame set in two colors of teal paper. I added some splatters of gold glimmer mist on the diagonal to give the snowflakes a path to land on.
IMG_8914

Once the snowflakes were glued to the card I added gold sequins, clear drops and pearls to add more sparkle. I stamped the word peace from the Bold Christmas Greetings set in a coordinating teal color.

Have a wonderful and crafty day!

A Sweet Tag
by Melissa Rusk

Today I have a sweet stamped tag to share with you. It would be perfect on a gift or a baked treat this holiday season. Let's get started!

IMG_8898

I started with a white tag and I stamped the background from the Typewriter Holiday Elements in a light teal color just to give the tag some texture. Next I took two white circles that I cut out and stamped them to become peppermint candies. Here is a photo tutorial of how I stamped them.
IMG_8898

Using the smallest solid triangle from the That's Acute Triangle stamp set and started stamping. I inked up the stamp in red and with the point of the triangle in the center of the circle I started to stamp. Leaving a little bit of white between each triangle I kept stamping, trying to get the center points to line up. It's ok if at some point in your stamping the center looks a little weird, it will all even out when you get to the last triangle. I did this twice to get my two peppermint candies. It was so fun!
IMG_8898

I added some clear wink of stella glitter pen to the candies to make them sparkle. Then I finished off the tag with the cute Gingerbread Cookie die that I cut in brown paper and used red and green enamel accents to decorate.

Have a fabulous and crafty day!

Noel
by Melissa Rusk

We are getting into that busy season of the year where time to make things seems to disappear. Today I have quick and easy card that you can make in minutes.

IMG_8869

I started with some navy patterned Christmas paper and made a rectangle to put on my white card. Then I die cut the beautiful Starlit Nativity Scene die in a gold mirror card paper. I kept all of the pieces of the die together and glued it to the card. I love the way this die just shines on the gold paper.
IMG_8869

To finish it off I stamped the word noel from the Typewriter Holiday Elements stamp set. This card is easy to create for a last minute gift or if you have a lot of cards to make and want something simple.

Have a fabulous day!

Gingerbread Cookie
by Melissa Rusk

Melissa1

Today I have a fun stamped card that I want to share with you all. For the background of my card I did some partial stamping with the background stamp from the Typewriter Holiday Elements stamp set. You can see a picture of how it stamped below.

For the red paper I took one of the triangles from the Equal Triangle stamp set and used a red ink in the same color as my paper to create the tone on tone look for my patterned paper. I alternated the triangles as you can see below and I love how it turned out. It's so much fun to stamp your own patterned papers, I hope you give it a try!

Melissa2

For the cute Gingerbread Cookie, I cut him out in white paper 4 times and glued them all together, it makes it look like a thicker embellishment. Then I colored him in with Copic markers and used some enamel accents in red and green to create the look of frosting.

Thanks for stopping by the blog, have a great day!
