Masculine Best Day Ever
by Angie Cimbalo

2

Hello and welcome! I'm up on the Memory Box blog today with this masculine birthday card I made for a family member. I used the "Put in in Gear" 3D embossing folder with a sentiment from the "You Anchor Me."

Here's another look at my card:

2

Here's how I made my card:

1) Dry emboss a piece of Memory Box watercolor paper, then apply Distress Oxide Vintage Photo ink directly to the paper with the ink pad.

2) I decided to make a mini slimline card so I cut only a portion of the embossed panel with scissors to use on my card front.

3) I glued the portion of the embossed/inked panel that I wanted onto a piece of Kraft Woodgrain card stock also from Memory Box measuring 3" by 6".

4) I matted that panel on a brown piece of card stock that was just slightly larger, and then another mat of the Kraft Woodgrain paper that was 3.5" by 6.5".

5) Then I added that to my card base which was 7" by 6.5", scored at 3.25 on the 6.5" side.

6) I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Clair Pinecone ink and heat embossed in clear.

7) Lastly I added Autumn Jewels and Crystals to the card front.

Here's one last look at my card:

I hope you like my masculine birthday card that I made today. I usually struggle with masculine cards but this gear 3D embossing folder is just perfect for it! Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Valentine for a Special Fella
by Anne Thompson

I found a few pieces of brown plaid paper from the Woodsy Plaid paper pad that I think worked quite well to make a more masculine valentine for today's post.  (I apologize for the quality of the photos--not sure what is going on with my camera.)

IMG_3487-ink

to make this card

  • begin with a white notecard and add a piece of brown WOODSY PLAID PP1018 paper cut 4 X 5.25  Thumbnail
  • using the HEART FRAME BACKGROUND 94606 and KRAFT WOODGRAIN PAPER SH44003, cut out the house to use as a birdhouse with the heart as the opening; cut a few extra hearts--the die cuts both outlines and solid hearts

IMG_3491-ink

  • add the house to the card front; stack three of the heart outlines together and glue into the birdhouse opening; stack the three small hearts together and add to the lower left on the card front using a foam dot
  • die cut the body of the SERENE BIRD 94620 from one of the light brown papers in the EARTH NEUTRAL COLLECTION SP1009 and its wing from one of the dark browns

IMG_3493-ink

  • secure the wing to the bird with a Glue Dot; add foam dimensional dots behind the bird and add it to the card; add a tiny black gem for its eye
  • die cut the GENTLE PINE SPRIG 94597 from a dark brown plaid paper and again from the dark brown cardstock; layer them together with the plaid on top, and tuck under the bird with another Glue Dot

IMG_3488-ink

  • for the inside of the card die cut the letters LOVE using dies from WOODGRAIN ALPHA 94579 from both the dark brown cardstock and the dark brown plaid; layer them together with the plaid on top

IMG_3489-ink

When mailing a card that has lots of dimension on the front and/or gems, add a piece of cardstock or thin bubble wrap on top when placing the card in the envelope.  It will help to protect both the card front and the envelope.  Cards like this usually take more postage and may need to be hand-cancelled.

Masculine Valentine's Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I have a masculine Valentine's card that is ocean themed featuring the Wave 3D embossing folder and Whale Family die.

Background:

Spray Distress Oxide Inks Gathered Twigs, Speckled Egg, and Tumbled Glass on Open Studio Watercolor paper. Lightly spritz with water to slightly blend and activate the Oxide ink.  Heat dry.  Add  gold glitter ink to one side of the Waves 3D embossing folder and emboss the background.  Trim to 4" x 51/4".   The picture does not capture the glitter gold as in real life.  it is spectacular.

Hearts

Die cut hearts from the Neighborhood Heart Frame out of the dark gold Polished Foil paper pad.

Slim Pinpoint Burst Valentine by Jean Okimoto

Send big hugs with a glitzy, glittery pinpoint slimline design in a mix of neutrals and bright reds.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a simple, bold Valentine idea today.

MemoryBoxBigHugsPoshScript, MemoryBoxGlitzyGlitterPad, MemoryBoxGlitterPads, MemoryBoxEarthNeutral6x6, MemoryBox6x6Papers, MemoryBoxCo, MemoryBoxPolishedFoil, MemoryBoxMajesticHuesGlitterPad, MemoryBoxDoubleStitchHappyHeartCutOut, MemoryBoxFairyCrystals, JeanOkimoto, DiecutValentines, HeartDiecuts, HandmadeValentines, DIYCards, MakeCards, Papercrafting, Diecutting, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, MemoryBoxSlimBasicRectangleLayers, MemoryBoxSlimBurstPlate

Cut white cardstock with the 2.8" wide Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Cut the rectangle with the Slim Pinpoint Burst Plate.

Cut two strips of the dark brown Earth Neutral 6x6 sheet with the second-smallest Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Attach the strips along the top and bottom edges of the rectangle.

Cut the red Glitzy Glitter Pad sheet with the second-smallest Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Out die.

Cut the bright red Polished Foil 6x6 with the smallest Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Out die.  Apply glue to the small heart and press it very firmly onto the glittered heart.  The pressure  and the glittered background produce a slightly textured surface - almost like hammered metal or rough concrete.

Cut the BIG Hugs greeting from dark grayish Majestic Hues Glitter Pad 6x6. Cut the background from light kraft cardstock.  Pressure-emboss the backghround with the detailed greeting die.  Embossing adds texture and makes it easier to attach the top layer - just add tiny dots of glue and press it into the debossed areas.

Attach the diecuts to a light kraft slimline card (3-½" x 8-½").  Add dark brown Autumn Fairy Crystals.  Cut a slimline-sized layer of cardstock to protect the card front if you're mailing the card.

I chose earthy neutrals for this guy-card - try it in shades of peach or pink with sparkly iridescent pastel Fairy Crystals for the gals. This basic design would also work as a vertical slimline.

Big thanks to everyone ordering my WINTER BLISS Cards Kit from Impress!  Hope you like the designs and techniques and are discovering ways to use your UFO supplies - unused, forgotten and/or overlooked!

Thanks for visiting our blog...see you again on Friday!

Not Just an Old Lamp Post
by Trina Pham

B634187E-E626-4F4E-9013-562B1EE494B6

Hello everyone.  Hope your first week of the new year is off to a good start.  Mine pretty much picked up where 2021 left off, so I’m hoping for a better year! 🤗  Anyway, it may be a new year, but I’m still playing with products from the Holiday collection last year.  I didn’t get a chance to use the Old Lamp Post die yet, so I stretched it into a birdhouse for a love/Valentine’s card.

Started by die cutting the lamp post, heart frame, branch and birds from Bristol paper.  The heart frame was die cut twice and stacked for dimension.  This also resulted in two cutouts of the inside heart.  Took one of them and blended gray and black dye inks on it… it will be inlaid later on.  Next, traced the lower portion of lamp post onto white woodgrain paper and fussy cut out, forming the background layer.   Used a finger blending brush to apply Picked Raspberry distress ink (DI) to it and the birds.

653E0983-BD92-4DE1-8598-98FDF1A85EDF

Since there was leftover white woodgrain paper, the letters were die cut from it and then ombré colored with Picked Raspberry DI as well.  Adhered and assembled the pieces onto a gray panel then mounted it onto a white card base.  Dotted in the birds’ eyes with a fine black pen to finish.

081F9D0D-4A1F-45B9-80E7-5DB63074CB2E

So as I was completing my card, I saw something else I could stretch this lamp post to.  😉

313EE059-EFED-4480-B149-3043CC31932F

It makes an adorable coffee cup, don’t you think?  I decided to make a masculine birthday card this time.  As you can see, the top of the lamp post was cut off.  The other heart cutout from the first card was colored with Candied Apple and Black Soot DI.

AD3A89D1-5CED-4337-8A61-57330161FA84

The cup sleeve was embossed with the Ringadings 3D embossing folder, then a light brushing of Black Soot DI was applied to help the pattern show.  A punny sentiment finished it off!

And that is it from me.  Thank you for joining me today.  Enjoy your day.

Serene Bird and Holiday Evergreens by Jean Okimoto

Red felt and Polished Foil add warmth and shine to a Serene Bird perched on mixed evergreens. Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a very traditional design from our 2021 Holiday Collection.

MemoryBoxSereneBirdAndBranch, MemoryBoxHouseFrame, MemoryBoxHouseFrameBackground, MemoryBoxPineNeedleTrio, MemoryBoxChristmasFairyJewels, MemoryBoxLushGreen6x6, MemoryBoxEarthNeutral6x6, MemoryBoxSunnyOrange6x6, MemoryBoxWoodsyPlaid6x6, MemoryBoxPolishedFoil, JeanOkimoto, DIYHolidayCards, HandmadeCards, Papercrafts, HolidayDiecuts, BirdDiecuts, BirdhouseDiecuts, PlaidCards, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Cut the olive green Woodsy Plaid 6x6 with the House Frame Background.  Cut the entrance with the circle die - don't remove the outer ring - attach it as a base behind solid ring for dimension.  Cut the dark olive-brown 6x6 from the Earth Neutral Collection with the ring. Cut the House Frame - just down to the first scored section at the bottom - with the same 6x6.

Assemble the house and tie it with gold cord.  Curl the cord with the edge of a bonefolder or the plastic flower burnishing tool - follow the curve of the cord for loose, loopy curls.

Attach adhesive label paper - or a sticker sheet - to red felt and a small section of the red Polished Foil 6x6 sheet.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and adds dimension to the felt and foil sheet.  Cut the beak from an orange sheet in the Sunny Orange Collection.  Define the eye with a skewer or toothpick, then attach a scrap of black cardstock behind it.

Cut the leafy branch from the Serene Bird set twice from a lime green 6x6 in the Lush Green Collection.  Cut Pine Needle Trio from a blue-green sheet.

MemoryBoxSereneBirdAndBranch, MemoryBoxHouseFrame, MemoryBoxHouseFrameBackground, MemoryBoxPineNeedleTrio, MemoryBoxChristmasFairyJewels, MemoryBoxLushGreen6x6, MemoryBoxEarthNeutral6x6, MemoryBoxSunnyOrange6x6, MemoryBoxWoodsyPlaid6x6, MemoryBoxPolishedFoil, JeanOkimoto, DIYHolidayCards, HandmadeCards, Papercrafts, HolidayDiecuts, BirdDiecuts, BirdhouseDiecuts, PlaidCards, ImpressCardsAndCrafts
Attach the diecuts to a natural A6 card (4-½" x 6-¼") - use foamdots for the bird.  Don't worry...the bird sits on the soft leafy branches - not the pokey pines!  Add bright red Christmas Fairy Jewels.

We'll start sharing Valentine designs soon.  Here's an early idea - diecut a heart-shaped entrance to the house and switch to a new color scheme and 3 Serene Bird branches instead of pines. You'll be ready for February 14th!

Thanks for visiting...see you again this weekend!

Spread the Cheer!
by Angie Cimbalo

Wm1

Hello and welcome!
It's Angie here today with this masculine "Spread the Cheer" holiday card!
Here's a closer look:

Wm close

As you can see I used a lot of masculine looking colors and items on my card.
First I used the "Curled Holly Branch die" and cut it twice from a dark brown card stock from the "Earth Neutral paper pack, and once from plaid paper from the "Woodsy Plaid" paper pack and layered them slightly offset. I took Distress Ink in "Tea Dye" and inked the edges of the holly die cut. Next I took a piece of a brown paper sack and tore a square piece out of it, then ran it through my embossing machine with the Ringadings 3D embossing folder. I also inked the torn edges of paper sack square with the ink.

I adhered it to the center of a square piece of card stock 4.5" by 4.5" and added both the holly cut and a sentiment from the "Festive Christmas Greetings" stamp set. Lastly I added some "Autumn Fairy Crystals" to the berries on the holly die cut. If you look at the picture below, you can see just how pretty those crystals are as they reflect light. Just gorgeous!

Two Very Different "You Anchor Me" Cards for Guys
by Anne Thompson

I knew that I wanted to use the "You Anchor Me" clear stamps and dies set this week to create some cards for guys that could be used for a variety of occasions.  This is the first card I made:

IMG_3294-ink

  • I started with a white notecard and covered the front with brown dot paper from the Garland Stripes and Dots paper pad PP1011.
  • I used VersaMark ink to stamp the anchor from the You Anchor Me stamps and dies set CL5269D on white cardstock, embossed it with Detail Gold embossing powder, and cut it out with the corresponding die.
  • I used a scrap of the dot paper and stamped the sentiment "knowing you are always there anchors me" on the stripe side of that paper with VersaMark ink and embossed it in gold, trimmed it down and mounted it on a scrap of dark brown cardstock from the Earth Neutral Collection SP1009.
  • I cut the swirly rope from the End of My Rope dies set 94546 from more of the dark brown cardstock.
  • To complete the card, I adhered the sentiment block in the upper righthand corner and then threaded the rope through the hole in the anchor and secured both to the card front using glue dots.

For the second card, I wanted to play with the idea of stripes which is this month's blog challenge.  I used glitter paper to cut out lots of swirly ropes and those became my stripes.

IMG_3296-ink

  • I had one piece of turquoise plaid paper left from the Dashing Holiday paper pad PP1001 which I used to cover the front of a white notecard.
  • I used five of the swirly ropes as stripes across the front of the notecard.
  • I added three Marina Sailboats 94575 cut from white and turquoise cardstock scraps that I backed first with Scor-Tape.
  • Inside I added another rope, a silver-embossed anchor, and the sentiment "drop Anchor where your heart is".

IMG_3297-ink

These are very versatile stamps and dies that can be combined in any number of ways.

Knowing You Are There Nautical Card
by Angie Cimbalo

Hello welcome, it's Angie here today with this nautical card using lots of products from Memory Box.  Some are from the brand new 2021 Summer Day Dreams release and others from the 2021 Under the Sea Spring release.  Here's another look at my card:

The sentiment and anchor I used are from the "You Anchor Me" stamp set.  The sentiment is stamped in Versafine Clair Pinecone ink and heat embossed in clear and the anchor was stamped in Hero Arts Navy Ink, then die cut with the coordinating die.  Here's a closer look at the Ocean Porthole die with torn paper to represent water and sand.  I also put metal brads on the circles in the porthole die and twine on the anchor.

For the sand and water papers along with the kraft woodgrain background, I used my scissors edge to rough up the edges for a tattered look.  The background wood planks were die cut with the Wood Grain Planks die and cut from ivory woodgrain paper, then inked with Distress ink as seen below:

Then I glued them to some white card stock and cut the excess white off.

I matted that on a piece of cream woodgrain paper then on kraft woodgrain paper.
The torn paper for the water is from the Fresh Aqua paper pack.  The porthole die was also cut from kraft woodgrain paper then adhered to a white one and inked several times with the Distress Ink.

Below you can see to make the sand layer, I used the back of the woodgrain paper and inked it lightly then added some light tan dots with an alcohol marker.

I stamped the sentiment and adhered it inside the porthole just at the top so I could slip in the water and sand papers.  Once they were situated, I cut off the extra.  The anchor was attached in one spot with glue, then with glue dots I adhered the twine on the porthole and the back of the circle.  The porthole was then popped up on fun foam circle for dimension.

Lastly I added one of the "Graceful Ocean Birds" after coloring his beak, legs and adding an eye with a black marker.  Here's closer look at the bird:

And here's one last look at my card with all the Memory Box products:

I love making nautical cards and they are so easy to do when you have such amazing ocean dies and stamps from Memory Box.  Be sure to check out all the new releases for 2021 HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
