Halloween Easel
by Trina Pham

3BDE9DBA-771C-44E8-9C6A-72601451F0CF

Hello there.  I can’t get enough of these adorable ghosts, so I had to use them again but this time for a Halloween easel card.

Started by die cutting a moon mask with a Circle Basics die and attached it to an A2 size Bristol panel.  Using blender brushes, ink blended Speckled Egg, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot distress inks for the sky.  Splattered with diluted black and white gouache paints for some texture.

2D79E8ED-12C5-4CEC-84A5-1049E25F8152

The Fancy Gate Globe was then die cut twice from black cardstock.  Trimmed off the arches on both; on one of them, cut in half and cut away the gate details.  Adhered them together like so to create a fence with the gate.  Great way to stretch your supplies. 😉

Next, die cut the Woodgrain Tree Trunk from black cardstock and the ghosts from white.  Added shading to the moon and ghosts with Copic Sketch markers, then assemble the scene onto the panel.  The right ghost was popped up with foam adhesive for dimension.  Spritz the entire panel with a shimmer spray for some sparkle (sorry couldn’t capture it in the photos).

5AA28C96-EAF4-4587-B93D-114B701A664D

To create the easel base, scored the front of an A2 size top folding card base at 2.75” and adhered the panel to the bottom half below the scored line.  The Happy Halloween Posh Script sentiment with shadow was then die cut from white and navy cardstock to be used as the stopper.  Here’s a side view of it all propped up.

And here’s the view from the front.

And that is it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Emboss, Stencil and Diecut the Ocean Fish by Jean Okimoto

Tropical fish - from the new Ocean Fish 3D Embossing Folder and Cutting Dies Set - have friendly conversations here today.  They're embossed, stenciled with Distress Oxides and diecut for an all-occasion card.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a summer design from our Island Vacation release.

The fish seem to have personalities - so I've named them.   From left to right, top to bottom - Tiger, Mermaid, Dimples, Finn, Angel, Smiley, Papaya and Captain. (Yes, I should get out more after 27 months of hunkering down.)

MemoryBoxCo, MemoryBoxOceanFish3DEmbossingFolderAndDies, MemoryBoxOceanFishStencil, MemoryBoxWaves3DEmbossingFolder, MemoryBoxFreshAqua6x6, MemoryBoxClearFairyDrops, MemoryBoxRectangleBasicsSet, JeanOkimoto, HandmadeCards, NauticalCards, FishCards, OceanCards, FishDiecuts, DiecutCards, Embossing, 3DEmbossing, StenciledCards, Stencils, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Spritz water into the air and pass smooth heavy white cardstock through the mist to soften the cardstock and make it more pliable for embossing.  Repeat with the reverse side of the cardstock. Emboss it  with the 3D Ocean Fish Embossing Folder. Stencil the fish with the Ocean Fish Stencil Set and Distress Oxides.  Inks used here are spiced marmalade, dried marigold, fossilized amber, wild honey, iced spruce, peeled paint, salvaged patina and broken china.  There are separate dies for the fins - but I just stenciled contrasting colors directly onto the fish.  Dry the ink and diecut the fish with the Ocean Fish dies.

Cut a teal 6x6 from the Fresh Aqua Collection with the 3-¾" x 5" Rectangle Basics die.  Prep it for embossing and emboss it with the Waves 3D Embossing Folder.

Attach the diecuts to a white A6 card (4-½" x 6-¼") - use foam tape for some of the fishes.

Add Clear Fairy Drops.  Cut an A6-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front during mailing.

Have fun stenciling the Ocean Fish in your favorite colors - pearlescent inks like Brilliance would be great too.

Thanks for visiting our blog!

Summers come and go so quickly in Seattle - here's another design featuring our Island Vacation release.  A Grand Tulip Shell and fish create a relaxing tropical scene on a slimline design. The shimmery texture and dimension of the new Ocean Fish 3D Embossing Folder and Cutting Dies Set are great for any occasion.   Hi, Jean Okimoto here with breezy ocean colors to refresh a warm summer day.

Cut 3 fish from the new Ocean Fish 3D Embossing Folder and Cutting Dies set from pale blue, aqua and teal sheets from the Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad.  Place them in the folder and emboss them using the plate(s) required for your machine.  Details - including the tiny dotted fishscales and striped fins and tails - add shimmery dimension to the diecuts.

Cut the solid Grand Tulip Shell from smooth white cardstock.  Place it in the detailed Grand Tulip Shell die and sponge or brush it with Distress Oxides.  Cut a partial paper stencil of the narrow, pointy tip and use it to stencil twisted citron.  Colors used here are shaded lilac, tumbled glass, salvaged patina and twisted citron.  Dry the inks.

Cut the delicate shell outline from the white Polished Foil Pad sheet.  Attach it to the shell background.

Cut 2 of the fine-striped rope from the End of My Rope set.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-½" x 8-½").  Overlap the ends of the rope at the center and cover them with the shell.  Use foam tape for the shell and the little guy.

Attach the lightest Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones. Cut a slimline-sized layer of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

The Ocean Fish 3D Embossing Folder and Cutting Dies Set is #EF1031.

Hope you're enjoying the vacation-themed designs we're creating for you.  Summer flies by so quickly - especially here!

Thanks for visiting...see you in July!

Nautical Birthday
by Trina Pham

70187DDC-D68E-4D3E-874C-D69274C404BF

Hello everyone.  I have a lot of birthdays coming up, so I am sharing a simple nautical birthday card today.

Started by creating the life preserver.  Used two Circle Basics dies to die cut a ring from white cardstock and another from Ocean Blue paper.  Used scissors to cut sections from the blue one and adhered them onto the white one.  The ropes were die cut from white paper, then light gray dye ink was applied to the edges with a detailed blender tool.  Assembled the life preserver, then added shading to it with a cool gray Copic marker.

B8137CD4-BB2B-4EE8-B86C-922668228D38

The background is Bristol paper embossed with the Waves 3D embossing folder.  I used the debossed side.  I also wanted the opening of the life preserver to be distinct from the waves background, so a circle was die cut from white woodgrain paper to back it.  The sentiment from Signature Greetings stamp set was white heat embossed onto black cardstock and fussy cut out before the card was assembled onto a white card base to finish.

Pretty straight forward.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful week.

Masculine Best Day Ever
by Angie Cimbalo

2

Hello and welcome! I'm up on the Memory Box blog today with this masculine birthday card I made for a family member. I used the "Put in in Gear" 3D embossing folder with a sentiment from the "You Anchor Me."

Here's another look at my card:

2

Here's how I made my card:

1) Dry emboss a piece of Memory Box watercolor paper, then apply Distress Oxide Vintage Photo ink directly to the paper with the ink pad.

2) I decided to make a mini slimline card so I cut only a portion of the embossed panel with scissors to use on my card front.

3) I glued the portion of the embossed/inked panel that I wanted onto a piece of Kraft Woodgrain card stock also from Memory Box measuring 3" by 6".

4) I matted that panel on a brown piece of card stock that was just slightly larger, and then another mat of the Kraft Woodgrain paper that was 3.5" by 6.5".

5) Then I added that to my card base which was 7" by 6.5", scored at 3.25 on the 6.5" side.

6) I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Clair Pinecone ink and heat embossed in clear.

7) Lastly I added Autumn Jewels and Crystals to the card front.

Here's one last look at my card:

I hope you like my masculine birthday card that I made today. I usually struggle with masculine cards but this gear 3D embossing folder is just perfect for it! Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Valentine for a Special Fella
by Anne Thompson

I found a few pieces of brown plaid paper from the Woodsy Plaid paper pad that I think worked quite well to make a more masculine valentine for today's post.  (I apologize for the quality of the photos--not sure what is going on with my camera.)

IMG_3487-ink

to make this card

  • begin with a white notecard and add a piece of brown WOODSY PLAID PP1018 paper cut 4 X 5.25  Thumbnail
  • using the HEART FRAME BACKGROUND 94606 and KRAFT WOODGRAIN PAPER SH44003, cut out the house to use as a birdhouse with the heart as the opening; cut a few extra hearts--the die cuts both outlines and solid hearts

IMG_3491-ink

  • add the house to the card front; stack three of the heart outlines together and glue into the birdhouse opening; stack the three small hearts together and add to the lower left on the card front using a foam dot
  • die cut the body of the SERENE BIRD 94620 from one of the light brown papers in the EARTH NEUTRAL COLLECTION SP1009 and its wing from one of the dark browns

IMG_3493-ink

  • secure the wing to the bird with a Glue Dot; add foam dimensional dots behind the bird and add it to the card; add a tiny black gem for its eye
  • die cut the GENTLE PINE SPRIG 94597 from a dark brown plaid paper and again from the dark brown cardstock; layer them together with the plaid on top, and tuck under the bird with another Glue Dot

IMG_3488-ink

  • for the inside of the card die cut the letters LOVE using dies from WOODGRAIN ALPHA 94579 from both the dark brown cardstock and the dark brown plaid; layer them together with the plaid on top

IMG_3489-ink

When mailing a card that has lots of dimension on the front and/or gems, add a piece of cardstock or thin bubble wrap on top when placing the card in the envelope.  It will help to protect both the card front and the envelope.  Cards like this usually take more postage and may need to be hand-cancelled.

Happy Crafting!

Slim Pinpoint Burst Valentine by Jean Okimoto

Send big hugs with a glitzy, glittery pinpoint slimline design in a mix of neutrals and bright reds.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a simple, bold Valentine idea today.

MemoryBoxBigHugsPoshScript, MemoryBoxGlitzyGlitterPad, MemoryBoxGlitterPads, MemoryBoxEarthNeutral6x6, MemoryBox6x6Papers, MemoryBoxCo, MemoryBoxPolishedFoil, MemoryBoxMajesticHuesGlitterPad, MemoryBoxDoubleStitchHappyHeartCutOut, MemoryBoxFairyCrystals, JeanOkimoto, DiecutValentines, HeartDiecuts, HandmadeValentines, DIYCards, MakeCards, Papercrafting, Diecutting, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, MemoryBoxSlimBasicRectangleLayers, MemoryBoxSlimBurstPlate

Cut white cardstock with the 2.8" wide Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Cut the rectangle with the Slim Pinpoint Burst Plate.

Cut two strips of the dark brown Earth Neutral 6x6 sheet with the second-smallest Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Attach the strips along the top and bottom edges of the rectangle.

Cut the red Glitzy Glitter Pad sheet with the second-smallest Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Out die.

Cut the bright red Polished Foil 6x6 with the smallest Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Out die.  Apply glue to the small heart and press it very firmly onto the glittered heart.  The pressure  and the glittered background produce a slightly textured surface - almost like hammered metal or rough concrete.

Cut the BIG Hugs greeting from dark grayish Majestic Hues Glitter Pad 6x6. Cut the background from light kraft cardstock.  Pressure-emboss the backghround with the detailed greeting die.  Embossing adds texture and makes it easier to attach the top layer - just add tiny dots of glue and press it into the debossed areas.

MemoryBoxBigHugsPoshScript, MemoryBoxGlitzyGlitterPad, MemoryBoxGlitterPads, MemoryBoxEarthNeutral6x6, MemoryBox6x6Papers, MemoryBoxCo, MemoryBoxPolishedFoil, MemoryBoxMajesticHuesGlitterPad, MemoryBoxDoubleStitchHappyHeartCutOut, MemoryBoxFairyCrystals, JeanOkimoto, DiecutValentines, HeartDiecuts, HandmadeValentines, DIYCards, MakeCards, Papercrafting, Diecutting, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, MemoryBoxSlimBasicRectangleLayers, MemoryBoxSlimBurstPlate

Attach the diecuts to a light kraft slimline card (3-½" x 8-½").  Add dark brown Autumn Fairy Crystals.  Cut a slimline-sized layer of cardstock to protect the card front if you're mailing the card.

I chose earthy neutrals for this guy-card - try it in shades of peach or pink with sparkly iridescent pastel Fairy Crystals for the gals. This basic design would also work as a vertical slimline.

Big thanks to everyone ordering my WINTER BLISS Cards Kit from Impress!  Hope you like the designs and techniques and are discovering ways to use your UFO supplies - unused, forgotten and/or overlooked!

Thanks for visiting our blog...see you again on Friday!

Not Just an Old Lamp Post
by Trina Pham

B634187E-E626-4F4E-9013-562B1EE494B6

Hello everyone.  Hope your first week of the new year is off to a good start.  Mine pretty much picked up where 2021 left off, so I’m hoping for a better year! 🤗  Anyway, it may be a new year, but I’m still playing with products from the Holiday collection last year.  I didn’t get a chance to use the Old Lamp Post die yet, so I stretched it into a birdhouse for a love/Valentine’s card.

Started by die cutting the lamp post, heart frame, branch and birds from Bristol paper.  The heart frame was die cut twice and stacked for dimension.  This also resulted in two cutouts of the inside heart.  Took one of them and blended gray and black dye inks on it… it will be inlaid later on.  Next, traced the lower portion of lamp post onto white woodgrain paper and fussy cut out, forming the background layer.   Used a finger blending brush to apply Picked Raspberry distress ink (DI) to it and the birds.

653E0983-BD92-4DE1-8598-98FDF1A85EDF

Since there was leftover white woodgrain paper, the letters were die cut from it and then ombré colored with Picked Raspberry DI as well.  Adhered and assembled the pieces onto a gray panel then mounted it onto a white card base.  Dotted in the birds’ eyes with a fine black pen to finish.

081F9D0D-4A1F-45B9-80E7-5DB63074CB2E

So as I was completing my card, I saw something else I could stretch this lamp post to.  😉

313EE059-EFED-4480-B149-3043CC31932F

It makes an adorable coffee cup, don’t you think?  I decided to make a masculine birthday card this time.  As you can see, the top of the lamp post was cut off.  The other heart cutout from the first card was colored with Candied Apple and Black Soot DI.

AD3A89D1-5CED-4337-8A61-57330161FA84

The cup sleeve was embossed with the Ringadings 3D embossing folder, then a light brushing of Black Soot DI was applied to help the pattern show.  A punny sentiment finished it off!

And that is it from me.  Thank you for joining me today.  Enjoy your day.
