Warm Wishes with the Stitched Circle and Knotted Circle Wreaths by Jean Okimoto

P1170789
Let the Stitched Circle Wreath add a burst of contemporary color to a traditional design.  Need glitter?  Bright sparkly berries and bows from the Mistletoe Bundle set are the perfect accents.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with another holiday idea for you.

P1170770

Prep Stitched Circle Wreath by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help release the tiny dots.  Cut it from Granny Smith cardstock.  Trim it with the 3-¼" and 1-¼" Circle Basics dies.  Stitch the starbursts with green floss - tape the ends of the floss to the backside with Scotch Transparent Tape (Magic Tape might tear).

Cut the largest Knotted Circle Wreath from Granny Smith too.  Cut the Mistletoe Bundle berries and two bows from red glittered cardstock in the 6x6 Holiday Glitter Pad.

Prep the smoother side of Intense Kiwi carstock with the embossing powder tool and stamp the greeting - from the Berry Wreath Clear Stamp and Die Set - with VersaMark and emboss it with detail clear powder.  Love that typeface!

Attach everything to a side-folded A2 card of Intense Kiwi cardstock - attach the greeting with foam tape.

P1170800

Prep the inside with the powder tool and stamp and emboss another greeting from the set.  Attach a few more glittered dots.

P1170785

Hope you're enjoying the versatility of the new ready-to-stitch designs (94404, 05, 06, 07) as much as I am.  There are so many ways to use them with a wide range of basic threads and sparkly specialty yarns.  I can't sew, knit, quilt or crochet - but I can stitch these simple designs!

Thanks for visiting - see you on Thursday...

Halloween Treat Wrappers with Fall and Winter Dies by Jean Okimoto

P1000607

Designs from our latest Christmas collection are great for Halloween treat wrappers too!  Mistletoe Swags grow into a scary tangle of twigs, cozy Cabin Collage becomes a haunted house and Little Orchard Collage sets the scene for ghosts, bats and pumpkins.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a project inspired by a wintry fall weekend.

P1000598

Cut black and dark orange cardstock into 8-½" x 3" strips.  Score and crease them at 4-⅛" and 4-⅜" to form a wrapper for snack-size KitKats, chocolate bars or Mounds.  Trim the corners with a corner rounder.

P1170744

The Haunted Entrance Dome Layer set includes ghosts and pumpkins to cut from white and light orange cardstock. Cut the Poppystamps Whittle Pumpkins and Whittle Ghosts too.   Attach black cardstock scraps behind the Whittle Ghosts and Pumpkins for their mouths.

P1170738

Cut white and dark kraft cardstock with the medium-sized Geodesic Oval die.  We're using the inner oval offcuts here, save the delicate oval frame for another project. Cut Little Orchard Collage from the offcuts.   Cut a set of tree shapes from orange cardstock.  Cut the Haunted Entrance Dome Layer bats from the offcuts too.  Attach the diecuts to black wrappers.

P1170734

Cut Cabin Collage from black cardstock, trim it and round the corners.  Attach it to a dark kraft wrapper - don't adhere the front and back porch sides. Add the ghosts and pumpkins.

Cut two sets of Mistletoe Swags from black cardstock - we're using two of the narrower diecuts and one of the wide diecut.  Attach them to the dark orange wrapper - adhere just the outer sections.  Tuck the ghosts and pumpkin behind the swags.

Punch ¼" holes for the ties. Attach the candy with double-stick tape.  Tie the wrappers with green tulle or netting.  I used about 10" of 3" wide green netting and trimmed the ends.

Thanks for visiting...make treat wrappers, eat candy and enjoy the weekend!

Build a Background for the Gilded Angel by Jean Okimoto

P1170660 2

Here's another mix of new dies and classic favorites designed to make the most of our Memory Box stash.  Trim the new Pinpoint Burst Plate with a Knotted Circle Wreath and create a radiant background for the Gilded Angel.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a detailed - but simple - card in just a few colors.

P1170687

Cut white cardstock with the largest Knotted Circle Wreath.  Cut the offcut with the central portion of the Pinpoint Burst Plate.  Wondering if you'll have a zillion little dots falling out?   No - thank goodness - the die pierces the cardstock without creating a pile of loose dots!

Cut the wreath again from Smoky cardstock and attach the interior circle behind the white circle to add contrast to the pinpoint design.  Attach the gray and white pieces to a side-folded A-2 card of Petunia cardstock.

Cut delicate Gilded Angel from the silver sheet in the new Polished Foil 6x6 Pad - save the two pieces we'll attach as accents later.   The new Memory Box Polished Foils are the perfect weight for detailed designs and you won't have any of those annoying little metallic "strings" found on double-layered foil cardstock.

Cut the solid Gilded Angel Background from the smother side of Petunia cardstock and pressure-emboss it with the detailed Gilded Angel using the plate(s) and rubber embossing mat required for your machine. Embossing the background adds dimension and makes it easy to inset and attach the detailed silver diecut.  Attach the silver diecut as an "offset-inset."

P1170677

Stamp the greeting - from the new Spirit of Christmas Clear Stamp and Die Set - on white cardstock with Orchid Brilliance.  Dry the ink, then diecut the cardstock with the smallest Knotted Circle Wreath.  Cut gray cardstock too - for the narrow crescent accents.

P1170668

Use the entire design - or just a portion - of the new Pinpoint Plates for cards, layouts and mixed medial projects.  Layer them over contrasting cardstock to make the designs stand out. View our growing collection of pinpoint dies and create great holiday and everyday greetings!

Thanks for visiting...see you again this weekend!

Build the New Charming Snowman by Jean Okimoto

P1170580 2

Diecut a Pinpoint Snowflake Plate and construct the new Charming Snowman Collage, complete with paper-pieced glittery accents.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with two of our newest holiday designs.  It feels like we skipped fall and went directly from summer to winter...so let's build a snowman today.

P1170608

Cut Pinpoint Snowflake Plate and the mid-sized Stylish Rectangle from smooth white cardstock.  Cut Charming Snowman Collage from the rectangle offcut.

Attach black and orange cardstock scraps for the head, eyes, nose and buttons.  The buttons are actually partially-cut, but I used a skewer to push the cardstock back and form squarish circles, like lumps of coal.

Cut the scarf from the green 6x6 Holiday Glitter Pad sheet. A tip - turn the glittered cardstock over and trim the scarf from the white side if the glitter and shiny blade make it hard to see what you're trimming. Cut the twiggy arms from dark kraft cardstock - including the sections that extend from the arm over to the edge of the snowman.  Place pieces of tape across backside of the collage where the scarf and arms will be inserted and press the diecuts onto the exposed adhesive.

Attach the Poppystamps Flurries Wide Washi Tape to black cardstock.  Another tip - run the tape-covered cardstock through your diecut machine with the cutting plate(s) to firmly compress the tape. Attach the tape-covered cardstock behind the snowman to fill the outlines.

Cut Resting Birds from the red Holiday Glitter Pad sheet.

Attach the diecuts to a top-folded textured dark gray A-2 card.

P1170596

Cut smooth white cardstock with the smallest Stylish Rectangle die.  Stamp the greeting - from the Christmas Tiles Clear Stamp Set - with Tulip Red VersaFine Clair.  Add a Resting Bird.

P1170591 2

Here's a link to view our latest release - including some beautiful designs from Birch Press Designs too.  It's a very contemporary collection of favorite holiday icons.  Enjoy!

Thanks for visiting...see you next week!

Turn Stitched Burst into a Spiderweb by Jean Okimoto

Ready for Halloween?  Stitch a spiderweb using the Stitched Burst die, add a pair of bats, some pumpkins and glittery ghosts too!  Hi, Jean Okimoto here - subbing glittery bats for spiders because I don't have a spider die.  Big bats swooping down over little ghosts...why not?

MemoryBoxStitchedBurst, MemoryBoxCaveBat, MemoryBoxHauntedEntranceDomeLayer, MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles, MemoryBoxOpenStudioWatercolorPaper, MemoryBox DelicatePastelsGlitterPad, MemoryBoxFrostedGlitterPad, MemoryBoxHalloweenPumpkinClearStampAndDieSet, JeanOkimoto, HalloweenDiecuts, StitchedCards, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, StampsAndMemories

Spritz the textured side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper with a light mist of water.  Sponge or brush the damp paper with ripe persimmon, mowed lawn and black soot Distress Oxides.  Spritz it again, then heat-set it.  Cut it with the 3-½" x 4-¾" Wrapped Stitch Rectangles die and the Stitched Burst.  Punch a ⅛" hole near the center of the burst.

Stitch it with Aunt Lydia's White Pearl Metallic Crochet Thread - tape the thread ends on the reverse side with Scotch Transparent Tape (Magic Tape might tear).  The thread makes the web sparkle - like spiderwebs on a rainy day.

Cut the Cave Bat and the 3 bats from the Haunted Entrance Dome Layer set from the black Frosted Glitter Pad 6x6 sheet.  Cut the ghosts from a white Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad 6x6 sheet.  Cut the pumpkins from a scrap of watercolor paper sponged with ripe persimmon Distress Oxide.

Attach the diecuts to a white A-2 card - use foam dots for the Cave Bat and the second pumpkin from the left.

P1170502 2

Blend mowed lawn and ripe persimmon onto the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor paper - my sponges had some of the black soot ink on them. Stamp the greeting - from the Halloween Pumpkin Clear Stamp and Die Set - with Onyx Black Versafine.  Emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut it with the 3-¼" x 2" Wrapped Stitch Rectangles die.  Attach the remaining two bats.

I love the stitching dies - for what they actually are, and for what they can be with a little imagination.  Like using the Stitched Tree die to create a giant candy corn.  That's another project...wish me luck with that!

Fall Greetings…Thankful by Jean Okimoto

P1170463 2

Gold embossing and ink-shading give a vintage look to the bold Halloween Pumpkin Clear Stamp and Die Set.  Add contemporary colors like chartreuse and dark teal to update it for a simple fall thank you or Thanksgiving card.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a big, bright pumpkin card.

Stamp the bold pumpkin on dark orange cardstock with VersaMark and emboss it with detail gold powder.  Stamp and emboss the extra leaves on chartreuse cardstock.  Cut the pumpkin and leaves with the coordinating dies. Shade and edge the pumpkin diecut with Morocco Memento Luxe and the leaves with Spanish Moss VersaFine.

Stamp the greeting - from the Harvest Love and Kindness Clear Stamp and Die Set - on kraft cardstock with Deep Lagoon VersaFine.  Emboss it with detail clear powder.

Attach dark orange (½" x 4"), chartreuse ( ¾" x 4-½") and dark teal (1" x 5") accent strips to a 5-½" square card of kraft cardstock.  Attach the greeting with foam dots.

Add ¼" punched circles of the gold sheet from the 6x6 Holiday Glitter Pad.

P1170471 2

Square cards require extra postage and handling  - but this bold pumpkin deserves the attention!

Thanks for visiting...have a great weekend!

Combine Haunted Dome Layers and the Adriana Easel Set by Jean Okimoto

P1170421

Halloween somehow makes it OK to layer everything onto a single card - here's my example.  Layers upon layers and stacked, overlapped diecuts create a spooky scene for you today.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with the upright, intended version of an Adriana Easel card.

P1170449

Cut the card front and easel sections of the Poppystamps Adriana Easel Set from red-orange cardstock.

P1170429

Fold the narrow top tab of the easel backwards on the scoreline.  Fold the easel forward on the 2nd scoreline.  Press both folds with a bonefolder.  Pressure-emboss the card front with the leafy oval die from the Adriana set using the plates and embossing mat required for your machine.

Align and attach the card front to the folded easel - the tab supports the card front.  Cut the leafy oval from black cardstock and attach it to the pressure-embossed card front.  Embossing adds extra dimension and makes it easy to attach the delicate diecut as an inset layer.

Cut Haunted House Dome Layer from dark kraft cardstock.  Cut a ½" circle of the pale yellow-white sheet in the 6x6 Dedlicate Pastel Glitter Pad.  Cut the Haunted Dome Entrance Layer from the red-orange cardstock.  Trim both dome layers along the bottom scoreline, removing about ¼" of cardstock  Cut three ghosts - from the Haunted Dome Entrance set - from heavy white cardstock. Define the eyes using a piercing tool.  Attach a black cardstock scrap behind one of the small ghosts for the mouth.  The other two will be layered over the black background.

Cut the bat from theblack Frosted Glitter Pad 6x6 sheet.  Assemble the spooky scene by layering everything over the black background.

Stamp the greeting, frame and leaves from the Halloween Pumpkin Clear Stamp and Die set on orange-red cardstock with Onyx Black VersaFine.  Dry the ink then diecut the leaves and frame.  Shade the edges with Onyx Black ink.

P1170453

Cut the long, narrow easel "stopper" from the black glittered 6x6 sheet.  Cut another one from a cardboard scrap and layer them for dimension.

Hope you like the detailed, layered look of this card - definitely not CAS - but it's OK, it's Halloween!

Big thanks to everyone who ordered my SPOOKY, CREEPY + COOL Halloween class kits from Impress and Stamps + Memories.  Lots of diecuts, little pieces and techniques!

Thanks for visiting...see you again this weekend!

Bats in the Jack o Lantern Bucket by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxJackOLanternBucket, MemoryBoxHaunedEntrance DomeLayer, MemoryBoxHalloweenPumpkinClearStampAndDieSet, MemoryBoxFrostedGlitterPad, PoppystamopsAdrianaPopUpEaselSet, HalloweenDiecuts, ShapedCards, JeanOkimoto, EaselCards

Glittery bats flying out of a candy bucket, a repurposed easel card and lacy fall foliage...are you ready for Halloween?  The Poppystamps Adriana Pop Up Easel Set - turned sideways - creates a leafy background for this fall scene.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a fun fall design.

Cut the Jack o Lantern Bucket face and handle from light orange cardstock.  Cut the plain semi-circle from dark gray cardstock.  Cut the bats - from the Haunted Entrance Dome Layer set - from the black sheet in the 6x6 Frosted Glitter Pack.

Prep the leafy background die from the Poppystamps Adriana Pop Up Easel Set by rubbing it briskly with a sheet of scrunched waxed paper.  It'll help release the delicate diecut and little offcuts.  Cut it from dark orange cardstock.

Cut the card front and easel sections from dark gray cardstock.  Crease the easel's tab backwards to support the card front and leafy diecut.  Attach the card front, bucket and bats.

MemoryBoxJackOLanternBucket, MemoryBoxHaunedEntrance DomeLayer, MemoryBoxHalloweenPumpkinClearStampAndDieSet, MemoryBoxFrostedGlitterPad, PoppystamopsAdrianaPopUpEaselSet, HalloweenDiecuts, ShapedCards, JeanOkimoto, EaselCards

Stamp the greeting - from the Halloween Pumpkin Clear Stamps and Dies Set - on light gray cardstock with Habanero VersaFine.  Dry the the ink and cut the greeting with the coordinating die.

MemoryBoxJackOLanternBucket, MemoryBoxHaunedEntrance DomeLayer, MemoryBoxHalloweenPumpkinClearStampAndDieSet, MemoryBoxFrostedGlitterPad, PoppystamopsAdrianaPopUpEaselSet, HalloweenDiecuts, ShapedCards, JeanOkimoto, EaselCards

Add simple designs - like the Jack o Lantern Bucket and bats - to a detailed background to balance the design elements.  The shaped card is actually designed to stand vertically, with a diecut piece serving as a "stopper" to keep the card upright.  Try that deisgn with the Jack o Lantern Bucket and these bats too!

Share the Spirit of Christmas by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxGarland6x6Pack, MemoryBoxSpiritOfChristmasClearStampAndDieSet, MemoryBoxRectangleBasics, MemoryBoxFrostedGlitter6x6Pad, MemoryBoxOpenStudioGlitterGlue, PoppystampsGardenLeavesAndBerries, JeanOkimoto, MemoryBoxCo, HolidayDiecuts, PoinsettiaCards, PoinsettiaDiecuts, HolidayDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, StampsAndMemories

The Garland 6x6 prints are uniquely pretty - and perfect with the new Spirit of Christmas Clear Stamps and Dies too.  Add a diecut greeting and frosty white Poppystamps berries too.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a holiday design for you.

Stamp the poinsettia on orangey-pink cardstock with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair, emboss it with detail clear powder.  Stamp and emboss the leaves on matching green cardstock.  Cut both images with the coordinating dies from the Spirit of Christmas Clear Stamps and Die Set.  The stamps are bold and perfect for watercoloring...but I'll leave that for Dave and the coloring experts on our Design Team!

Stamp the greeting - also from the set - on white with Tulip Red VersaFine Clair.  Dry the ink and cut it with the oval die from the set.

Cut two berry sprigs from the Poppystamps Garden Leaves and Berries set from the white sheet in the 6x6 Frosted Glitter Pad.

Cut the corner floral print from the beautiful (and new favorite!) Garland 6x6 set with the 3-¾" x 5" Rectangle Basics die.  Cut white vellum with the 3-¾" x 2-½" die.

Attach the poinsettia, leaves and berries to the vellum with doublestick tape - liquid adhesives may curl some types of vellum.  Adhere doublestick tape behind the vellum where it'll be concealed by the diecuts.  Attach the vellum to the Garland print.  Attach the greeting with foam dots.

MemoryBoxGarland6x6Pack, MemoryBoxSpiritOfChristmasClearStampAndDieSet, MemoryBoxRectangleBasics, MemoryBoxFrostedGlitter6x6Pad, MemoryBoxOpenStudioGlitterGlue, PoppystampsGardenLeavesAndBerries, JeanOkimoto, MemoryBoxCo, HolidayDiecuts, PoinsettiaCards, PoinsettiaDiecuts, HolidayDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, StampsAndMemories

Attach everything to a white A-6 (4-½" x 6-¼") card.  Shake the new Open Studio Sunlight Gold Glitter Glue to blend the contents then squirt some onto scrap paper.  Use a skewer or toothpick to glitter the poinsettia and set it aside to dry.

The Garland 6x6 coordinates beautifully with many of the Memory Box and Poppystamps dies.  Mix and match them and create unique holiday cards for everyone on your list!
