Little Pink Houses

Good Morning,  how is everyone enjoying their summer?  We have had a slow start weather wise but  my kids are determined everyday to wear summer clothes even though it is only 69 degrees outside.   We are still having fun and doing most of our regular summer activities.

Today I have a fun summer card using the Circle Forest Scene 30043 using pink for the little houses.  The sky in the background is just inked with torn paper and ink then the clouds.  To add the greeting I used  some of the Open Studio stamps Smile CL5152 and Hello CL5150.  I love how all of these Open Studio stamp sets work together to build phrases.   Tip:  To get solid ink coverage on your clear mount stamps rub them with a white eraser before using them.  You can see I should have been a bit more patient and rubbed just a little more on the N and the J in enjoy.

Hope your having a great day and getting ready for a Wonderful Safe Holiday weekend!  Thank you so much for stopping by.  Be sure to check out the new  July Memory Box Challenge Here.

Circle Forest Scene BBQ...

You can plan a BBQ even if it's not your birthday though!  Pam here to celebrate birthdays and Summer with a fun scene card!

I cut a white piece of card-stock 4.25 in. x 11 in., scored and folded it for a top fold card base.  Top fold cards are the easiest to photograph and another photo tip, if you're using natural light, be sure to pull up the blinds!  Open blinds let in light but you'll be amazed how much better it is when you pull them all the way up and out of the way! Your camera will thank you! lol

oops!  Got off track there for a minute, back to the card!

I die cut the Circle Forest Scene parts from cold press watercolor paper.  Then I watercolored them, the grass/trees with Peerless and the grill, houses and clouds with Zig Clean Color Brush Pens.

The little curvy fence is from the Wide Open Spaces Open Studio die set. I just trimmed off the bottom...perfect fit!

I wish I'd  used the Celebrate from this set because it's just enough larger. I didn't see it until I'd already stamped this one from poppystamps Into the Words set.  'It's your birthday' is from the same set.

I die cut a circle frame to place over the top from the Shaker Circle Frames die set.

Well, I see I goofed.  The Grill has been discontinued!!!  I wouldn't have thought... so think bicycle or golf cart or even the new tractor die!  Sorry about that!

All that's left to do is layer everything up!  I use ATG, Tombow mono multi glue, thin and regular 3L/Scrapbook Adhesives mounting squares.

Happy Summer day to you!  Thanks for stopping by!

Haunted House - Night Sky Technique

Good Morning!  How is everyone today? Happy Thursday!  Yesterday it was almost 80 and humid here and sometime overnight Fall hit, and we dropped into the 50's maybe even 40's overnight.  So I guess Fall has arrived?  I'm happy about this and sad at the same time.  Is that possible?  So in honor of all the things I love about fall I have created a cute cute Halloween card for today using the Village House -98594 the Ghost Trio - 98376 and the Cloud Cover Stencil - 88558

For this card I created a background on white using Green, Purple and Black Distress Inks.  Then I layed my stencil over the top and spritzed water a couple of times over the stencil.  The water will take color out only where the clouds are.  This is a super fun technique to do with any Stencil and everyone will be asking you how you acheived that cool effect.  Why not try a new technique today?

Did everyone see the AMAZING card Deborah created yesterday?  Be sure to check it out below and check back tomorrow for more amazing ideas.

Have a Most Wonderful Day.

The Great Yosemite Stamp Escape...

Hi everyone!  It was my pleasure to be invited to teach for Memory Box at the Great Yosemite Stamp Escape the first weekend of May.

The weekend began Friday evening at the sponsoring store, The Cat's Meow in Oakhurst, California, with registration, refreshments and ATC trading.  It was great to meet Sharon Fitzgerald, her assistant Melissa Cash, her awesome customers and shop in her wonderful stamp store!

Thank you to Lori Anne and Gary for driving me around! From the store we headed to the Pines Resort.  The late night view in the chalet was so cool, I loved how you could see the pines above the drapes.  Guess I was to tired to take a good photo though, but you get the idea.

Saturday and Sunday it was up early and off to class!  93 Fabulous and talented ladies to create with!

Here's a view of the pines from the resort where the classes were held. It was gorgeous weather all weekend!

There were four instructors and we each taught the same class 4 times.  Here's a photo of the last class. We shared a lot of laughs...a little ornery. lol

I'm the one in the striped blue and peach shirt, 3rd from the left.

Another after everyone was finished. It still makes me smile thinking about the fun times and meeting new stamping friends!

After the last class we all assembled in the main room of the resort for the prize giveaways and more.

Here's a photo of Sharon introducing us...from the left, Linda Bradbury, me, Sharon, Jennifer Dove and Karen Burniston.

Sharon had a store set up for the ladies to shop while they were there... here's some photos of the ladies shopping and enjoying all the wonderful new supplies!  There were demos and make and takes going on Saturday evening too!

Look at all the Memory Box dies and stencils!  Here's Sharon working hard!  She does an amazing job organizing and setting everything up.  This was their 14th Stamp Escape!!!

Before I close this post, I better show you the cards I designed for them to make.  We used Memory Box dies, stencils, paper, stamps and some poppystamps dies too.

Thank you Memory Box for sending me to teach and thank you Sharon for having me!  Thank you all for your support here on Outside the Box.  I'll be back tomorrow with more from the new Summer 2014 release!  See you then!

Grand Holiday Wishes

Hope you're enjoying the long weekend!  Jean Okimoto here, with a simple holiday card for you.

Today's design features the new Grand Happy Holidays Die 98717.  It's great with the large star from the Star of Wonder Set 98167, Resting Birds 98527 and three houses from the Tiny Village Set 98533.

The star is cut from mirror cardstock and the birds from velvet paper. The shiny star and plush texture of the birds add subtle contrast and bright pops of color.

View the entire Memory Box Collection of dies, stamps and papers here.

Thanks for visiting!

Spider Attack!

There's nothing scarier than being in a houseful of ghosts - AND attacked by spiders!  Hi, Jean Okimoto here - with a Memory Box Halloween card for you.

The  Country House Die 98165 is always perfect for cozy, traditional Christmas scenes - but it's also great with spiders and ghosts.  The door and second-story windows can be propped open on the scored lines to add a bit of dimension - and a little ghost.  Although Curly Web F1966 is embossed with detail white powder it looks orange here - but trust me, it's white!  It even has a spider stamp attached to its side.

The background is one of the favorites from last year's collection - Vintage Halloween Words G1802.  The new Ghastly Ghosts 98701 die is quickly becoming one of the 2013 Holiday Collection favorites.

Memory Box Signature Prints  - in Licorice Gingham, Dots, Distressed Dots and Moroccan - are perfect for fall projects.  Country House is diecut from Distressed Dots - but they're all great for Halloween!

Hanging Out with Friends

Hi - hope you're having a great weekend!  Jean Okimoto here, with another Halloween card featuring designs from our 2013 Holiday Collection.

The new items are:

  • Spooky Mansion E1974
  • With My Ghoul Friends B1976  (there's a little pumpkin attached to the side too!)
  • Washi Tape Solid D1942
  • Washi Tape Dots D1978
  • Washi Tape Stripes D1931
  • Ghastly Ghosts Die 98701

It's great how Washi Tape Solid can add another color to any background and highlight a greeting. Follow the 'Read more' link below for details and product lists.

ColorBox Archival Dye Inkpads in Frosted Plum, Khaki Green and Pumpkin Pie are quick-drying and perfect for the layered washi tape-look.  There's a great new tool for stenciling, shading and blending too - it's Clearsnap's ColorBox Color Blender, peeking thru between the inkpads and the Spooky Mansion stamp on the right.   The removable white foam applicators are attached to a black plastic handle - just pull them off and attach a new applicator to switch inks. Quick, easy and economical.
