Nativity Pop Up Slider
by Trina Pham

FEB8162D-A877-4C06-B587-45444CB96E6B

Hello and happy Sunday.  I was playing with more goodies from the current Holiday release to create a fun interactive pop-up slider card.

To allow the nativity scene to fit nicely on the card, I  made my first A6 size (6.25”x4.5”) card.  To begin, two pieces of cardstock, one white and one black, were trimmed to A6 size.  The white is the front and the black is the back, essentially forming a closed pocket card.  On the front piece, Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet, Dusty Concord and Black Soot distress inks (DI) were blended on.  Stars were added with a white gel pen.

Next, used the 2.5”x7.5” Slim Basic Rectangle die and partial die cut the slider channel, leaving the top uncut across.

Score between those two ends.

Took the open cut end next and fold in half up to the score line.  The arrow points to the area in which the pop-up element will adhere to.

Next, traced the slider channel opening onto the back black piece so that the sentiment can be white heat embossed within that area and show when the tab is pulled.

5C2639E9-7764-4399-A447-FC39FA367A13

For the pull tab, a piece of white cardstock was trimmed to 3.5”x6.5” and scored at 0.5” on one end.  Used a pencil to mark 0.5” in from each side, then cut away the two outside squares with scissors.  Could have left it white, but in keeping with the design, ink blended the same colors on it.

All the pieces (except for the star) from The Nativity House Frame were die cut from black cardstock.  The star was die cut from white glitter paper then colored with a Y000 Copic marker.

The House Frame Background piece was die cut from white cardstock, then Squeezed Lemonade and Scattered Straw DI were blended on to give it that glow.  With all pieces ready now, the card was assembled to finish. The star was suspended above the house by a piece of acetate.

Build a Knotted Circle Wreath base for the new Florentina Wreath and add sprigs of holly, pine and glittered berries. Coordinate it and the greeting with a strip of Madras Plaid Coral and Green in matching shades of pink, peach, coral and green.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with another design from our 2021 Holiday Collection.

Cut Holly Bundle twice from the chartreuse 6x6 in Lush Green Collection.  We're using 2 large and 1 medium leaf here - save the extras for another project.

Cut Pine Needle Trio from the chartreuse 6x6 too.  Trim the largest piece - it'll be the bottom sprig on the completed card.

Cut the berries from a peachy pink 6x6 in the Berry Red Collection.  Shake Sunlit Gold Glitter Glue vigorously, then squirt some onto an acrylic stamp block - a solid, washable surface that's always handy for inky or gluey tasks.  Spread the glitter glue onto 3 berries and set them aside to dry.

Prep the Florentina Wreath and the big Knotted Circle by rubbing them briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help release the detailed diecuts.  Cut the wreath and circle with two shades of green from the Lush Green 6x6 Collection.  Attach the circle behind the wreath.

Cut a lighter green 6x6 with the 2-¾" x 4" Wrapped Stitch Rectangle die.  Cut a vertical 2" x 6-⅜" strip of the Madras Plaid Coral and Green sheet - there's a bit of extra paper at the top for that  additional ⅜".

Stamp the greeting from the new Yuletide Moments Clear Stamp Set - with Shady Lane VersaFine Clair - on a coral sheet from the Berry Red Collection.  Heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.

Attach everything to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½") - use foamtape for the greeting.

Designing and color selection is easy with the coordinating options available in the 6x6 solids, prints, plaids, polished foils and glittered cardstock.  Hope you're taking advantage of these great papers as you're designing and creating your holiday cards!

Thanks for visiting - see you next week...

Red and Green Holiday Cheer Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I have another card using the Pine Needle Trio die set with the white and silver embossing powder.  This time I use the pine needle die cuts as the border framing the Joy and Cheer sentiment die cut.

Pine Needles:

Die cut 16 of the 2 smallest Pine Needle Trio dies from the darkest green from the Lush Green paper pad.  Emboss using dries white glue and white and silver mixed embossing power on the ends of the pine needles.

Sentiment:

Die cut the top  Joy and Cheer die from a dark green glitter paper from the Glitzy Flitter pad.

Background:

Ink blend a A2 heavy weight card stock with Distress Oxide Ink. First add Candied Apple all over, then blend around the outside with Festive Berries and then just the outside edge with Aged Mahogany.   Add white splatters with Distress Picket Fence reindeer. Add a few water splatters as well.

Assembly:

Glue the sentiment to the center of the card panel.  Glue the Pine Needles around the outside edge to frame the sentiment.  Trim off the excess.  Adhere the card panel to a heavy weight A2 size card.  Cut a reddish brown from the Earth Neutral pad to A2 size.  Use the 2nd largest die from the Rectangle Basics set to cut a frame.  Adhere the frame to the front of the card.

Thank you and Happy Veterans Day to everyone celebrating today!

The new Gilded Sleigh is now a whitewashed wooden sleigh ready to deliver a DIY Christmas tree.  Felt Resting Birds and Christmas Fairy Jewels add soft texture and sparkle to the Garland 6x6 print.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a holiday mix of classic favorites and designs from our newest release.

Use a large brayer - or an ink pod - to apply a layer of Brilliance Starlite Black ink to White Woodgrain Paper.  Ink pods resemble freeze-dried marshmallows - and skim the surface of textured and/or embossed designs to apply ink to the raised areas.  Dry the ink, then cut the Woodgrain Paper (it's actually cardstock) with the main Gilded Sleigh die.

Sand the silver Polished Foil 6x6 sheet with a medium sanding block or sandpaper to give it a weathered, worn look to match the wooden sleigh.  Cut the runner and top trim from the distressed foil paper.  Assemble the sleigh.

Cut two big branches of the Pine Needle Trio from the green Festive Glitter Pad sheet.  Layer them - slightly offset - and trim the branches to create a Christmas tree.  Tape the tree behind the sleigh.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to red felt and diecut Resting Birds.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from saturating it.

Cut the Garland 6x6 print with the largest Wrapped Stitch Rectangle die.  Attach it to a side-folded red A-2 card.  The bright red card emphasizes the wrapped stitches.  Assemble the card and attach green Christmas Fairy Jewels.

Cut the Joy and Cheer background from a sheet in the Lush Green Collection.  Cut the delicate words from the red Polished Foil Pack sheet.

Add texture to diecuts and give them a bright new look - or as we did here, a weathered, vintage appearance.  Trim pine branches and create a Christmas tree too. It's easy to add special details and a unique look to your Memory Box designs!

Thanks for visiting...see you again this weekend -

Peace Love and Joy
by Trina Pham

B21A2954-72CB-4E34-8B85-2A3296278BEA

Hello everyone.   I’m in full Christmas card making mode and am counting down with the Hallmark channel as they play Christmas movies 24/7 till then! 😆   So I have a mini slimline Christmas card to share today created with many products from the current Holiday collection.

Started by die cutting the Serene Bird from alcohol marker-friendly paper and colored it with Copic markers.   The pine needles were die cut out of green paper from the Lush Green paper pack.   Shading was added to them using a finger brush and Rustic Wilderness distress ink (DI).  The pine cones were die cut out of brown plaid paper from the Woodsy Plaid paper pack.   I thought the bits of gold in it tied in nicely with the sentiment.   White gouache paint was added to the ends of each of their layers with a sponge dauber.

41C61578-BC24-4DF7-940D-23101D351A53

For the background, mixed media paper was trimmed to 3.25”x6.25” and put through my die cutting machine along with the Slim Pinpoint Burst Plate.   Squeezed Lemonade, Tumbled Glass, Mermaid Lagoon and Blueprint Sketch DI’s were then ink blended on with blender brushes.   Arranged and adhered the bird, pine needles and pine cones to the panel next before splattering with white gouache paint for a snowy effect.

F8D17F48-EF01-4DBA-9C3D-C016F4584E0A

The Bennet Alphabet letters were die cut next out of gold glitter paper from the Majestic Hues Glitter Pad and their shadow from scraps of Bristol paper.   Heat embossed ”love and joy” from the Festive Christmas Greetings stamp set with white embossing powder on black cardstock, then assembled the card onto a white 3.25”x6.25” card base to finish.

And this does it for today.   Thank you for joining me.   Have a wonderful day.

Joy and Cheer
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_0220 (1)

Hello everyone!

Today I have a quick and easy card for you!

For the card background, I used red foil paper and embossed it using the Stunning Mandala 3D embossing folder. I glued the background to a white cardstock mat, which was adhered to a black mat.  Next, adhere the background to a white card base.

IMG_0223

I die cut the words "Joy and Cheer" from black cardstock and the shadow from white cardstock.  Glue the words to the shadow die cut and use foam tape to adhere it to the card.

To finish the card, add some Fairy gemstones and that's it!

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day!

Glitter, Glitter and More Glitter by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxContempoHollyAndStencil, MemoryBoxKLayeredPoinsettia, MemoryBoPineNeedleTrio, MemoryBoxVibrantViolet6x6Pack, MemoryBoxSunnyOrange6x6, MemoryBoxFestiveChristmasGreetingsClearStampAndDieSet, MemoryBoxFrostedGlitterPad, MemoryBoxWinterFantasyFairyGemstones, MemoryBoxDewdropGlitterGlue, JeanOkimoto, HandmadeHolidayCards, ChristmasDiecuts, GlitteredDiecuts, PoinsettiaCards, SlimlineCards, DIYCards, WordDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Turn the new Contempo Holly on its side and build an arrangement of glittered diecuts for holiday greetings.   Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a versatile layered slimline design you can make in a wide range of colors - traditional reds & greens, jewel tones, white-on-white or winter pastels.

The Contempo Holly set includes a matching stencil -  save that for another card.  Cut Contempo Holly from white cardstock and trim it to about 1-¾" wide (or high, on this horizontal design). Attach it to a white slimline card (8-½"x 3-⅝").

Cut the leaves from the chartreuse Frosted Glitter Pad sheet.  Cut Pine Needle Trio from the chartreuse sheet too.  Attach them to the card - offset the holly leaves for dimension.

P1009478

Cut Layered Poinsettia from a pink 6x6 in the Vibrant Violet Collection.  Vigorously shake the Dewdrop Glitter Glue and squirt dots of it onto the diecuts.  I already spread the glue on the top center diecut - it adds a glossy, glittery iridescent sparkle.  Spread the glue on the diecuts and gently crease them along the center lines.  Set them aside to dry.

Adding a layer of Open Studio Glitter Glue to detailed diecuts like Layered Poinsettia adds gloss and sparkle - and highlights the details.  They come in 23 beautiful shades and are perfect for holiday designs.

Cut the center section with the three circles twice from a yellow sheet in the Sunny Orange Collection.  Cut a 1-¼" circle of the pink cardstock with a Circle Basics die.  Assemble the poinsettia - use the circle as a base to hold the pieces.  It's a lot easier that way...trust me!  Layer the 2 yellow pieces in the center.

Stamp JOY - from the new Festive Christmas Greetings Clear Stamp and Die Set - on white cardstock with Starlite Black Brilliance.  Dry the ink, then cut the greeting with the matching die.  Cut two pink backgrounds and layer them slightly above and below the stamped greeting for dimension and a bit of color.  Attach the greeting with foamtape.

Add Winter Fantasy Fair Gemstones (I used the color from the center column).  Here's a tip - punch ¼" circles of cardstock in a similar color and use them as 'markers' (no adhesive!) to determine the perfect locations for the gemstones before you adhere the actual gemstones.

Cover the card front with a slimline-sized layer of cardstock to protect it for mailing.

Big thanks to everyone who ordered the BOO! card kits from Impress and Stamps and Memories.  Hope you liked the designs, especially the spooky eyes slimline!

Thanks for visiting - see you again this weekend...

Glad Tidings
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_0121

Hello everyone!  Today's card features a technique that I saw on Gina K Designs, Youtube channel called Carved Wood Technique.

I cut a piece of white cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4". On the 4" side I scored my paper every 1/2".

Next, I took 3 brown ink pads and starting with the lightest, I dragged the inkpad down the front of the paper (my scored lines are recessed).  I repeated this step with all 3 colors. This gives the paper a wood grained look.

IMG_0101

Next, I placed the inked paper into the Stunning Mandala 3D embossing folder.  I made sure to place it in the folder so the embossing would be raised on the inked side of the cardstock.

Once it was embossed, I rubbed a white pigment ink pad over the embossed areas to make them stand out.

IMG_0102

Next, I die cut the sleigh and horse from black cardstock.

The trees where die cut from green cardstock, glued together and a white gel pen was used to add snow to them.

The word Joy was die cut from red foil cardstock and the shadow from vellum.  I glued the foil word on top of the vellum shadow.

I stamped the sentiment on a white strip of cardstock, inked the edges lightly with brown ink and mounted it on a strip of black cardstock.

IMG_0122

I used foam tape to adhere the sentiment strip to the card.  Next, I used foam tape to glue the sleigh and horse on top of the sentiment strip.

The trees were glued in place behind the sleigh, and the word Joy was adhered to the top right corner of the card.

To finish the card I added some fairy crystals and gemstones to the top of the trees.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Nativity Scene Two Ways
by Michelle Bala

26

Hello there! Michelle here, sharing the new Nativity House Frame Die, Bennet Alphabet Die and Slim Pinpoint Burst Plate Die.  Whether you like to color your die cuts or keep them one basic shade, the Nativity House Frame is perfect for either.
26

For both cards I began with the Slim Pinpoint Burst Plate Die. I inked it up with tumbled glass and prize ribbon distress oxide inks. I die cut the Alphabet and colored the base with Copic Markers. I die cut the top layer using a piece of cardstock from the Ocean Blue 6x6 Pack. I die cut the star from the Majestic Hues Glitter Pad. I die cut the Nativity Frame using the Woodgrain Paper Pack in cream and kraft. I used Copic Markers to color the palm trees and Holy Family.

26

I followed the same process for the white card only used a silver glitter sheet to add depth.

Thanks for stopping by for a peek!

Add glitter, dimension and a wide washi tape backdrop to the new Layered Poinsettia on a crisp white slimline card.  Sections of the beautiful Watercolor Forest Greenery 4-½" wide washi tape create a natural setting for a great new holiday item.  Happy weekend, Jean Okimoto here with a simple way to highlight our newest release.

Cut Layered Poinsettia from a bright red 6x6 in the Berry Red Collection.  Vigorously shake the bottle of Ruby Crystal Glitter Glue.  Squirt a blob of glitter glue onto each section and spread the glue with your finger to add a sparkly, glossy layer and highlight the texture.  Set the pieces aside to dry.

Punch or cut a 1" circle of the red cardstock to use as a base.  Crease the petals along the center.  Attach them to the circle base. Cut the center portion from a yellow 6x6 in the Sunny Orange Collection. Attach the tiny yellow center pieces.

Cut the Merry Christmas Posh Script background twice from white cardstock.  Pressure-emboss one white diecut with the delicate Merry Christmas die and the plate(s) and rubber embossing mat required for your machine.  Cut the delicate section from a dark green 6x6 in the Lush Green Collection. Attach the pressure embossed white diecut over the un-embossed diecut.  Attach the green diecut. Pressure embossing the background adds dimension and simplifies attaching the delicate green layer. Attach Watercolor Forest Greenery Wide Washi Tape to white cardstock. Cut it with the medium-sized die from the Stylish Rectangle Trio.  Remove the narrow triangle offcuts - leave everything else in the die.  Attach narrow strips of lined double-stick tape to the diecuts.  Remove the tape liners and press the diecuts firmly onto a white slimline card (8-½" x 3-½").  Use a paper piercing tool to help release it.

Attach the poinsettia and greeting.  Add red Christmas Fairy Crystals.

Cover the card front with a slimline-sized layer of cardstock to protect the card for mailing.

Hope you'll have a chance to create some holiday cards this weekend...see you again tomorrow!  Thanks for visiting...
