Two Cards With Alcohol Inks and New Dies
by Angie Cimbalo

1

Hello and welcome!  It's Angie here today with 2 cards featuring new dies from the last release plus some alcohol inks!

I love working with alcohol inks and then die cutting from the resulting panels.  You never know how they will turn out and so it's truly an experiment in color every time!  For my first card I use the Curved Cap Pinpoint Layers die set, all of them to create a shaped card.

First I cut all of the layers at once from white and then next I took the largest die and cut it from a folded card base, but left the top edge of the die hanging over the top so it wouldn't cut through.  That created the shape card base and all I had to do was add the set of dies I first cut right on top of the card base.  Next, I cut the smaller die in the center from alcohol ink panel (that was splattered with white paint) and heat embossed the sentiment from the Joyful Moments stamp set right in the center with white embossing powder.  I also cut the Scribble Daisy from the same panel and left it all in one piece to add to my card.  Lastly I added gold jewels from the Christmas Fairy Jewels package.  Here's a closer look:

Here's a look at card #2:

To create my 2nd card I did the same things except I cut the set of Curved dies from black and white and pieced them together, same look, 2 colors.  And instead of using the flower I used the Plumed Gypsy Butterfly die.  This time I used the sentiment new die called "Hello Rush Script" and I added the same gold jewels.

I hope you like my cards for today!  I enjoyed creating them and I hope I inspired you to pull out your alcohol inks and dies and make some pretty cards!!!

Backyard Floral Stems & Fence Picket Dies + Video
by Angie Cimbalo

Card 1

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with a mini slimline "Hello" card featuring the new Backyard Floral Stems and the Woodgrain Fence Pickets dies.  Here's a look at those dies below along with a short video showing how I made my card:

Dies I used

In the video you will see how I color the die-cuts with markers and colored pencils to get a fun realistic rustic look on them.  I also used some Distress Inks with pencil type blending brushes.  Putting the card together was so much fun!  I made the fence by using the pickets vertically and horizontally by cutting off the tops.  Here's a couple more pictures of my card:

I also share a tip for getting really clean white embossing on black card stock.  I prefer to use black alcohol ink card stock because it's such a dark solid black.  It's a little more expensive than just regular black card stock but it really holds up to the heat and the reaction the white embossing powder has on the paper, is always clean and bright white.

Here's a closer look:

I had so much fun making this card and video for you today.

Plumed Gypsy Butterfly
by Trina Pham

D72078EC-F19C-4672-AA57-2E769A341AAB

Hello everyone.  With spring a couple days away in the northern hemisphere, I have a spring card to share using products from the 2023 February collection.

Took the Rectangle Double Border hot foil plate and hot foiled a piece of Bristol paper with Silver Holographic Speckle hot foil using the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System.  Trimmed the piece to 4”x5.25”, then die cut the center out with a rectangle die from Rectangle Basics.  The new A2 Rectangle Frames set co-ordinates with this hot foil plate set and makes a nice tight cut to the foiled border lines, but I wanted more space from the foiled lines.  Next, the Plumed Gypsy Butterfly was die cut from Bristol paper and the back pieces were inked with Shaded Lilac distress ink (DI).  The top detailed layer was die cut twice to stack for dimension.

The Floral Bud and Stems were die cut from alcohol marker friendly cardstock and coloured with Copic Sketch markers.  The background piece showing through the frame is also Bristol paper ink blended with Salvaged Patina DI. The Hello Rush Script sentiment was die cut twice from thick white paper and once from silver foil paper and stacked.

Assembled the card onto a white card base, popping the frame up with foam adhesive, to finish.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Hello with Scribble Daisy
by Angie Cimbalo

Hello and welcome!  It's Angie here today with a pretty spring hello card featuring new dies from the February release.

I used both the Hello Rush Script die 94468, the Scribble Daisy die 94617, along with the new A2 Rectangle Frames dies 94672.  The background was made with the Geometric Crystals 3D Embossing Folder EF 1016.

I embossed some cream colored thick watercolor paper with the folder and then inked the edges with light pink.  I also used that same watercolor paper smooshed with green and pink inks, and both white and black card stock to cut the sentiment and the daisy from.  Next I stacked them offset from each other for dimension.  I matted the embossed panel on a slightly larger black panel then added it all to the card base.  I finished my card with some Memory Box Pastel Jewels and Wink of Stella on the flower petals and the hello die.

The inks I used to smoosh with were Distress Inks in Saltwater Taffy, Twisted Citron.  I added a little  Walnut Stain to the bottom of the hello smooshed die with a domed ink blender.

Here's a closer look:

I hope you like my card for today.  I really love the soft colors and the puffy dimension look from the 3D embossing folder.  Please come back every day to see more inspiration from the design team.

Thanks for stopping by!

Floral Bouquet
by Trina Pham

Hello everyone.  I have a floral bouquet mini slimline card to share today featuring new products from the current 2023 February release.

I saw on Instagram a flower bouquet wrap created by folding in the sides of a die cut heart and since I had a leftover die cut heart in my stash, I put it to good use.  The heart had been die cut with the largest die from either the Double Stitched or Scallop Pinpoint Loving Heart die set.

7AFFD82D-880D-458E-9D51-CE7C03114D37

The flowers and foliage from new Floral Bud and Stems and Backyard Floral Stems die sets were die cut from white cardstock.  Colored the foliage with YG61, YG63 and G99 Copic Sketch markers, while the flowers were colored with Wilted Violet distress ink using a finger blending brush.

97895EB9-2056-4ACF-AE54-52483C4E647D

The background panel is Bristol paper trimmed to 3”x6”.  Ink blended Wilted Violet distress ink from the bottom left corner fading out to the opposite corner.  Flicked on some water and splattered with diluted white gouache paint for some interest.   Die cut new Hello Rush Script  sentiment from gold glitter paper and black cardstock to offset for a drop shadow.  Assembled the card onto a white mini slimline card base and added some highlights with a white gel pen to finish.

That’s it for today.  Thank you for joining me.  Have a wonderful day.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone celebrating today!

Brighten this winter day with the fresh new designs from Memory Box!  You'll love our latest collection - including florals, foliage, feathers, greetings, layering collages, seashells, shop tools and fishes -  and a beautiful Curlicue Plate.  There are so many great designs - we can't wait to share our ideas with you!

Hi, Jean here with one of my new favorites - Backyard Floral Stems.  It can be a leafy background just in shades of green - or add bright pops of color for little blossoms and buds.  Snip and arrange some stems as fillers for bouquets or vases.  Add a bunny and pastel eggs for Easter.  Diecut black cardstock for a spooky Halloween scene.

To create a subtle white-on-white background - tape two pieces of white cardstock together, then cut the doubled layers with the 2-¾" wide Curved Cap Pinpoint Layers die.  Run it through the machine twice to highlight the pinpoint pattern.

Paint the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper with diluted layers of abandoned coral, dried marigold and wild honey Distress Oxides.  Dry the inks, then spritz it with Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz and heat-set it.  Cut it with the Plumed Gypsy Butterfly background.  Cut the detailed butterfly layer from heavy white cardstock.

Prep Background Floral Stems by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help release the delicate pieces.  Cut it from the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Leave the delicate diecut in the offcut and paint it with mowed lawn and abandoned coral Distress Oxides.  It's easier to paint it that way - especially the stems.  Gently heat-set the inks, then remove it from the offcut.

Cut Hello Rush Script from a green glittered 6x6 in the Graceful Garden Glitter Pad.

Attach the diecuts to a white A6 card (4-½" x 6-¼") - use foam tape for "h" in "hello" and the left edge of the butterfly.  Add pale gold Pastel Fairy Jewels.

Hope your favorite Retailer has ordered our latest release - you'll love the designs!  View the catalog of the newest Memory Box, Poppystamps and Birch Press Designs products.

Luxe Peony Heart
by Trina Pham

A7A1691E-AC00-459D-BE14-987AD45E9E86

Hello everyone.  Taking a break from pinks / purples / Valentine to create a simple hello card featuring the beautiful Luxe Peony die from the current 2023 Valentine’s collection.  The color may or may not have been influenced by blue Monday two days ago. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

The peony layers and leaves were die cut from white cardstock.  The petal layers were ink blended with light blue dye ink using a finger blending brush, while the leaves were colored with FB2 Copic Sketch marker.  The ink blending ended up being too faint, so used light blue Copic Sketch markers to give it more contrast.  Glued the peony layers together, then spritz with a shimmer spray for some sparkle (couldn’t capture it in the photos).

3975CF78-DA0A-4009-AD97-0B275046F1E7

A heart aperture was then die cut from white woodgrain paper with the Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out die.  Die cut the sentiment from black and white cardstock, then assembled the card onto a white card base to finish.

And that’s it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Two Cards with Starry Collage & Wild Spiral
by Angie Cimbalo

Main BF

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with two fun cards using goodies from the fall release. Here are the new dies I used for today's card:

Starry Collage 94631
Wild Spiral 94629

I also used the previously released Geometric Crystals embossing folder 1016EF and the Sylvan Butterfly 94577.

Here's another look at my card:

BF close

I used watercolor card stock and smooshed lots of Distress oxide inks and after it dried I used it to die cut the stars, butterfly background and I also cut 2 spirals out of it.

I used the 2 swirls that I cut from the watercolor smooshed cards and backed them in white card that had been embossed with embossing folder. The sentiment is from the Big & Little Words stamp set, stamped in black in on white card. Here's another look:

The butterfly background was cut from the same watercolor card and the top of the butterfly was cut with black card. I added blue tiny gems from the Christmas Jewels set. The card base was made by taking a mini slimline card and cutting it to 3" by 5.5" and I added a diagonal black card piece to give it more interest. Here's one more look:

Here's one last look at card #1:

Now on to card #2:

Main star

I save one panel of watercolor smooshed card that I cut the swirl out of to be my card's background. I backed the opening of the swirl with black card and then added the whole panel to an A2 card base. Next I added layers stars, black and watercolor, randomly around the card. The sentiment is from Big and Little Words stamp set heat embossed in white on black card. I really like the way this turned out, it almost looks like a cartoon drawing!

I hope you like my card for today! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Side Stella Butterfly
by Trina Pham

E3D6C2CF-AD79-477E-A2BA-62F78C8DFCF5

Hello everyone.  Today I’m stretching the Stella Butterfly from the 2022 May release to create a simple off-the-edge standard A2 size shaped card.

Took a Bristol scrap piece measuring approximately 4.25”x5.75” from my stash and drew a line across approximately 5.5” high.  Placed the Stella Butterfly background die at an angle straddling the line so only the left wing extends beyond the line.  Partial die cut above the line like this.

774955F6-17AB-498D-8A98-FBA17E0F545F

Trimmed along the drawn line up to the die cut part of butterfly to get this.

929A53C8-FA3F-4B74-99D7-DE2E8E7AD909

Embossed the bottom portion with the Gracious Leaves 3D embossing folder (EF) to give it some dimension

65E4F5E4-DE86-48D5-9CB1-8773C50C5552

The butterfly and sentiment were die cut from alcohol marker friendly cardstock and black glossy paper.  To turn the full butterfly into a side flying one, it was cut in half and one of the antennas was cut off.  Colored them with Copic Sketch markers RV02, RV04 and RV09.  For a bit of texture, splattered the butterfly background piece with diluted white gouache paint.  To mount to the card base, the flat edge of the partial die cut butterfly was aligned with the folded end of a white top folding A2 size card base.  Measure 5.5” from the end of the butterfly wing and trimmed using a paper trimmer.  Added some clear Fairy Drops to finish.

FC778996-FB25-4A6B-86FE-F1E55801135F
For some reason it looks shorter than 5,5” in length in the photo, but trust me it’s not. 😂  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful week.
