Add dimension to the background of the Scribble Rose Trio by pressure-embossing and heat-embossing it to a glossy finish.  Add a Verdant Leaf for contrast, a Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Out layer and a quick greeting from the Big and Little Valentines set.

Hello, Jean Okimoto here with two techniques to extend the use of a favorite die from our 2020 Valentine's Collection.  I've used the Scribble Rose Trio for several cards here on the blog - and for classes at Impress.  Here's another technique to take advantage of this popular die set.

Cut the solid Scribble Rose Trio background from Petunia cardstock.  Pressure-emboss it with the detailed die.  Use a soft rubber brayer to ink the raised areas of the embossed pattern with VersaMark.  Heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.

Cut Verdant Leaf from Flintstone cardstock.

Cut the largest Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Out from Romance cardstock.    Pressure-emboss it with the set's second-largest die.

Attach the diecuts to a side-folded white A-2 card.  Trim it with a corner rounding punch.

Stamp the greeting - from the Big and Little Valentines Clear Stamps Set - on a strip of Romance cardstock with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair.  Attach the greeting with foam tape.  Add silver gem stickers.

Hugs
by Michelle Bala

Michelle here,  sharing a simple card for Valentine's Day.

10

I used Hugs Loving Heart craft die and Drifting Hearts Stencil.  I inked up the background with tattered rose and aged mahogany distress oxide inks.  I also splattered some white and gold paint.

10

After I die cut the heart, I used an embossing ink pad and just turned it upside down and directly inked the die cut with the sponge pad.  I sprinkled the top half with mayan glintz and the bottom half with metallic copper Wow embossing powders.  I die cut the heart 3 more times to stack them up. Adhere together and than to the card base.  Scatter some sequins!

Hope you link up to the newest Memory Box Challenge...hearts!!!!

"hugs and kisses"
by Anne Thompson

This month it's all about hearts on our blog challenge and on our greeting cards.  I made a card for today that uses the DRIFTING HEARTS STENCIL 88614 to create a soft background.

IMG_2238

materials used

I began by taping the stencil to a piece of white cardstock with washi tape.  I applied the ink with a brush, varying the amount of ink applied and not covering all of the hearts in the stencil.

IMG_2221

IMG_2221

Once I trimmed the paper down I brushed more ink on the edges before mounting it to a scrap of raspberry notecard and then onto a white notecard.  I added raspberry ribbon tied in a bow next to the fold.

I die cut the Big Huge Premiere die twice from more of the scrap raspberry notecard, layered it with a glue pen, and adhered it to the front panel.

IMG_2225

I wanted to add a large heart to the panel so I chose the center one from the Gilded Heart Circle.

IMG_2226

I put foam dots on the back to pop it up off the panel a bit.

I took the phrase "hugs and kisses" from the Big and Little Valentines stamp set, cut off the word "hugs", inked it with the Raspberry Jam ink, and stamped it just below the panel.

IMG_2232

And because I can hardly ever make just one, I made two more even simpler cards.  This time I made larger heart stenciled panels which I adhered directly to colored notecards.  Just a simple rinse of the stencil under warm water and I was ready to change colors.

For this one I used Memento Rose Bud ink with a raspberry notecard and ribbon.  This time I applied the ink directly to the paper through the stencil using the raindrop-shaped ink pad.

IMG_2240

And this for this one I used Memento Lady Bug ink (applied with a round foam ink dauber), a Holly red notecard, and a satin red white-dotted ribbon.

IMG_2233

I love this stencil and know I will use it a lot to make more valentines before the 14th.  I have many more red and pink inks to try!!!

Happy Crafting!

Memory Box Heart Bouquet 3D Embossing Folder
by Vicki Finger

Hi everyone!  I have a quick post for you today that features the Heart Bouquet 3D Embossing Folder.  I love, love, love this folder and I wanted to be able to show you a different way to use it.  I apologize in advance for the quality of the images.  The weather has not been cooperating at all for photographs.

This project uses Card Stock, Nuvo Dream Drops, and the gorgeous Heart Bouquet 3D Embossing Folder, the Love Airy Script, and one of the dies from the Champagne Heart Dies.  It is simply stunning by itself, but I wanted to create a jazzed-up version for you doing a technique that I developed not too long ago where I "paint" with Nuvo Drops onto the embossed parts of the card stock.

For whatever reason, I have found the consistency of the Nuvo Dream Drops to work the best for this technique.  The Regular drops seem a bit thicker and they don't level out as much as the Dream Drops which are all iridescent in color. I was hoping they would add some new colors to this year's offering, but so far that hasn't happened.  The six colors remain Cloud 9, Fairy Wings, Gold Luxe, Love Potion, Indigo Eclipse, and Dragon Scales.

This technique is very easy, but it does take some time and I would recommend practicing before you do a full-on project.  I love this folder, so I really wanted to use this technique.  Start by misting your cardstock with water only on the front and back to keep your paper from cracking and help get a very crisp design.  This folder works better with a heavier weight card stock.  I used 110# Cougar Super Smooth Digital White cardstock.

Once the cardstock is completely dry, I use a blending brush to go over it in a color from the same family.  This creates the darker shadows.   Once that is done and dry, I start painting with the very tip of the Dream Drops Bottle.  Since the drops are self-leveling, they kind of spread out a bit and show some of the leafy details as well as some of the flowers better, making it easier to paint.  The wreath is so pretty by itself, but this is a great way to focus on just it, and if you want more, you can add a die-cut or two, to the card as well.

Here are some more examples for you of the card done in aqua.

And also a few views of the pink one where I am not putting a sentiment on it as of yet.  I'm not sure who I'll send this to, so I want to hold off on that until I decide.

This card has quite a bit more details that have been painted, so I will want to keep the sentiment simple.  This is a quick post, but as I said, I hope you try out the technique.  I have some other ones I want to try as well, but it will be several weeks before I have time.  I apologize again that I just haven't had a very good light to work with for my photos.

I'll be gone until the end of the February,  but I'll be back at the end of the month with new projects for you.  See you then!

Splash brightly stenciled Drifting Hearts across a pink background and top them with the Hugs Loving Heart. It's a very basic design - just updated in glitter-embossed shades of pink, coral and orange.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a colorful card to warm a winter day.

MemoryBox HeartBouquet3DEmbossingFolder, MemoryBoxHugsLovingHeart, MemoryBoxDoubleStitchLovingHeartCutOut, HeartStencils, HandmadeValentines, HeartDiecuts, WordDiecuts, JeanOkimoto, ImagineCrafts, MementoLuxe, RadiantNeons, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, MBoss, MemoryBoxRectangleBasics

Brush a 6" x 4-½" rectangle of watercolor paper with a loose, watery layer of Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide.  Diecut the two largest hearts from the Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out set from watercolor paper.  Paint them with varying amounts of diluted Picked Raspberry too.  Dry the painted papers.

Stencil the Drifting Hearts with overlapping, random inks  - Rose Bud Memento Luxe and Radiant Neons in Electric Pink, Electric Orange and Electric Coral.  Work quickly so the inks don't dry - then emboss it with Iridescent Mboss from Imagine Crafts.  Trim the rectangle with the 5" x 3-¾" Rectangle Basics die and round the corners.

Cut Hugs Loving Heart from white and dark pink cardstock. Layer the diecuts - slightly offset - for dimension. Attach them to the two watercolored hearts.

Attach the diecuts to a white A-6 card.  Add dark coral gem stickers.

For a different look...use mixed shades of red cardstock instead of pink watercolored paper.  Stencil the Drifting Hearts with VersaMark and emboss it with detail clear powder.  Attach everything to a Kraft card and add silver gemstickers.

Thanks for visiting...see you next week!

Banded Heart Locket and Love Airy Script by Jean Okimoto

Attach a pair of the new Banded Heart Lockets to the Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Outs on a Valentine for your special guy.  Cool, masculine grays and bright reds create a crisp contrast on today's card.

Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a simple design to start the workweek.  Change the colors and make it a shower, wedding or anniversary card too!

MemoryBoxLoveAiryScript, MemoryBoxDoubleStitchLovingHeartCutOut, MemoryBoxBandedHeartLocket, MemoryBoxBigAndLittleValentinesClearStamps, MemoryBoxDashingHoliday6x6Set, MemoryBoxDashingStripsAndDots6x6Set, JeanOkimoto, VersaFineClair, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, ValentineDiecuts, WordDiecuts, WideWashiTape, HeartDiecuts

Cut Banded Heart Locket from gray and white cardstock.  Cut two hearts with the Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out dies - 2.2" wide from red glittered cardstock and 3.1" wide from the Poppystamps Snowspeckle Wide Washi Tape attached to gray cardstock.  It's the perfect washi tape for snow,  confetti or white splattered dots - whatever you need!

Punch a ⅛" hole near the top of the large heart.  Attach the glittered heart to the large heart with doublestick tape.  Attach the white and gray Banded Heart Lockets with gold cord.  Curl the cord.

Pressure-emboss a folded white A-6 card (4-½" x 6-¼") with the 3.1" Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out.  It creates an outline on the front of the card - and frames the greeting on the inside.  Stamp "xoxo" - from the Big and Little Valentines Clear Stamps - with Tulip Red VersaFine Clair in the embossed heart inside the card.

Cut accent strips - ¾" x 3-½" of the gray plaid from the Dashing Holiday 6x6 set, ¾" x 4" of gray cardstock and ¾" x 3-¼" of the dark gray stripes from the Dashing Stripes and Dots 6x6 set.  Attach the hearts and strips to a white A-6 (4-½" x6-¼") card.

Here's an easy way to prep a self-adhesive greeting.  Diecut Love Airy Script from red cardstock - don't remove the diecut or the offcut.  Place three strips of ⅛" ScorTape or Couture Creations tape horizontally across the back of the diecut.   Run it through the machine again to cut the tape - leave it in the die again.  Flip it over onto the card and use a pokey tool to push the self-adhesive greeting onto the card.  The double cutting process makes it easier to cut completely thru the tape and its liner.  Pressing the delicate greeting directly onto the card keeps it intact, without any distortion or wonkiness.

Memory Box Valentine's Day Card with Selective Coloring
by Vicki Finger

Hello everyone!  Vicki here with you today sharing a Valentine's Day card that uses typical supplies in a less than typical way.

By now, I am sure you all know of my love for gold foiled cardstock and papers.  I wanted to create a card that shows you one of the reasons that I love white and gold foiled papers in particular.

Last week I was in the city for an appointment and I had time to run into Joann's as I was looking for Sateen Supima Cotton in a certain color and the particular store I was in has a much larger fabric selection than the one near my home.  I didn't find the fabric I was looking for, but I almost always do a quick walkthrough of the Scrapbooking section on my way out.  I was pretty excited when I saw this 6 x 6 Mat Stack from Die Cuts With a View that contained all white and gold foiled cardstock.  It doesn't have a GSM or weight on the paper but it's comparable to Text Weight Papers if you want a comparison.  Anyhow, there were two of these at 60% off and I grabbed them both.  My total came to $4.00 and some change.

While I do love the gold, I also love the things you can create using White & Gold papers like these.  You can do ink blending on them to get the exact background color you want, or you can use any one of several coloring media to make it your own, which is what I did today.

I grabbed my drawer containing all of my Red and Red Violet Copic Markers and sat down to start coloring the sheet seen above.  I have a stacking four drawer unit that has all of my markers in them and those two color groups are in the same drawer.

I knew I wanted to use a favorite Memory Box Die to create this card but I wanted something other than a solid color behind it so I started coloring in the flowers.  I could also have colored in the leaves, but I didn't want that look, so I only colored the flowers.  Let me just say, I am not a person who has "Mad Coloring Skills" as they like to say in this industry.  But I was really only looking to enhance the white paper by adding bits of color.  My approach would have been different if I wanted to use it for the whole background, but for what I wanted, this was great.

The single 6 by 6 sheet yielded two hearts for behind the La Rue Heart.  In order to get the correct sized heart to go behind, I used the negative piece from the Die Cut Gold La Rue Heart as my template.

If I would have used the die for my template to trace around, it would have been too large, so I traced the negative opening and then fussy cut them.  Yes, I did actually fussy cut the two hearts!  Most of my followers know that I detest fussy cutting, but sometimes you just have to do it.  I slipped the extra heart into the stamp pocket that has the La Rue Heart in it for future use.

After I did that, I also had this long diagonal piece left to use.  I used it to put a band across the bottom of the card for my die cut Love Airy Script Die.  I die cut a background panel from red cardstock for the base using the largest Basic Rectangle Dies.  I cut the second largest rectangle from some scrapbooking paper in a similar color to the flowers that I colored with Copics.  It's not quite red, but not quite coral either.  And with the gold foil accents, it was perfect!

I love how this card turned out and there won't be another like it anywhere.  That is one of the many advantages of using White and Gold Coiled cardstock and making it your own.

This made such a striking card!  I love that I could add a single little gem to the center of the La Rue Heart for that additional touch of bling.

In case you'd like to try this technique for yourself, I did a few other examples of adding color to White and Gold Foiled Papers for you here. The sky is the limit.  I also love that many times the patterns for this are geometric because most guys like geometric patterns.  You can make make stripes in straight or diagonal, quilt patterns or any kind of random coloring you want.  Use Ink Blending Brushes, Mini Round Ink Blending Tools, Markers, or even paint if you have the time and desire to do that.  The amount of time you spend is up to you.  I hope you enjoyed this post and if you try this out, be sure to tag us on social media!

Don't forget this month's challenge is a friendship card and this would be a fun way to make something special.
