Images from the new That's Acute Triangle Clear Stamps create a splashy background for a glittery black Crouching Cat.  Add the look of washi tape with a stamp from the Bold Christmas Greetings Clear Stamps,  and some glossy Honeycomb Square hexagons.   Hi everyone, Jean Okimoto here with more designs from the 2018 Holiday Happenings release.

It's a collection of traditional and contemporary, bold handwritten greetings and proper typewriter text.  There's something for everyone in this great release!

It's easy to see why we're excited about the very cool triangle clear stamps and coordinating dies.  There are so many ways to use them to add a fresh, contemporary look to holiday cards.

Cut white cardstock using the 3-¼" Studio Hexagon Layers die.  It's also a template for stamping the tall diamond and the smallest solid triangle.  Use the corners of the hexagon to align the diamonds stamped with Sunshine VersaFine Clair.  Heat-set the ink.

Use the midpoint of the sides to align the small triangle stamped with Verdant VersaFine Clair.

Cut a 3-¾" hexagon of green cardstock.

MemoryBoxCrouchingCat-MemoryBoxClutchOfEggs-MemoryBoxStudioHexagonLayers-MemoryBoxBoldChristmasGreetings-VersaFineClair-JeanOkimoto

Cut Crouching Cat from black glittered craft foam.  Leave the little paws in the die until you're ready to attach it.  Cut the big egg from the Clutch of Eggs set from bright orange cardstock.  Attach it behind the cat to create beady orange eyes - it's a perfect fit!

Attach orange duct tape to a scrap of lightweight cardstock and cut Honeycomb Square to create shiny-bright hexagon accents.

Stamp the diagonal lines - from the Bold Christmas Greetings set - on orange and black cardstock with Nocturne VersaFine Clair.  Trim them and tear the ends to create 3-½" and 5" accent strips.

Attach the diecuts to a 4-½" x 6-¼" A-6 card of black cardstock.

How would you use these triangle stamps?  A forest of sleek Christmas trees, pennants or flags are just a few ideas.

Thanks for visiting...be crafty and enjoy your weekend!

Cool Cat, Friendly Ghosts and Cheers to the 2018 Holiday Happenings Release by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxCoolCat-MemoryBoxFriendlyGhosts-MemoryBoxCheersJottedScript-MemoryBoxLookingForMrRightTriangleClearStamps-JeanOkimoto-VersaFineClair-ImagineCrafts-MemoryBoxCoDiecuts-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Meet the new 2018 Holiday Happenings release - Friendly Ghosts, Cool Cat and Looking for Mr. Right Triangles are here today!  Hi everyone, Jean Okimoto here with the first of many triangle designs from the latest release.

They're my favorite shape - and perfect for backgrounds, pennants, landscapes and contemporary design elements.  We have three new triangle clear stamps and coordinating die sets and can't wait to share our ideas with you.

MemoryBoxCoolCat-MemoryBoxFriendlyGhosts-MemoryBoxCocktailHour-MemoryBoxLookingForMrRightTriangleClearStamps-VersaFineClair-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBox2018HolidayHappenings

Although the stamps are great basic backgrounds they're also designed for layering.  Both the solid and detailed stamps work perfectly with the VersaFine Clair inkpads.  Stamp bright orange Summertime and green Verdant backgrounds.  Add the striped overlay details with Nocturne.  Everything goes directly onto a side-folded Kraft A-2 card.

Cut the sophisticated Cool Cat from black cardstock.  Cut two of the Friendly Ghosts from watercolor paper. Use the pokey tool to make the small ghost's eyes just a teeny bit wider.

Wondering why the Clutch of Eggs die is shown above?  It's the perfect size and shape for cutting black cardstock to layer behind the ghosts for eyes - and orange cardstock for Cool Cat's eyes.

Cut the detailed and background Cheers from orange and black cardstock.

Cut the little Cocktail Hour glasses from orange and black cardstock.  Layer the diecuts so they (sort of) match the layering of the Cheers Jotted Script set.

Graphic Cat Design
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_1248

Greetings friends.  In case you didn't realize it, Memory Box has released some new dies and stamps.  You can view the whole collection here.

For my card today, I built my own background using stamps from the Equal Triangle clear set and a Kaleidacolor rainbow pad called Creole Spice and then layered the new Cool Cat on top.  I haven't added a sentiment yet because I haven't decided if I am going to make a Halloween card or save it to make a Fall birthday card.  I like to have options in my card stash.

To make the card, I cut out my Scallop Stitch Fancy Frame and Cool Cat out of black cardstock.  I saved the rectangle piece that was left when I cut the frame to use as a guide for masking.

IMG_1245

Here you can see that I put the black rectangle (ignore the cat) onto my white cardstock as a guide of where to place my low-tac masking tape.  I decided to use a mask because my frame is so narrow and I didn't want my triangles/diamonds to stamp further out than the frame.

IMG_1244

Next, I pulled out a ton of diamonds and triangles from my stamp set and placed them on my stamp positioner to stamp onto my my card using Fall colored rainbow ink.  You can use the shapes to make a decorative border or design, but I thought it would be fun to put them all together to create a graphic background.  When I removed the mask, this is what was left:

IMG_1246

To finish my card, I glued down the frame around the triangles and popped up my cat with some foam tape:

Hope you love the new kitty die as much as I do.  I know I will be using him a lot!

Delicate Pine Frame and Holiday Twigs – from Christmas to Halloween by Jean Okimoto

P1070143

Transform traditional holiday diecuts into a spooky Halloween scene with the Delicate Pine Frame and Holiday Twigs.  A quick color switch is all it takes!  Happy weekend, Jean Okimoto here with a fall design for you today.

P1070157

Cut Happy Halloween Channel from a 6-¼" x ¾" strip of black cardstock.  Cut the pumpkin from white cardstock and add eyes and a mouth with a screwpunch.

Score, cut and fold a 4-½" x 5-¾" card of dark orange Candy Corn cardstock.

P1070115

Tabs at the short ends of the diecut will fit over the top and bottom of the card - adding ¼" to each edge, creating an A-6 card.  Attach the diecut to the card with dots of adhesive between the tabs and the card,  and under the pumpkin.

Cut the bigger Holiday Twig from black cardstock.  Cut a circle of white cardstock with the 1" Circle Basics die.  Cut the birds (from the Delicate Pine Frame set) from black glittered foam.

Cut the larger Delicate Pine Frame and inner rectangle from orange metallic cardstock.

Attach the diecuts to the card.  Add copper-colored gem stickers.

P1070160 2

A color change quickly adds a whole new look to holiday diecuts.  Turn a delicate twig into a spooky tree and sweet little birds into shadowy night creatures.  It just takes a little imagination and a big stash of paper!

If you're in the Seattle area, join us for the PAPERSTYLE 2019 CALENDAR or NOTECARDS class at Impress this Sunday.  Create 12 designs with holiday and seasonal icons, great dies and stamps and beautiful artpapers.

Thanks for visiting - have a great weekend!

Halloween Greetings
by Donna Sledzik

Hello everyone!

Today I took a break from Christmas cards to bring you a Halloween project!  I did use one of the new holiday dies, Pine Wreath, for a Halloween wreath. It's fun to look for versatility in your stamps and dies.

IMG_4576

I also used washi tape to create my background in keeping with our September's Tape Challenge.

I die cut the Circle Web Frame in the center of a piece of watercolor paper, and masked off the web and added washi tape across my card to create stripes.

IMG_4571

I used a flat watercolor brush and paint to fill in the stripes.  Once the paint was dry I slowly peeled off the washi tape.  If your tape seems to be hard to lift off, use your heat gun to warm the adhesive on the tape and peel off.

I sponged white cardstock with Twisted Citron Distress ink to create the background behind the web.  I glued that behind the web and adhered this to a black cardstock background piece, which I glued to a white card base.

I die cut the pine wreath several times from black cardstock and glued them around my circle web.

IMG_4576 (1)

To finish the card I die cut the word greetings from black cardstock and glued that to the card front.  Then I added a spider and orange bling to further embellish the card.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Hutton Wreath and Whimsy Cat on a Speckled Background by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxHuttonWreath-MemoryBoxWhimsyCat-MemoryBoxSquareBasics-MemoryBoxPlayfulBoo-MemoryBoxSpeckledBackground-JeanOkimoto-ImagineCrafts-Kaleidacolor-ImpressCardsAndCrafts-WatercoloredHalloweenCards-HalloweenDiecuts

The Hutton Wreath can be elegant and pretty...or dark and spooky, like when it frames the popular Whimsy Cat.  Add a Speckled Background of black dots and Playful Boo for a fun Halloween design of classic favorites.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here after some crazy - and senior moment - hours!

MemoryBoxHuttonWreath-MemoryBoxWhimsyCat-MemoryBoxPlayfulBoo-MemoryBoxSquareBasics-MemoryBoxSpeckledBackground-JeanOkimoto-Kaleidacolor-ImagineCrafts-HalloweenDiecuts-WatercoloredHalloweenCards

Press a Kaleidacolor Desert Heat multicolored inkpad onto a large acrylic block to create a palette of bright yellow, oranges and red.  Paint watercolor paper with random splotchy layers of ink and heat-set it.

Cut it with Speckled Background.  Rotate the die 180 degrees and cut it again to create a second, different pattern of dots.  Speckled Background is great for adding the look of random paint or ink specks without the stress and uncertainty of wondering where they'll land!

Cut the paper with the 3-¼" Square Basics die.

Cut Hutton Wreath and Playful Boo from black cardstock.

Cut Whimsy Cat from black velvet paper and white cardstock.  Layer the diecuts, slightly offset.

Place Whimsy (that's what we call him at Impress) over the background and mark the spots for his eyes.  Punch the eyes out (sorry, Whimsy)  with a screwpunch.

Cut black cardstock with the 3-½" Square Basics die.

Attach the diecuts to a vibrant Persimmon Notecard.  Add silver gemstickers.

MemoryBoxWhimsyCat-MemoryBoxHuttonWreath-MemoryBoxPlayfulBoo-MemoryBoxSpeckledBackground-MemoryBoxHalloweenDies-WatercoloredHalloweenCards-HalloweenDiecuts-JeanOkimoto-Kaleidacolor

I love Persimmon Notecards - they're perfect for transforming dark, spooky Halloween designs into something bright and fun.

Special thanks to everyone who took the first COLORS OF CHRISTMAS class at Impress!  Hope you liked the cards - and the versatility of the Memory Box, Poppystamps and Birch Press Design products we mixed and matched on our greetings.  Thanks too - Ann and LaVonne - for helping everyone fill their shopping baskets!

Thanks for visiting...have a great evening!

Spooky Fun!
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Saturday Friends! Today I have a fun and a little bit spooky Halloween card to share using one of the new dies from the Holiday release. Let's get started!

IMG_8640

For my spooky purple background I covered a white sheet of paper with a purple Distress Oxide ink with a foam blending tool. Once all of the paper was covered with ink I sprayed it with water to create the oxide magic. Then I added a spray of a shimmer mist to make it sparkle.

I die cut the Woodland Bridge Frame in black and then covered it with clear Wink of Stella to make it sparkle. I die cut a circle moon and added a little bit of ink before gluing it all to my card.
IMG_8640

My final touch was the eyes. I glued them to the scene in a few different places to look like a spooky creature peeking out at you. Thanks for visiting the blog today and have a fabulous and crafty weekend!

Halloween Greetings
by Donna Sledzik

Hello everyone!

Today I have my final Halloween card for the 2017 season.

IMG_3544

I was playing with alcohol ink backgrounds, and thought this one looked like a great Halloween background.

To create this background I took Butterscotch, Terra Cotta, Lettuce, Purple Twillight and Gold Metallic Mixative alcohol inks and added drops of each ink onto Yupo paper.  Then I brushed across the paper with rubbing alcohol and dried it with my heat tool. To add a little more interest to the background I spattered it with rubbing alcohol and dried it once again with the heat tool.

IMG_3541

I die cut the spider web in the top right hand corner of the card and mounted this to a white cardstock layer.  The word "Greetings" was die cut and embossed with gold embossing powder and then glued to a strip of vellum paper.  I adhered this to the card front and then stamped and embossed the word "Halloween" to the card front.

IMG_3542

To finish the card, I glued a spider to the web and mounted my card front to a Licorice cardstock layer, which I then adhered to a white card base.

I hope you enjoyed todays card and have a Happy Halloween!

Curved Picket Fence, Playful Boo, Tall Fern Left Corner, Swirling Ghosts and Seaweed Stalks by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxTallFernLeftCorner-MemoryBoxSwirlingGhosts-MemoryBoxCurvedPicketFence-MemoryBoxPlayfulBoo-MemoryBoxSeaweedStalks-BirchPressSequins-JeanOkimoto-DiecutHalloweenCards-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Swirling Ghosts are working overtime this fall - here they are again with the new Curved Picket Fence and Playful Boo.  Tall Fern Left Corner and Seaweed Stalks add a bright touch to a spooky card - it's OK to be orange today.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here - I was inspired by Donna's great card and couldn't resist making just one more Halloween card for you.

Cut Swirling Ghosts from watercolor paper.  Give the two larger ghosts some eyes with scraps of black cardstock.

Cut Tall Fern Left Corner with dark orange cardstock.

Cut two of the dotty Seaweed Stalks from orange cardstock.  Trim one of them so it's a bit shorter, and has just two branches.  This is such a versatile die set - it doesn't have to be seaweed!

Cut Curved Picket Fence from dark kraft cardstock.

Cut Playful Boo from green cardstock.

Attach everything to a Licorice Notecard - use foam dots for the tops of the two larger ghosts.

The tiny Not So Heavy Metal Sequins from Birch Press are attached upside-down here.  I thought they looked sparkly-er on the Licorice Notecard that way.  Have you seen this new collection of beautiful sequins and shimmery accents?

Trick or Treat
by Donna Sledzik

Good morning everyone!

Today I have a great Halloween card for you, which mixes new with old.  The Halloween Sideshow stamp set is one of my favorite Halloween sets.

IMG_3515

To create this card use the smallest rectangle from the Wrapped Stitch Rectangles die set to cut three rectangles from white cardstock, save the cardstock for a card layer. Ink the cut rectangles using Twisted Citron distress ink. Mist them with water and let dry.  Using the Circle Web Collage die, cut two webs from Licorice cardstock, cut them apart and glue onto the sponged rectangle pieces.

IMG_3516

Using foam tape I adhered the saved white die cut card layer to a Licorice cardstock layer, which is glued to a white card base.  I spattered the card with black ink.

I inserted the rectangles back into place on the card front.  Because the white cardstock layer is popped up and the rectangles are glued flat to the Licorice cardstock layer, they create a window.  In the window I placed the stamped and colored Halloween images and the sentiments,  which were stamped on Licorice cardstock strips and embossed using white embossing powder.

IMG_3516

To finish the card I added some orange Nuvo Dots, and that's it!

I hope you enjoyed todays card, and have a great day!
