Assembly:

Adhere an A2 panel from the same paper used for the sentiment to a cream A2 card.  Glue the larger of the 2 frames to the card.  Arrange the Dazzling Seashells around the card front, making sure some of them are right up to the frame.  Adhere the smaller frame to the card base, hiding small portions of the shells.  Adhere the sentiment and add from Fairy Drops, small and medium size, around the shells.

Chocolate Easter bunnies are everywhere each spring.  Have you ever seen a dark chocolate (70% cacao!) Valentine bear?  Let's create one - from the popular Layered Polar Bear set - for your next card.  Add a row of floral hearts with the new Heart Ring Stack and Bright Fairy Jewels for some sparkle. Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a Valentine slimline design of hearts, flowers and a friendly brown bear.

Cut the Layered Polar Bear base bear from dark brown cardtock.  Cut the top layers from a slightly lighter shade of brown.  Attach kraft cardstock scraps behind the ears.  Attach a semicircle of Glossy Black Paper behind the eyes and nose.  The glossy cardstock brightens his eyes.  It looks like he just emerged (early) from hibernation and realized Valentine's Day is just 5 weeks away!

Assemble the bear - leave a portion of his arm unattached to hold the heart diecut.  Use foamtape to attach the top layers of his paws.

Cut white cardstock with the 1.7" x 6.7" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Cut the rectangle with Heart Ring Stack.  Cut a dark pink 6x6 from the Berry Red Collection with the Heart Ring Stack - save the 5th heart offcut for the greeting.

Lay the rectangle over the dark floral Garland 6x6 and find some flowers to fill the heart cutouts.  Mark the area to be cut using the edges of the rectangle as a guide.  Cut the floral print with the next-smallest Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  No measuring or guessing needed!

Attach the print behind the Heart Stack Cut Out.  Add the red outlines, slightly offset for dimension.

Stamp the greeting - from the Big and Little Valentine's  Clear Stamps - on the saved heart with Onyx Black VersaFine.  Quickly emboss it with detail clear powder.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½") - use foamdots for the bear and the top half of the stamped heart.

Add red and light green Bright Fairy Jewels.

Cut a slimline-sized rectangle to cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Create different bear breeds with different shades of brown and change the greeting to match any occasion. There's a light brown teddy-bearish bear coming in my new Valentine cards kit.

Thanks for visiting...have a great week!

Elegant Snowflake Christmas Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I am back with another snowflake card design.  This time it is using metallic color palette with the glitter and mirror paper pads.  These are also go together pretty quickly so you can mass produce them in various colors.  I used champagne and bronze color themes.

B90D2353-8E49-4C87-AD87-754D1C973A69_1_201_a

Snowflake:

Die cut the bottom of the Gloriette Snowflake Collage die from mirror paper.  I used a bronze from Rainbow Reflections Mirror and the champagne gold from Vintage Pastel Mirror pad.  The die cut the top snowflake from a matching glitter paper. Both glitter papers game from the Majestic Hues Glitter pad.  Save all the die cut dots.  Adhere the top snowflake to the bottom and adhere all the dots expect for the tip of the snowflakes.  Instead use the smallest clear Fairy Drops and a medium size for the center.

Sentiment:

Die cut Merry Christmas Curled Script die from Black Glossy paper, 2 times.  Adhere them together.

Assembly:

Cut the Black Glossy paper to 4 1/4" x 9 1/2" and score at the  4 3/4" and fold over to create the card base.  Cut another Black Glossy paper to 4" x 4".  Cut the matching glitter paper to 4 1/4" x 4 1/4".  Adhere the panels together, leaving boards.  Use a thick liquid glue for to adhere to the glitter paper.  Even though the Black Glossy paper is thick, a medium thick glue shows through.  Adhere the snowflake to the center and the sentiment at an angle over the snowflake.

A sparkly heart and shimmery Classic Pair of Ice Skates create a holiday design in soft shades of peach, coral and silver.  Floss or crochet thread adds dimension and texture to the skates.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a holiday slimline design from our Christmas '22 Collection.

Cut the tops of the Classic Pair of Ice Skates from the pale peach

Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad 6x6.  Cut the base from the darker peach sheet.  Cut the runners from the silver 6x6.

Add the realistic look of laces with floss or crochet thread.  Pull another strand of floss or thread over a block of beeswax or paraffin to coat and stiffen the fibers and add some shape to the loops. Tie the bow and tape the ends behind the skates.

Cut the small and medium Starburst Snowflake Discs from the Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad silver sheet.  We're using the inner offcuts here.

Cut the sparkly peach Delicate Pastels Glitter Pad 6x6 with the three largest Double Stitch Happy Heart dies.

Prep the new Keep  Christmas Curled Script die with scrunched waxed paper to help release the delicate letters and little pieces.  Notice how the dots for the letter i in "Christmas" and "in" are created by the other sections of the greeting so we don't need to find - and attach - that elusive teeny tiny circle.  Very smart, thanks Dave Brethauer!

Attach the hearts to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½") - slightly offset so a bit of the white card peeks through.  Attach the other diecuts - use foam dots for left skate. Use a tiny drop of glue to attach the center of the bow to the card.

Add clear Christmas Fairy Dewdrops.  Cut a slimline-sized piece of  cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Slimline cards have plenty of space for large designs - and they'll stand out in a crowd of holiday mail.  Thanks for visiting - see you on Thursday!

Set the scene for Halloween with dies from our Fall '22 and Christmas '22 Collections.  Turn the Christmas '22 Celeste Plate upside-down for a spooky Halloween look with new fall dies.  I see a field of creatures in orderly columns and rows.   Do you see them?

Hi, Jean Okimoto here with another Halloween idea for a year that's gone by so quickly.

Prep the Celeste Plate by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help release the diecut bits and pieces.  Cut it from black cardstock.  Attach it to an orange top-folded A2 Card.

Cut the Nested Globe layers from black cardstock and the dark orange 6x6 sheet in the Sunny Orange Collection.

Cut Rickety House from 6x6 sheets in the Earth Neutral Collection.  Cut a piece of the yellow 6x6 in the Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad for the windows and door.

Cut the fence - from the Rickety House set - from a light orange 6x6 in the Sunny Orange Collection.

The bat and ghosts are from the Haunted Entrance Globe Layer die set.  Cut them from white cardstock and Black Glossy Paper (it's cardstock).

Cut Boo Posh Script from black cardstock and a soft orange sheet in the Sunny Orange Collection.  Assemble the greeting - then attach the little ghosts.

Attach everything to an orange notecard.

Merry Christmas with Frilling Snowflake Ornament
by Angie Cimbalo

Close

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with a fun holiday card featuring the new "Frilling Snowflake Ornament" die.  Here's a closer look at my card:

Close

The sentiment is from a previous holiday release and it's called "Special Merry Christmas" and I cut it in both silver and black glossy card stocks and stacked them up.

The ornament backs are cut from the glossy black card stock and the ornament itself is cut from silver mirror card stock from the Vintage Mirror Pad.  I added the silver outline ornament to the black background die cut and then placed all 3 of them on the card front, with 2 of them hanging off the edges.  After the glue dried, I cut the extra of the sides of the card.

Lastly I added lots of jewels and crystals, all from Memory Box, to jazz up my ornaments.  I really like all the colorful gems with the silver and black!

Here's one last look:

Working with amazing dies like these makes it so easy and quick to create beautiful one of a kind card designs.  Be sure to check out the whole release for all the products that just came out!  You will be amazed at all the possibilities!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you like my card for today!

Another Home Decor Idea Reimagined as a Card
by Anne Thompson

Last week I showed you my front door as a card--a pair of skates with a big plaid bow.  Something else I've done in the past is prop an old sled by the front door with a pair of skates tied to it and a red bow.  Today's card is a variation on that theme using the LAYERED SLED and the smaller CLASSIC PAIR OF ICE SKATES.

IMG_3895-ink

These are the materials I used.

  • red plaid papers from JOLLY CHRISTMAS PP1019
  • a tiny scrap of brown plaid paper from WOODSY PLAID PP1018
  • a scrap of dark brown cardstock from EARTH NEUTRAL SP1009
  • white cardstock
  • a scrap of BLACK GLOSSY SH44004
  • a scrap of silver from VINTAGE PASTEL MIRROR PAD FP1002
  • red embroidery thread and a large-eyed needle
  • a tiny red/white dots bow
  • LAYERED SLED 94686
  • CLASSIC PAIR OF ICE SKATES 94674
  • GLORIETTE SNOWFLAKE COLLAGE 94696 (just the outline that makes the solid shape)

Here's a photo of almost everything on my list.

IMG_3892-ink

to make this card

  • start with a white notecard and add a piece of red plaid paper 5 1/4 X 4 to the front
  • die cut the outline Gloriette Snowflake from a lighter red plaid paper and add it to the notecard
  • die cut the Layered Sled three times--from dark brown cardstock for the base, from silver for the runners, and from a light brown plaid for the wooden slats on the sled top; assemble using a glue pen--don't forget to add the wooden steering bar; add it to the snowflake shape at a bit of an angle
  • for the skates, die cut them three times--from white cardstock, from black glossy paper for the sole and heel, and from silver mirror cardstock for the skate blades; assemble using a glue pen
  • thread a large-eyed needle with a double thread of embroidery floss; tape the ends behind the body of the skate and sew through the loops to make the skate lacings, up from underneath each time; tie the threads for each skate together and secure to the card with a Glue Dot behind the knot
  • add a bow to cover the knot

IMG_3899-ink

When I was working on this card I felt it needed something to anchor the sled and skates.  I tried a variety of shapes behind them before settling on the snowflake outline and then opted to make that in a red plaid paper for more color.  Thinking about it now as I'm writing this I want to make this card again and try a glitter snowflake for even more texture and some added sparkle.  I know I'll be making more sleds--the combinations of papers is limitless--and I'm already thinking of other dies that will work with the sled.  I love how one idea sparks a multitude of others.

This finished card can be used for many occasions throughout the coming winter just by adding an appropriate sentiment inside.

What inspires you when you sit down to design a card? How does that initial idea develop and even change as you gather materials and put things together?

My Front Door Decor as a Card
by Anne Thompson

For the holidays and throughout the winter I hang my old white and well-worn ice skates with a big plaid ribbon on the front door, and that was the inspiration for today's card.

IMG_3886-ink

For this card

Here's what I did to make the skates.

  • I threaded a large-eyed needle with deep red perle cotton and looped it doubled up through the eyelets on the two white cardstock skates.  I sewed from the bottom to the top, taping the loose ends at the bottom on the back of each skate and leaving extra long tails at the top.  (You could use any type of cording or embroidery thread for this.)
  • It works best to assemble the skate starting from the bottom layer--the silver blade.  I put small Glue Dots on the round knobs on the top of the silver skate blades and secured that piece to the back of the black heel/sole of the skates.
  • Then I used a narrow line of glue with a Glue Pen on the top edge of the black piece and added it to the bottoms of the white skates.
  • I knotted the "laces" and used a Glue Dot to anchor that near the top center of the card after I had added a piece of red plaid paper 5 1/4 X 4 to a white notecard.
  • I placed a few Glue Dots behind each skate to attach them to the background paper.

IMG_3889-ink

  • I glued the plaid and white layers of the bow parts together and then assembled the bow using large glue dots behind the small rounded center piece to attach the loops and ribbons.  When I added it to the card I used foam dimensional dots behind the loops and center.

IMG_3890-ink

I have a card that I can use for Christmas or any time throughout the winter.  It might even become an invitation to a skating party.

Gated and Ghosted Creepy Cabin Happy Halloween
by Anne Thompson

I've got an extra post this week and decided to make one more Halloween card before I switch gears and start creating for the December holidays.  The Creepy Cabin sits behind the Fancy Gate while Ghosts in the Forest swirl around.  I think my grandsons will like this one!

IMG_3883-ink

to make this card

  • start with a white notecard
  • cut the CREEPY CABIN 94634 in the center of a piece of BLACK GLOSSY PAPER SH44004; trim it with one of the larger rectangles from RECTANGLE BASICS SET 30086 (or trim with your paper cutter 5 1/4 X 4)
  • add scraps of orange paper behind the cabin windows and door
  • add a scrap of a coral plaid paper from MADRAS PLAID CORAL AND GREEN PP1013 behind the cabin cut-out
  • attach the finished cabin panel to the front of the notecard
  • cut the FANCY GATE GLOBE 94623 from another piece of the Black Glossy Paper and attach it over the cabin, bending the side hinges a bit for more dimension
  • cut the background HAPPY HALLOWEEN POSH SCRIPT 94585 from a scrap of orange paper and the detailed lettering from a scrap of the coral plaid paper; glue them together and place at the top of the card where it will overlap the top of the gate a tiny bit
  • cut three of the small ghosts from GHOSTS IN THE FOREST 94622 using white glitter paper from the MAJESTIC HUES GLITTER PAD GP1008; add them to the front against the black paper with dimensional foam dots
