Layer a trio of Rose Blossoms on a Diagonal Strip Collage background of blended inks.  Add a thoughtful greeting from the Peony Garden Corner Clear Stamps and Dies set to remind someone how wonderful they are.  Hello and happy weekend - Jean Okimoto here with a flowery Garden Party Collection card for you.

An ink-blended strip of cardstock from my stash peeks through the new Diagonal Stripe Collage.  It's a great die for backgrounds throughout the year - beachy blues for the summer, warm earthtones for fall and icy winter pastels for the holidays.  Use it for pressure-embossing - or to diecut a cool stencil too.

Cut white cardstock with the 4-¼" x 5-½" Rectangle Basics die.  Cut it with the Diagonal Stripe Collage.  Stamp the greeting - from the Peony Garden Corner Clear Stamps and Dies set - with Verdant VersaFine Clair.  Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.

Attach the inked strip behind the cutout.  Attach the rectangle to a top-folded white A2 card.

Spritz the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper with a very light mist of water.  Ink it with blended, overlapping layers of worn lipstick and picked raspberry Distress Oxides.  Dry the inks, then cut three 3 each of the Rose Blossom backgrounds and detailed overlay.  Assemble the blossoms and highlight the centers with squeezed lemonade Distress Oxide.

Cut two Scribble Leafy Branch Backgrounds from green cardstock.  Assemble the card and accent the blossoms with Orange Sherbert Open Studio Glitter Glue.  Add ¼" punched circles of the light pink glitter cardstock from the Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad.

Create a Wide Washi Tape Background Border by Jean Okimoto

Layer the Cascadia Background Strip over the Cornelia Aqua Wide Washi Tape to create a bold border for the Splendid Poppy Stems.  The washi tape has so many pretty colors  it's easy to find matching inks for the poppies.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with more designs from our Garden Party Collection.

MemoryBoxCascadiaBackgroundStrip, MemoryBoxSplendidPoppy Stems, MemoryBoxTwinklingJewelGlitterPad, MemoryBoxCorneliaWideWashiTape, MemoryBoxPeonyGardenCornerClearStamps, MemoryBoxFairySugarGlitterGlue, JeanOkimoto, FlowerDiecuts, BorderDiecuts, WatercoloredFlowers, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Cut Splendid Poppy Stems from the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Give it a light spritz of water to help blend the inks, then sponge it with Distress Oxides. The colors used here are carved pumpkin, worn lipstick, squeezed lemonade and mowed lawn.

Cut a 3-¾" x 5-⅝" rectangle of smooth white cardstock.  Cut it with the new Cascadia Background Strip.  Attach a strip of Cornelia Aqua Wide Washi Tape to printer paper -  it's lighter than cardstock and the edges won't show under the rectangle.  Attach it behind the rectangle.

Stamp the greeting - from the new Peony Garden Corner Clear Stamps and Die Set - with VersaFine Clair Shady Lane.

Attach everything to a white A-6 card.  Add ¼" punched circles of yellow glitter cardstock from the Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad.  Accent the flowers with Open Studio Sour Apple Glitter Glue.

I love the pretty mix of blue and orange flowers on the Cornelia Aqua Wide Washi Tape. It's fresh and different - and looks like it'll be a great match for the new speckled egg Distress Oxide inkpad.

Thanks for visiting - see you again this weekend!

Celebrate Friendship with Splendid Poppy Stems and Gilia Stems by Jean Okimoto

P1150286

Friends and flowers can make any day better...celebrate a lasting friendship with a special card for someone who's always there for you.   Hi, Jean Okimoto here with flowers, glitter and bright colors today.

P1150313

Diecut the Gilia Stems from rainbow-inked cardstock.  The diecut section includes blended layers of Distress Oxides - worn lipstick, picked raspberry, abandoned coral, squeezed lemonade, mowed lawn and peeled paint.  Cut the flower, add more squeezed lemonade, then color the stem with more mowed lawn and peeled paint.

Cut Splendid Poppy Stems from another rainbow-inked piece and add more of the same three colors.

Cut the green print from the Springtime Bouquet 6x6 Set with the medium-sized Stylish Rectangle Trio die.  Stamp a scrap of the same print with the greeting from the Poppystamps Greeting Basics Clear Stamps Set and Shady Lane VersaFine Clair.  Quickly emboss it with detail clear powder.

P1150280

Here's a tip...trim greeting blocks with dies from the Rectangle Basics or Square Basics sets.   Some dies are already perfectly-sized for our greeting stamps.  If not, just use a die that's slightly larger and trim the excess cardstock.  You'll have perfectly-cut greeting blocks or strips - without those wonky lopsided edges that aren't really noticeable...until it's attached to the card.

Lightly ink the edges of the background and greeting block.  It's been years since I've inked the edges of my diecuts!

Cut green glitter cardstock from the Twinkling Jewel 6x6 Glitter Pad with the new Poppystamps Grosgrain Bow.

P1150298

Trim the lower leaf from the Gilia flower (it would have been covered by the bow) and attach it just below the blossom.   Attach the diecuts to an A-6 (4-½" x 6-¼") natural white notecard.  Accent the flowers with Goldfinch Open Studio Glitter Glue.

Hope you'll have some time to create a card for special people in your life - where would we be without them?

Thanks for visiting - see you again on Thursday... Jeansignature-3

Stenciled Leafy Rows and the Wild Rose Stem by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxWildRoseStemClearStampsAndDiesSet, MemoryBoxLeafyRowsArtStencil, MemoryBoxOpenStudioGlitterGlue, JeanOkimoto, FlowerStamps, ClearStamps, Stencils, GlitterGlue, StampAndDieSets, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, ImagineCrafts, DistressOxides, HandmadeFlowerCards

Pair the Wild Rose Stem blossoms with the Leafy Rows Art Stencil for a different look.  It’s easy – and another way to get more from the great designs in our Spring 2020 release.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here after extended blog-posting problems - let's pretend it's still Thursday and get started...

P1150267

Mask the top row – and the second row of leaves on the right.  Mask the bottom leaves too.  The leaves on both sides will be trimmed later -  they don’t need masking.

Stencil the leaves on light green cardstock with mowed lawn and bundled sage Distress Oxide.  Dry the inks and trim the cardstock to 3” x 4-¼”.  Attach strips of dark green cardstock for the stems.  No matching dark green cardstock?  Just sponge more ink onto a scrap of light green cardstock and cut it into strips.

Stamp the flower tops from the Wild Stem Rose Clear Stamps and Dies Set on the smoother side of Coral Creme cardstock with Onyx Black VersaFine Clair.  Quickly emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut it with the coordinating die and trim any bits of the stem below the flowers.  Shade it with worn lipstick Distress Oxide and Cheerful VersaFine Clair.

Prep black cardstock with the embossing powder tool.  Stamp the greeting – also from the stamp set – with VersaMark and emboss it with detail white powder.

Attach everything to an A-6 (4-1/2” x 6-1/4”)  Coral Crème card – use foam tape for the greeting.  Add Sour Apple Sparkle Glitter Glue to the flower centers.

P1150239

Here’s an easy way to organize coordinating dies – attach them to curtain rings.  Tape the product info from the package onto a cardstock tab and attach it to the ring for quick reference.  Everything stays together and they’re easy to identify too - some of the shapes can be hard to identify if they go astray!

This card began as a "what if...?" idea and evolved from there.  Discover unique ways to use your supplies and tools while we social distance and craft alone.   Hope we're keeping you inspired – and crafting – while staying safe at home.  Thanks for visiting!

Color the Wild Rose Stem with Stenciled Distress Oxides by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxWildRoseStemClearStampsAndDieSet, MemoryBoxOpenStudioWatercolorPaper, MemoryBoxSpringtimeBouquetStripesAndDots, MemoryBoxFairySugarGlitterGlue, JeanOkimoto, 6x6Prints, StencilTechniques, DiecutFlowers, SlimlineCards

The bold, beautiful Wild Rose Stem is easy to watercolor - and even easier to stencil for a watercolored look.  Chose your favorite Distress Oxides and stencil them onto the stamped and embossed image for a super-quick and easy design.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a simple technique card for spring.

MemoryBoxWildRoseStemClearStampsAndDieSet, MemoryBoxOpenStudioWatercolorPaper, MemoryBoxSpringtimeBouquetStripesAndDots, MemoryBoxFairySugarGlitterGlue, JeanOkimoto, 6x6Prints, StencilTechniques, DiecutFlowers, SlimlineCards

Stamp the flowers - from the Wild Rose Stem Clear Stamps and Dies Set - on the smoother side of Memory Box Open Studio Watercolor Paper with Onyx Black VersaFine.  Heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut medium or heavyweight vellum with the matching die.  Vellum retains a crisp edge and doesn't absorb the stenciled inks.

Stencil the image with Distress Oxides - worn lipstick, mowed lawn, bundled sage and squeezed lemonade.  Blend the inks with a damp paintbrush or waterbrush - make it look less stenciled, more watercolored!  Heat-set it, then diecut it.

Cut a 5-3/4" x 2-¾"  strip of the pale green Springtime Bouquet Stripes and Dots 6x6 paper.  Score, cut and fold a 6-¼" x 3-½" card of Berry Blush cardstock.

Paint the smoother side of Memory Box watercolor paper with a light layer of worn lipstick Distress Oxide. Dry the ink. Stamp the greeting - also from the Wild Rose Stem set - with Onyx Black.  Emboss it with detail clear powder.  Trim it.

MemoryBoxWildRoseStemClearStampsAndDieSet, MemoryBoxOpenStudioWatercolorPaper, MemoryBoxSpringtimeBouquetStripesAndDots, MemoryBoxFairySugarGlitterGlue, JeanOkimoto, 6x6Prints, StencilTechniques, DiecutFlowers, SlimlineCards

Trim the top and bottom right corners of the card and green striped piece and  greeting strip wih a corner rounder  Assemble the card - use foam dots for the greeting.  Accent the flowers with dots of Open Studio Buttercup Glitter Glue.

Thanks for visiting - see you again this weekend!

Beary Best by Jean Okimoto

Here's a card that was inspired by window teddy bear sightings in our neighborhood.  They were actually bears, elephants, monkeys, cats, bunnies and some we couldn't recognize - all out there and enjoyed by families on daily walks. Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a card that's very different from the Easter project I was planning to post - hope you like it.

We all need something to smile about right now - why not make a card for that?  Share it with neighbors from your window, or send it to someone for their window.

MemoryBoxSnowBunny, MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles, MemoryBoxCircleBasics, MemoryBoxCottageStripesAndDots6x6Pack, MemoryBoxCottageMeadow6x6Pack, BirchPressDesignYouAreAwesomeClearStamps, MemoryBoxGoldfinchGlitterGlue, MemoryBoxStrawberryIceGlitterGlue, MemoryBoxFairySugarGlitterGlue, JeanOkimoto, VersaFineClair, MemoryBoxDeepEdgeDies, BearDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, DiecutBearCards

The Snow Bunny Deep Edge Set becomes a bear again with just a change of ears.  Cut it from textured metallic kraft paper.  Cut the ear circles with the Circle Basics dies.  Diecut cardboard scrap layers to add dimension to the nose and feet.  The eyes and nose triangle are on one die - cut it from brown cardstock, then color the eye circles with a black marker.

Cut the ear and paw accents from the dark orange Cottage Stripes and Dots 6x6 print.  Cut the dark floral Cottage Meadow 6x6 print with the 3.5" x 4.75" Wrapped Stitch Rectangles die.  Cut the floral tummy piece from the reverse side of the background print.

Cut the 2" x 3.25"  Wrapped Stitch Rectangle from the blue striped Cottage Stripes and Dots 6x6 print.  Stamp the greeting - from the Birch Press Design You Are Awesome Clear Stamps Set - with Pinecone VersaFine Clair on the pumpkin-colored print from the same set.  Heat-emboss it quickly with detail clear powder.

Here's an embossing technique we use in classes...pre-heat the embossing powder from the reverse side of the stamped cardstock, then finish it from the front.  This preheats the powder and (seems to) prevent overheating and scorching the stamped image or words.

Score, fold and cut a blue A-6 (4.5" x 6.25") card.  Attach the diecuts.  Attach the greeting with thin foam tape.

Accent some of the flowers with Goldfinch and Strawberry Ice Open Studio Glitter Glue.  Set the card aside to dry the glue.

Memory Box Deep Edge Dies are great for fabric arts too - you can cut several layers at once.  Cut the larger bear shapes from fabric, then add cardstock details.

MemoryBoxSnowBunny, MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles, MemoryBoxCircleBasics, MemoryBoxCottageStripesAndDots6x6Pack, MemoryBoxCottageMeadow6x6Pack, BirchPressDesignYouAreAwesomeClearStamps, MemoryBoxGoldfinchGlitterGlue, MemoryBoxStrawberryIceGlitterGlue, MemoryBoxFairySugarGlitterGlue, JeanOkimoto, VersaFineClair, MemoryBoxDeepEdgeDies, BearDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, DiecutBearCards

This little guy takes a few minutes to diecut and assemble, but he'll make you smile...promise!  Make some extras and send them to others for their windows too!  Bear cards eliminate problems caused by narrow windowsills, wide bears - or both.

Thanks for stopping by, take care...

Let the new Genoese Egg add layers of dimension and texture to your Easter cards with a combination of shadow diecutting and embossing.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a springy Easter design for you.  Memory Box dies make it easy to add special effects to your cards and layouts - I'll share some techniques here.

MemoryBoxGenoeseEgg, MemoryBoxWildGrassBorder, MemoryBoxCherryBlossomElements, MemoryBoxLittleBunnyTrio, MemorytBoxHalfADozenEggs, MemoryBoxRectangleBasics, MemoryBoxGentleBunny, MemoryBoxOpenStudioWatercolorPaper, MemoryBoxDelicatePastelGlitterPad, MemoryBoxSpringtimeBouquetStripesAndDots, JeanOkimoto, DistressOxides, EasterDiecuts, BunnyDiecuts, GlitterDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Sponge the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper with Twisted Citron, Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxides.  Spritz it with a very light mist of water, then use the inky daubers or sponges to soften and blend the adjacent colors.

MemoryBoxGenoeseEgg, MemoryBoxWildGrassBorder, MemoryBoxCherryBlossomElements, MemoryBoxLittleBunnyTrio, MemorytBoxHalfADozenEggs, MemoryBoxRectangleBasics, MemoryBoxGentleBunny, MemoryBoxOpenStudioWatercolorPaper, MemoryBoxDelicatePastelGlitterPad, MemoryBoxSpringtimeBouquetStripesAndDots, JeanOkimoto, DistressOxides, EasterDiecuts, BunnyDiecuts, GlitterDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Cut it with the 3-¼" tall Half a Dozen Eggs die.  Pressure-emboss it using the plates and rubber embossing mat required for your machine.  Cut Genoese Egg from an adjacent section of the watercolor paper.  Cut Genoese Egg again from smooth white cardstock and remove the outer rim - we're using just the decorative inner section.

Attach the white portion - slightly offset -  behind the watercolored diecut.  Attach that to the pressure-embossed egg.

Cut the pale yellow/green dotted sheet from the Springtime Bouquet 6x6 pack with the 4.25" x 5.5" Rectangle Basics die.  Attach it to a side-folded white A-2 card.

Cut Wild Grass Border from green cardstock.  Trim the short edges with the 4.25" x 5.5" rectangle basics die.

Cut Gentle Bunny and the two larger bunnies from the Little Bunny Trio from the white glittered cardstock in the Delicate Pastel 6x6 pack.

Cut three flowers from the Cherry Blossom Elements set from the white cardstock in the Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad.  Color the flowers with a pale peach marker.

Attach the diecuts to the background.  Add dots of Sour Apple Sparkle Glitter Glue to the flower centers.  Set the cards aside to dry the glitter glue.

Take care and stay healthy...

Sparkly Stain Glass Butterfly
by Trina Pham

4FFEDD6E-BB48-42C9-9E55-9CE62D590411

Helloooo there!  It’s been a while since I last posted, so I’m happy to be here today to share a clean and simple (CAS) card inspired by this month’s Glitter Paper or Glue challenge.

The Sparkly Stained Glass technique involves Glossy Accents and glitter, but I thought the gorgeous glitter glue from the Spring release would be a great substitute for them.  I started by die cutting the large outline butterfly from Gloriosa Butterfly Duo Outlines from silver foil paper and the matching background butterfly from acetate.  Adhered them together, then flipped over to the back side.  In the open areas, Topaz Gleam and Tropical Glimmer glitter glue were added then set aside to dry overnight.

0B479671-CF69-423D-BCA7-7E827A8F1D0D

And this is what resulted.  A little confession.  Even though a generous amount of glue was used, there were still some areas (mainly along the edges) that were missed.  Rather than adding more glitter glue, I used a closely matched Copic marker to colour in the areas on the back on the acetate.  Could you tell? 😂

6CCBA79A-76AE-46BE-857E-375F0FCE6543

The background was created on an A2 size piece of Bristol paper.  Using 1” painter’s tape, the four sides were masked off, leaving the center.  Blueprint Sketch distress ink was then blended on with a blender brush.  Flicked on some water and dabbed off with a paper towel to give it some texture.  The card would have been done had there not been a smear. <grrr>  To fix that, I added the frame, made with the Double Stitch Rectangle Cut Out and Rectangle Basics dies.  To finish, the Seaside Hello sentiment was die cut three times and stacked for dimension.  Twice from white and once from silver foil.

B4D2EFBB-CD1C-416B-8BD1-A095F341C1EE

That’s it from me today.  Hope you and your family are all keeping safe and healthy. Wishing you all a wonderful crafty weekend.
