White and Bright Slimline Design by Jean Okimoto

P1014447

Are you ready for another floral slimline design?  Hi everyone, Jean Okimoto here with more March Challenge inspiration for you.  It's a mix of Memory Box and Birch Press Design - and the reverse of my usual bright flowers on a white background.

Enjoy the versatility of our latest release - mix and match the diecuts, rotate them for a new look or layer them for extra dimension.

P1014462

Blend twisted citron, salvaged patina and wilted violet Distress Oxides on smooth white cardstock.  Dry the inks, then add a quick spritz of Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz.  Let it dry, then cut it with the 1-⅞" x 6-⅞" Slim Basic Rectangles die.

Cut Daisy Blossom Stem from heavy white cardstock.  Cut the Birch Press Design Star Flowers Contour Layers too.

Cut the mint and turquoise Star Flowers centers from the new Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad.  Cut a chartreuse center for the Daisy Blossom too.  Love how Rainbow Reflections colors match the Distress Oxides - the greeting too!

Assemble the flowers.  The top layer of the Daisy Blossom is used upside-down to create a rounder flower.

Cut the Miss You Posh Script background from heavy white cardstock.  Cut the delicate greeting from the violet sheet in the Rainbow Reflections set.

P1014442

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-½" x 8-½").  That's it!

Chose your favorite colors and create a stash of ink-blended backgrounds for your favorite Memory Box, Birch Press Design and Poppystamps designs.  Diecut a bunch of blossoms, leaves and stems too - to save some time when you need a quick card.

Thanks very much for visiting our blog - have a great weekend!

Rainbow Poppies
by Trina Pham

2CE1B7EC-49CB-4706-B1DD-E2E028662509

Hello everyone.  Looks like Spring officially arrives tomorrow here in the northern hemisphere, so I thought I would welcome it with a cute rainbow floral scene card featuring the Enchanting Poppy Stems die from the 2022 Spring release.

There are two size poppies in this die set.  I used the small one to die cut all parts from white alcohol marker-friendly cardstock, then coloured them with Copic Sketch markers.  Did the same for the Wild Grass Border used to help ground the poppies, but in hindsight, it would have been quicker to die cut it from the Lush Green paper.

D42A6311-19C4-4BFD-B48F-96ACB78F63AC

Mixed media paper was trimmed to A2 size (5.5”x4.25”) next, then Cracked Pistachio and Tumbled Glass distress inks were blended on with blender brushes to create the ground and sky, respectively.  The Hello Friend Posh Script was die cut from black glossy paper.  Assembled the card onto a white card base then added clear shimmer to the poppies for a bit of sparkle to finish.

That does it for my spring rainbow poppy card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Miss You Challenge Reminder
by Trina Pham

CC46C48B-0821-4B9B-9E5A-55CD12606C57

Hello everyone.  I’m back to colouring die-cuts today, but this time I am focusing on the beautiful Verdant Arch foliage die from the 2022 Spring release.

Started by die cutting the Verdant Arch from alcohol marker-friendly cardstock.  Cut them in half then colored with blue Copic Sketch markers (B39, B37, B34 and B32).  I was about to color them in their natural green color, but thought colouring them blue would be more fun… plus, it’s my favorite color after all. 😉

A16A1E3D-6616-4139-B9F8-9D5EF4CB93B4

The leaves were then arranged and glued onto an A2 size panel cut from Bristol paper.  For some texture, splattered with diluted Prize Ribbon distress ink and white gouache paint.  Finished with the Miss You posh script sentiment that was die cut from yellow (which looks like gold) Rainbow Reflections Mirror paper and adhered onto its white shadow.

This is a reminder that the Miss You/Thinking of You challenge is open until March 30 11:59 pm EST.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Layered Blossom in a Pinpoint Frame by Jean Okimoto

P1013925

It's easy to create a stash of any-occasion cards with Memory Box printed papers, detailed dies and color-coordinated 6x6 collections.  Add a thoughtful greeting from the new Friends and Family Clear Stamp Set and the sparkle of turquoise Bright Jewels.  Done!

Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a basic design that's quick and easy - and just might make a tiny dent in your paper stash.  The Garden Folly 6x6 set is a classic favorite of floral and contempory prints for year-round greetings.  The colors coordinate with our 6x6 color collections, glittered cardstock, mirror cardstock and adhesive gems.

P1013979

Cut Hex Half Pinpoint twice - from adjacent sections - of the Garden Folly 6x6 leafy print. Tape the pieces together to form a hexagon frame.  Cut a 3-¾" square of a teal sheet in the Fresh Aqua 6x6 set.  Attach it behind the frame.  Attach it to a side-folded olive A2 card.

Cut the double-flowered Riverbank Large Layered Blooms from the light teal Fresh Aqua 6x6.  Cut the single blossom (and round center) fron the pale aqua Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad 6x6.  Assemble the flower and attach it to the background.

P1013943

Stamp the greeting - from the new Friends and Family Clear Stamp Set - on a bright lime 6x6 from the Lush Green Collection with Shady Lane VersaFine Clair.  Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.  Trim it and attach it to the card, tucked under a petal.  Add turquoise jewels from the Bright Jewels set.

Thanks for visiting the blog...hope you love our newest collection as much as we do.  Enjoy creating with the wide range of floral and garden designs as spring approaches.  See you again on Friday!

Enchanting Poppy Stems Slimline by Jean Okimoto

Enchanting Poppy Stems add spring color to a slimline friendship card.  Layer them over an ink-blended backdrop and the Cascadia Background Strip.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with another beautiful, versatile floral set from our February 2022 Collection.

MemoryBoxEnchantingPoppyStems, MemoryBoxMissYouPoshScript, MemoryBoxOceanBlue6x6, MemoryBoxLushGreen6x6, MemoryBoxChristmasFairyCrystals, MemoryBoxCascadiaBackgroundStrip, MemoryBoxWrappedStitchedSlimRectangles, MemoryBoxCo, MemoryBoxDies, HandmadeCards, DiecutFlowerCards, SlimlineCards, FlowerDiecuts, WordDiecuts, DiecutBackgrounds, DiecutWords, DiecutFlowers, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, JeanOkimoto

Cut white cardtock with the 7-¼" x 2-¼" Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangles die.  Cut the rectangle with Cascadia Background Strip.  Blend blue, green, purple and teal inks on smooth white cardtock - use a piece large enough for the background strip and the greeting background.

Dry the inks, then spritz it with a light mist of Imagine's Sparkle Shimmer Spritz.  Dry it,  then trim it to fit behind the Cascadia border.  Skip the measuring and/or guessing - just trim it with the 6-½" x 1-½" Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangle die.  It's one size smaller...and guaranteed to fit behind the border!

Cut the Enchanting Poppy Stems blossoms from two shades of the Ocean Blue Collection 6x6's.  Cut pieces of the middle-sized layers from the darker 6x6.  Assemble the flowers.

Cut the leaves and stems from a Lush Green Collection 6x6.  Brush a light layer of Pearlescent Thyme Brilliance onto the narrow accent pieces.  Assemble the leaves.

Cut the extra ink-blended cardstock with the Miss You Posh Script background.  Cut the greeting from white cardstock.  The tiny dot over the "i" disappeared somewhere between my diecutting area and my desk. I used a screwpunch to punch a tiny hole in the background.  The background will be layered over white cardstock and will match the rest of the greeting.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-½" x 8-½").  Add the pale aqua Christmas Fairy Crystals.  Cut a slimline-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Hope you'll join our March Challenge - the theme is Miss You/Thinking of You.  Flowers always add a special touch to cards for any occasion - and would especially appreciated right now.  Here are the details.

Thanks for visiting the blog...see you again this weekend!

You Deserve Happiness
by Angie Cimbalo

Main

Hello and welcome! It's Angie here today with a mini slimline card made with new stamps and dies from the 2022 Memory Box Spring Release!

Here's another look at my card:

1

To make my card I started with a piece of watercolor card stock and smooshed and splattered lots of Distress Inks in pinks, yellow and oranges with lots of water too. Once it dried, I cut the "Memory Box Riverbank Large Layered Blooms" die from it and layered the flower together adhering it with liquid glue.

I stamped the sentiment from the new "Memory Box Friends and Family" Open Studio stamp set in black ink then covered the sentiment with post it notes and splattered black Karin marker watercolor ink on it. Once that dried I added the flower to the top of the card.

The center of the flower was cut from the newly released black glossy card stock and really helps tie the splatters and black ink from the sentiment all together. Lastly I added some Fairy Crystals to the card in two sizes. Here's one last look:

2

I hope you like my card for today! Please stop by the Memory Box blog each day to see more inspiration from the brand new 2022 Memory Box Spring Release!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Stem Silhouettes
by Trina Pham

C460BFAA-F154-4E41-ACCA-F4370208CD3A

Hello and happy Saturday everyone.  I’m playing with more products from the 2022 spring release.  Unlike last time when I colored the die-cuts, I used them as silhouettes here.  This, of course, made the process quick and easy.

Started by die cutting Fresh Cut Stems and Tall Frilly Leaf Stems from black glossy paper… giving them instant shine!  Then on an A2 size Bristol panel, Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Prize Ribbon and Chipped Sapphire distress inks (DI) were blended on with blender brushes for an ombre look.  Spritz with water then dabbed with a paper towel for texture.  Set aside to dry.

E6F239CC-BBD5-4C84-BF45-AE540DF3ECAB

Next, the Miss You Posh Script was die cut 3x from Bristol paper and stacked for dimension.   Arranged and assembled the card onto a white card base to finish.

E3567303-92C1-4B65-ADEC-EE64ACBC922D

This turned out darker than I wanted and since it was so easy to make, I created another card with more spring-like colors and white silhouettes.

63E2561E-3B94-47D4-A3C6-1825E071ABD1

The distress inks used here are Tumbled Glass, Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry and Scattered Straw.  I made sure to keep a light hand when blending to keep the colours soft.

Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Textured Garden Greetings by Jean Okimoto

Pinks and greens - and a favorite felt Bunny Face - create a friendship card with great new dies from our Spring 2022 Collection.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a layered, monochromatic design - and a lot of textured details.

The Memory Box 6x6 Collections make it easy to find the perfect coordinating colors for any project.  Three shades of pink from the Berry Red Collection create the Layered Periwinkles here.

MemoryBoxExquisiteLeafFrame, MemoryBoxLaayeredPeriwinkle, MemoryBoxMissYouPoshScript, MemoryBoxMadrasPlaid6x6Pack, MemoryBoxBunnyFace, MemoryBoxLushGreen6x6, MemoryBoxBerryRed6x6, MemoryBoxJewels, JeanOkimoto, HandmadeCards, BunnyCards, HandmadeFlowerCards, DIYCards, DiecutFlowers, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Cut Exquisite Leaf Frame from a 6x6 in the Lush Green Collection.  Attach it to a green A2 card.  (Or attach it to another Lush Green 6x6 cut with the largest Rectangle Basics die.  Attach them to a white or natural notecard to create a custom-colored notecard.)

Cut the background of the Miss You Posh Script from the offcut of the frame.  Cut the top layer from a pink 6x6.  Assemble the greeting.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to tan and pink wool blend felt and cut Bunny Face and the ears.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from saturating it.  Attach a scrap of black cardstock behind the eyes.

Cut the additional face section from Madras Plaid Coral and Green 6x6.  We're making a facemask here, even if pandemic rules are changing daily.   Cut 2 pieces of peach crochet thread or floss. Tape them - crossed - behind the plaid piece.  Attach the mask to the face and tape the thread/floss ends behind the face.

Attach the diecuts to the card.  Add pink Pastel Jewels.

A simple change of greetings could make this a get well card - or a hello card for someone you haven't seen in a while.  Add a few pastel egg or jellybean diecuts - and it's an Easter card!

Thanks for visiting - have a great weekend.  See you next week!

Rainbow Magic Slider
by Trina Pham

7E198A3A-C5F4-467A-BF15-5C888518B8A7

Hello everyone.  No Valentine’s / heart card today.  Instead I’m sharing a fun and colorful magic slider card featuring the Arched Collage die.  Confused with the “colorful” description from the picture above? 🤔   Then see it in action in the video below! 😉

I’ve only made this type of card using stamps and wanted to try it with dies.  Started by trimming a white top folding card base and a piece of mixed media paper to 4.25”x5”.  The width was 0.5” shorter than a regular A2 size to accommodate for the slider pull tab handle.  Next, die cut the Arched Collage from the mixed media piece, which leaves a negative cut.  This will be the front.

0B741F6F-2AAE-46E3-90A8-4BC5D104BBB6

The cutout arches were coloured in rainbow order with Copic markers.  Adhered the negative cut front piece on top of the card base with temporary adhesive and used it as a guide to adhere the colored arches directly onto the card base like so.

507EA060-A34A-463A-84CC-69BC2D1DCAE0

For the slider, it was cut to 3.5”x5.5” from white woodgrain paper.  Dies from Rectangle Basics were then used to partial die cut a t-shape on one end and a notch for the slider pull tab handle on the other end.  No measuring… just eyeballed it.

F9D124CC-CACC-445C-B26D-98AA62F08D5D

Acetate was then adhered to the back of the front piece.  Still working on the back, strips of thick white cardstock (could use foam / mounting tape here instead) were adhered to three sides to create a channel for the slider to move back and forth.  To help guide the slider and provide a stopper, a stabilizer was created by wrapping a strip of 0.5” copy paper onto itself around the slider piece.

B87FDFA1-3AEE-47FB-BA65-3D61F303E195

Note: Very important to add glue only on the outside of the stabilizer and the perimeter strips when assembling the card… otherwise, it will interfere with the sliding action.

93AF43F5-D43D-4407-925B-713C112DC9E5

A circle was die cut from black cardstock and folded in half to create the slider pull tab handle.  The Hello Friend posh script was die cut from Bristol paper 3x and stacked for dimension before mounting onto its black shadow.

A8C1213E-70D1-4BF0-903A-E29A2FC6581B

For a polished look, a frame was added to the front.  The clouds were die cut from white woodgrain paper as well and their edges inked with a finger brush and Tumbled Glass distress ink.  Assembled the card then hand printed “pull” with a white gel pen on the slider pull tab handle to finish.

Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful week, especially if you are celebrating Valentine’s day.
