Don't save the new Stitched Happy Holiday Square Frame for winter cards...use it for celebrations throughout the year.  The "holiday" portion of the die is separate and interchangeable so you can mix and match typestyles, backgrounds and colors.  I've combined it with the "birthday" from the Open Studio Party Clear Set.

Anyone for a Picnic?

Hello, Stampers!

We just had a small, mini-release, and I was inspired to make a picnic basket with our new fruit dies. I supplemented with some of earlier dies and punches to add a bottle of wine and some glasses, a "cheese", a loaf of bread, and some flowers.

Use your dies to represent something they aren't. I used the edge of a butterfly wing to be the loaf of French bread, the cake to make a container of something tasty, (it was originally supposed to be a cheese - lol), and the bottle from Witch Kit to act as a wine bottle.

Thanks for stopping and have a blessed day!

Stencil and Tiles

Whoohoo the weekend is almost here, and I'm definitely looking forward to the 75 degrees and sunny forecast for Saturday!!  With Mother's Day and Father's Day just around the corner, I wanted to do something a little bit different for today's post and show a wonderful way to use stencils to make a great gift set.

I created a set of coasters for my Dad for Father's Day though of course Moms drink tea and coffee as well:)

Mbtiles1

I've used the fabulous stencil called Rings and Puddles 88506. As soon as I saw this stencil all I could think of is that it looks just like the coffee rings and spots on the "good furniture" (as my mother would say) that my dad created with his coffee cups!  I wanted to give him a reminder of the good ol days:)

I picked up the 4x4" unglazed tiles from Lowe's (you can find them at Home Depot too)...they may be referred to as natural stone tiles depending on the store.  I washed the tiles with warm water and soap just to get the extra dust off so the ink would take better to the tile.  I used a rag and added copic refill (Y28) to the rag and rubbed it on the tile to give the tile a little darker color.

Mbtiles2

I prefer using tiles that aren't completely smooth to add a little more character and texture, and it looks a little more natural and worn as well.

Spray the backside of the stencil with a temporary adhesive as the stencil will tend to slip since the tile is not flush with the table top like paper.  I've found Stazon ink is the best ink when I work on tile because it dries quickly and is permanent.  I applied the ink using a blending tool and foam pad. I stamped out different portions of the stencil varying the patterns on each of the tiles so each had a slightly different unique look.

Mbtiles3

I cut a 3.75 x 3.75" piece of self adhesive cork and apply to the back of the tile.  I used a corner rounder prior to applying the cork, but that's my own personal preference.  The last step is to apply several coats of acrylic sealer letting the tiles completely dry before applying each coat.

I hope I've inspired you to a little bit today!  I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and can find some time to do what they enjoy.

Hello Fall!

PamSparksHelloFallFront700
[click photos to view full size]

Are you enjoying Fall colors where you live?  Such a beautiful time of year!  I used the new Perfect Pumpkins die with the Autumn Trees stamphello die and Upper Case Parker Alphabet die set

PamSparksHelloFallClose700

I die cut the pumpkins out of Memory Box Jack o Lantern card-stock, they emboss and cut all in one pass through the machine.  I colored the lines with YR12 and the stem with E47  Copic Sketch markers.

OH,  almost forgot...see the teeny leaves on the tops of the pumpkins?!   I die cut the Elyse Christmas Tree out of Memory Box Dill card-stock, trimmed off pieces and glued them on behind the pumpkins.

I inked up the Autumn Trees stamp with Black pigment ink and heat embossed with Detail Clear Embossing Powder on Memory Box Pool card-stock. Trimmed that layer and matted on Memory Box Licorice card-stock.  That panel is adhered to a Memory Box Crimson A-2 Notecard.

I like to make multiple cuts of the word sentiments and glue them together to sturdy them up.  Hello is four cuts glued together.  FALL is one cut but I used thin mounting squares cut in strips to adhere them to the card.

That's it for today... THANKS so much for your visit!  I enjoy visiting the MB Flickr gallery everyday to see what you're all posting!  Thanks so much for linking to the Fall card contest! Good luck!

Cheers!

Here come the holidays and you may be called on to bring the wine or sparkling cider to the dinner party, gift exchange or tree trimming party.

Whatever the occasion, dress up the bottle to suit the festivities by creating a decked out "bottle bib".  Every hostess would love to see you at her door with this thoughtful gift.

Cheers!

This is a full size wine bottle and the bib measurement is 3.5" x 11".  I scored one end at 3.5" to create the collar area and die cut the Large Circle Burst to give a stylish bottle neck opening.  I think this is my favorite part--the bottle peeks though the radiating holes giving a hint to the contents.

The Grand Merry Christmas die was cut and layered onto Memory Box's Beary Good paper and the elf hat was added as a jaunty flourish.  It adds a touch of whimsy like elves themselves.

To match the Beary Good paper, I added the Holiday Spirit Bear and dressed him up with some Mini Holly on his neck scarf--too cute!

I'm not sure if you can see it very well but there is a dangling Precious Snowflake on the bow bejeweled with gemstones--gotta have sparkle for the holidays!

I'm going to make a few of these to have at-the-ready for holiday occasions...better make some for Halloween, Thanksgiving, New Year's too....lots to make, gotta go!

Happy Friday~

3-Tiered Chocolate Birthday Cake

P1110478September is a popular month for birthdays - celebrate with a 3-tiered cake from Memory Box!  Jean Okimoto here with a party cake composed of Vanilla Bean Memory Box Signature Prints - Dots, Moroccan and Distressed Dots.

View the Memory Box Collection of dies, stamps and Signature Prints here.

Diecut Petite Cake 98547 from the prints, flip the scalloped icing trim accents over to the unprinted side and attach them to each piece.  Cut Scalloped Cake Stand 98541 from Thistle Cardstock.  Assemble the layers and attach everything to a rectangle of Peony Cardstock.

Stamp Happy Birthday Background G1921 on Thistle Cardtock with Glacier Lake.  Ink the edges with Glacier Lake.  Attach a strip of Thistle Dots.  Punch 3/8" circles of Thistle Gingham.  Attach the pieces to a Peony Notecard.  Coordinate the cheerful card with a matching Peony Envelope - or a Thistle Envelope, just to be different!

A Summer Party...

Here is another card from my last class at Ink About It.  I wanted to create a summer patio party scene.  I was inspired by the leafy border die (#98628).  Upside down it seemed to be the perfect party canopy hanging from a pergola at a summer party.

MemBoxMay13Lantern

The lanterns (#98600) looked pretty hanging from the  Corner Bow die (#98371).   I made a table from Pool Gingham paper and the Fleur de Lis Border die (#98577) upside down on the edge of the card.  The Party Glasses (#98530) were lined up along the edge of the table and cut.  I taped acetate behind the glasses and cut Moroccan paper in cranberry and mango  to look like fruity drinks in the glasses.   I used glossy accents to adhere the paper behind the acetate.  I stamped the sentiment (#B1910), matted it and adhered it to the card.  This would also make a nice anniversary or wedding card.

Thanks for stopping by.

Take Time for Tea

P1070353Maybe Spring has really arrived this time!  Hi - Jean Okimoto here - combining vintage-chic and bright pastels on a quick card.  It features the new Vintage Clock E1930 stamp and matching Vintage Clock 98622 die.  Add a colorfully mismatched set of tea cups with the Dainty Tea Cup Die 98581 - and you're ready for Spring.

Make a card for Mom on her day - it's May 12th this year.  Or create a set of them as a sweet teacher's gift to accompany a giftcard from her favorite teashop.

P1070371

The ColorBox Circus Petal Point Inkpads Set has the perfect colors to add soft, inky highlights to the teacups - matching papers and inks can't get any easier than that!  They're just used to edge the tea cups here - but the colors are great for any project.

Thanks for visiting - enjoy your day!
