Cheerful Floral
by Theary Chea

Hello, and welcome back to the blog. My name is Theary, and I am sharing a card I created using the beautiful Cheerful Floral stamp and stencil set. So, Let's get started!

MB Cheerful Floral 2

I started by stamping CL5278 Cheerful Floral onto white-colored cardstock that I trimmed to 4 inches by 5.25 inches. I stamped the image using black premium ink. Then, using 88619 Cheerful Floral stencil. I aligned each layer onto the cardstock and blended each layer with a different dye ink color. You can use any color to ink in the stencil. I chose inks in the colors fuchsia, green, and yellow.
MB Cheerful Floral 2

Then, using the last stencil, I used a low tack tape to tape the stencil down onto the colored image. I later went in with a blue shade of ink to ink around the edges of the stencil to create a shadow effect. I also added white highlights throughout the card panel with a white gel pen.
MB Cheerful Floral 2

I matted the card front onto a black piece of cardstock trimmed slightly larger than the card panel. I adhered it to a top folding white card base. I used a strip from ST005 Thank You Foil Greeting Black Tabs for the sentiment. I also added gems from GEM102 Winter Fantasy.

And that's it! I hope you found some inspiration and have time to get crafty. Until next time! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Extra petals become buds for a spring greeting featuring the new Clara Blooms and Solid Core 6x6 Collections. They're arranged on a gold-speckled background created to match the new Black Circle Thank You Foil Greeting Tabs.  Hi, Jean here with a floral Friday idea to start your weekend.

(The new Thank You Foil Greetings Black Circle Tabs are already pre-cut and ready to attach - the Circle Basics set shown above is used to cut a large background circle.)

Cut Clara Blooms from two shades of peachy-pink Blush Collection 6x6's.  Cut the centers from black cardstock.  Assemble two large and one medium blossom.  Trim the petals of the extra blossom to create buds.

Ciut Backyard Floral Stems from a medium-green 6x6 in the new Greenery Collection.

Glue two pieces of white cardstock together for dimension and diecut them with the second-largest Circle Basics die.  Trim about ½" from one side with the largest Square Basics die for a crisp, smooth edge.  Add a few dotty specks of Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz.  Air-dry it for a few minutes, then finish it off with a heat-tool.  Attach it to a top-folded white A2 card.

Attach the Fresh Cut Stems, Clara Blooms and buds - use bits of foam tape for some of the petals. Add a Black Circle Tab Thank You with foam tape.

The variety and versatility of Memory Box's floral collection is like having a huge year-round cutting garden in the back yard.  It's always in bloom and ready for your next project!

Carved Wood Poinsettias
by Trina Pham

IMG_4092

Hello everyone.  Two more sleeps till Christmas and I have another Christmas card to share today. 😂  It’s a rustic masculine poinsettia card created with the Carved Wood technique using the Perfect Poinsettias 3D embossing folder (EF) from the current 2023 Christmas collection.  I saw this technique years ago, but this recent video HERE inspired me to finally give it a try.

Started with a white panel from my stash and three gradient brown color dye ink pads.  Scored the panel vertically at 1/2-inch intervals, then dragged the lightest color ink pad direct-to-paper down the length of the panel several times until satisfied with the faux woodgrain look.  BTW, the ink pads should be the felt type (like the distress inks) and not the foam ones.

IMG_4098

Spritz the back of the panel with water, then placed it into the EF on the flat side with the faux wood pattern facing up and ran it through the die cutting machine.  The image will be debossed, resulting in the reverse image being pushed in.  It’s barely visible in the photo below.

IMG_4094

So to reveal the “carved” image, repeated the direct-to-paper ink pad dragging step with the medium and darkest color ink pads.  Oops, I went a bit heavier handed than I would like.  Doesn’t it looked carved?

IMG_4095

The panel was then trimmed down slightly smaller than A2 size and matted onto dark brown cardstock.  Added the Merry Christmas Foil Greetings Rose Tab for a pop of color.

IMG_4096

Used the Poinsettia Stem die to die cut the poinsettia centers from gold mirror paper.  Assembled and mounted the card onto a white card base to finish.

IMG_4097
That does it for me this year.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a happy holiday!  See you next year.

Here's a simple slimline version of Poinsettia Rub On designs spotlighted on diecut circles.  Accent it with a bright rose-colored  Foil Greeting Tab, Fairy Crystals and Jewels.  Hi, Jean here with a quick design that would also work for holiday thank-you cards with a stamped or diecut greeting.

Cut smooth white cardstock with the 2.25", 2.5" and 3" Circle Basics dies. I keep my Basics dies organized on shower curtain rings from a fabric or home store.

Cut the Poinsettia Rub Ons - leave a generous border around each design.  Carefully remove the paper liner.  Gently tap the design onto the circles.  Place it between two pieces of printer paper and run it through a diecut machine using the plates you'd use for diecutting.  Carefully remove the frosty plastic liner.

Cut the smoother side of pink textured cardstock with the  2.25" x 7.25" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.

Attach the diecuts to a pink slimline card (8-⅝" x 3-⅝").  Trim slightly less than ⅛" from the short ends of a Merry Christmas Foil Greetings Rose (colored) Tab.  Attach the greeting with foamtape.  Greeting Tabs are great for last-minute and/or mass-produced cards.  You'll appreciate the versatile set of 40 tabs - 4 each of 10 typefaces.

Add yellow Bright Jewels to the center of the poinsettia.  Add green Christmas Fairy Crystals for extra sparkle.  Cut a slimline-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Poinsettia Rub Ons have a natural watercolored look and are great for gift tags or holiday treat wrappers too.

Thanks for visiting our blog.  Have a very Merry Christmas if you're celebrating on Monday!

Be merry - and quick - with fail-proof instant greetings.   Create just-in-time cards with tools and supplies that eliminate coloring, measuring, guessing and stamping.  Hi, Jean here with a quick and easy design for another busy weekend.

Cut white cardstock with the die from the Vintage Tray 3D Embossing Folder and Die Set.  You'll have 5 diecuts perfectly-proportioned to use with the Poinsettia Rub-Ons.

Cut the rub-on designs - leave a generous border around the images.  Carefully remove the paper liner and lightly press the transfer onto the diecuts.  Place it between two layers of printer paper and run it through a diecut machine using plates you'd use for basic diecutting.  Carefully remove the frosty plastic layer.

Cut pink cardstock with the 3-¾" wide A2 Rectangle Frames die.  Attach everything to a pink A2 card.

Attach a Merry Christmas Foil Greetings Rose (colored) Tab with foam tape. These new instant-greetings are in a set of 40 - 4 each of 10 typefaces to match any holiday design.

Add yellow Bright Jewels to the poinsettia. Attach lime green Bright Jewels to each of the rub-on blocks.  Cut an A2-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Mix and match the different poinsettia, foliage and berry rub-ons for Christmas and holiday thank-you cards.  They're great for gift tags and placecards too!  Attach them to a miniature evergreen for a very special Christmas display or centerpiece.

Thanks for visiting...see you next week!

Playing with Patterned Papers
by Anne Thompson

This month's Outside the Box blog challenge is to work with patterned papers.  In an effort to use a whole bunch of them from Jolly Christmas and Garland paper pads, here's the card I made.

IMG_2627 (1)

to make this card

IMG_2613 (1)

  • begin by selecting coordinating papers--I chose ones from JOLLY CHRISTMAS PP1019 and GARLAND PP1010
  • cover the front of a white note card with the paper that has the floral detail in the lower left corner
  • cut one of the papers--I used the plaid with the most white in it--3 X 4 1/4; mount that onto a dark plaid and trim a close border
  • cut another of the darker plaids 2 X 3 1/4 and paste it on top of the lighter plaid, a little off center

IMG_2617 (1)

  • die cut the WINTER TREE ARCH 94735 from white card stock and set it aside

IMG_2617 (1)

  • die cut the SMALL POINSETTIA LAYERS 94756 multiple times from the floral paper that matches the base layer paper; assemble the flowers using glue dots

IMG_2620 (1)

  • assemble the card front by adding the layered paper panel--I oriented it so the larger white plaid space was on the right
  • add the Winter Tree Arch

IMG_2622 (1)

  • add the three small poinsettias and put tiny pearls in their centers

IMG_2623 (1)

  • choose one of the white MERRY CHRISTMAS FOIL GREETINGS WHITE TABS ST001 and glue it to the card front under the Winter Tree Arch

IMG_2627 (1)

And here's the finished card!  Go through your papers and pull at least four or five coordinating papers in any color combination that is pleasing to you.  Change up the card stock color of the Winter Tree Arch.   Move the small poinsettias around before gluing them down to see where you might like to place them.   And adding center gems in other colors to the small poinsettias can change the look of this design.  I love the Foil Greeting Tabs and have been using them on many of my cards this year.

Happy Crafting!  It's time to start getting those cards in the mail!!!

Dramatic Christmas Poinsettias
by Trina Pham

IMG_3754

Hello everyone.  I was working on another card featuring the Small Poinsettia Layers die from the current 2023 Christmas collection when my die cutting machine stopped working.  😣<grrr>  So I looked at what I had and this dramatic CAS (clean and simple) card resulted after seeing the new Black, White and Gold color challenge at AAA Cards.  Needless to say, this will be a very quick post. 😂

IMG_3755

The poinsettia layers and pine needle sprigs were die cut from white paper.   Each poinsettia is made up of three layers.  Used gold foil paper and a 1/4” circle punch for the centers.  The sentiment is the Merry Christmas Foil Greetings Black Tabs.  Assembled the card onto a black panel to finish.

IMG_3756

And that’s it!  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful week.

Birch Tree Forest, Birds and a Bear by Jean Okimoto

The new Birch Tree Forest 3D Embossing Folder sets the scene for a northwest bear sighting. Hi, Jean here with a woodsy winter design.  No polar bears here, but a big brown bear recently visited our neighbor, surprising his parents - and inspired today's card.

Cut heavy white cardstock with the largest A2 Rectangle Frames die.  Spritz a light mist of water onto both sides of the cardstock and emboss it with the Birch Tree Forest 3D Embossing Folder.  Dry it if it's still slightly damp, then prep it with the embossing powder tool.  Stencil it with the new Snow Flurries Stencil using a clean, well-inked VersaMark inkpad and a dauber or sponge.   Heat-emboss it with Imagine's Iridescent Embossing Powder,  like a scattering of sparkly snowflakes.  They're hard to see here, but they really do sparkle!  Attach it to a top-folded white A2 card.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to brown and bright red wool-blend felt.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from saturating it.

Cut the brown felt with the Layered Polar Bear's large outline die.  Cut the other sections from tan cardstock.  Attach a scrap of black cardstock behind his eyes and nose.  Use a brown marker to add a dot of ink to the felt diecut where the ear cutouts will appear.

Cut the Layered Birds from light kraft cardstock and red felt.

Cut the scarf - borrowed from the Bundled Bird die set - from the turquoise Rainbow Reflections 6x6.

MemoryBoxBirchTreeForest3DEmbossingFolder, MemoryBoxSnowFlurriesStencil, MemoryBoxA2RectangleFramesDieSet, MemoryBoxLayeredBirds, MemoryBoxLayeredPolarBear, MemoryBoxMerryChristmasFoilGreetibngsRoseTabs, MemoryBoxRainbowReflectionsMirrorPad, MemoryBoxBundledBird, JeanOkimoto, MemoryBoxCo, MemoryBoxDies, 3DEmbossingFolder, EmbossedCards, FeltDiecuts, HandmadeChristmasCards, Diecutting, CardmakingIdeas, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Attach the diecuts to the embossed background.  Add a a rich gold-embossed greeting from the new Merry Christmas Foil Greetings Rose Tabs.  Hope you can see the sparkly snowflakes here.

Thanks for visiting - see you next week!

Torn Teal Embossed Poinsettias
by Angie Cimbalo

Main wm

Hello and welcome!  It's Angie here today and I have a fun torn technique card for you today featuring the new beautiful "Perfect Poinsettia 3D Embossing Folder" that also comes with dies.  I didn't use the dies on this card but plan too for another card.  Here's a closer look at the card:

Close wm

I dry embossed both a teal and two white A2 panels and then on the teal one, I lightly tapped white ink on the raised areas.   Here's a super close look:

Super Close wm

Next I tore the top and bottom edges off the teal one and frayed the edges a little for a more distressed look.  I glued the teal one to the white one and then tore the top along the same angle.  I added a little teal ink on the white torn edge.  I didn't want the bottom white edge torn so I cut it higher than the teal one so you can see that layer on the bottom.

Next I glued the other white panel to the card front and then lined up the torn part so it was seamless despite the color difference.  I added gold paint pen to the flower centers and around the teal panel.   To finish it, I added a white sentiment tab and then rounded some of the corners of my finished card.  Here's one last look:

3 wm

I hope you like my card for today!  It's a simple technique and a great way to stretch the looks you can get from an embossing folder.  Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!

Glorious Poinsettia Merry Christmas
by Anne Thompson

I promised to change up colors for November so I'm going with a traditional red and green focus for the next few posts.  Todays' card features the Glorious Poinsettia die.

IMG_2457 (1)

materials used

to make this card

  • cover the front of a white note card with one of the poinsettia papers from the POINSETTIA GARLAND PP1024 paper pad

IMG_2456 (1)

  • add a small rectangle cut from dark green card stock to the front of the card--you'll want the flower and leaves to extend a bit beyond it
  • die cut the GLORIOUS POINSETTIA 94734 three times--from white card stock, from one of the mostly green papers and from one of the mostly red papers in the GARLAND PP1010 paper pad

IMG_2461 (1)

  • glue the white stem and leaves to the green rectangle on the card front
  • glue the green stem and leaves on top of the white ones, exposing a bit of the white along one edge on each piece
  • glue the red pieces of the poinsettia on top of the white ones, exposing a bit of the white along one edge on each piece
  • assemble the flower using glue dots
  • glue the poinsettia onto the card front at the top of the stem
  • add gold Fairy Jewels to the poinsettia center

IMG_2458 (1)

  • add one of the "Merry Christmas" Foil Greetings White Tabs to the bottom right corner of the green panel

IMG_2459 (1)

The thin white edge helps to define the stem, leaves, and poinsettia blossom against both the solid dark green card stock and the busy poinsettia print background.

This will be a busy card-making week as I prepare samples and class kits for a class I'm teaching next week at the local senior center.  Hope you're getting a good start on your holiday cards.  There are so many products in the 2023 Christmas Collection to choose from!

Happy Crafting!
