Porthole Sunset Birthday
by Trina Pham

2D4D669F-E617-446D-B581-BB01088CD88A

Hello everyone.  Have you had a chance to check out the new Under the Sea collection released yesterday?  Like the Spring collection, it’s amazing!  And it looks like I’m ready for summer with this sunset scene birthday card I’m sharing today.

Started by die cutting the porthole twice from thick white cardstock and once from silver Polished Foil paper with the new Ocean Porthole die and stacked them for dimension.  Next, a circle panel from mixed media paper and a sun mask from masking paper were die cut out using dies from Circle Basics.  Masked then ink blended Squeezed Lemonade, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Black Soot distress ink (DI) on the circle panel to create the sunset background.  I did the sky first.  Added water ripples with a white gel pen to complete it.

The pelican from the new Graceful Ocean Birds and the log from the new Wood Grain Planks (couldn’t capture the woodgrain detail in the photo but it’s there) were die cut from black cardstock.  Assembled the card onto a Mixed Media panel that had been dry embossed with the new gorgeous Waves 3D embossing folder (EF).  Love this EF btw!

To finish, white heat embossed the sentiment from Birthday Blowout by Poppy Stamps on a strip of Bristol paper, then ombré colored it with the same DI as the sunset.  And that was it.  Thank you for joining me.  Have a wonderful day.

UNDER THE SEA new release Today!
by Anne Thompson

Hooray!!!  Today is the day that we can begin to share projects made with the newest Memory Box release.  UNDER THE SEA is the theme and you are going to LOVE everything about this collection!  I immediately fell in love with the jellyfish so you will see them featured on the cards I made for today.

IMG_3100-ink

There are three layers I added to each white notecard--embossed waves, a kelp collage, and two jellyfish.

For the WAVES layer...

IMG_3103-ink

The first layer features the new embossing folder WAVES EF1013.  For the card on the left I used a lovely blue paper from the FRESH AQUA COLLECTION SP1004 which I trimmed to 5 1/4 X 4.  For the card on the right I used one of the blue plaids from MADRAS PLAID BLUE AND VIOLET PP1014 and trimmed the paper to cover the entire front of the notecard.

For the KELP COLLAGE layer...

IMG_3105-ink

I cut the KELP COLLAGE 94561 from coordinating blue plaids from the Madras papers, trimmed them down a bit, and added them over the waves using Scor-Tape.

For the JELLYFISH layer...

IMG_3102-ink

I made lots of jellyfish using the GRACEFUL JELLYFISH die 94574, cutting  them first from a variety of blue plaids from the Madras Plaid papers and then from several blue papers in the TWINKLING JEWEL GLITTER PAD GP1003.  I cut their "caps" from several blue foil papers in the POLISHED FOIL PAD FP1001 which I attached with Scor-Tape.  I selected two for each card securing them with foam dots and weaving their tendrils among the kelp fronds.

Here's another look at the two cards:

IMG_3100-ink

And then for something in another colorway...

IMG_3106-ink

I think there will be jellyfish popping up on a lot of my summer cards!

I can't wait to see what others on the Design Team share in the coming days!  Happy Crafting!

Retro Birthday
by Trina Pham

DF529AE3-9411-44FE-B125-79FD3E91407B

Happy Wednesday everyone.  Had more fun stretching the Nested Globes dies again and made a retro masculine slimline birthday card to share today.  Besides mailboxes and tall rainbows, I also saw jukeboxes when I first saw these dies! 😁

The jukebox base is done the same as the mailboxes in this post HERE.  The overall size of the jukebox is 3”x 4.75” and I used the darkest blue color from the Ocean Blue paper pack.   From there, I used the same steps for the tall rainbow in this post HERE, and trimmed / die cut / partial die cut from alcohol marker-friendly cardstock accordingly to build the jukebox.  Colored the green and aqua parts with Copic markers YG00, YG01, YG03, BG10, BG11, BG13.  Used Circle Basics, Square Basics, Vintage Sled and Double Diamond Lattice Plate (from Poppy Stamps) dies to die cut from Silver Polished Foil to accent and decorate.  Oh and of course the record was die cut from black cardstock.

723BAFA8-8104-4265-A197-8161BC8B6BB8

Next, a Bristol slimline panel was die cut with the second largest Slim Basic Rectangle die.  Masked near the bottom and applied Black Soot distress ink (DI) to create the floor area.  The Vintage Varsity Alphabet letters were die cut also from Bristol paper, ombré colored with Blueprint Sketch DI using a blending brush, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder to give them some shine.  The rest of the sentiments from Birthday Rose Corner was white heat embossed on the same darkest blue paper as the jukebox.

05700AC4-FF45-450A-9146-E64B7C5FC429

Adhered the panel to a 3.5”x 8.5” white card base, then drew in the music notes with a black marker and added highlights with a white pencil to the black record to finish.  Thank you for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Nested Globes + Seed Stems/Layered Daisies + Glade Butterfly = 2 Just a Note Cards
by Anne Thompson

I ended up with two Just a Note cards for this post that each began with plaid papers and Nested Globes cut from watercolored papers, plaid papers, foil papers, and glitter papers and accented with Glade Butterflies and Seed Stems or Layered Daisies.

IMG_3090-ink

Without a design in mind for a finished card, I started with two pieces of Memory Box Open Studio WATERCOLOR PAPER WP101 and watercolor pencils in shades of green and blue.  I oriented one paper vertically and the other horizontally, painting blue "sky" and green "grass".  Using the set of NESTED GLOBES 94532 I cut globes of different sizes from each of those papers.

My next step was to cut more globes in a variety of sizes from a variety of papers--a blue/green plaid from MADRAS PLAID BLUE AND VIOLET PP1014, blue foil from POLISHED FOIL PAD FP1001, light green glitter paper from GRACEFUL GARDEN GLITTER PAD GP1002, and bright blue glitter paper from TWINKLING JEWEL GLITTER PAD GP1003.

I then cut one of the small SEED STEMS 94534 from a scrap of the paper I had watercolored and two more from some scrap plaid paper.  I cut the detailed GLADE BUTTERFLY 94578 from another watercolor leftover piece and from some of the light green glitter paper and cut the solid one from blue foil paper. And I made several of the LAYERED DAISIES 94472 from plaid paper scraps.

Then I was ready to start to put a card or two together from the bits I had assembled in a pile on my work table.

Card One

IMG_3089-ink

  • For this card I started with a white notecard and covered the front with a piece of plaid paper.
  • Then I added these paper layers--a large globe from my vertical watercolored paper, a smaller blue foil globe, a smaller plaid globe, and an even smaller globe from my horizontal watercolored paper.
  • Next I added the Seed Stems, gluing down just the stems with colored gems in the seedy centers.
  • I used a Glue Dot to secure the detailed painted butterfly to the foil one underneath and added a gem to its center.  I used another Glue Dot to attach it to the card.
  • I die cut the base for JUST A NOTE POSH SCRIPT 94527 from more of the blue foil and the detailed lettering from a plaid paper scrap.

IMG_3092-ink (1)
IMG_3092-ink (1)

Card Two

IMG_3088-ink

  • Again I started with a white notecard and covered the front with plaid paper.
  • I chose two of the large glitter paper globes, one light green and one blue, and inverted them before stacking them on the front of the card, using Scor-Tape to secure them in place.
  • I added two of the LAYERED DAISIES 94472 on the left edge of the blue globe and adhered blue plaid gems in their centers.
  • I used a Glue Dot to attach the Glade Butterfly and put a blue gem on its body and pulled the wings up a bit for added dimension.
  • I cut the base for Just a Note from a scrap of the green glitter paper and the detailed words from a scrap of the card background plaid paper.

IMG_3097-ink
IMG_3097-ink

This was very much a "let's see what I can make from this pile of stuff" process of card-making.  Starting out I knew I wanted to watercolor with my watercolor pencils and I wanted to do something with the Nested Globes, but I did not have a clear vision beyond that.  And in the end I really like these cards.  The foil paper and gems on the first card and the glitter paper on the second really pop.  Do you always start with a clear idea in mind or do you collect a bunch of stuff and see what happens?

Happy Crafting!

Handmade Easter Baskets with Video
by Sara Cook

Hello everyone. I have an Easter basket project today using the Spring Plaid Slim line paper pack.  This is an easy and fun project you can your kids can do together.  Check out the YouTube tutorial, link below.

26FDE6A4-B611-47C7-B399-AF6E53310469_1_201_a

Basket:

Cut 2 pieces of matching slim line papers to 8 1/4" in length, removing the hole. Choose what side is inside of the basket and what is the outside.  Score 1/4" along the top of the inside of the paper and score at 4 1/4".  Turn paper and score 1/4" from edge of paper down the longest side at 3 1/4"..  Score the 2nd paper the same way. Fold along the score lines.  This will create 1/4" flaps along top and along 1 side of the paper.  Cut the corners of the each flap.  Then cut the long flap at the 4 1/4" score only up to the flap.  Cut the corners on each flap.  Glue the short flaps and adhere to the other side of the  paper to form a box.  Cut a base out of matching paper to 4"x4".  Add glue to the flaps from inside of the box and put the 4"x4" paper over the glued flaps.  To make the handle cut a strip of paper 11"x1".  Shape to form a curve.  Add glue to bottom 1/2" end of the strip and adhere to inside of the box.  Add glue to the other end and adhere to the other side of the box.

Now for the fun part, decorating!  This is where you use your creativity to embellish the basket how you want. Below are some ideas to get you started.

I used Wild Glass Boarder die to make a a grassy board around a basket.  Added eggs die cute out of Delicate Pastel Glitter paper using the Half Dozen Eggs die and and bunny die cut out of white paper using the Gentle Bunny Die.

2BF3914C-E2E2-42A3-9B14-A23A8412E4F7_1_201_a

I die cut the smaller flower of the Layered Cosmos craft die out of white paper and colored it with Pan Pastels.  Each flower used 3 layers of flowers.  Added a matching butterfly using the Glade Butterfly die.  Colored the base using Copic markers.  Cut out the top layer out of gold paper from the Polished Foil pad and glued it on top.   Arrange the elements on the basket.

Now fill with your favorite Easter candy.  My basket will be filled with chocolate.

Lemon-yellow Gerber blossoms bloom along a bright pastel Crystal Border in mix of angles+curves, brights+white, glitter+foil...all on a short slimline card!  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a design ready to welcome Spring.

MemoryBoxCrystalBorder, MemoryBoxGerberStems, MemoryBoxFrostedGlitterPad, MemoryBoxLushGreenCollection, MemoryBoxPolishedFoilPad, PoppystampsDiamondSentimentsClearStampAndDieSet, FlowerDiecuts, PaperPiecing, GlitteredDiecuts, InkBlending, JeanOkimoto, DiecutBorders, VersaFineClair, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, StampsAndMemoriesHawaii

Cut a 6-¼" x 7-½" sheet of white cardstock.   Score it (horizontally) at ¾" and 4-¼".  Cut Crystal Border about ¾" to the right of the ¾" scoreline.  We're using just the cutout here. Cut a 3-½" x 6-¼" piece of smooth white cardstock.  Attach it to the ¾" tab to create the back of the card.

Cut Crystal Border again from the gold sheet in the 6x6 Polished Foil pad - we're using the delicate cutout.

Cut Crystal Border again from smooth white cardstock covered with blended inks in shades of pink, peach, teal, yellow and green - remove the delicate outline but keep the diecut pieces in the die for easy re-assembly later.  My inked paper stash somehow included at sheet of blended inks with sections that matched the pattern of the Crystal Border - it was a lucky day.

Attach a wide strip of lined doublestick tape behind the Crystal Border cutout - the adhesive will be visible in the cutout on the card front.  Save the paper tape liner.

Press the delicate gold Crystal Border onto the exposed adhesive in the cutout. Press it with the paper tape liner.

Attach the little pieces to the adhesive in each section - then press everything with the saved paper tape liner.

Cut just the tops of the Gerber Stems from the yellow 6x6 sheet in the Frosted Glitter Pad.  Cut the whole Gerber stems and small leafy stem from a green sheet in the Lush Green Collection.  Attach the yellow flower tops to the green flowers, slightly offset.  Attach the flowers to the card, then add the small leafy stem.

Stamp the greeting - from the new Poppystamps Diamond Sentiments Clear Stamp and Die Set - on white cardstock with Shady Lane VersaFine Clair.  Dry the ink and punch or cut a 1-¼" circle.  Cut another 1-¼" circle from a scrap of the inked paper and attach it - slightly offset - behind the greeting circle to add dimension.

Add ¼" dots punched from the chartreuse sheet in the Frosted Glitter Pad.

Our latest Collection's floral dies can be used in so many ways...diecut your favorite flowers, add colors, and arrange them on Spring cards for quick greetings.

Thanks for visiting  - have a great weekend!

Tall Rainbow
by Trina Pham

27409A31-FC1C-49F7-ABB6-691E11CEC9A4

Hello everyone.  I’m playing with the Nested Globes dies from the Spring collection again and stretching them to make a tall rainbow.

I started by picking out the papers from the various 6x6 paper packs (see supply list below).  I skipped the two largest dies and used the remainder for a five arch rainbow.  The papers were trimmed to the width of the corresponding dies.  The dome shape was partial die cut on one end, then the next smaller die one size down was used to cut out the arch, shifting and die cutting down the length of the paper.  I did partial die cutting when possible to not waste the beautiful paper.

FA8B28EF-2036-4202-9A98-84011E2029B7

The clouds and Pinpoint Burst background were die cut from Bristol paper.  The rainbow was also adhered to a Bristol panel that was die cut to the largest 3” globe shape. .

93E7827B-5AC7-44F7-BA2D-4AF27381BA5D

The sentiment from Joyful Moments was white heat embossed on black cardstock and fussy cut out.  Assembled the card on a white top folding card base to finish.

99E8739F-813F-48AE-9635-215252C93EA1

So in honor of St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow and inspired by some challenges, I made a fun unconventional one. 😂

7984D1B7-B12D-4C02-B2E0-D095F64A84BA

To get the wider rainbow arches, the die two size smaller was used instead.

And that is all for today.  Thank you for joining me.  Have a wonderful day!

The 108 shades of our 9 new color collections are perfect for ombre designs. Five shades from the Vibrant Violet Collection are used here with the new Crystal Border and Wildflower Stems set. Coordinated colors eliminate the guesswork and searching for the right shades.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with an example of how easy it is to create an ombre-ed background or border with our new 6x6 color sets.

MemoryBoxSlimBasicRectangleLayers, MemoryBoxCrystalBorder, MemoryBoxWildflowerStems, MemoryBoxVibrantViolet6x6, MemoryBoxLushGreen6x6, MemoryBoxGracefulGardenGlitterPad, MemoryBoxPolishedFoil6x6Pad, MemoryBoxDies, MemoryBoxDiecuts, FlowerDiecuts, BorderDiecuts, GlitteredDiecuts, SlimlineCards, JeanOkimoto, OmbreDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, StampsAndMemoriesHawaii, HandmadeCards

Cut white cardstock with the 7-¼" x 2-¼" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Prep the Crystal Border by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help release the little pieces.  Cut the rectangle with the Crystal Border - we're using just the white offcut here.

Cut the silver sheet from the Polished Foil Pad with the Crystal Border.

MemoryBoxSlimBasicRectangleLayers, MemoryBoxCrystalBorder, MemoryBoxWildflowerStems, MemoryBoxVibrantViolet6x6, MemoryBoxLushGreen6x6, MemoryBoxGracefulGardenGlitterPad, MemoryBoxPolishedFoil6x6Pad, MemoryBoxDies, MemoryBoxDiecuts, FlowerDiecuts, BorderDiecuts, GlitteredDiecuts, SlimlineCards, JeanOkimoto, OmbreDiecuts, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, StampsAndMemoriesHawaii, HandmadeCards

Cut 1-⅛" x 6" strips of 5 colors from the Vibrant Violet Collection.  Tape them together to create a 5-⅝" strip.  Cut a 1-½" wide strip of the taped colors.  Attach it behind the white offcut. A few of the sections have two colors. You could re-cut those pieces with one color...but why?

Insert and attach the silver foil Crystal Border - I used a skewer to place tiny dots of Tacky Glue at the corners, intersections and at several spots along the long straight edge.

Cut a ¾" x 6" long strip matching the 4th color from the top of the ombre strip.  Attach the rectangle and strip to a white slimline card (3-½" x 8-½").

Cut the top of the large Wildflower Stems blossom from the pale pink/lavender Graceful Garden Glitter Pad sheet.  Cut 3 of the smaller blossom - remove the 4th (right) section from one of them to create a smaller bud.  Cut the stem from the green sheet in the Lush Green Collection.

Attach the stem to the rectangle then layer the glittered blossom sections over the top of the stems.  Add ¼" dots punched from the green sheet in the Graceful Garden Glitter Pad.

Hope you like this 'inkless ombre' idea!  Thanks for visiting...see you again this weekend...

Dies and papers from the Spring Collection make it easy to create fresh cards for every occasion.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with another flowers+plaid idea.  The colors Dave chose for the Spring Plaid, Madras Plaid Coral+Green and Madras Plaid Blue+Violet offer so many design options for spring and summer projects.

MemoryBoxMadrasPlaidCoralAndGreen, MemoryBoxSlimBasicRectangleLayers, JeanOkimoto, PlaidCards, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

To remove the green plaid sheet carefully from the pack...place the open pack on a hard surface and press firmly along the center line to loosen the sheet,  then carefully pull it out.  The 6-⅜" x 1-⅜" die from the new Slim Basic Rectangle Layers fits perfectly if you include the extra length at the top.

Cut the green sheet from the 6x6 Lush Green Collection with the narrowest Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangles die.

Cut two sets of Layered Fresh Flowers from the two shades of the darkest yellow sheets in the 6x6 Sunny Orange Collection. Cut two of the  starburst-style centers from the gold 6x6 Polished Foil pack sheet.

Cut a 1" x 4-½" strip of the yellow Frosted Glitter Pad sheet.

Stamp the greeting - from the new Joyful Moments Clear Stamp Set - on white cardstock with Shady Lane VersaFine Clair.  Dry the ink and cut it with the 1-¾" Circle Basics die.  Cut a green circle for an offset layer behind the greeting.

Attach everything to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½").  Punch ¼" circles of the green Frosted Glitter Pad sheet.

Thanks for all of your Instagram likes and comments for the coral plaid and Seed Stems version of this basic design.  Mix and match - or contrast - the different colors and plaids in our Spring Collection with the new floral dies.  Add the sparkle of glitter and shimmery Polished Foil highlights too!

Spring Slimline Card
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_2311

Good morning everyone! Today I have a Spring themed slimline card for you. I used  products from the new 2021 Spring Release to create this card.

I began by die cutting one of the Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangles from white cardstock. Next, I placed painters tape on the long sides of the die cut to create a 1/4" border on the rectangle. I used Distress Oxide Ink to make a blended background on the rectangle and spattered the background with plain water before I removed the tape. The Distress Oxide colors I used were Dried Marigold, Ripe Persimmon, and Picked Raspberry.

Once the background was dry I stamped and gold heat embossed the sentiment.

IMG_2309

Next I stamped and Gold heat embossed the flowers and painted them with same Distress Oxide colors I used for the background. I used the coordinating die to cut the flowers. I also trimmed a few leaves off the bottom of the stamped image to fit my card design.  Next, I die cut the small Crystal Frame twice from gold foil paper and cut the die cuts in half to fit behind the stamped image.

IMG_2310

I glued the foil die cuts to the card and used foam tape to adhere the flowers.

Next, I used foam tape to adhere the background to a white card base. That's it!

I hope you enjoyed today's card and have a great weekend!
