The Little Bunny Trio, Adriana Pop Up Easel Set and a Cottage Meadow 6x6 print create an Easter scene in bright spring pastels.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with another pop up easel  design - using the new Adriana Set in its original vertical, delicately diecut format.

Cut the detailed botanical layer and its solid background from medium green cardstock.  Cut the larger card base from  slightly darker green cardstock.  Fold the little tab backwards and attach a strip of Scor-Tape to the top of the tab.  Attach the lighter green layers to the tab.

Cut the 2" tall egg - from the Half a Dozen Eggs set - from the pink floral Cottage Meadow 6x6.  Cut Little Bunny Trio from the white Delicate Pastel Glitter 6x6.  Cut the trio again from watercolor paper.  Attach the watercolor paper bunnies behind the glittered bunnies for dimension.

Prep the inside of the card with the embossing powder tool.  Stamp the greeting - from the Big and Little Spring Clear Stamps Set - with VersaMark.  Emboss it with Iridescent Opaque Mboss Powder from Imagine Crafts.

The Adriana set includes dies to cut decorative "stoppers" to keep the cards standing vertically instead of flopping down.  Cut two of the smallest stopper, layer them for dimension and attach them inside the card.

Hope you'll experiment with different ways of using the versatile Adriana Pop Up Easel Set - with a large flower or heart,  butterflies, a simple greeting or quote.  It could also frame a a photo or display a small calendar.

Big thanks to everyone from last Saturday's SIMPLY ASIAN class at Impress!  Hope you liked the origami fish and the contemporary cards we created.  Special thanks to Jenny for her tasty popcorn assortment - and for thoughtfully providing individual bowls for everyone!   Thanks too - Ann, Erin and Lynne - for helping us fill those shopping baskets again!

Wild Rose Stem Stamps & Dies
by Vicki Finger

Welcome to the blog!  Vicki here with you today!  I am featuring the newly released Wild Rose Stem Stamps and Dies.  I love wild roses although, in reality, they are a pale pink or rose color.  The great thing about what we do is we can make them any color we want.  The beauty of Art - every kind of art.

This color wasn't my intent when I started but it kind of snowballed into this.  My primary objective was just some pale pink.  I recently signed up for a watercolor class.  I haven't started my homework or classwork yet, but I've been "collecting" tubes of Daniel Smith Watercolors a couple at a time over the last year or so, and I have about 26 colors right now.  They have over 300 colors, so I am just getting some basics and some neutrals and will mix colors.  I have two or three of each color family plus a neutral, a neutral buff, and a couple of greys.  I'm also learning how to mix colors as part of a Facebook Group I'm in.  So this kind of started as one project and turned into class practice only a couple of layers of color into it. I switched from Watercolor Pencils to Daniel Smith Watercolors after that.

I used a little Sap Green on the leaves but my focus today was on the petals and getting a much better look than I have previously.  I'm very happy with this first attempt although I can see many things I will do differently next time.  This is a great image for practice as the petals are large and you can create your custom color and add depth to bring the image to life with depth.  Each time is a little bit of a learning experience and things to do differently next time, like adding deeper shadow layers on my next try.  There's also a lot to be said for walking away to let that layer fully dry because it does look so different after it dries.  I used Quinacridone Purple and Quinacridone Pink for the petals.  Today's focus for me was learning to scrub out a little color and add depth a little bit at a time with a complimentary or neutral color.  I could have increased the depth!

I love the look of watercolor and I really want to get better at it doing it so, I've been "collecting" information, thoughts, and experiences of friends who are successful in this endeavor.  This is my first try at this particular method and I am so excited to do more.  For the little stamen on the wild roses, I used Plum Shimmer Fairy Sugar (a new product) to make the deep purple dots.

After I watercolored the blooms, I die cut it with the coordinating die and grabbed the new Springtime Bouquet Patterned Paper Pad to decide which paper I wanted to use to put my card together.  I'm a sucker for stripes, especially this more narrow version, and the lovely pastel colors make me think of Spring which is hopefully right around the corner here in North Texas.  I used a piece of Winter Wisteria Cardstock to die cut one of the Matinee Rectangles to use as a label.  I also really love the font and style of this Poppy Stamps Sentiment Stamps Set called "Springtime Fun".  Poppy Stamps is also a Memory Box Company.  I love elegant and this font suits me to a "T"!

As usual, I heat embossed my image and my sentiment with Versamark and Antique Gold Embossing Powder from Simon Says Stamp.  Using a blending brush, I went all around the outside edges with the matching ink to darken the edges.  I just love how this card turned out and how much my watercolor improved.

I still enjoy learning and trying new techniques to share with you all as much as possible. If you are interested in the class, there's a link over at my blog.

Got Eggs? Springtime Bouquet 6x6 Pack, Adriana Pop Up Easel Set by Jean Okimoto

The Poppystamps Adriana Pop Up Easel Set - turned sideways - sets the scene for Easter with the new Springtime Bouquet 6x6 Pack of beautiful pastel prints.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a card that went thru quite a transformation from Dave's original design.  I love sharing different ways to use our products - and unlike the usual infomercial disclaimers...DO try this at home!

MemoryBoxDeliatePastelGlitterPad, MemoryBoxSpringtimeBouquet6x6, MemoryBoxWildGrassBorder, MemoryBoxBigAndLittleSpringClearStamps, MemoryBoxGentleBunny, MemoryBoxSmallClutchOfEggs, MemoryBoxLittleBunnyTrio, MemoryBoxClutchOfEggs, PoppystampsAdrianaPopUpEaselSet, JeanOkimoto, EasterDiecuts, SpringDiecuts, PopUpEaselCards, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

The Adriana Pop Up Easel Set is designed to create a vertical easel card. There are even pieces for little "stoppers" to keep the upright card from flopping down.  I've used it horizontally - and replaced the beautiful botanical diecut with a garden print from the Springtime Bouquet 6x6 set.

Cut the large card base from white cardstock.  Crease the tab towards the backside of the diecut.

P1140175

Attach Scor-tape to the tab.  Cut the green 6x6 print with the background die, attach it to the card base using the tape on the tab.  Cut the new Wild Grass Border from green cardstock - trim the bottom edge with the Adriana background die.

We have two egg sets with small eggs to fit the grassy border.  I've used the Clutch of Eggs set - cut 5 of the smaller eggs from the white glitter cardstock in the Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad.  Color them with Sharpies or Copics.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to white felt and cut Gentle Bunny (and his tail) and Little Bunny Trio.  We're just using the two larger bunnies from the trio.  Cut felt tails for the other bunnies using a leather punch.  Attach the bunnies and eggs to the background.

Stamp the greeting - from the new Open Studio Big and Little Spring Clear Stamps Set - on white cardstock with Pearlescent Lavender Brilliance.  Attach the greeting - at an angle - with foam tape.

Hope you'll try different designs with the versatile Adriana Pop Up Easel Set!

If you're in the Seattle Area - join us for another SIMPLY ASIAN class at Impress on March 7th.  A simple origami fish, cherry blossoms, wide washi tape, new and old favorites, art papers - there are so many ways to combine Asian  and almost-Asian designs.

Memory Box Spring 2020 Release
by Vicki Finger

Hello everyone and welcome back to the Memory Box Blog Blitz!  I took a short vacation at the beginning of the month but now I'm back and have several new projects to share with you today.  Memory Box has just released its Spring 2020 Catalog and there are lots of fun new things in this collection of products, including Patterned Paper, Glitter Cardstock, Stencils, Washi Tapes, Glitter Glue (called Fairy Sugar), and some new 3D Embossing Folders.

I was having a hard time deciding what to feature first so I have a few projects for you today!  I also have a chance to win a giveaway for you as thanks for stopping by and seeing my projects over at my blog, Twinkling Paper Studio.  One commenter will receive a free Arched Happy Easter Die # 94446 from Memory Box!

We also have Glitter Cardstock 6 x 6 Pads in Pastels and Brights!  The paler colors are called Delicate Pastels and the brights are called Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad.  I'm sure you know I had to have the one with the word "Twinkling" in the name.

There are also some new Washi Tapes in wide and narrow widths.  The one I'm featuring here is the Watercolor Forest Greenery Wide Washi Tape.  It's similar in style to the Watercolor Woodland Washi Tape from our 2019 Winter Collection.  I thought it would be fun to combine with some little bunnies, Spring florals, and Fairy Sugar Glitter Glue.

I added the wide Washi Tape to a piece of white cardstock and then die cut it with the Matinee Rectangle Layers in the largest size.  Then using a little finger dauber, I added some color to the Magnolia Circle Frame and the Pretty Blossom Stem.  Next, I added some Fairy Sugar to the leaves and blooms.

Once that was dry, I added some pearls to the center of the blooms and some inking to the outside edges of the Little Bunny Trio.  I added a black dot with a tiny white highlight for the eye on each little bunny.  Once I attached the Matinee Rectangle, I added some additional Fairy Sugar in Iris and Strawberry Ice to the berries in the washi tape for texture and bling.

My next card also uses the Matinee Rectangle Layers.  I die cut the 2nd from largest one from white cardstock covered with the Washi Tape and the largest was cut from some pale pink cardstock.  This helps the soft colors in the washi tape to really pop and accent my die cuts.  I used Fairy Sugar in Strawberry Ice, Iris and Berry Mist.  I also used the "Hello" Banner Script die from last month's release to make a simple spring card.

For my next card,  I used one of the Cottage Meadow Patterned Papers.  Each of these designs has a full floral pattern on one side of the paper and a corner design on the other side of the paper.  These designs remind me very much of something Annie Rifle might create for Rifle Paper Company. I really love having a choice of using the full sheet of print or the corner design.

For my card, I chose to use a corner design that I thought would fit well with my die choices.  I chose the Cherry Blossom Frame along with the Arched Happy Easter, and the Flitter Side Butterfly.

This card is sweet and simple, and to me, it instantly evokes the feeling of spring.  The top layer of all the die cuts are made from the new Watercolor Paper and I colored it with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers in Sugared Almond Pink and Green Shadow.

I added Fairy Sugar Glitter Glue in Iris to the flower centers on the patterned paper and added some gems to the center of the flowers on the die-cut.

I used Rectangle Basics Die in the largest size to cut the green glittered background.  I added some of the Birchpress Design Shimmer Burst Washi Tape to colored cardstock.  I also cut 1 each of the Genoese, Emmaline and Lacework Eggs from Gold Foiled Cardstock that had Couture Creations Double Sided Adhesive on the backside.

This card features several new Easter Egg dies with some of the new Glittered Cardstock.   Aren't Filagree Easter Eggs just so pretty and elegant?  They remind me of Fabergé Eggs. If you don't know what those are, here's a search on Pinterest to see some fabulous examples.  If you're interested in more of the history of the House of Fabergé, you can find information here on Wikipedia.

Next, I ran the colored, washi-taped cardstock through with my die cutting machine with an embossing sandwich to get the impression of the egg which makes fussy cutting around it very easy.  You could also do Die Cut In-lay if you like that style.  That would have taken a lot more time than what I felt I had available today so that I can show you as many of the new products as I can.

The Gilded Washi Tape, the Gold Foiled Cardstock and the glitter cardstock all work together to make a fun and sparkly card for Easter.

By dry embossing the eggs onto the cardstock, it gives the look of inlay without the time it would take to do that and also provides the outline for the egg shape for quick and easy fussy cutting of a simple shape.

I had to sneak one more card in here at the very end that features one of the new stencils, Leafy Jumble.  I was planning to foil it, but I couldn't find my jar of Deco Foil Transfer Gel (until the card was finished, of course), so I ended up using Ink Blending to add the pattern to the cardstock in Turquoise Sea and Tranquil Teal.

I first added some Pixie Spray to the back of the stencil and let that dry for a few minutes.  This allows the repositionable adhesive to "set" so that you can use it over and over without having to add more. It also holds your stencil in place without moving so that your pattern stays clean and crisp.

Once that was done, I used the Basic Rectangles to cut a mat layer, a glitter layer and then a top layer for my card from the ink blended piece.  I die cut the Side Butterfly Circle from white cardstock 3 times and glued the layers together. I cut the interior part of the butterfly from cardstock scraps and the outlines of the butterflies from Gold Foiled Cardstock. I also cut the Flitter Side Butterfly using the same papers so that I could have two butterflies facing each other.  Once I had those adhered, I added Spectrum Noir Shimmer Pen to the insides of the wings for that touch of sparkle that I love.

There are many more new products available at Memory Box and it's other companies, Poppy Stamps and Birch Press Design.   Be sure to stop over at the Memory Box Blog, Outside the Box, and take a look at all of the new items that were just released.  I'll have a couple more projects for you next week.  Don't forget to leave a comment here on my blog for your chance to win the Arched Happy Easter Die.

Emboss the entire Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Out set and create a soft, poufy background for the Scribble Rose Trio. Glitter the roses and add a greeting from the Big and Little Words Clear Stamp Set - that's it!

Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a design that can be a Valentine...or not.  We love the latest collection for more than just Valentine projects.  The dies, stamps and embossing folder are so versatile you'll reach for them throughout the year for weddings, birthdays, thank-yous and cards of encouragement.

MemoryBoxDoubleStitchHappyHeartCutOut, MemoryBoxScribbleRoseTrio, MemoryBoxRectangleBasics, MemoryBoxBigAndLittleWordsClearStamps, EmbossingWithDies, DiecutRoses, JeanOkimoto, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, ImagineCrafts

Cut Coral Creme cardstock  (textured-side-up) with the 4" x 5-¼" Rectangle Basics die.  Trim the corners with a corner-rounding punch.  Tape the four Double Stitch Happy Heart Cut Out dies to the rectangle.  Attach the tape near the left edge of the rectangle where it'll be covered by the flowers later - removing the tape might damage the cardstock.  Pressure-emboss the hearts.

Attach ScorTape or Couture Creations tape to the top of Arroyo cardstock and diecut the solid blossoms from the Scribble Rose Trio.  Cut detailed Scribble Rose Trio from Flintstone cardstock.  Attach the detailed diecut to the tape-covered solid blossoms.  Brush iridescent glitter over the remaining exposed adhesive to create a trio of sparkly roses.

Stamp the frame - from the Big and Little Words set - on the smoother side of Coral Creme cardstock with Rocket Red Gold Brilliance.  Stamp the greeting in the frame.  Dry the ink, then trim the cardstock and round the corners.

Score, cut and fold a natural white A6 card.  Attach the diecuts to the card - attach the greeting with foam tape.  Add three peach-colored gem stickers.

Attach a pair of the new Banded Heart Lockets to the Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Outs on a Valentine for your special guy.  Cool, masculine grays and bright reds create a crisp contrast on today's card.

Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a simple design to start the workweek.  Change the colors and make it a shower, wedding or anniversary card too!

MemoryBoxLoveAiryScript, MemoryBoxDoubleStitchLovingHeartCutOut, MemoryBoxBandedHeartLocket, MemoryBoxBigAndLittleValentinesClearStamps, MemoryBoxDashingHoliday6x6Set, MemoryBoxDashingStripsAndDots6x6Set, JeanOkimoto, VersaFineClair, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, ValentineDiecuts, WordDiecuts, WideWashiTape, HeartDiecuts

Cut Banded Heart Locket from gray and white cardstock.  Cut two hearts with the Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out dies - 2.2" wide from red glittered cardstock and 3.1" wide from the Poppystamps Snowspeckle Wide Washi Tape attached to gray cardstock.  It's the perfect washi tape for snow,  confetti or white splattered dots - whatever you need!

Punch a ⅛" hole near the top of the large heart.  Attach the glittered heart to the large heart with doublestick tape.  Attach the white and gray Banded Heart Lockets with gold cord.  Curl the cord.

Pressure-emboss a folded white A-6 card (4-½" x 6-¼") with the 3.1" Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out.  It creates an outline on the front of the card - and frames the greeting on the inside.  Stamp "xoxo" - from the Big and Little Valentines Clear Stamps - with Tulip Red VersaFine Clair in the embossed heart inside the card.

Cut accent strips - ¾" x 3-½" of the gray plaid from the Dashing Holiday 6x6 set, ¾" x 4" of gray cardstock and ¾" x 3-¼" of the dark gray stripes from the Dashing Stripes and Dots 6x6 set.  Attach the hearts and strips to a white A-6 (4-½" x6-¼") card.

Here's an easy way to prep a self-adhesive greeting.  Diecut Love Airy Script from red cardstock - don't remove the diecut or the offcut.  Place three strips of ⅛" ScorTape or Couture Creations tape horizontally across the back of the diecut.   Run it through the machine again to cut the tape - leave it in the die again.  Flip it over onto the card and use a pokey tool to push the self-adhesive greeting onto the card.  The double cutting process makes it easier to cut completely thru the tape and its liner.  Pressing the delicate greeting directly onto the card keeps it intact, without any distortion or wonkiness.

The new 3D Heart Bouquet Embossing Folder adds texture, dimension and a great backdrop for the Scribble Rose Trio and Tall Sketch Heart.  There's a lot happening on this card - let the pink, gray and white balance the mixture of textures.

Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a soft, subtle design for Valentine's Day. Switch the greeting and it's ready for weddings, baby cards or a thinking-of-you message.

Cut a 4-¼" x 5-½" rectangle of watercolor paper.  Give it a light spritz of water on the back side.  Pressure-emboss it with the Heart Bouquet 3D Embossing Folder.  Trim the corners with a corner rounding punch.

Cut Tall Sketch Heart from light pink cardstock - save the skinny offcuts from the top left corner and the right edge/bottom point.  Cut it again fron dark gray cardstock.  Stamp "xoxo" - from the Big and Little Valentines Clear Stamps Set - on the pink heart with Brilliance Starlite Black.

Cut the Scribble Rose Trio outline from dark gray cardstock.  Cut the solid background from light pink cardstock and pressure-emboss it with the detailed outline die.

Round the corners of a top-folding white A-2 card and attach the embossed layer. Add the heart and rose diecuts.

Try this design with fuchsia and gray diecuts too - or red and black - for a different look.  Hope you've been inspired to create an assortment of Valentines this year.  Make a few extras and have them ready for other occasions and everyday greeting too!

Special thanks to everyone from last week's LOVENOTES class at Impress!  Thanks for the pretzel chips Jan and Jenny!  Hope you liked the cards and enjoy making them for the special people in your life.  Thanks too - Ann, Erin and Lynne - for once helping everyone fill those shopping baskets.

In the Seattle area and need birthday card ideas?  See you at Impress on January 11th for the BIRTHDAYS HAPPEN - SO MANY CANDLES class.  Create cards, laugh and share the joys of growing better, not older.

Thanks for visiting...
