Rainbow Butterfly Birthday
by Angie Cimbalo

Hello and welcome!  It's Angie here today with a fun full size slimline card made with 2 new products from the latest release.

1)  Intricate Mini Butterflies Dies  94641 and 2)  Posh Happy Birthday Hot Foil Plate MBF011

Here's a closer look at my card:

This card was super fast to create and here's how I did it.

1)  Ink blend on a  large piece of white card stock with your favorite inks in rainbow order.  I choose lighter colors of Distress Oxide Ink for a more pastel look but you could use any inks you have.

2)  I cut one strip about 2 inches wide for my car and added it to the card base with two thin strips of black card stock on either side.

3)  Using the rest of your ink blended card stock, die cuts several butterflies with the mini butterfly die.  It's great because it cuts out a lot of them all at once.   I cut it about 3 times so I would have lots of butterflies to chose from and some left over for my stash.

4)  Add some color to the edges of the butterflies.  I used colored pencils and also tan ink with a finger dauber, just to give them a little more depth and contrast.

5)  Arrange the butterflies like you want and glue only the center of each down to the rainbow strip.

6)  Once dried, lift the wings for dimension and add tiny gems to their back centers.

7)  With the hot foil plate create your sentiment.  I used Aurora Foil from Gemini on black card stock and then used the coordinating die to cut it out.

8)  After glueing the sentiment on, I added little antenna for each butterfly and random black dots with a fine tip black marker all over the card front.

Here's one last look:

I hope you like my rainbow card for today.  I'm looking forward to sending this to a friend who loves rainbows!

Be sure to check out all the new wonderful items in the latest Memory Box release and thanks so much for stopping by!

Hello Butterfly Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone! I am enjoying this release so much with the mixture of foil plates and flowers.  So many beautiful cards to create.  The Stella Butterfly and Background die set and Black Glossy paper makes a stunning focal image to the flower and leaves dies.

Exquisite Leaves:

Use the Exquisite Leaves plate to hot foil aqua green on the dark Fresh Aqua paper.  I chose the last, greener paper. Die cut using the matching die.  Make 3 die cuts.

Die cut the 2 smallest flowers from the Bouquet Blooms and Leaves from the darkest blue from the Ocean Blue paper pad.  Die cut 3 times.

Stella Butterfly and Background:

Die cut the top die and center of the butterfly from Black Glossy paper.  Die cut the background from heavy white card stock.  Ink blend from center out with VersaFine Clair Cheerful, Warm Breeze from center to end, then Paradise from ends to just before the center.  Ink up the edge of the die cut with Paradise.  Glue the top die cut on tope then glue the center in the middle.  Use your fingers to round the end wings downwards. Then press up the wings while pressing down on the center.

Die cut the outline Hello Daily Script from Black Glossy paper.  Die cut the background from the same Fresh Aqua paper.  Adhere together.

Adhere a A2 size paper matching paper from the Madras Plaid Blu and Violet paper paid to a white A2 card.  Trim the Black Glossy paper to 4" x 51/4" and die cut out the center using 4the smallest die from Open Studios Oval Layers die set.  Adhere vellum to the back of the cut out.  Adhere the paper to to the center of the card.  Arrange and adhere the leaves on the left hand side around the oval cut out, leaving some of the leaves off the card.  Trim off the leaves.  Adhere the Hello sentiment to the upper right side of the oval cut out.  Adhere the butterfly to the lower right side, making sure the wings over lap the sentiment and leaves. Add the flowers to the center of the leaves.  Add the gold Fairy Gems and Fairy Jewels to the center of the flowers.

Butterfly Birthday Shaker
by Trina Pham

Hello there!  It’s been a while since I last posted, I almost forgot how.  😂*lol*   Anyway, I have a fun and simple birthday shaker card to share today featuring the Butterfly Coterie Collage and Posh Birthday Wishes dies from the May 2022 release.

Started by trimming two A2 size panels from Bristol paper.  Took one of them and die cut from it twice with the butterfly die to stretch the butterflies across from corner to corner.  The Posh Birthday Wishes foil plate was then hot foiled in black using the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System, and die cut out with the matching die.

On the other panel, ink blended Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry, Mermaid Lagoon and Twisted Citron distress inks before prepping it for an infinity shaker to go behind the butterfly panel.  To minimize bulk. the small clear Fairy Drops were separated out and used for the shaker bits.  Assembled the card onto a white card base to finish,

That does it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today,  Have a wonderful day.

Rainbow Butterfly Ensemble
by Laura Fulcher

Greetings friends. Today I am sharing a bright and happy butterfly card with lots (and lots) of bling. I just couldn't help myself!

To make the card, I started by running my pinpoint leaf plate through my die cut machine to add a subtle design to the background. I like that the background is subtle and doesn't interfere with all the colors on top.

Next, I cut out the butterflies using different colors of mirror paper and made flight trails using a large assortment of rhinestones. Finally, I added a foiled sentiment to the card using the new hot foil die plates. Here is a close up:

Thanks so much for stopping by today! What is your record for number of rhinestones on a card? I think this is my record breaker.

Layered Distress Oxide Inks
by Laura Fulcher

Greetings friends. I wanted to share a card I made using multiple layers of Distress Oxide Inks for a tone on tone look.

I started with a piece of white cardstock and then sponged stripes of Candied Apple, Spice Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide inks:

My tip would be to use a very light touch and gradually build your colors. You don't want to end up with sharp edges from your sponge and ink. Don't be afraid to go back and add more color to smooth out the transition between different colors.

Next, I placed my stencil on top of my background and sponged the same exact colors of Distress Oxide inks through the stencil openings:

Add lots of ink to the stencil openings. Looking back on my finished card, I wish I had added a bit more orange ink so that those butterflies would be darker. Here is a close up of the tone-on-tone inked butterflies:

To finish my card, I added my hugs die cut sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Ava Butterflies with Bouquet Blooms and Leaves
by Anne Thompson

Here's a butterfly card for today that features the AVA BUTTERFLIES 94643 layered to make one lovely butterfly flitting over a field of BOUQUET BLOOMS AND LEAVES 94652.

materials used

to make this card

  • trim one of the light blue plaid papers to 5 1/4 X 4 and add it to the front of a white notecard
  • die cut the Ava Butterflies twice from one of the dark teal cardstock papers; adhere the small ones on top of the larger ones
  • die cut the Bouquet Blooms twice from a light blue cardstock and the leaves twice from an olive green cardstock
  • orient the notecard to have a top fold
  • glue a variety of the blooms scattered across the card front and tuck in some of the leaves near the blooms
  • add various sizes of the Clear Fairy Drops to the flower centers and use three of the smallest Clear Fairy Drops to make a body on the butterfly

  • die cut the Hello Streamlined Script from a scrap of dark teal cardstock; glue it to the upper left area on the card front
  • use a large glue dot or foam dot to add the butterfly to the right, hovering above the flowers

I tucked the second butterfly inside the card where I will write a message.

I'm not usually a butterfly person but I love this Ava Butterflies 94643 die set as well as the Stella Butterfly and Background 94635 that I used on yesterday's cards.  I know these are dies I am going to reach for again and again because of the lovely embossed details on the wings of both Ava and Stella.

It's Memorial Day today in the United States, a day on which those who died in active military service are remembered.  Dad and I put red, white, and blue flowers and a flag on his brother's grave this weekend and I will put my Uncle John's Purple Heart on display in a place of honor. And I will thank my 99-year-old dad for his service on the European front lines in World War II.

Embossed Stencil
by Laura Fulcher

Greetings friends. Memory Box has a new butterfly stencil that I wanted to use for today's card. I started by laying down strips of leftover cardstock onto a white panel of cardstock. this is a great way of using up your scraps. I then placed the butterfly stencil on top of the stripes and adhered it to the card using washi tape.

To color the butterflies, I sponged white Unicorn ink onto the open spaces of the stencil and then embossed the piece using opaque white embossing powder. Here is a close up:

I thought the cardstock stripes and the spacing of the ink looked like shiplap you put on your walls. Of course, I may just be watching too many remodeling shows on tv.

To finish the card, I added some jewels as well as my diecut message.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Lavender Field Birthday Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone!  I have a birthday card using the New Sunburst hot foil plate and Lavender Bouquet to create this beautiful field of lavender with golden sun.  I can imagine laying under the sun and taking a nap in the lavender field.

Cut white card stock to 5"x5" square.  Position gold foil and Sunburst hot foil plate in the upper right hand corner of the paper.  Heat and run through your die cutting machine per their instruction.  I use Gemini Junior system and followed their instructions for foil plates and it turned out on the first run.  Ink blend Distress Broken China from the bottom left corner up over to the upper right hand corner.  Do not ink blend in the center of the sun. Ink blend the sun with Distress Squeezed Lemonade.  Ink blend the bottom left corner with Distress Twisted Citron keeping to the edges to create look of green steams.

Lavender Field:

Die cut all the Lavender Bouquet dies from fun foam.  Add some double sided tape to stamp block and position the fun foam die cuts on the tape.  Ink up with Distress Dusty Concord on the flower and Lucky Clover on the stem.  Randomly stamp first through 3 generation on the ink blended background.  Having taller lavender in the left corer and shorter toward the right corner.  Die cut the Lavender Bouquet from a mid green Lush Green paper pad, 2 times.  Die cut just the flower of the Lavender Bouquet from a dark and medium purple from the Twilight Purple paper pad, 2 times.  Trim off any of the stem that is left and glue on the matching green die cuts.  Adhere on top of the stamped background randomly mixing the light and dark lavender flowers.

Heat foil the Intricate Mini Butterflies from the same gold foil and medium tone Twilight Purple paper. Only foil first then run through the die cut machine again for die cutting.  Use temporary tape to secure the foil and paper securely to the paper so the die does not move.  Form the wings with your fingers to pop them up.

Hot foil the Birthday Wishes plate with gold and the midtone Twilight Purple paper.  After foiling use the cutting die to die cut out the sentiment.

Create a 6"x6" card base from white card stock.  Cut the same mid-tone Twilight Purple is the flowers and sentiment to 6"x6".  Cut a gold paper from the Vintage Pastel Mirror pad to 5 1/2"x5 1/2". Adhere the purchase on the card base, the gold paper, then the card base.  Adhere the butterflies, 2 in the lavender and 1 in the sky.  Adhere the sentiment with foam tape over the sun.
