Sunset Blush Wide Washi Tape adds instant springtime when you need a quick card.    Diecut Poppystamps' Oval Fold Frame and emboss it with Picket Tall Curve Border to add some quick texture.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with an easy spring design for you.  I love it when my tools and supplies do all of the work for me!

Cut and score pale pink cardstock twice with the Poppystamps Oval Fold Frame.  Fold the narrow tab back. Crease both frame sections on the other scored line.

Pressure-emboss the folded panels with the Poppystamps Picket Tall Curver Border.  Attach the embossed pieces to a pale pink cardstock rectangle cut with the 4-¼" x 5-½" Rectangle Basics die.

Attach Sunset Blush Wide Washi Tape to pale pink cardstock and diecut it using the oval from the Oval Fold Frame set.

Stamp the greeting - from the Big and Little Spring Clear Stamps Set - on a scrap of the pale pink cardstock with Summertime VersaFine Clair.  Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder - VersaFine Clair is a fast-drying ink.

Looking for a bit of sparkle?  Diecut the bright green glitter cardstock from the Twinkling Jewel Glitter Pad with the Picket Tall Curve Border.  Tiny sparkly green squares!

Need some Easter cards?  Just add some felt bunny diecuts and a new greeting instead - and you're done!  This could be a Mother's Day card too.

The pandemic forced us to cancel the March 28th SPRING THINGS class at Impress - but I'm hoping to sell class kits for the 5 Spring/Easter cards and a treat wrapper.

Thanks for visiting - be careful, stay safe and make some  spring cards...

  • Vintage Bicycle Die 984845
  • Metal Adapter Plate
  • Star Flash Designer Stencil 88542
  • Solo Stars Designer Stencil 88565

Speaking of stars...Big Thanks to design star Donna Mikasa for reminding me about diecutting with felt...on a warm summer day, when felt is not quite at the top of my list of go-to supplies.    It's so easy to cut, adds great dimension and comes in beautiful colors!

New classes at Impress start this week - on Friday, the 4th of July!  We'll be using some NEW Memory Box and Poppystamps designs in the Summer in Seattle class.  They're so new I'll be posting the samples in a few days.  Hope you can join us.

Watercolored Backgrounds for Special Celebrations

Jean Okimoto-Memory Box-Radiant Neons-watercolor technique-Beautiful Balloon-celebration-sequins

Hi - welcome back, Jean Okimoto here with another project this evening. Create a quick, colorful celebration card for any occasion with Designer Stencils, dies and inks.  It's easier than ever with such great products - let's get started!

Memory Box Products

  • Bubbles Designer Stencil 88574
  • Happy Arrows Designer Stencil 88509
  • Beautiful Balloon Die 98854
  • Violet Cardstock (5.5" square card)

Inks

  • Birthstone Kaleidacolor
  • Bahama Blue Fireworks Spritz
  • Electric Purple, Pink and Blue Radiant Neons

P1170607

Use the smoother side of 140# cold-pressed watercolor paper for the background, hot air balloon and arrow.  Violet Cardstock actually has a lot more red in it than you see here - but it's such a beautiful color that I just have to use it.  Maybe someday I'll learn to photograph it too!

Spritz the watercolor paper with water.  Ink a 4" soft rubber brayer with Birthstone, spritz it, then brayer the diluted, blended inks onto the moist watercolor paper.  Airdry it for a few minutes, then spritz it with Bahama Blue Fireworks for beautiful shimmery highlights.  Heat-set the inks.

Stencil Bubbles onto it with Electric Purple and heat-set it.  Trim the paper and ink the edges with Electric Purple.  Diecut Beautiful Balloon - leave the die on it and stencil the open areas with Electric Purple, Pink and Blue.  Emboss it with Imagine Crafts Iridescent Embossing Powder.  Stencil the "HOORAY" arrow with Electric Pink and Purple and emboss it with Iridescent powder.

Assemble the card - use foam dots for the balloon.  Attach pink and silver sequins.

Visit our Ideas Gallery for more designs and inspiration.

Thanks for sharing a few minutes your weekend with us!

Delivering Trucks of Love

MBdumptruck

Good Morning, Marnie here with a bit of a technique card.  You know how sometimes you have an idea but it's not quite cooked?  Well this was half cooked idea then I was sitting chatting with my kiddos and BAM crazy how fast the completed idea comes and I had to get up and do it right away before I forgot.  I dug through my drawers and found my furnace tape and my Alcohol Inks and colored up a piece of tape with a yellow/gold color.  I then cut out 3 of the Dump Trucks.  With a Black copic I carefully colored the outside of the wheels and set them aside.  Then came the background piece which was sponged with brown, green and blue Distress ink to create an outdoor scene.  Using the Happy Arrows Stencil I created a sign by stenciling Distress Ink over it outlining it in black ink and cutting it out.   The brown is just a couple of handcut strips of brown cardstock and the sign is stuck on top to create the sign posts.   At this point one truck get cut in half so that it can be dumping some of the hearts on the ground. Then the Dump Trucks are stuck down and a ton of hearts are cut with the Heart of Hearts Die and put into the back of the trucks.  Hope you like it I am totally excited by the metal trucks!   This would be a fun fun Boy Card you could put all kinds of things in the truck.

Lazy Summer Afternoon

P1100966

Hi - Jean Okimoto here, with a sit-back-and-relax design for you.  It features A Quiet Spot CS1918E (the rubber cling stamp version) and Vintage Bicycle Die 98484.

Layering Puffy Clouds 98172 adds a lofty look and a bit of dimension too.  The bicycle is cut from a lightweight recycled beverage can to add a cool vintage modern accent to the card.   Use the Memory Box Metal Adapter Plate with the other plates required for thin metal dies - it's as easy as diecutting cardstock!

P1100975

Tinting the background and painting the stamped image is easy - and it's all done with the ColorBox Ocean Breeze Chalk Paintbox ink set.  Detailed directions and supply lists are posted in the card gallery on our website.  Click on the Read more link below.

Lamp post scene and Chrysanthemum Birthday...

_MG_8083

Enjoy the ride!  Pam here, taking you away to a place with gingham grass and polka dot flowers! So fun to create whimsical scenes with Memory Box and Poppystamps dies and papers!

_MG_8099

I used parts of a couple dies… the leaves in the tree are from the Lavish Branch die and the grass is just the scallop part of the Spring Border die with the flowers cut off.

_MG_8091

I die cut the Lamp post frame out of Vanilla Bean card-stock and the Debutante background is die cut out of Water card-stock.

The Lavish Branch is die cut from the Key Lime Gingham and the Cranberry Dots Card-stock.  I cut the red flowers off and glued them on top of the Lime Green flowers with Tombow Mono Multi glue.

The little butterflies are from the new Dancing Butterflies die and the butterfly is the Pippi Butterfly die.

_MG_8108 copy

My Chrysanthemum Happy Birthday card features the new Chrysanthemum Outline die, Chrysanthemum Background die and Happy Birthday script dies.  I used the Dogwood Blossom Outline die and Dogwood Blossom die for the stems and leaves.

Happy Birthday is die cut from Licorice card-stock,  the flowers are cut from Bubblegum dots card-stock, the stems and leaves are cut from Key Lime Dots and the accent paper border is Key Lime Gingham.

How to get perfect placement for the happy and birthday words…
* after die cutting, keep the negative piece from the cut  (the part you would usually throw away)
* place it over your card where you want your word to be
* put adhesive on your word die cut
* place your word back in the negative piece, press it in place
* then slowly, carefully remove the negative piece so all that is left in place, is the word

_MG_8126

In this photo you can see I die cut the florals in the white card base then cut them out of the colored card-stock too and inserted them in the cuts in the white card base.

A fun technique for using Memory Box dies...cutting, layering them with different colors for a little different look.  I did this on my Jasper Leaves card,  HERE

Thanks for stopping by today! Happy stamping and die cutting!
