Stencil, Color Burst and Video

Good morning Memory Box fans!  I hope your day is going well and you're getting your creative on.

There is a video tutorial at the end of this post showing how to create the front panels for today's cards so don't forget to scroll all the way down

Today's post is showing how to make 2 different card fronts using one gorgeous stencil and some Color Burst.  Fast, easy and awesome.  I love me some stencils.  I think they are one of the most versatile crafting tools I have, and I use them constantly and in lots of different ways.  Today I'm using the Leafy Stems stencil from the Garden Collection.

This card is using the positive portion of the stencil.  In my little head, the positive part of the stencil refers to the openings whereas the negative part of the stencil is the plastic portion.

And the second card uses the both the positive and the negative parts of the stencil.

The background colors using the Color Bursts was created by using the negative part of the stencil and the leaves were colored with Distress Inks using the positive part of the stencil.

Here is a quick video showing how to use the stencil in multiple ways and how to use the Color Burst in a simple yet effective way.  Enjoy

Cherry Blossoms are here

Happy 20th Anniversary to Cathy and her amazing store Simple Pleasures.

May you have another blessed 20 years, and all of your customers are truly blessed to have such a fabulous place to find everything we need to feed our obsessions with a great owner and staff!

Dave has created another amazing exclusive set, and he's definitely outdone himself this year.  The die and stamp set includes 3 dies and coordinating stamps

and also a separate set of 4 sentiments with bonus stamps on the end of the wood block.

Close up of the petal stamp and die....makes for a great dimensional aspect for designs.

Here is one of the cards I created with the new sets

Joy

I colored and die cut 3 Cherry Blossoms and adhered them to a frame from the Shaker Rectangular Frame set.  The butterflies were stamped and cut out with the coordinating die and I bent the wings back to give more dimension.  The "petals" which I actually decided to make leaves since I thought the card needed a little pop of green were cut from the petal die.

I gave this designs some dimension by die cutting the Cherry Blossom die in pink card stock and adhering the colored and stamped die cut on top.

For the Memory Box classes in March at Simple Pleasures, we will be making a similar card and for the Anniversary celebration this coming weekend, I'll be using these stamps and dies in a make and take on Friday (11-1pm and 5-7pm) and on Saturday from 11-1.

If you have any questions about the sets or would like to purchase either or both sets, you can contact Cathy at [email protected] and you can find the pricing and shipping information on the Simple Pleasures blog

Thanks for stopping by today and hope you have a wonderful rest of your day

Pink Splendid Clarkia

MarniePinkLove1

Good Morning!  Marnie here today with  another fun card using the Memory Box January 2015 Release.  I love how modern this card turned out with the bright pink Splendid Clarkia - 99068 flower embedded in the mat silver cardstock and the modern LOVE font from All About the Love - 30005 out of green shimmer cardstock.  This is, of course, part of my Die Cut Discovery class at CraftFancy this month and will also be featured at the CraftFancy Valentine Event this Saturday along with so many more projects created with this line of dies.

Midas Touch

Sometimes you have to go back to your roots to make a CAS card. Do you remember when you first learned to emboss? Remember the magic? The moment when the powder heated and raised?  It was amazing! It is what sucked many of us in to stamping.

Today's card is back to basics with gold embossing. I sponged the pattern lanthenay stencil with a versmark pad on my base card. I then heat embossed it in gold. I foam mounted the sentiment pice that I cut using the solid arch background die. Only I didn't cut it all the way through. I only cut it enough to create the curve panel that is so trendy these days.

This makes a great wedding or anniversary card.

Thanks for taking a look today.
