Magnolia Pocket Thank You Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I am really enjoying creating cards with the Magnolia release.  I have a front pocket card using the Curved Cap Pinpoint Layers dies decorated with the Magnolia Blossom Trio. You can add a greeting to a square piece of paper or put in a gift card.  They are simple to make and add to any card front or inside.

Flowers:

Die cut the Magnolia Blossom Trio from heavy weight white card stock.  I found that using a stencil sticky mate and putting the paper and die cuts on it makes for easy blending.  I use sticky notes to cover areas I don't want the ink on.  It makes it easy and quick to ink blend. I used 2 different shads of inks for the flowers, Clair Charming Pink and Purple Delight to get a lighter color for these magnolias.
For the leaves I used ClairGreen Oasis and Shady Lane.  I did some light bending of the petals using my fingers or a pencil.  I also used foam dots to pop up some of the petals.  I glued the pieces together referencing the front of the envelope.  It is also easier with the sticky stencil mat to keep all the pieces together.

Pocket:

Die cut the 3rd largest die from the Curved Cap Pinpoint Layers set twice from a light purple paper from the Magnolia Plaid paper pad.  Take 1 of the die cuts and use the 3rd from smallest die from the Circle Basic set and die cut from the center of the curved cap to create a notch.  This creates a spot to pull the item out of the pocket.  Add 1/8" double sided tape around the 3 straight sides of the dark side of the paper.  Do NOT add tape to the curved top. Add the the die cut with the notch on top, making sure the lighter paper is on the outside you can see the dark paper from the notch.

Background:

3D emboss A2 side white card base using the Magnolia Blooms folder. Lightly rub some Distress Oxide in Spun Sugar and Mill Lavender on just the tops of the flowers and leaves.

Assembly:

Adhere the background to a white A2 sized card.  Adhere the pocket to the center, tilting it slightly.  Adhere the flowers and leaves to the front of the pocket.  Die cut The tilted Thanks from the mirror gold paper from the Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad.  adhere over the flowers.  Splatter with some gold metal watercolor paint and add some Clear Fairy Drops randomly on the flower petals and leaves.

Mini Slimline Magnolia Birthday Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I have another mini slimline card featuring the April Magnolia Release.  This time it features the Magnolia Blooms 3D embossing folder.

92A236F7-EC3D-4595-8EF6-E2D868951A5C

Flowers:

Embossing black card stock using the Magnolia Blooms 3D embossing folder.  Use Slippery When Wet Lunar Paste with your finger to rub on the paste over all the embossed flowers to give them a golden look.  Fussy each flower out.  This is really easy and didn't take much time.  Then use the Kitsch Flamingo Distress Crayon from the center of the flower outward and then blend with your finger.

EC42B9F7-DBAF-44CF-A7F0-3ED927D0C864

Sentiment:

Die but the top birthday die from the Happy Birthday Tender Scrip die 2 times from heavy weight black card stock.  Glue them together. Gold heat emboss happy from the Big and Little Valentines Clear Stamp set onto black card stock. Trim around the sentiment.

Assembly:

Trim a black card stock to 3 1/2" x 6" to make a card base.  Trim a dark purple with gold fold paper from the Magnolia Grove paper pad to 3 1/4" x 5 3/4".  Adhere to the pattern paper to the black card.  Adhere both to a mini slimline white card.  Arrange the Magnolias flowers in the middle of the card starting with the largest flower and then arrange the other flowers that are complete.  The flowers there are partial tuck them behind the other flowers.  Adhere the birthday die cut to center of the flower arrangement and the Happy to the top left of the birthday die cut.

Backyard Wren Pocket Card
by Anne Thompson

Today's card begins with a plain side-fold A2 white notecard and ends up as a pocket card with a packet of seeds tucked in.

IMG_1543 (1)-ink

How cute is this?!!!

To make this card:

IMG_1535 (1)-ink

Select two coordinating plaid papers from the MAGNOLIA PLAID PP1021 paper pad.

IMG_1535 (1)-ink

Die cut the BACKYARD WREN 94723 from each of the plaid papers.  You will have enough pieces to make two birds.  Assemble them.  There are impression on the pieces and the image on the envelope to help you place the pieces where they fit.  Choose one bird for the card.

IMG_1531 (1)-ink

Choose the large magnolia branch with the blossom from the RUB ON TRANSFERS RUB 101.  Remove the protective paper and place the image face down on the white note card front and use the enclosed wooden stick on the back of the image to release it as it rubs onto the card.

IMG_1536 (1)-ink

Add the bird onto the branch.  Use a pencil and a straight-edge (paper or ruler) to draw a line from the bottom of the notecard in a ways from the corner to the top of the notecard that will leave part of the bird sticking out beyond the line.

IMG_1537 (1)-ink

Use detail scissors to cut along the line and around the bird.

IMG_1538 (1)-ink

Take one of the papers you have left from making the birds and trim it down a bit.  Add it inside the notecard.  Place Scor-Tape along the bottom edge.  (When I peeled off the protective coating I rolled the adhesive back so it would be behind the trimmed front of the card when I closed it to make the pocket.)

IMG_1540 (1)-ink

Close the notecard to secure the bottom edge of the pocket you've created...

IMG_1541 (1)-ink

and tuck in a seed packet of flowers or vegetables!

IMG_1542 (1)-ink

You could use this style of card to tuck almost anything that would fit into the pocket--tea or hot chocolate, candy, jewelry, etc.  Use your imagination!  The important thing is to have an image on the front that will just peek over that cut edge to give the pocket some interest.

Happy Crafting!

Textured, Transferred Marvelous Magnolia by Jean Okimoto

Here's a design that's quick and fail-proof - it's a perfectly-colored, embossed blossom from our new Magnolia Collection!  Hi, Jean here with an easy way to add color, texture and dimension to your cards with our new beautifully-colored Magnolia Rub-On Transfers.

MemoryBoxMarvelousMagnolia3DEmbossingFolderAndDies, MemoryBoxMagnoliaRub-onTransfers, MemoryBoxHelloStreamlinedScript, MemoryBoxNnestedGlobes, MemoryBoxMagnoliaPlaid6x6, MemoryBoxDies, MemoryBoxBrightJewels, MemoryBoxCo, JeanOkimoto, 3DEmbossingFolders, RubOnTransfers, HandmadeCards, Cardcrafting, CardmakingIdeas, FlowerCards, DiecutFlowers, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Cut a Marvelous Magnolia Rub-On Transfer (and the paper liner) that matches a design from the

Marvelous Magnolia 3-D Embossing Folder and its set of dies - leave a generous margin around it for easier handling.  Carefully remove the frosty top layer with the design - be sure it's completely removed from the paper liner.  Press it firmly onto smooth pale lavender cardstock to transfer the design, add a soft tint of color to the petals, and highlight the lines at the base of the petals

Tip #1...a wooden craft stick for burnishing is included with the 2-piece rub-on set - using it is optional.  Instead - diecut the design with the matching die from the embossing folder set - the diecutting pressure will smoothly burnish the rub-on onto the cardstock.

Tip #2...don't remove the frosty top layer yet - it will cushion and protect the rub-on when it's pressure-embosssed in the folder.  Place the diecut in the folder and emboss it using the plate(s) and/or mat(s) required on your machine. Carefully remove the frosty top layer.

MemoryBoxMarvelousMagnolia3DEmbossingFolderAndDies, MemoryBoxMagnoliaRub-onTransfers, MemoryBoxHelloStreamlinedScript, MemoryBoxNnestedGlobes, MemoryBoxMagnoliaPlaid6x6, MemoryBoxDies, MemoryBoxBrightJewels, MemoryBoxCo, JeanOkimoto, 3DEmbossingFolders, RubOnTransfers, HandmadeCards, Cardcrafting, CardmakingIdeas, FlowerCards, DiecutFlowers, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Diagonally cut a plaid 6x6 from the Magnolia Plaid pack with the 2.5" wide Nested Globe die.  Cut lavender cardstock with the 2" wide Nested Globe die.  Cut a purple 6x6 from the Twilight Purple Collection and spritz it with Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz.  Heat-set the ink, then cut the cardstock with the 1.5" wide Nested Globe die.

Glue 2 pieces of the purple cardstock together and diecut Hello Streamlined Script.  Pre-gluing and cutting both layers at once saves time and adds dimension to your greeting.

MemoryBoxMarvelousMagnolia3DEmbossingFolderAndDies, MemoryBoxMagnoliaRub-onTransfers, MemoryBoxHelloStreamlinedScript, MemoryBoxNnestedGlobes, MemoryBoxMagnoliaPlaid6x6, MemoryBoxDies, MemoryBoxBrightJewels, MemoryBoxCo, JeanOkimoto, 3DEmbossingFolders, RubOnTransfers, HandmadeCards, Cardcrafting, CardmakingIdeas, FlowerCards, DiecutFlowers, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Cut white cardstock to 4.25" x 10" and score it at 4.5".  Attach the diecuts - use foamtape at the tips of the petals and large leaves.  Add green Bright Jewels.  Cut an A2-sized rectangle to cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Confession...I've never used rub-ons before and my first magnolia ended up on my sweater sleeve. A steep learning curve! Hope these tips and ideas inspire you to experiment with Magnolia Rub-Ons and create a stash of cards for any occasion.

Thanks for visiting...

Mini Slimline Think of You Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone!  I hope everyone is loving this new release as much as I am.  I have another card using the new Spring Magnolia release's Magnolia Bud trio and Magnolia Grove pattern papers.

FA318758-3EE9-42CF-B6EF-C85BA2650256

Flower Buds:

Diet the Magnolia Bud Trio from heavy weight white card stock.  Ink blend the buds using VersaFine Clair Purple Delight using a small makeup sponge.  Ink blend from the bottom up toward the center of the flower to get a gradient of color.  For the leaf portion I used VersaFine Clair Pinecone. Tip:  I used a stencil adhesive pad to hold my die cuts.  I put the negative paper on first then inserted the die cuts.  this holds them in place to make it easier to ink blend.  If I need I used a post it note to cover up other pieces so I didn't get ink in the wrong areas.  Adhere the pieces together following the first picture of the flowers.  It is pretty easy to follow.

57A00A61-C238-41E0-831E-EA1E8FF71927

Background:

Die cut 2 different size squares to stack on top of each other using the Magnolia Grove paper pad and the Square Basics Set.  For the smaller, top layer choose a cream with gold fold paper (less distracting from the buds).  Die cut with the 4th smallest square die. Adhere foam tape to back.  For the larger, bottom layer choose a darker color that will help ground the card.  die cut with the 5th smallest square die.  Adhere the 2 sized squares on top of each other.  Cut a strip of gold mirror paper from the Vintage Pastel Mirror pad to 1 3/4" x 5 1/2".  Center the 3 squares to the strip of gold mirror paper.  Adhere the strip to a mini-slim line card panel from the Magnolia Grove.  I chose a dark purple with gold foiling.

090F590A-040F-4C8A-AF0C-7A08D2C3AE11

Assembly:

Add the background panel to a 3 1/2" x 6" mini-slim line white card base.  Adhere 1 of the Magnolia Buds to 1 of the squares.  For the sentiment stamp cream card stock in the matching Pinecone ink using the thinking of you from the Big and Little Valentines stamp set.  Trim around each word and adhere to the bottom of each bud.

Magnolia Blossoms Leaf Branch
by Anne Thompson

There's so much to love about the new April Magnolia Collection!  For today's card I'm using MAGNOLIA LEAF BRANCH 94721 and MAGNOLIA BLOSSOM 94715 to highlight the new 6X6 paper pads--MAGNOLIA GROVE PP1022 and MAGNOLIA PLAID PP1021.  By now you must know how much I love plaid!

IMG_1515 (1)-ink

These are the two new paper pads.

IMG_1517 (1)-ink

And these are the two dies I used.

IMG_1514 (1)-ink

I chose one of the floral papers from Magnolia Grove PP1022 and trimmed it 5 1/4 X 4 and added it to the front of a top fold white notecard.

I cut the Magnolia Leaf Branch 94721 from one of the lovely green plaids in the Magnolia Plaid PP1021 paper pad.  I added the branch to the front of the card using a glue pen.

I cut the Magnolia Blossom 94715 three times from one of the lovely pink plaids in the Magnolia Plaid PP1021 paper pad and assembled the three flowers using Glue Dots.  I added the flowers to the branch with dimensional foam dots.  I then tucked in a couple of the single leaves from the branch die.

I left a space in the lower left to add an appropriate sentiment when I'm ready to send this card on its way.

Magnolias and Wren Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone!  There is a NEW RELEASE and it is AMAZING!  Can't say it's my favorite but all the product is so beautiful that it's a rememberable one.  I have a card featuring the Backyard Wren die and Magnolia Rub On Transfer sheets that have matching dies and a 3D embossing folder.  Easy way to add beautiful flowers with all the depth but not the work.

18995B57-05FE-4482-BCEF-11834BE50FBA_1_201_a

Magnolias:

Cut out the flowers from the sheet (leave the backing on) that have the matching dies from the Marvelous Magnolia 3D Embossing Folder and Dies.  Make sure to leave a boarder. Remove the backing and place the transfer with the image side up.  Use the provided popsicle stick (or a large shaping tool or bone folder) and rub all over the transfer. Slowly peal from one corner, making sure the image transferred to the paper.  If the image is still stuck to then put back the transfer and rub some more.  Die cut using the matching dies from the Marvelous Magnolia.  Adhere the die cuts into the 3D embossing folder and run through your die cut machine.  I didn't line up the dies exactly but used a watercolor marker to color over any white paper that was miss aligned.

66965633-CF7D-4A13-8FFC-373576D4C605

Bird:

Die Cut the Backyard Wren from white card stock.  I ink blended all pieces using Distress Ink; Spiced Marmalade, Aged Mahogany, and Ground Espresso.  The body base doesn't have any of the Spiced Marmalade.  For the eye I used a black jell roll pen to give a little shine/life into the eye.Adhere the die cuts per the picture on the front.

ACE03089-55B3-4C61-A7F9-A9546DBDFFD9

Assembly:

Trim the beige paper from Magnolia Grove to 4 x 5 1/4".  Ink blend around the outside edge using Distress Aged Mahogany ink.  Adhere to a white , side folding, A2 sized card using form adhesive.  For the sentiment I used my premade sentiments using the Big and Little Valentines.  This is from a post a few years ago. I stamped the full set using a stamp plate form and taped it to the top.  I sampled on cream color card that was backed w/ double sided adhesive with dark brown ink.  I just put the sheet in the package and cut out sentiments as I need them.  I selected "special delivery" tried it to side and removed the backing of the adhesive and added to the bottom, left corner.

Spritzed, Highlighted and Layered Birthday Wishes by Jean Okimoto

A mist of Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz accents the Gentle Rose Watercolor Floral and defines the details of the beautiful blossom.  The rose and Wayfarer Leaves match the cluster of flowers on the bottom left corner of the Garland 6x6 and create a birthday greeting for someone special.  Hi, Jean here sharing a quick technique that's perfect for Memory Box's layered floral die sets.

Cut the solid Gentle Rose Watercolor Floral background from a medium-toned red/coral sheet Berry Red 6x6.  Spritz a slightly lighter 6x6 with a fine mist of Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz - prop the cardstock up vertically,  shake the bottle vigorously and spritz!   Costco boxes with the cutouts are great spraybooths.  Dry the shimmery ink, then cut the cardstock with the layering pieces.  The illustration on the envelope - and the lightly-marked guidelines on the diecut - make it quick and easy to assemble the rose.

MemoryBoxGentleRoseWatercolorFloral, MemoryBoxHappyBirthdayTenderScript, MemoryBoxWayfarerLeaves, MemoryBoxSlimBasic RectangleLayers, MemoryBoxVintagePastelMirrorPad, MemoryBoxAutumnFairyCrystals, MemoryBoxGarland6x6Pack, JeanOkimoto, MemoryBoxCo, MemoryBoxDiecuts, Diecutting, DiecutFlowers, DiecutLeaves, SlimlineCards, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Cut Wayfarer Leaves with a medium green from the Lush Green 6x6 pack - attach doublestick tape strips behind the leaves to keep the center offcuts in the leaves.  Remove the lowest leaf from the large diecut.  Cut the lowest leaf from the smaller diecut and reposition it between the other two leaves.

Cut the Garland 6x6 print with a portion of the 7-½" x 2-½" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  That's a lot easier than measuring and cutting it - and hoping it's not wonky!

Glue two pieces of smooth white cardstock together and diecut the Happy Birthday Tender Script background.  Pressure-emboss the backgrounds with the detailed top layer of the greeting using the rubber embossing mat and plate(s) required for your machine.  Embossing the greeting background makes it a lot easier to attach the top layer.

Cut the top layer from the peach Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad 6x6.  Assemble the greeting.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½") - attach the rose with foamtape.  Add amber Autumn Fairy Crystals.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

The combination of Memory Box 6x6 color collections and Sheer Shimmer Spritz creates great layering and accent artpapers.   Add a beautiful luster without warping the sturdy 110 lb. cardstock.  A quick spritz is all you need!

Thanks for visiting...have a great weekend!
