Winter Wedding Cake Congratulations
by Anne Thompson

I made a sample of the Party Layer Cake 94854 using thin white paper just to see how I could put it together.  That sample inspired me to think of this cake as a wedding cake to use on a congratulations card.  Some heavy white card stock, flowery cake decorations using Lucky Blooms 94865, and snowflake paper  from the Poinsettia Garland paper pad PP1024 added just the right touch for a winter wedding card. materials used

  • PARTY LAYER CAKE 94854
  • LUCKY BLOOMS 94865
  • POINSETTIA GARLAND PP1024, snowflake paper
  • "congratulations" from BIRTHDAY CHIC CLEAR STAMP SET CL5288
  •  blank white A2 note card
  • VersaFine Clair Nocturne (black) ink

to make this card

  • die cut the Party Layer Cake from heavy white card stock; assemble the two layers by adding the garland-like trim (I only used two of the pieces on the top layer)
  • die cut the Lucky Blooms from heavy white card stock; assemble the flowers
  • trim the snowflake paper to 4 X 5 1/4 and add it to the front of the note card
  • add the two cake layers on the snowflake panel; add the two flowers on the right edge of the cake
  • stamp "congratulations" on a scrap of the white card stock, trim, and adhere it below the cake IMG_4775 (1)

I'm not much of a baker but this cake was easy-peasy!  I love how this cake as a wedding cake could be adapted to coordinate with the bridal party colors and the season of the year.  Even the decorations could be chosen to reflect the wedding theme.  Or it would make a lovely anniversary card.  So many possibilities!

Happy Crafting!
