Thank You Butterflies
by Angie Cimbalo

Main

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here with another butterfly card featuring some of the lovely new dies and papers in the newest 2024 Fuchsia Release.

For this card I used the "Canyon Butterflies" and "Thank You Breezey Script" dies along with one plaid paper from the new "Fuchsia Plaid" pack and one from the "Brilliant Fuchsia" pack.  Here's another look:

Main

I also used the "Vintage Pastel Mirror" pack to cut one set of the butterflies and the thin part of the "Thank You" sentiment.  I cut another set of the butterflies from the "Brilliant Fuchsia" paper pad and also the tips of the wings of the larger butterfly.  There are so many possibilites to make beautiful butterflies because the die has the butterfly and the separate tip die.

I glued the plaid patterened paper down first on the card front.  Then I glued the patterned paper main butterfly bodies down on the plaid.  Next I added the patterned paper tips to the larger butterfly with glue and then took both the gold butterflies and glued only the very center of them to the flat patterned paper butterflies on the card.  I had cut antenna, etc from the same paper so I added those to each butterfly and then I added clear jewels to the butterfly centers.

The thank you background was cut from white card stock and after putting both layers together I added the sentiment to the bottom of the card front.

Here's one last look:

I hope you like my card for today!  Be sure to come back each day to see more inspiration from the design team.  Thanks for stopping by!

Canyon Butterfly Hello
by Trina Pham

IMG_6605

Hello everyone.  After many trials and errors, this simple card turned out to be my favourite.  My card today features the Canyon Butterfly and Hello Breezy Script dies from the current 2024 Fuchsia release.

The butterfly wings were die cut from white while its body/antennae/edge layers were die cut from black.  Ink blended the wings with Salvaged Patina distress ink using a finger blending brush.

IMG_6606

The background panel was embossed with the Blooming 3D embossing folder.  Die cut the sentiment from white and its shadow from black.  Adhered the butterfly body directly to the embossed panel and popped up the wings with foam tape for more dimension and give it a floating effect. Mounted the panel onto a white card base to finish.

Super easy and my card was done!  in.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day

Bugs and Butterfly Card
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_8619

Hello everyone!  For today's card I wanted to use the new Brilliant Beetles die set, so I thought the Vintage Tray Die and 3D Embossing Folder would be a great background for my card.

I started by die cutting the Vintage Tray Frame once from gold foil paper and 3 times from white cardstock.  I placed the gold foil frame into the Vintage Tray 3D embossing folder and ran it through my die cutting machine to add some texture to the frame.  Next, I stacked and glued all the frames together ending with the gold foil one.

Next, I embossed a piece of white cardstock using the same 3D embossing folder.  I used Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and a blending brush to add some color to the background.  I used gold and black ink to spatter the background.

The frame was glued to the embossed background and adhered to a black cardstock mat.  This was glued to a white cardstock card base.

IMG_8620

All the beetles and the butterfly were die cut from white cardstock and colored with Distress Inks.

I used foam squares to adhere them to the card.

To finish the card, I adhered the Happy Birthday Foil Greeting to the last opening in the frame.

Blue River Butterfly Among theLeaves
by Anne Thompson

Here's the butterfly card I promised.  It features the Blue River Butterfly and the Exquisite Leaf Frame.

Unnamed-2 (1)

materials used

  • BLUE RIVER BUTTERFLY 94832
  • EXQUISITE LEAF FRAME 94665
  • ANEMONE GROVE PP1026 PAPER PAD
  • LAGOON CARD STOCK SP1010
  • GREENERY CARD STOCK SP1011
  • black card stock; white A2 note card

Unnamed-3 (1)

to make this card

I started with choosing my papers--a blue card stock from Lagoon for the butterfly and a scrap of black card stock ; a coordinating blue/gold print from the Anemone Grove papers to cover the card front; and a dark green card stock from Greenery for the Exquisite Leaf Frame.

I cut the butterfly first and assembled it with one body underneath the wing pieces that I attached to it and the other body glued on over the top of the wings and secured to the underneath body.

Unnamed-5 (1)

To assemble the card, I covered the front with the Anemone Paper and used a Glue Pen to attach the Exquisite Leaf Frame.

Unnamed-4 (1)

I used a Wobble to add on the butterfly--a wobble is like a spring with one end that attaches to the butterfly and the other to the card front that allows the butterfly to move when you flick the edge of the wing.

Unnamed-1 (1)

Enjoy this summer day!  Happy Crafting!

Combine the extra plaid and violet Vintage Tray offcuts for a similar card using any of our new 2024 Fuchsia Collection butterflies - or the new Azure Dragonflies.  The Rainbow Reflections Mirror Cardstock and Glitzy Glitter Pad 6x6 sets have the perfect colors to coordinate with the plaids.

Glitter and Die Cuts
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_4449

Greetings friends. I was in the mood to play with some of Memory Box's new papers and dies along with lots of glitter for sparkle. I thought I would give you a few tips for better results.

First, a nice bold pattern of paper seems to work best. This is the one I chose from the Brilliant Fuchsia paper pack:

IMG_4430

Next, you want to choose a really strong double sided tape that will hold glitter strongly and you won't end up with bits of glitter everywhere. I really love the tape from Elizabeth Craft, but there are lots of options for glitter tape on the market. I took the backing off of one side of the tape and adhered it on top of my patterned paper:

IMG_4433

I left the backing on the other side and placed my die cut side down so that it would cut through the backing, the tape, and my patterned paper.

Once I cut out the wings, I peeled off the remaining backing. You might not tell from this picture, but there is exposed tape on top of my cut out wings:

IMG_4434

Next, you want to a glitter that is finely ground and is translucent. If you would to choose course glitter and/or opaque glitter, you wouldn't be able to see the pattern of the paper anymore.

Next, I sprinkled the wings with glitter and pressed the glitter into the tape firmly with my fingers. After I shook off the extra glitter, I used a common lint roller to roll over the wings to pick up any remaining pieces of glitter.

I assembled my butterfly and then chose a watercolor background I make the other day as the backdrop. I simply masked off a rectangle onto watercolor paper, wet the paper and then applied my paint. I started with the blue circle in the center and then worked my way out using different colors:

Here is a close up of the glitter wings and the watercolor background:

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you will try glittering your die cuts. After all, we all could use a little sparkle in our lives.

Mixed Media Beetle Birthday Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  Once I saw the Brilliant Beetles I knew I had to do a mixed media background for these bugs.  This was a fun card to create and I love how it turned out.

22B3EF34-AB12-488B-A3C2-AE02A93EDB38

Background:

Trim Distress Heavy Kraft Card stock to 3" x 5 1/2" piece and a 3 1/2" x 6" piece.  Take a brayer and pick up Distress Paint in Tattered Rose and roll it on the smaller paper, making sure it is applied unevenly.  Heat dry. Next repeat using a white acrylic paint, only adding a little.  Heat dry. Use a sponge and apply some Ground Espresso Distress Paint lightly sponging it on randomly creating some crackle like texture.  Use the rest of the Ground Espresso and pain on the larger piece of paper. Heat dry both.  Spray Distress Spray Stain in Vintage Photo all other the smaller paper.  Let set for a few minutes, do NOT dry.  Use a baby wipe or damp paper towel and lightly wipe off the spray. This will darken up all the previous layers, giving it a vintage look.

Beetles:

Die cut the Brilliant Beetles from Distress Mix Media card stock.  Spray Bubbling Cauldron Distress Mica Stain the largest beetle top and Harvest Moon over 2 of the middle size beetle. Heat dry.  Use your finger and lightly add Distress Ink Vintage Photo ever the top of the bodies. Let set and then wipe with a damp towel.  Ink blend all head and leg die cuts using Ground Espresso Distress Ink.  Ink blend the antenna using Distress Ink Black Soot.  Adhere together using the envelope as a guide.  Add Glossy Accents to the top of the beetles.  let air dry.

AF651BE6-B4C9-4C1E-84D7-DFE35A4E8641

Assembly:

Adhere the top mixed media background to the painted back ground using foam tape. Adhere to a mini-slimline card. Adhere the largest beetle to the center and then the others on top and bottom.  Adhere a Happy Birthday Foil Greetings Black Tab to the center of the large beetle.

Buzzing Bumblebees Bday
by Trina Pham

IMG_6485

Hello everyone.  Although fun, my card today is a bit out of my comfort zone. 😂  I used the Buzzing Bumblebees and Happy Birthday Breezy Script dies from the current 2024 Fuchsia release.

Started with the background.  Yellow alcohol inks in two shades and white mixatives were dropped onto a mini hexagon gelli plate.  Added rubbing alcohol and used a hand blower to get the inks moving.  When satisfied, pressed a piece of alcohol friendly cardstock onto it and pulled the print.  I made a couple of attempts.  Splattered with diluted black gouache paint for even more texture then set aside to dry.

IMG_6484

The bee layers were then die cut from white paper and coloured with Copic Sketch marker Y15 and a memento Tuxedo Black marker.  Shading on their wings was done with a C1 Copic Sketch marker.

IMG_6486

The sentiment was die cut  from magenta Rainbow Reflections mirror paper.  Snipped “Birthday” apart to isolate the “B” and “day”.   The B was die cut two more times and stacked to give it a floating effect.  After all, the bees are carrying it. 😂  Assembled the card onto a white card base, then added a few clear Fairy drops to finish.

IMG_6487

And that does it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Golden glittered Buzzing Bumblebees deliver special birthday wishes on today's card.  Dainty Fuchsia Stem and a print from the Brilliant Fuchsia 6x6 set create a summer design from our 2024 Fuchsia Collection.  Hi, Jean here, ready to welcome the weekend!

Cut Dainty Fuchsia Stem from two shades of violet 6x6's in the Vibrant Violet Collection.  Ink the leaves and stems with Morning Mist Versafine Clair.  Assemble the blossoms using a combination of the two shades of violet cardstock.

Cut a dark red/violet 6x6 with the 3-¾" long Rectangle Basics die.  Cut the Brilliant Fuchsia 6x6 print with part of the 5" long Rectangle Basics die.  It's easy to "frame" and cut exactly what you need using the rectangle die - much easier than measuring and/or guessing!

Cut 2 of the Buzzing Bumblebees from the gold Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Cut their wings from the gold Majestic Glitter Pad 6x6.

Attach the diecuts to a white A6 card (4-½" x 6-¼").  Add a Happy Birthday Foil Greetings Black Tab - and that's it!

Use the extra Dainty Fuchsia Stem diecuts for a similar birthday card.  Or send a note of appreciation with the Thank You Foil Greetings Black Tab.
