Greetings friends. Today I want to share with you a technique I like to use when I want to focus on coloring a background instead of a focal image.
To make the card, I started with 140lb watercolor paper and masked the edges with washi tape to tape my watercolor paper to a heavier board. I did this so that I could make a rectangular shape for my background that also had a border. It is also easier to have watercolor paper dry flat if you tape it down first and then remove the tape when the paint is completely dry.
After taping my paper to the board, I wet the paper with a bit of water and then added watercolor paint on top. I let the paints blend into each other to create a transition of the three colors. Once everything dried completely, I removed the tape and was left with this:
Next, I put the paper into a stamp positioner and stamped my floral design on top using black Versafine ink. When the ink was completely dry, I added white highlights with a white gel pen:
To finish the card, I attached a black thank you tab on top.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
