Layering Stencils
by Laura Fulcher

Greetings friends. Today I want to talk about the Cheerful Floral Stencil set I used to create this card. I must confess that I used the picture that came with the stencil to choose what colors to use. I tend to follow a recipe as closely as I can the first time I make it and then try new adaptions the next time I make something. The same is true with this stencil. I think the next time I use it, I will experiment with new color variations and possibilities.

To make the card, I used my stamp positioner and sticky mat to hold everything in place. I put down a piece of cream cardstock and then placed the open area of the stencil on top:

I used the open areas to get an idea of where to start placing the stencils. The set comes with picture instructions for each step and each of the stencil pieces was labeled so that you could find the correct one.

Here is the first few steps where I built up the pink rose:

I rather enjoyed the process because it was fun building a scene without having to all the design planning. Here is a close up of the layered pieces. You can tell that even if your stencils are a smidge off, it doesn't affect the overall look of the bouquet:

To finish the card, I used one of the foil greetings tabs. I have been needing a lot of thank you cards lately.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
