Just a Note with Exquisite Butterflies
by Angie Cimbalo

1

Hello there, it's Angie here today with a mini slimline card featuring the new Exquisite Butterflies die 94771, just released this month.  I also used some patterned paper from the new release called Glimmering Gladiola Paper Pad PP1028.  The sentiment was released last month and it's called Just a Note Daily Script die set 94663.  It's a really nice sentiment that has 3 parts that are cut with 2 dies.  A background die plus a 2nd die that cuts the outline of the words and also individual letters inside the outline, so there are many ways to use this sentiment die.  Here's a close up of my card:

Close

Another really cool feature about the butterfly die is that it is just one die but it cuts all the parts for all five butterflies.  It's great because you don't have to try to keep up with tiny metal dies or lose them while your are doing your die cutting.   As you can see below, some of the butterflies have center bug parts and the smaller ones don't, so I added a jewel to those centers for some shine!

Here's one last look at my card:

I hope you have had a chance to check out all the lovely gladiola dies and papers that were released by Memory Box this month.  They are truly gorgeous and go well with these butterflies that were also just released.  Thanks for stopping by!

Fanciful, Whimsical Gladiola Wishes by Jean Okimoto

Fanciful Gladiola Stem's blossoms and Whimsical Gladiola's leaves create a floral birthday greeting for spring or summer celebrations.  Hi, Jean here with quick coloring technique for detailed designs.

P1033381

Save time by stenciling the pieces before diecutting them.  Spritz the smoother side of watercolor paper with a light mist of water. Pressure-emboss it using the rubber embossing mat and plates required for your machine.  Diecut a stencil from cardstock.

Tape the stencil over the embossed designs and sponge or brush the petals and stems.  VersaFine Clair Verdant and Cheerful and Brilliance Sunflower Yellow inks were used here.  Mask the adjacent areas with a Post-It note to separate the colors.  Heat-set the inks, then diecut all of the pieces.  Pre-embossing makes it easier to color the raised areas - and to align the die over the pieces for diecutting later.  Trust me!

Sponge or brush Verdant ink onto smooth white cardstock and cut two small and one large leaf set from the Whinsical Gladiola.

Assemble the Fanciful Gladiola Stem.  The green stem partially covers the yellow stem for instant buds and dimension.  I followed some portions of the diagram - and rearranged some pieces for more color variation.

Glue two pieces of smooth white cardstock together and diecut it with the 3-¼" Circle Basics die.  Cut it again - slightly offset - with the 3" Circle Basics die.  Attach both pieces - offset again - to a top-folded white A2 card.

Attach the Fanciful Gladiola Stem and Whimsical Gladiola leaves.  Add a Happy Birthday White Circle Greeting Tab and gold Treasure Chest Gemstones.  Cut an A2-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Thanks for visiting our blog...see you again in May!

Exquisite Butterflies Visit the Fanciful Gladiola Stem
by Anne Thompson

Here's another yellow gladiola card!  This time I used the Fanciful Gladiola Stem to lure in the Exquisite Butterflies!

IMG_3085 (1)

I used three of the plaids from GLADIOLA PLAID PP1027--one yellow plaid for the card background as well as another yellow plaid and an orange one for the EXQUISITE BUTTERFLIES 94771.

IMG_3090 (1)

I started this card by making the Exquisite Butterflies.  I cut them first from a yellow plaid and then from the orange one.  When I assembled them I put the yellow images underneath the orange ones and added a little bit of VersaFine Clair Acorn brown ink to the butterfly bodies.

IMG_3092 (1)

Then I die cut the FANCIFUL GLADIOLA STEM 94791 from yellow card stock in the SUNRISE COLLECTION SP1013 and cut it again using a green card stock from GREENERY SP1011.  I added a little bit of Hero Arts Butter Bar Ink to the blossoms.  I used the envelope to help me assemble the stem (and even then I still had a few tiny pieces leftover--I think if I had cut the die again from an orange card stock I could have figured out where all the tiny pieces would fit to accent the larger blooms).  A glue pen and tweezers were helpful tools.

IMG_3093 (1)

To assemble the card, I started with a blank white top-fold note card and added the 5 1/4 X 4 yellow plaid paper to the front.  Next I glued on the completed Fanciful Gladiola Stem.  I then used tiny foam dimensional dots to add the three largest butterflies and glued on the smallest one.  I left the wing layers so that I could fold them up a bit for more dimension.  The last thing I did was to glue on one of the HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOIL GREETINGS WHITE TABS ST006.

IMG_3095 (1)

This card could have been a thank you one by using a different foil greeting tab or I could have stamped on an appropriate sentiment for whatever occasion I chose.  So many options with these lovely dies from the 2024 Gladiola Collection.

Happy Crafting!

Gladiola Globe Thank You
by Trina Pham

IMG_5874

Hello everyone.  I have a straight forward thank you card today featuring three of the beautiful Gladiola dies from the current 2024 Gladiola release.

All flower and foliage pieces were die cut from white paper and the respective pieces were ink blended with gradient colors of dye inks in pinks and greens.  For some sparkle, added clear shimmer to the flowers/buds then put them together.

IMG_5875

Used the Nested Globes dies next to die cut an opening from a white woodgrain panel and a frame from Bristol paper.  To give the background through the opening dimension, the Pointy Lattice Plate from Poppy Stamps was die cut from white and adhered directly onto the white card base. Assembled the card and added the Thank You Foil Greeting white tab to finish.

IMG_5876

That does it for my card today.  Thank you for joining me.  Have a wonderful day.

Gladiola Slimline Thank You by Jean Okimoto

Need a special thank you card?  Express your appreciation with a shimmery, sparkly floral design from our latest collection.  Add blooming Gladiola Floral Duo diecuts to an extended Budding Gladiola Stem and layer them on a slimline card.  Hi, Jean here with a thank you card that grew taller and taller as it progressed - like gladiolas!

Add a light mist of Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz to the dark pink/coral Blush Collection 6x6.  The new solid-core 110# sheets and Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz create vibrant customized metallic cardstock in a rainbow of colors.  Let it airdry for a few minutes, then heatset it.

Cut the spritzed cardstock with with Gladiola Floral Duo and the stem portion of Budding Gladiola Stem.  The buds on the stem will be visible - and we'll cover the other sections with dark gray cardstock diecuts and a long, skinny strip.

Cut the remaining Budding Gladiola Stem pieces and the leaves from dark gray cardstock - leave the little pieces in the die so they'll be easy to identify and attach later.  Cut a narrow dark gray strip to create a longer stem - approximately ⅛" x 6-½".

Trim the pale peach Blush Collection 6x6 with the 1-⅜" wide Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  The die is longer than the 6x6 - but diecutting eliminates measuring and wonky rectangles which are really noticeable on slimline cards.   Attach the spritzed stem to the rectangle.  Attach the dark gray pieces - except the one at the top - to create buds.  Add the narrow gray strip so it creates a stem that extends about ½" below the rectangle.  Add the dark gray piece at the top.  Attach the leaves.

Cut two sets of the Gladiola Floral Duo stamens and remove one section from one of the pairs.  Assemble the Gladiola Floral Duo blossoms - I like to attach the petals to a small scrap of cardstock for easy assembly and arrangement.

Cut the Gladiola Plaid 6x6 with the same Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Attach the diecuts to a cream slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½") - use foam tape for the upper glossom.

Add a Thank You Foil Greetings Black Circle Tab.  It's a quick and easy way to complete a very detailed card!  These versatile heavyweight circle tabs are available in black/gold and white/gold - 36 tabs, 4 each of 9 typefaces.

Thanks for visiting...have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Birthday Card
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_8241

Hello everyone!  Once again, today's card features products from the new 2024 Gladiola Release.

I began by die cutting the Celeste Plate from one of the foil papers from the new Glimmering Gladiola paper pads.  I glued that to a black cardstock mat, and adhered it to a white card base.

I die cut the Whimsical Gladiola from white cardstock, and used Distress Ink to add color to the die cuts.

Flowers: Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick and Festive Berries

Leaves: Peeled Paint and Forest Moss

Once the die cuts were dry, I glued them together and used foam tape to adhere it to a white cardstock panel that I spattered with gold and black ink.  That panel was glued to a gold metallic cardstock mat and adhered to the card front.

IMG_8240

To finish the card, I adhered a Happy Birthday Circle Tab to the card, and that's it!

I hope you were inspired by today's card!  Thanks for stopping by!

Gladiola Thank You Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  My daughter is graduating this Sumer and I need a lot of thank you cards.  I will have several thank you card designs over the next few weeks.  Using the Thank You Greeting Tabs and a flower die as a focal point makes it easy to create individual design cards.

85B81EE5-8EB8-40B8-A47E-1EF75315BE41_1_201_a

Background:

Select a lighter peachy color paper  from the Blush Solid Core pack and trim to 4" x 5 1/2".  Heat emboss with a gold embossing powder using the Cheerful Floral clear stamp set.  Ink blend with Distress Oxide Tattered Rose around the outside half way in.  Then ink blend with Tea Dye staying towards the edges. Finally ink blend the edge of the card with Scorched Timber.  Die cut heavy weight vellum using the 3rd smallest die from the Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangle.  Position the die cut back in the edge of the die to cut to the length of 5 1/2" tall, keeping the width the same.

Flower:

Die cut the Sensational Gladiola Stem fro white card stock.  Ink blend the petals with Distress Oxide Tattered Rose, shedding heavy at the bottom and light on the top.  Ink blend the buds heavy. Leave the tops of the petals white.  Ink blend the stems using Distress Oxide Bundled Sage and then lightly with Scorched Timber.  Adhere the flowers together following the image on the front of the envelope.

415E4983-FD09-4616-AB6F-0ADFC66701B7_1_201_a

Bird:

Die cut the Layered Hummingbird from heavy white card stock.  Ink blend the body of the bird very lightly with Distress Oxide Tea Dye.  Ink blend the eye using Tattered Rose and then Tea Dye.  Ink blend the beak/eye using Scorched Timber.  The head and wings use Bundled Sage and darken using Scorched Timber.  Adhere together using the envelope as a guide.  Add black gel pen to the eye.

Assembly:

Adhere the background to the center of a A2 card panel then to a white A2 size card.  Adhere the flowers to the center of the vellum die cut panel.  Then adhere to the left side of the card.  Adhere a Thank You Foil Greeting Black Tab.

Whimsical Gladiola and Upcycled Offcuts by Jean Okimoto

P1033244

Remember those saved offcuts from the April 19th card shown at the left here?

P1033273

Use the purple rectangles and the reverse side of the lavender floral rectangles to create a birthday card with the new Whimsical Gladiola.  It's a day-after-Earth-Day paperscraps celebration!  Hi, Jean here with a design featuring the extra pieces from last Friday's design.

P1033203 3

Cut the petals and background stem (with the pointy top and two large petals near the bottom) from a lavender Twilight Purple Collection 6x6.  Cut the 4 big leaf sections and the other stem from a green 6x6 in the Leafy Collection.

Highlight and add dimension to the accent diecuts by pressing them onto a clean VersaMark inkpad and - using tweezers - carefully heat-embossing them with detail clear powder.  They'll be glossy and slightly darker than their original colors - and there's no need to find the "right" ink colors for shading.

Assemble the gladiola - glue the green stem over the lavender stem - instant buds!  Then attach the other petals.

P1033248

Build the background with the extra offcuts from my previous card.  If you don't have those pieces, cut the Glimmering Gladiola 6x6 print and a dark purple Twilight Purple Collection 6x6 with the die from the Vintage Tray 3D Embossing Folder Set.

Attach the offcuts to a white A6 card (4-½" x 6-¼").  Add an instant greeting with a Happy Birthday Foil Greetings White Circle Tab.  Add a little more sparkle with green-gray Treasure Chest Fairy Gemstones.  Cut an A6-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Here's a link for the Glimmering Gladiola 6x6 set -

Budding Gladiola Stem Birthday
by Trina Pham

IMG_5784

Hello everyone.  I am sharing another super quick CAS (clean and simple) card today, but without the drama. 😂  It features the new Budding Gladiola Stem die from the current 2024 Gladiola release.

The Budding Gladiola Stem was die cut twice from red Blush and green Greenery color papers.  Ink blended the respective pieces with Lumberjack Plaid and Rustic Wilderness distress inks for dimension.  Glued the layers together to form the flowers and foliage.

IMG_5785

The white woodgrain background panel was scored at 3/4” intervals.   Added three gold cords across the panel, then adhered the flowers and foliage.  Attached the foiled circle greeting tab on top to finish.

That does it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Gladiola Floral Duo (plus one)
by Anne Thompson

I'm back with more yellowy glads--this time using the Gladiola Floral Duo to create three blossoms for a pretty "happy birthday to you" card.

IMG_3057 (1)

materials used

IMG_3052 (1)

  • I used a side-fold horizontal card white card base.
  • I chose a piece of the gold print paper trimmed to 4 by 5 1/4 from the GLIMMERING GLADIOLA PAPER PAD PP1028 and added it to the front of the note card.
  • I selected a coordinating yellow paper from the SUNRISE CARD STOCK COLLECTION SP1013, trimmed that to 1 1/2 X 5 1/4 and added that band near the top of the note card.
  • I stamped the greeting "happy birthday to you" on that band, combining two stamps ("happy" and "birthday to you") from the BOLD CHEERFUL FLORAL CLEAR STAMP SET CL5279 (also available with coordinating dies CL5279D) and using VersaFine Clair Acorn ink.
  • I cut the GLADIOLA FLORAL DUO 94793 twice from watercolor paper.  I used a fingertip dauber and Hero Arts Butter Bar ink to color the flower petal pieces and Memento Rich Cocoa for the stamens.
  • After auditioning them on the card front, I chose to use only three of the flowers I made (rather than four) and bent the edges of the petals for a bit more dimension.
  • I placed the three gladiola blossoms on the note card using dimensional foam dots.

IMG_3056 (1)

This design would work for many occasions--just change up the sentiment, the papers, the flower colors--so many combinations are possible!  Happy Crafting!
