Wishing You JOY for the New Year
by Anne Thompson

As I was thinking about this post and what kind of a card I might make, it began to snow.   And it has snowed most of the day though it hasn't accumulated very much.  So of course I had to use the Snow Flurries Stencil!

IMG_2727 (1)

I started with the last piece of card stock I had left in my FRESH AQUA SP1004 paper pad.  I used the SNOW FLURRIES STENCIL 88626 and my Craft Decor Chalk Writer to make the snowflakes and set them with the heat gun.  I trimmed that piece to 4 X 5 1/4 and added it to the front of a top fold note card.

IMG_2720 (1)

I die cut the WINTER TREE ARCH 94735 using one of the green plaid papers from WOODSY PLAID PP1018 and then cut it again from white card stock.  I layered the white image on top of the plaid, offset just a bit.  I added that to the front of the note card.

IMG_2721 (1)

I used scraps of the plaid and the white card stock to cut out the PINE TREE GROVE 94736.  I layered those with the plaid underneath the white image, offset a bit, and added those trees to the lower left edge of the Winter Tree Arch on the note card.

IMG_2723 (1)

I cut BRILLIANT JOY 94759 background twice from another scrap of the green plaid paper and glued those two layers together.  I cut the detailed JOY twice from white card stock, glued them together, and then glued the letters onto the background.  I added the sentiment to the card front overlapping the pine trees a bit.

On this New Year's Eve I wish you all a joy-filled year to come, one with lots of love and laughter, good friends and good health, and plenty of time for crafting!  Happy 2024!

Snowy Happy New Year

Main

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with a snow filled Happy New Year card!  This time of year is very special for my family as we have several family birthdays during the last week of every year - it's time to celebrate!

To make my card I first took a piece of red cardstock and the new "Snow Flurries stencil" and used some white embossing paste with it to create the falling snow background.  Here's a look at that step.

Process

Once it dried, I added thin strips of white glitter paper to the edges.  Next I cut the 2 snowflake dies from the "Aurora" snowflake die set from the same white glitter paper.  The paper is from the "Delicate Pastel Glitter Paper" pad.

I also cut 3 more of the snowflake background from white cardstock and glued them behind the glitter one.  I added the glitter top layer of snowflake to the glitter stack and then popped it up on the card front.  I heat embossed the sentiment from clear stamp set called "Sweet Christmas," onto black cardstock and then trimmed it to a small rectangle.  To finish my card I added lots of "Christmas Jewels" to the snowflake and the corners of the sentiment.

Here's one last look:

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and wish you the happiest of new years!  Welcome 2024!

Thanks for stopping by!

Need thank you cards for holiday gifts?  Create winter thank-yous with Memory Box holiday designs like the Perfect Poinsettias  3D Embossing Folder and Cutting Dies.

Hi, Jean here - moving from bright reds and greens to soft winter pastel pinks on a glossy double-embossed design. Snowflakes, poinsettias, birds, polar bears or snowmen would be great on holiday thank you cards!

Heat-embossing the pressure-embossed design darkens the background and details - adding gloss, contrast and dimension.  The remaining sections retain their original matte light pink color. Yellow ink highlights the centers.

Cut a piece of textured pink cardstock to fit into the Perfect Poinsettia 3D Embossing Folder.  We'll emboss the smoother side of the cardstock to contrast the textured card.

Place the open folder on a hard, flat surface and use a soft rubber brayer to ink the top half of the folder with VersaMark (from a clean, juicy inkpad).  Brayer the ink horizontally, vertically and diagonally - be sure the leafy bottom half of the design is well-inked.  Heat-emboss the entire design with detail clear powder.  Switch the heat-tool off several times during the process so it doesn't overheat.

Cut completely cooled design with the approximately 3-¾" x 5" Rectangle Basics die.  Trim the corners with a corner-rounding punch.

Punch a ¼" hole from scrap paper and stencil the centers with Pearlescent Yellow Brilliance ink.  Or Sunflower Yellow for a brighter look.  Move the stencil around a bit so they're not perfect circles.  Heat-set the yellow ink.  Run the heat-tool briefly over the edges of the embossed rectangle to eliminate any rough spots or corners.

Stamp the greeting - from the Big and Little Reverse Words Clear Stamp and Die Set - on the smoother side of the pink cardstock with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair.  Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.  Trim it with the die that's included in the set.

Round the corners of a textured pink A6 card (4-½" x 6-¼").  Attach the diecuts to the card.  Add clear Christmas Fairy Crystals.  Cut an A6-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

We appreciate your support and enjoy the beautiful Memory Box designs you post on social media throughout the year - thank you!

Holiday wishes of peace, love and joy from Memory Box to everyone celebrating today!  Hi, Jean here with a mix-and-match holiday greeting.  The ornament trio combines classic favorites, Christmas '23, and some extras from Poppystamps and Birch Press Design.

The sweet Layered Hummingbird - with a few alterations and minimal layering - becomes a peace dove here.  He's perched on a Birch Press Design diecut that (I hope!) resembles a young olive branch.

Cut the Frilling Snowflake Ornament background from three shades of green cardstock.  Punch holes at the top and attach gold cord.  Curl the cord with the side of the flower burnishing tool or a bonefolder - follow the curve of the cord for best results.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to white wool-blend felt and cut the main section of Layered Hummingbird.  Cut the top of the head/beak section from orange cardstock.  Color the eye area with a black marker.  Attach it behind the felt diecut, then trim the long hummingbird's beak to resemble a dove's beak.  Cut two of the big wings from a white Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad sheet.  Trim the little point from one wing. Attach the wings.

Cut the branch - from the Birch Press Design Jovial Blooms and Leaves Contour Layers set - from darker green cardstock.

Cut the Poppystamps Heart Jumble hearts from the red Glitzy Glitter Pad sheet.

Cut the largest Alpine Snowflake from the white Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad sheet.

Glue two pieces of white cardstock together and diecut them with the 2" x 7" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-⅝"  8-½") - use foam tape for the bird.  Stamp the greeting - from the Shining Star Clear Stamp Set - on lime green cardstock with Green Oasis VersaFine Clair.  Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.  Trim it with one end of the 1.1" x 6.1" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die, then trim the excess with an edge of a larger die.

Attach the greeting with foam tape.  Add red Christmas Fairy Dewdrops.  Cut a slimline-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Thanks for visiting our blog - see you again tomorrow!

Merry Christmas Eve
by Anne Thompson

Here's another card that uses several patterned papers which has been my December focus.

IMG_2717 (1)

Start by covering the front of a white note card, fold at the top,  with one of the GARLAND PP1010 papers and orient it so that the floral spray will be in the lower left corner.  I chose one with poinsettias for the corner.

IMG_2714 (1)

Die cut the VINTAGE TRAY DIE (comes with the 3D Embossing Folder) EF1040 from red card stock.  Glue this to the front of the note card on top of the floral paper.

Die cut the Vintage Tray Die again from a coordinating plaid paper--I used one from JOLLY CHRISTMAS PP1019.  Take the largest rectangle plaid piece and insert it into the largest rectangular opening in the frame.

IMG_2715 (1)

Die cut the detailed "Merry Christmas" from more of the red card stock using the MERRY CHRISTMAS CHARMED SCRIPT DIE 94749.  Use a glue pen to add this to the plaid block.

IMG_2712 (1)

Die cut the LAYERED EVERGREEN TREES 94751 from two of the Jolly Christmas green plaids and add them to the card front.

IMG_2718 (1)

Add a red Fairy Jewel to dot the i in "Christmas" and yellow ones to the centers of the poinsettias.  I used ones from JWL004 AUTUMN FAIRY JEWELS.

IMG_2717 (1)

Because of the amount of white space the frame creates, this design would also make a wonderful large tag with plenty of room for To and From and even a brief message.  In fact, that is probably exactly what I'll do with this card--use it as a giant tag on a gift.

Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate.  And Happy Change of the Season to all of us who are celebrating the lengthening moments of daylight from now on.  No snow in Maine for Christmas this year--we're still mopping up from rain and major flooding and warming up from several days without power.  We've had crews from all over the United States and Canada here since the power went out on Monday and hopefully the last 1200 or so people will have their power restored by this evening.  It has been quite a week.

I'll be back with the last card of this year on the last day of this year!

Carved Wood Poinsettias
by Trina Pham

IMG_4092

Hello everyone.  Two more sleeps till Christmas and I have another Christmas card to share today. 😂  It’s a rustic masculine poinsettia card created with the Carved Wood technique using the Perfect Poinsettias 3D embossing folder (EF) from the current 2023 Christmas collection.  I saw this technique years ago, but this recent video HERE inspired me to finally give it a try.

Started with a white panel from my stash and three gradient brown color dye ink pads.  Scored the panel vertically at 1/2-inch intervals, then dragged the lightest color ink pad direct-to-paper down the length of the panel several times until satisfied with the faux woodgrain look.  BTW, the ink pads should be the felt type (like the distress inks) and not the foam ones.

IMG_4098

Spritz the back of the panel with water, then placed it into the EF on the flat side with the faux wood pattern facing up and ran it through the die cutting machine.  The image will be debossed, resulting in the reverse image being pushed in.  It’s barely visible in the photo below.

IMG_4094

So to reveal the “carved” image, repeated the direct-to-paper ink pad dragging step with the medium and darkest color ink pads.  Oops, I went a bit heavier handed than I would like.  Doesn’t it looked carved?

IMG_4095

The panel was then trimmed down slightly smaller than A2 size and matted onto dark brown cardstock.  Added the Merry Christmas Foil Greetings Rose Tab for a pop of color.

IMG_4096

Used the Poinsettia Stem die to die cut the poinsettia centers from gold mirror paper.  Assembled and mounted the card onto a white card base to finish.

IMG_4097
That does it for me this year.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a happy holiday!  See you next year.

Simple Poinsettia Slimline by Jean Okimoto

Here's a simple slimline version of Poinsettia Rub On designs spotlighted on diecut circles.  Accent it with a bright rose-colored  Foil Greeting Tab, Fairy Crystals and Jewels.  Hi, Jean here with a quick design that would also work for holiday thank-you cards with a stamped or diecut greeting.

MemoryBoxPoinsettiaRubOns, MemoryBoxCircleBasics, MemoryBoxSlimBasicRectangleLayers, MemoryBoxChristmasFairyCrystals, MemoryoBoxBrightJewels, MemoryBoxMerryChristmasFoilGreetingTabs, JeanOkimoto, SlimlineCards, RubOnTransfers, HandmadeHolidayCards, CardmakingIdeas, DiecutCards, PoinsettiaCards, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Cut smooth white cardstock with the 2.25", 2.5" and 3" Circle Basics dies. I keep my Basics dies organized on shower curtain rings from a fabric or home store.

Cut the Poinsettia Rub Ons - leave a generous border around each design.  Carefully remove the paper liner.  Gently tap the design onto the circles.  Place it between two pieces of printer paper and run it through a diecut machine using the plates you'd use for diecutting.  Carefully remove the frosty plastic liner.

Cut the smoother side of pink textured cardstock with the  2.25" x 7.25" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.

Attach the diecuts to a pink slimline card (8-⅝" x 3-⅝").  Trim slightly less than ⅛" from the short ends of a Merry Christmas Foil Greetings Rose (colored) Tab.  Attach the greeting with foamtape.  Greeting Tabs are great for last-minute and/or mass-produced cards.  You'll appreciate the versatile set of 40 tabs - 4 each of 10 typefaces.

Add yellow Bright Jewels to the center of the poinsettia.  Add green Christmas Fairy Crystals for extra sparkle.  Cut a slimline-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Poinsettia Rub Ons have a natural watercolored look and are great for gift tags or holiday treat wrappers too.

Thanks for visiting our blog.  Have a very Merry Christmas if you're celebrating on Monday!

Merry Christmas Card
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_7421

Hello everyone!  It's hard to believe Christmas is almost here!

To make today's card, I began by die cutting the Aurora Snowflake Frame from white cardstock and adhering it to a white card base.

Next, I die cut the Pine Needle Frame and the one of the Small Poinsettia Layers from green cardstock.  I used Mowed Lawn Distress ink to deepen the color of the green cardstock.  I glued the Pine Needle Frame on top of the Aurora Snowflake background.

The Nested Chickadee was die cut from white, black and kraft cardstock.  I used brown Distress Ink to deepen the color on the wings and add a soft color to the belly of the bird.  I used a orange copic marker to color the beak of the bird.  I assembled the bird and glued it in place on the card.

IMG_7422

The Merry Christmas was die cut from red cardstock and then glued to the white cardstock shadow die cut.  I used foam tape to adhere it to the card.

To finish the card, I glued a twine bow to the top left hand corner of the card and glued the green leaves and red fairy crystals on top of the bow.

That's it for today!  I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Vintage Lantern Merry Christmas
by Angie Cimbalo

Stenciling

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with a glittery Christmas card featuring the newly released Vintage Lantern die and the Starlight Snow stencil.  I also used previously released Pine Needle Frame die along with Glitzy Glitter Paper Pad.  Here's a close look at the stenciling I did with Champagne Mist Deco Foil Metallix Gel.

Stenciling

After using the paste/gel on the blue cardstock, I set it aside to dry and then took 2 pieced of gold glitter paper and cut the lantern and pine frame from them.  I inked a separate small piece of white card stock with blue inks to put behind the lantern.  Here's a close up look at the shine from that glitter paper:

Stenciling

I added the pieces of the lantern to build it up and then glued it to the inked background and cut off the excess.  Next I glued the frame around the stenciled panel and popped up the lantern on foam tape.  To finish my card I added one of the white sentiment tabs that were also released just recently.

Here's one last look at my card:

Stenciling

I hope you like my glittery card for today.  I loved creating it and can't wait to send it to someone special!

Thanks for stopping by!
