Hello everyone. Two more sleeps till Christmas and I have another Christmas card to share today. 😂 It’s a rustic masculine poinsettia card created with the Carved Wood technique using the Perfect Poinsettias 3D embossing folder (EF) from the current 2023 Christmas collection. I saw this technique years ago, but this recent video HERE inspired me to finally give it a try.
Started with a white panel from my stash and three gradient brown color dye ink pads. Scored the panel vertically at 1/2-inch intervals, then dragged the lightest color ink pad direct-to-paper down the length of the panel several times until satisfied with the faux woodgrain look. BTW, the ink pads should be the felt type (like the distress inks) and not the foam ones.
Spritz the back of the panel with water, then placed it into the EF on the flat side with the faux wood pattern facing up and ran it through the die cutting machine. The image will be debossed, resulting in the reverse image being pushed in. It’s barely visible in the photo below.
So to reveal the “carved” image, repeated the direct-to-paper ink pad dragging step with the medium and darkest color ink pads. Oops, I went a bit heavier handed than I would like. Doesn’t it looked carved?
The panel was then trimmed down slightly smaller than A2 size and matted onto dark brown cardstock. Added the Merry Christmas Foil Greetings Rose Tab for a pop of color.
Used the Poinsettia Stem die to die cut the poinsettia centers from gold mirror paper. Assembled and mounted the card onto a white card base to finish.
That does it for me this year. Thank you for joining me today. Have a happy holiday! See you next year.
