A poinsettia, plaid, woodgrain and gold-embossed leaves create a collage-y holiday design in shades of pink. It sounds like a lot - and it is - but they somehow work together. Hi, Jean here with my new favorite Vintage Tray 3D Embossing Folder & Die Set - and a few cardmaking tips too.
The first tip - you've probably already seen this online, but it's the first time I've ever used PressN'Seal. Cut pink cardstock with the die from Vintage Tray set and leave everything in the die. Press a piece of PressN'Seal behind the diecuts and pull everything out together. Place it all into the Vintage Tray folder and emboss it with the plate(s) required for your machine. It's a lot easier than arranging the diecuts on the folder and hoping they won't shift. Cut first, then emboss for a more defined design.
Cut the Poinsettia Plaid 6x6 and gold-embossed leaf print from the Poinsettia Garland pack with the tray die. You'll have a lot of extra pieces for other projects.
Cut the Poinsettia Stem set from both pink and green cardstock. We're just using the pieces shown above. Color the narrow pink accent strips with a pink marker to resemble upturned edges, attach them to the petals. Use two of the big pink "leaves" to add fullness. Use the green double-petal diecut for slender leaves. The Poinsettia Stem set is designed to let us create different looks - from buds to blooms.
Another tip - wondering why the Circle Basics set is in the photo? Cut dark pink cardstock (the same color as the woodgrain background) with the 1" Circle Basics die. Use it as a "base" to adhere and assemble the blossom instead of glueing the petals to the background. That also makes it easier to position the poinsettia and add the stem and leaves.
Cut the tiny poinsettia center sections from the gold Majestic Hues Glitter Pad. Assemble the poinsettia - use foam tape for the big petals and one lengthwise half of each leaf.
Attach the diecuts to a natural A6 card (4.5" x 6 .25") - use foam tape for the poinsettia block. Add gold Treasure Chest Fairy Gemstones. Cut an A6-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.
Many bits and pieces here...hope you like the results! Thanks for visiting the blog - see you again tomorrow...
