Christmas Gift Tags
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I enjoy making gift tags for the holiday season.  Having a smaller space to work with help with creativity for me.  There are a lot of smaller dies in this year release that are perfect sized for gift tags.

Tag Bas.

I used a trimmer that cuts at a 45 degree angle to create the base tag. The tag is 2 3/4" wide and 4 1/2" tall and then the upper corners are cut at a 45 degree angle.  Select and trim the front and back to the base size. I used white card stock to create the first one with the trimmer and then fussy cut the rest of the tags by using temporary tape to hold in place while cutting on the angle for the rest.  For the front panels I used the Poinsettia Garland pattern paper.  I chose papers with subtle backgrounds.  then ink blended the sides with a darker ink then the paper.

Focal points:

For the brown tags I used the Poinsettia Stem die and Vintage Lantern and die cut out of white card stock.  Ink blended the flower with Lumberjack Plaid and Ketch Flamingo.  The stem and leaves where Pealed Paint and Rustic Wilderness.  I did add a little Vintage Photo to darken up some areas of the leaves.  The center was Squeezed Lemon Aide and Mustard Seed.  The lantern was colored first with black then Gilded Foundry Wax.  Then it was too bright and toned it down with Antiqued Bronze Distress Crayon and rubbed in with my finger.  I then added some shading using a black Distess Crayon applying it with a damp paint brush.  The candle I used watercolor markers in a light yellow and orange for the flame and a tope and light olive green for the base.

For the aqua tags I kept is simpler.  I used the Aurora Snowflake die cut in white card stock and left it as is.  For the last tag I used the Classic Pair of Ice Skates. Die cut from white and the blade out of silver from the Vintage Pastel Mirror pad.  I ink blended the boot portion with Fresh Ink Silicone Blue around the outside edge. The base I ink blended with Vintage Photo Distress ink.  I used a matching embroidery floss and a needle to thread up the skates and to hang from the top of the tag.

Assembly:

On the white backs I stamped To and From from the Birch Press Designs Glide Tidings clear stamp set.  I adhered the front to the back.  Then punched the hole in the center top. I added the focal points and a sentiment with the new Rose and White Greeting tabs.  Tied some gold ribbon through the hole.

These are mini works of art, so adorable!

All the dies are lovely, the lantern one is my favorite, though!
