The new Vintage Tray joins classic sparkly snowflakes and a new snowman for a winter mix of something old, something new and something blue. Hi, Jean here with another idea featuring the versatile Vintage Tray and 3D Embossing Folder and Die set that's quickly become a favorite.
There are so many ways to use this great folder and die set. Save the 5 rectangle offcuts - they're great for layering. Diecut a stencil too - it's perfect for contemporary and abstract designs.
Spritz both sides of heavy white cardstock with a light mist of water. Emboss it with the Vintage Tray 3D Embossing folder. Trim it slightly smaller than an A2 card.
Cut aqua cardstock with the tray die from the set
Cut Layered Friendly Snowman from heavy white cardtock. Attach a scrap of black cardstock behind his eyes. Sponge or brush the pieces with Distress Oxides. Colors used here are salvaged patina, festive berries, frayed burlap and ripe persimmon.
Here's a tip...add a little dimension for shaded diecuts using just a single color. Ink the layering pieces with Festive Berries or Iced Spruce, dry the ink, then darken the background diecut with another layer of ink for color-matched shady contrast.
Cut the solid Merry Christmas Jolly Script background from red cardstock. Cut the delicate top outline from heavy white cardstock - save the little pieces to attach inside the letters e and a. Assemble the greeting.
Cut Feathery Snowflake Discs from the blue Delicate Pastels Glitter Pad 6x6 sheet - we're using just the delicate inner diecut here, save the outer circles for another project. Cut two of the smallest snowflake.
Another tip...easily remove delicate snowflakes by gently wiggling the outer edges of the circles away from the snowflakes instead of trying to pull the snowflakes out.
Attach everything to a side-folded white A2 card. Add orange Bright Jewels for the snowman's buttons. Cut an A2-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.
Thanks for visiting...have fun creating cards this weekend!

What “sandwich” did you use to cut and to emboss the 3D Vintage Tray? It seems too thick for anything I have tried. Or too thin without base plate. I have a Big Shot machine.

Used my favorite old/discontinued Teal Grand Calibur machine with the base plate, 3D Vintage Tray Embossing Folder and the tan rubber embossing mat. The old-style metal shims aren't flexible enough for the embossing folders.
Haven't tried it with a Big Shot- but please don't try to force anything thru the machine if it feels too thick.
