Just Because
by Theary Chea

Hello! It's Theary here back on the blog again today. I am sharing a card I created using the mini Gracious Floral Release. IMG_3603 (1)

I began by stamping the large floral image from Gracious Floral CL5280 onto a white A2 cardstock. I stamped it once on the upper left-hand side, then rotated the paper to stamp it on the opposite side of the cardstock.
IMG_3603 (1)

I used coordinating stencils Gracious Floral 88620, distress oxide inks, and blending brushes to ink each stencil layer on the card panel. Once the floral stamped image was inked nicely, I placed the positive piece of the floral stencil over the colored image to mask off that area. Then, going in with a blending brush and a dark shade of ink, I blended the background scene.

IMG_3603

I created a border using Rectangle Double Border MBF006 with rose gold glimmer foil sheets. I like how the details added interest to the card design.

I stamped out a sentiment from Gracious Floral and cut that out using the coordinating dies. I adhered everything to a top folding card base and added white details using a white gel pen.

And that completes the card! I hope you found some inspiration today! Until next time.

Have a wonderfully blessed day,
Theary Chea

Haunting Witch Hat
by Trina Pham

IMG_1946

Hello everyone.  I have a simple Halloween card to share featuring the Large Layered Witch Hat die from the current 2023 Fall release.

The hat/shadow pieces were die cut from dark grey cardstock while the band was die cut from light grey cardstock.  For dimension, the hat/shadow pieces were shaded with dark grey and black dye inks using a detail foam blending tool.  Dimension for the band was achieved by die cutting it out a couple more times and stacking them together.  Assembled the hat then spritz with a shimmer spray for a bit of sparkle.

IMG_1947

The background is purple cardstock hot foiled with White Opaque hot foil and the Spiral hot foil plate using Spellbinders Glimmer hot foil machine.  To enhance the tunnel-like effect, the spotlight ink blending technique was done with Villainous Potion distress ink (DI) blended around the center (center left untouched) and Black Soot DI blended around the edges.  The sentiment was white heat embossed on black cardstock then fussy cut out.   Assembled the card onto a split black/white card base.  Added some purple Autumn Fairy Crystals to finish.

I can create Christmas cards any time of the year, but Halloween cards in July was a tough one for me. 😂   Thank you for joining me today.   Have a wonderful week.

Autumn Pumpkin Cards
by Angie Cimbalo

Turq main cloase

Hello!  Today I have two cards made with the newly released "Autumn Pumpkin" and "Layered Greenery Stem" dies sets from Memory Box.

My first card is in non-traditional fall colors as I made this card using some papers in my favorite shades.  I used "Delicate Pastel Glitter" paper pad along with the "Rainbow Reflections Mirror" paper pad and cut both sets of dies from the turquoise colors.  The greenery stems are cut so you can layer a dark and light on the right side or the left depending on the die.  This gives them lots of dimension.  Here's another look:

Turq main cloase

I didn't have the exact ink color to stamp the sentiment so I double stamped it using a green and a blue ink from my stash to get it as close as I could.  The sentiment is from a clear stamps set called "Halloween Pumpkins" also from Memory Box.  I finished this card by adding a few matching gems.  Here's one last look:

Now for my 2nd card I used a more traditional color palette.  This time I used the following paper pads:
"Rainbow Reflections"
"Sunny Days" and
"Lush Green"

I also used the Hot Foil plate "Rectangle Double Border" as a die to cut the thin black border frame.

I used both larger and smaller gems and jewels in fall colors and stamped the sentiment from the same "Halloween Pumpkins" stamp set in black ink.  Here's a closer look.

I layered the stem and leaves with the regular green card stock and the mirror card stock to give a cool effect.  Here's one last look.

I hope you like my cards for today and will check out this release.  There's some adorable dies you can use for fall and Halloween cards as well as everyday cards too.

Thanks for stopping by!

Update a familiar ghostly forest scene with the new Boiling Cauldron from the Fall '23 Collection.  The friendly ghosts are a safe distance from the bubbly pot!  Hi, Happy Friday - Jean here with another mix of favorite dies and new designs from our latest release.

Cut taupey-gray cardstock with the 3-¾" wide Curved Cap Pinpoint Layers die.  Cut it with the Ghosts in the Forest die.  Cut the ghosts from Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Attach scraps of black cardstock behind the eyes.  Attach a dot of the orange Glitzy Glitter 6x6 behind their mouths.

Cut Boiling Cauldron from the black Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Cut the bubbly cauldron rim and 4 loose bubbles from the orange Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  The loose bubbles became pumpkin lights to brighten the background here.  Cut the standing bubbles from the orange Glitzy Glitter 6x6.

Use a corner punch to round the top corners of a dark gray top-folded A2 card.  Attach the diecuts - prop the top of the ghosts up with foam dots so they'll lean forward.

Mixing, matching and layering "old" and just-released design elements is a great way to get the most mileage from your Memory Box stash and celebrate Halloween '23!

Thanks for visiting...have a great weekend!

Bubbling Cauldron
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_4240

Greetings friends. Memory Box has some new dies for the fall, and we think you will really like them. Don't forget to add some extra mirror or glitter paper for extra bling.

To make the card, I cut out the Fanciful Gilded Frame using purple glitter paper and then cut the die cut piece in half. The die covers a standard A2 card, but I wanted it for just the left side of the card.

For the cauldron, I cut out the base in black mirror paper and added some black glitter paper for the cauldron overflow. For the contents of the cauldron and the bubbles, I used green mirror paper.

It is hard to see all the different papers from the picture, so here is a close up:

To finish the card, I popped up my circle piece using some foam tape. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Pumpkin Carriage Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  A limited fall release is here!!!  It is an exciting day.  I took the new Autumn Pumpkin and Fanciful Gilded Frame dies and created a pumpkin carriage.  I also used the Majestic Achievements stamp set for the sentiment.  I have so many more ideas with the pumpkin carriage and this stamp set and the castle collage dies.  I wish there was more time in the day.

Pumpkin Carriage

Die but the leaves and vine portion of Autumn Pumpkin die from orange paper from the Rainbow Reflections Mirror pad. Die cut the Autumn Pumpkin from light orange card stock. Use a darker alcohol marker on the cut outlines and bottom and top of pumpkin.  Then lightly blend in.  I used Copic YR02.  To create the door opening, die cut the center of the pumpkin using the smallest die from Nested Globe dies.  Potion the top plate of your die cutting machine so it only cuts half way down then use a craft knife and ruler to cut the door out.    Die cut the smaller die from the nested Globe die set from the same orange mirror paper.  Reposition the die to cut cut out the bottom to look like the door.  Add tape to the bottom half of the door opening on the backside, sticky part forward, then add in the mirror door.  Die cut half of the Fanciful Gilded Fram from the same orange mirror paper.  Trim off the largest flourishes.  Adhere them to lower sides of the pumpkin to make it look like wheels.  Adhere the leaves and vine to the top of the pumpkin.

Background:

Die cut an oval from cream card stock using the 2nd to largest die from the Poppy Stamp Basic Ovals Set. Stamp the Mercer Rose Background stamp over all the oval using a gold ink pad.  Heat set dry.  Then rub the gold in pad around the outside edge of the die cut.

Sentiment:

Heat emboss May all your DREAMS come true sentiment from the Majestic Achievements using a copper embossing powder.  I have one from many, many years ago and don't think the company is in business any more.  But any copper or orange embossing powder will work.  Cut to size and edge with the same alcohol marker as used to shade the pumpkin.

Assembly:

Adhere the oval background to a A2 sized cream card base.  Adhere the pumpkin carriage to the center and the sentiment with foam tope under the pumpkin.

Floral Sympathy
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_4237

Greetings friends. Today I wanted to share a sympathy card I needed to make recently. They are always so hard to make, but I love the look of Memory Box solid florals on top of an inked background. It is a quick and easy way to design a card.

To make the card, I first sponged Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Festive Berries and Dusty Concord onto white cardstock:

IMG_4235

I then spritzed the whole thing with water to activate the ink:

IMG_4236

When it was dry, I cut out the piece with a rectangle die to layer it onto a standard A2 card.

For the flowers, I die cut them out of black cardstock and attached them to the card. I added the sentiment and then a few rhinestones that matched the colors of the ink.

I originally planned to have the yellow at the bottom and the purple at the top, but I realized that my message would show up much better on the yellow ink.

Thanks for stopping by!

Debossed Gracious Floral Thanks
by Anne Thompson

Experimentation continued in my craft room this week which resulted in a debossed image of the Gracious Floral and this thank you card.

IMG_1966 (1)-ink

to make this card

  • start with a plain white note card
  • cover the front with a green plaid paper from MAGNOLIA PLAID PP1021
  • ink the inside of the GRACIOUS FLORAL 3D EMBOSSING FOLDER EF1026 with VersaFine Clair Rain Forest (green) ink; put a piece of white card stock inside the folder and run it through your embossing machine to deboss the image which pushes it down rather than raising it up
  • color the Gracious Floral with colored pencils
  • trim it to 4 X 5 1/4; back it with a piece of black card stock trimmed closely
  • decide on the orientation of the card--I chose top-fold because of where I wanted to place the sentiment
  • stamp "thanks for all you do" from the GRACIOUS FLORAL CLEAR STAMP SET CL5280 using the VersaFine Clair Rain Forest ink
  • add tiny amber FAIRY JEWELS /BRIGHT JWL003 to the flower centers
  • add larger amber AUTUMN FAIRY CRYSTALS CRY101 in white space on the card front
  • add the finished panel to the front of the note card

IMG_1969 (1)-ink

This was really a happy accident as I thought I had inked up the side of the folder that would emboss rather than deboss the image.  I decided to work with it and colored everything but the flowers as if they were all leaves, trying to match the ink's green with an appropriate colored pencil.  Maybe this is more inspiration for this month's green blog challenge.

Happy Crafting!

Stencilled Gracious Floral Birthday
by Trina Pham

IMG_1555

Hello everyone.  This was a birthday card I made for a crafty friend whose birthday was last Sunday.  I used the Gracious Floral stamp with the focus on the coordinating layering stencil set from the Gracious Floral collection.  As Laura mentioned in a previous post, there is a guide to help with coloring the floral image using these stencils, but unfortunately, I lost/misplaced mine.  Luckily, it was easy enough to figure out.

The image was stamped with Fadeout ink onto white cardstock because I wanted a no-line coloring look.  A light neutral dye ink, such as Antique Linen distress ink, could be used instead.  Gradient colors of dye inks in purple, yellow and green were then applied with blending brushes through the stencils.  After the stencilling was complete, Polychromos pencils were then used to shade and/or color it further to give it more/better definition and dimension.  I did take creative licence, skipping the top stencil layer on the large leaves, so I can add in my own details. 😉

IMG_1558

The image was die cut out next using the coordinating die, then cut apart to “stretch” diagonally across the card front.  Heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder onto a scrap of black cardstock before die cutting it out with a Poppy Stamps Basic Oval die.  Assembled the card onto a white card base, then added clear shimmer on the flowers and some clear jewels for a bit of sparkle to finish.

IMG_1559

That does it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful weekend.
