Magnolia Branch w/ Birdhouse Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone!  I have a card that can be used as a Mother's Day card or any occasion.  It features the Magnolia Spring release with the House Frame Background die set to create a birdhouse.   The card changed as I went and kept adding things.  I will give instructions on how to get the look as close as I can but the way I did it was twice as long.

Die cut the Magnolia Bud and Blossom Die from a mid-tone reddish purple from the Vibrant Violet pad.  Transfer all the paper to a stencil stick mat. Ink blend from the middle of the flowers to the center using VersaFine Clair Purple Delight.  Then use a white pigment ink from the tips of the flower to the center. The small die cuts that are supposed to be dark ink blend just with the Clair Purple delight.  The stems of the flowers ink blend with Elements Truffle. Glue all the followers using the front of the envelope as a guide.

Die cut the Magnolia leaf Branch from white card stock.  Us the same technique to setup for ink blending.  The branch was colored with Elements Truffle and the leaves with Clair Verdant and Green Oasis.  Adhere the leaves together using the envelope.

Die cut the Backyard Wren from white card stock.  Ink blend the body with Elements Truffle, heavy on the top and very light towards the bottom.  The feathers are ink blended with Clair Verdant to Elements Truffle.  The beak is colored with Elements Sundance.

Die cut the House Frame Background from Kraft Woodgrain Paper and black card stock.  Ink blend the house and a strip of the woodgrain paper with Distress Scattered Straw then Vintage Photo.  Next use Ground Espresso ink cub and lightly drag across the top of the paper, just hitting the top of the paper.  Die cut the circle die in the house and out of black card stock.  Adhere the bird house on top of the black die cut.  Then adhere the circle frame die cuts together then in the hole.  Cut the strip of paper to 1/3" x 3".  Adhere a black strip of the same said and add it to the bottom of the birdhouse.

Cut a light blue card stock to 5" x 7".  Stamp Hugs from the All the Happiness stamp set around the back using the 3rd and 4th generation of Elements Truffle.  Ink blend the sides w/a blending brush and Elements Truffle.  To lighted up the background ink blend with a white pigment ink.

Adhere the background to a Kraft 5"x7" card base.  Stamp sending some very special hugs your way from the All the Happiness stamp set on the inside using black ink. Rub the curved Magnolia Rub On next to the sentiment.  Tie hem twine to the bird house and then tie to the branch.  Adhere the bird house to the bottom center of the card then adhere the branch.  Adhere the flowers to the branch and bird to the ledge of the birdhouse.  Stamp sending hugs from the All the Happiness stamp set on a cream card stock.  You can either cut your stamp apart or mask the other words when applying ink and then removing the mask before stamping.  Trim down and add to the left center of the card.
