A Feathery View

Hello everyone.  Using dies from the current 2023 February release, I created this thank you card.  To be honest I set out to do something else, but this resulted instead. 😂

Once again, I saw several watercoloring/painting reels on Instagram (IG) and wanted to give it a try.  Started by adding blobs of gouache paints on the smooth side of Memory Box’s watercolor paper in the order of the desired colors.

B0B6162A-8182-44AD-B5F8-76A8DF6CDE0B

Using flat watercolor brushes and as little water as possible, created a background wash.

505B0613-D781-435A-80F1-E7116D97FD14

Took a small round brush and black gouache paint and painted in the land mass.  Lightly splattered with diluted white gouache paint for the stars.  Also used white gouache paint to paint the moo and reflection in the water.

The artists in the IG reels painted in their own silhouettes.  I didn’t want to take the chance of ruining my progress, so I die cut my silhouettes from black cardstock using the Backyard Floral Stems die.

The Plumed Gypsy Feather background die was then used to die cut the feather aperture from an A2 size Bristol panel.  The detailed top layer was also die cut from Bristol and mounted onto the back cutout layer.  Die cut the Tilted Thanks sentiment 3x to stack for dimension, then assembled the card onto a white card base to finish.

That does it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a lovely day.

Hello with Scribble Daisy
by Angie Cimbalo

Hello and welcome!  It's Angie here today with a pretty spring hello card featuring new dies from the February release.

I used both the Hello Rush Script die 94468, the Scribble Daisy die 94617, along with the new A2 Rectangle Frames dies 94672.  The background was made with the Geometric Crystals 3D Embossing Folder EF 1016.

I embossed some cream colored thick watercolor paper with the folder and then inked the edges with light pink.  I also used that same watercolor paper smooshed with green and pink inks, and both white and black card stock to cut the sentiment and the daisy from.  Next I stacked them offset from each other for dimension.  I matted the embossed panel on a slightly larger black panel then added it all to the card base.  I finished my card with some Memory Box Pastel Jewels and Wink of Stella on the flower petals and the hello die.

The inks I used to smoosh with were Distress Inks in Saltwater Taffy, Twisted Citron.  I added a little  Walnut Stain to the bottom of the hello smooshed die with a domed ink blender.

Here's a closer look:

I hope you like my card for today.  I really love the soft colors and the puffy dimension look from the 3D embossing folder.  Please come back every day to see more inspiration from the design team.

Thanks for stopping by!

Best Wishes

Greetings friends. Today I wanted to feature the new Curlicue Plate. It makes a really beautiful background. To make the card, I first started with some of the white Memory Box woodgrain paper and spritzed it with blue and green sprays:

IMG_4056

I let the colors meld together and then dry completely before adding my curlicue background that was cut from white cardstock. To finish the card, I added my sentiment as well as a new butterfly die. I wanted everything to coordinate, so I used the same color cardstock as the notecard to cut out the shadow for the sentiment and the details of the butterfly:

Hugs for You
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_4061

Greetings friends. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Today I wanted to share a background made out of Distress Inks. It is a good way to really highlight any dies that you might have.

To make the background, I sponged Distress Inks onto white cardstock in the following order: Peacock Feathers, Twisted Citron Squeezed Lemon, Carved Pumpkin and Picked Raspberry. I was in the mood for really bright and happy colors.  I then cut out by sponged background using one of the new nesting dies that has an arch at the top.

Next, I spritzed the piece with water to give it a speckled look. Here is a closeup:

IMG_4064

To finish the card, I added my dies as well as some rhinestones to include a little extra bling. I really like the detail you get from the Curved Cap Pinpoint Layer die. The little pinpoints really add a lot of interest to the edges.

Thanks for stopping by today!

The new swirly, curly, spiraled Curlicue Plate is quickly becoming a Design Team favorite.  It's great alone as a bold background - or highlight it with the new Plumed Gypsy Butterfly or Plumed Gypsy Feather.  Hi, Jean here with another butterfly card that just couldn't wait for warm and sunny butterfly-weather.

Trim an ink-blended (or watercolored) background to 4" x 5-¼".  Attach it to a top-folded white notecard.

Prep the new Curlicue Plate by rubbing it briskly with waxed paper to make it quick and easy to remove the offcuts.  Cut Curlicue Plate from white cardstock.

Cut the Plumed Gypsy Butterfly background from a shimmery purple 6x6 in the Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad.  Prep the detailed butterfly die with scrunched waxed paper, then cut it from the Rainbow Reflections sheet too.

Stamp the greeting - from the Sweet Christmas Clear Stamp Set - on white cardstock with Brilliance Pearlescent Purple.

Attach the greeting and diecuts to the card - use foam tape for the butterfly, and leave the outer edges unglued.  Add pale pink Pastel Fairy Jewels.

The Curlicue Plate is great for pressure-embossing and paper-piecing too!  Save a few of the offcuts if you're cutting it from colored or metallic cardstock. They create great design elements - especially the 3 main circular pieces.  We save everything, don't we?

Thanks for visiting our blog,  Keep warm and make some cards this weekend - and please stop by to enjpy Laura's great design on Saturday!

Hi everyone!  I have another card using new products from the 2023 Memory Box Spring Release.  I love the pattern on the new Curlicue Die Plate and thought I would try it using Simon Hurley's Stamping Foam.

IMG_4106

I heated the circle stamping foam with a heat tool and quickly pressed it into the die.  Next, I inked the foam with dye inks and misted it lightly with water to stamp it onto watercolor paper.

IMG_4093

IMG_4094

The stamped image looks like a watercolor painting.  I dry embossed the circle frame around the stamped image using the largest circle from the circle die set and followed the directions on my die cutting machine for embossing with a die.

The leaves were die cut from green cardstock and inked with Rustic Wilderness Distress ink, then glued in place on the card.

IMG_4091

I die cut the word hugs from white cardstock and the shadow from black cardstock.  I used foam tape to glue the word to the card.

Next I glued the card front to a black cardstock mat and adhered it to a white card base.

IMG_4099

To finish the card, I added some fairy crystals to add a little shine.

That's it for today!  Thanks for stopping by.

Brighten a gray winter day with a fresh pink blossom and big hugs from our new Spring Collection.  We're discovering countless ways to mix, match and layer the great design elements from our latest release.  Hi, Jean here with a simple idea that's easy to create in your favorite colors - or the recipient's favs.

The new Curved Cap Pinpoint Layers set is great for backgrounds, frames or tags.  Tape the three smallest dies together and cut an ink-blended or watercolored, gold-spritzed background.  Leave the diecuts in the dies and attach doublestick tape to the backsides of the intact diecuts to save time. Remove them from the dies together and attach them to a top-folded white A2 card.

Cut dark gray stems with the new Floral Bud and Stems set.  Cut the petals from the sweet pink Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad 6x6.  Attach the diecuts to the background - use foam dots for the 3-petal piece.

Tape or glue two layers of white cardstock together and diecut the solid Hugs Tender Script background.  Pressure-emboss it with the overlay to deboss the background and make it easy to attach the gold layer.  Cut the overlay from the gold Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad 6x6.  Attach it to the background.

Add pale gold Pastel Fairy Jewels for extra sparkle.

That's it!  Make several cards in different colors and have variations ready for thank-yous, birthdays or friendship cards too.

Thanks for visiting - see you on Friday...

  • trim a piece of purple plaid paper from the SPRING PLAID PP1012 paper pad to 5 1/4 X 4
  • add this plaid paper to the front of a side-fold A2 white note card

Floral Bouquet
by Trina Pham

0D34AAD9-D0B9-4894-A4CA-2916F6BBAC65

Hello everyone.  I have a floral bouquet mini slimline card to share today featuring new products from the current 2023 February release.

I saw on Instagram a flower bouquet wrap created by folding in the sides of a die cut heart and since I had a leftover die cut heart in my stash, I put it to good use.  The heart had been die cut with the largest die from either the Double Stitched or Scallop Pinpoint Loving Heart die set.

7AFFD82D-880D-458E-9D51-CE7C03114D37

The flowers and foliage from new Floral Bud and Stems and Backyard Floral Stems die sets were die cut from white cardstock.  Colored the foliage with YG61, YG63 and G99 Copic Sketch markers, while the flowers were colored with Wilted Violet distress ink using a finger blending brush.

97895EB9-2056-4ACF-AE54-52483C4E647D

The background panel is Bristol paper trimmed to 3”x6”.  Ink blended Wilted Violet distress ink from the bottom left corner fading out to the opposite corner.  Flicked on some water and splattered with diluted white gouache paint for some interest.   Die cut new Hello Rush Script  sentiment from gold glitter paper and black cardstock to offset for a drop shadow.  Assembled the card onto a white mini slimline card base and added some highlights with a white gel pen to finish.

That’s it for today.  Thank you for joining me.  Have a wonderful day.
