Hello Magnolia Card
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_4994

Hello everyone!  Today I have another Magnolia card for you featuring a stenciled background for the Magnolia die cut to lay on.

The first thing I did was use a low tack tape to mask off a rectangle in the center of the card panel.

IMG_4987

I placed the Leafy Row Stencil over the masked background, then used a blender brush and Distress Inks to add color through the stencil.  I removed the stencil and before I removed the tape I used what ink was left on my brushes to blend in some color to the background.

IMG_4990

I die cut the Magnolia Floral Stem from white cardstock and used Distress Inks and Blender brushes to add color to the flower and leaves.  I used Saltwater Taffy and Picked Raspberry for the flower, Peeled Paint and Forest Moss for the leaves, and Gathered Twigs for the stem.

I glued the flower and leaves together and then adhered them to the card front.

Next, I die cut the word Hello from gold foil paper and glued that to the card.

IMG_4996

To finish the card, I used foam tape to adhere the card front to a white card base, and that's it!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_4966

Hi everyone!  For today's card, I used a new 3D Embossing Folder from the April 2023  Magnolia Release.

On the flat side of the embossing folder (the flower are pressed in), I applied Distress Oxides Ink directly to the folder.  I misted the inked folder with plain water and placed my white cardstock into the folder and ran it through my die cut machine.

IMG_4963

This is what the background looks like when it comes out of the folder.

IMG_4964

Next, I used a small brayer and picked up the same ink colors and lightly applied ink to the top of the embossed images. This helps define the flowers.

IMG_4965

I spattered the background with white and blue inks.

Next, I applied Stormy Sky Distress Oxide Ink to a piece of white cardstock and die cut the words "Happy Birthday" from the inked paper.  The shadow for the words was die cut 3 times from white cardstock and stacked.

I glued this to the card and used foam tape to adhere it to a white card base.

IMG_4967

To finish the card, I added some Clear Fairy Drops to add some shine.

That's it for today!  Thanks for stopping by!

Father's Day Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I have a Father's Day card featuring the Freshwater Fish 3D Embossing Folder and Cutting dies.  Does anyone else have a collection of alcohol ink backgrounds that need using?  I did so I turned them into fish.  If not perfect project to practice some background. Check out the instructions below.

FEE7365B-A5FD-407C-837D-180EF5843A35

Fish:

Look into your stash for 2 alcohol ink backgrounds that are at least A2 size.  The exact color doesn't matter.  Die cut a lighter one from the largest fish die from Freshwater Fish 3D Embossing Folder and Cutting dies and then emboss using matching folder.   I added color using Distress Crayons Pocus Pocus, Bubbling Cauldron, and brushed Pewter.  Rub with your finger. Use a black gel pen on the eye.

Background:

Die cut the Jumbled Line Collage die from another, darker, alcohol background.  Save all the die cut pieces and adhere to a black panel 4"x5 1/4".

Sentiment:

Die cut DAD using the Wooden Alpha die set from White Woodgrain Paper.  Rub on Distress Brushed Pewter all over the letters.

Assembly:

Cut White Woodgrain Paper to A2 size.  Adhere the background and then the DAD to the bottom of the fish.  Adhere to a white A2 card base.

Magnolia Pocket Thank You Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I am really enjoying creating cards with the Magnolia release.  I have a front pocket card using the Curved Cap Pinpoint Layers dies decorated with the Magnolia Blossom Trio. You can add a greeting to a square piece of paper or put in a gift card.  They are simple to make and add to any card front or inside.

87D43860-A42C-4D44-BFC3-F47B157302D9_1_201_a

Flowers:

Die cut the Magnolia Blossom Trio from heavy weight white card stock.  I found that using a stencil sticky mate and putting the paper and die cuts on it makes for easy blending.  I use sticky notes to cover areas I don't want the ink on.  It makes it easy and quick to ink blend. I used 2 different shads of inks for the flowers, Clair Charming Pink and Purple Delight to get a lighter color for these magnolias.
For the leaves I used ClairGreen Oasis and Shady Lane.  I did some light bending of the petals using my fingers or a pencil.  I also used foam dots to pop up some of the petals.  I glued the pieces together referencing the front of the envelope.  It is also easier with the sticky stencil mat to keep all the pieces together.

B6058B6E-8094-4BD7-90C2-3DF1740E727E

Pocket:

Die cut the 3rd largest die from the Curved Cap Pinpoint Layers set twice from a light purple paper from the Magnolia Plaid paper pad.  Take 1 of the die cuts and use the 3rd from smallest die from the Circle Basic set and die cut from the center of the curved cap to create a notch.  This creates a spot to pull the item out of the pocket.  Add 1/8" double sided tape around the 3 straight sides of the dark side of the paper.  Do NOT add tape to the curved top. Add the the die cut with the notch on top, making sure the lighter paper is on the outside you can see the dark paper from the notch.

Background:

3D emboss A2 side white card base using the Magnolia Blooms folder. Lightly rub some Distress Oxide in Spun Sugar and Mill Lavender on just the tops of the flowers and leaves.

F1868E7A-4243-4986-96A3-472CD211CEFA

Assembly:

Adhere the background to a white A2 sized card.  Adhere the pocket to the center, tilting it slightly.  Adhere the flowers and leaves to the front of the pocket.  Die cut The tilted Thanks from the mirror gold paper from the Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad.  adhere over the flowers.  Splatter with some gold metal watercolor paint and add some Clear Fairy Drops randomly on the flower petals and leaves.

A Blossom from the Magnolia Grove by Jean Okimoto

Billowy flowering trees create a colorful backdrop for a fresh Magnolia Blossom from our latest collection.  Hi, Jean here with a spring slimline - and some very poufy trees.

Cut Birch Tree Trunks from light kraft cardstock - we're using just 3 of them today.  Cut the Gentle Rose Watercolor Floral background from a tiny floral print from the new Magnolia Grove 6x6 set.  Cut three more floral backgrounds from dark green cardstock. Layer them - slightly offset  - for treetops.  Trim one of them where it'll be attached along the fold.  Attach them to a pale lavender-pink slimline card (3-⅝"x 8-½").

The Magnolia Grove set has several other floral and leafy prints that would be great for this technique.

Tip - it's easier to color Magnolia Blossom's layers if they are pressure-embossed first, then colored, then finally cut out.  You won't have to chase the little pieces around to color (and/or misplace!) them - and you can apply the colors exactly where you want them.

Pressure-emboss Magnolia Blossom on smooth white cardstock using a rubber embossing mat and the plate(s) required for your machine.  Color the embossed designs with Pearlescent Orchid and Pearlescent Rust Brilliance inks using a sponge, dauber or blending brush.  Dry the inks, then diecut the pieces.  Assemble the blossom.

Cut the extra leaf/stem pieces - from the Vibrant Leaf Corner set - from green cardstock.  Attach the blossom and leaves to the card - use foam dots behind some of the petals.

Add pale lavender Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Think beyond-the-box, upcycle and repurpose your tools and supplies to get the most from your investment of these fun toys.

Thanks for visiting - see you in May!

Combine new designs from our latest release with the April Challenge - Sky's the Limit - and a bit of Poppystamps Whittle Sunshine.  Hi, Jean here with a double-collage all-occasion design in soft spring pastels. It could be a friendship card, send a note of encouragement, celebrate a special moment or welcome a new baby.

Cut, score and fold a 5.5" square white card.  Diecut Cloudy Moon Collage from the card front.  Cut Distant Sun Collage from the inside.  Back it with a 5.5" square of pale blue cardstock.

Diecut the Poppystamps Whittle Sunshine from pale yellow cardstock.

Diecut Curved Magnolia Branch from minty green cardstock.  Trim and save the leaf that would be hidden by Backyard Wren - it'll be repositioned later.

Diecut Magnolia Bud Trio from pale lavender cardstock and assemble the blossom and bud.  The small triple-pointed sepal will be a tiny bud.

Attach adhesive label paper (or a sticker sheet) to blue wool-blend felt to stabilize it and prevent adhesives from saturating it.  Cut Backyard Wren's  main section.  Cut it again from white cardstock - it'll be layered behind the assembled bird later.  Cut the wings from the shimmery turquoise Vintage Pastel Mirror Pad 6x6.

Cut the beak section from yellow cardstock and use a black marker to fill the area that will become the eye.

Assemble Backyard Wren and attach the plain white diecut behind it for a neater back-view when the card is opened.

Attach the diecuts to the card - add the saved leaf near the center of the curved branch.  Use a foam dot behind the tip of the large wing.

Add turquoise Christmas Fairy Dewdrops.  Cut a 5.5" square of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.  Square cards require extra postage and special handling.

Thanks for visiting...have a great weekend!
