Just a Note
by Theary Chea

Hello and welcome! My name is Theary, and I am so excited to share a card I created using the mini-fall release.

IMG_5509

I created a tone-on-tone background using Fanciful Gilded Frame 94660. I then inked blended brown ink around the edges of the card panel. To add more color and interest, I used colored pencils to add color to the Fancilful Gilded Frame.

IMG_5510

I die-cut Autumn Pumpkin 94690 out of white cardstock and inked blend orange orange-colored ink to create dimension.

I used Just a Note 94663 and die-cut that out of Glossy Black Cardstock and Glitter Paper.

IMG_5509

I adhered everything to a card base using liquid adhesive and foam squares.

IMG_5510

And that's it! I hope you found some inspiration and get crafty in your craft space. Until next time!

Have a great day!

Boo Colorful Pumpkins
by Angie Cimbalo

4

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with some super fun colorful pumpkins made with the newest pumpkin die "Autumn Pumpkin."  I love non traditional colors for cards so today I went a little crazy on my pumpkin colors!

One of the reasons I wanted to create this card is because I recently started scrapbooking and I have so many left over scraps from those large 12 by 12 papers!  So for my card today I picked a group of coordinating paper scraps and used them to cut all the die cuts from.  For the background I used the Slim Diagonal Collage die twice to cut the two separate strips of diagonal lines and then backed that panel with a solid color from the paper collection.  Here you can see all the pumpkins I cut in a row, alongside the background panel:

Pumpkins and background

You can see all the colorful papers I chose to mix and match.  And below you can see that I am arranging them in the order I like right over that solid white strip so it will look like the diagonal die cut the whole panel instead of 2 separate strips.

Pumpkins 2

Once I was happy with my arranged pumpkins, I glued on the stems and leaves to each pumpkin.  Next I turned them over and added 2 layers of foam tape down the middle of them.  I did this because there are lines cut in the pumpkin with the die so that you can bend the sides backwards a little and if gives the illusion of a more rounded 3D pumpkin.  I love that about this die, it really looks realistic in real life.  Here's you can see the first layer of foam tape on the back of the pumpkins.

Foam tape

When I added the pumpkins to the background, each had foam tape in the centers and liquid glue on each side so I could kind of round them out a little more than just laying them down flat.  Next I cut the background brown piece using the Wrapped Stitched Slim Rectangles largest die from the set.  I put my white panel on top and then cut the BOO using brown and white card stock with the Bennet Alphabet die set.

After adding the boo letters on the middle 3 pumpkins, I added shimmer pen and glossy accents to help them stand out more.  Here's closer look at this:

I had so much fun creating this large slimline card for today and I hope you will try making non-traditional colored die cuts from your leftover card stock pieces!  Here's one last look:

Bubble, Bubble…Boiling Cauldron by Jean Okimoto

Bubbles on the Deepwater Collage create a great backdrop for a Boiling Cauldron Halloween card.  A smiley pumpkin and pair of ghosts - from the Poppystamps Whittle Scary Guys - completes the design.  Hi, Jean here with a fun fall mix of favorite dies from my stash, the new Boiling Cauldron, and a popular new Poppystamps set of Halloween icons.

Cut light gray cardstock with the 3" wide Nested Globes die.  Cut it with Deepwater Collage.  Trim and save the bubbly stalk on the right side. Attach the outer edges of the diecut to a dark gray A2 card.  Attach the saved bubbly stalk on the left half of the diecut, under the inner edge of the collage.

Cut the Boiling Cauldron pot from the black Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Cut the drippy rim from the orange Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Cut the rising bubbles from the orange Glitzy Glitter Pad 6x6.  Assemble the cauldron and bubbles.

Cut the Poppystamps Scary Guys ghosts and pumpkin from white and orange cardstock.  Attach scraps of black cardstock behind their faces.

Attach the diecuts to the card - use foam tape for the cauldron and top of the ghosts.

Cut 2 sets of the 4 extra bubbles from the turquoise Rainbow Reflections 6x6.  Attach 7 of them over the stalks for a bright colorful  contrast.

Use your nautical designs for fall cards - it's too early to stash the dies for the winter!  They're great for Halloween - when "anything goes" - so mix, match and layer them with traditional fall icons.

Thanks for visiting - see you next week!

A Halloween Treat
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_6302

Hello everyone!  Today I have a cute Halloween Treat holder for you, which starts out with a toilet paper roll.

IMG_6306

I cut a 2" piece of a empty toilet paper roll and covered it with printed paper.  I cut a 2" x 6" strip of black cardstock for the inside of the roll and another piece of printed paper the same size to cover the outside.

I used liquid glue and coated the inside of the roll and pressed my black cardstock strip around it.  Next, I added glue to the outside of the roll and added my printed paper.

From black cardstock I die cut a circle that was slightly bigger than the toilet paper roll and glued the roll to the circle.  This becomes your small treat box.  Next, I hot glued a piece of black glitter pipe cleaner around the top edge of the treat holder and adhered another piece for the handle.

IMG_6305

I adhered a thin strip of washi tape along the bottom of the treat holder.

I die cut the ghost from white cardstock, glued a piece of black cardstock behind the eyes and mouth and used foam tape to glue it to the holder.  I added a few highlight lines to the ghost with a gold gel pen and added pink colored pencil for the cheeks.

The word "Boo" was printed from a label maker and glued to the ghost.

Next, I tied a white ribbon to the handle of the treat holder.

IMG_6304

Add a little grass and a treat and that's it!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Glitter and Shine Pumpkin Card
by Anne Thompson

This month's blog challenge is all about orange.  This card uses orange mirror paper, orange glitter paper, and an orange plaid paper (as well as some green mirror paper).  It's quite difficult to photograph all of those shiny textures and have it look right, but here's an angle shot that is the best out of twenty or so pictures I took.

0-2 (1)-ink

to make this card

  • start with a white note card
  • cover the front of the card with orange mirror paper from RAINBOW REFLECTIONS MIRROR PAD PP1003
  • die cut the CELESTE PLATE 94699 with green mirror paper from the RAINBOW REFLECTIONS MIRROR PAD PP1003
  • add the Celeste Plate to the front of the note card using a glue pen around the outside edges

0-4 (1)-ink

  • die cut the AUTUMN PUMPKIN 94690 from a scrap of the orange mirror paper for leaves, a scrap of the green mirror paper for the stem, and a piece of orange glitter paper from GLITZY GLITTER PAD GP1007 for the pumpkin itself
  • assemble the pumpkin with the stem and leaves attached...I used Glue Dots

0-3 (1)-ink (1)

  • make a base panel for the pumpkin from a scrap of an orange plaid paper (this one from the Garden Folly papers was left from a pumpkin I made on my last card) just a bit larger than the pumpkin and mount it on a scrap of the orange glitter paper and trim that to be just a tiny bit larger than the plaid piece...I found it best to use Scor-Tape to adhere the plaid paper to the glitter paper
  • pop the pumpkin onto the panel using dimensional foam
  • add this panel at an angle to the front of the notecard
  • and there's still plenty of room on the front to add an appropriate sentiment

Plenty of shadow across the front of the card in this outdoor photo..

IMG_2125 (1)-ink

I do love all the textures and shine on this card!  And it's another one that I could send any time this fall.  It's certainly starting to feel like fall here in Maine--cooler nights and the leaves have begun changing color further north.

Happy Crafting!  And enter our Crazy for Orange blog contest for September--the information is here.

Rotate an underwater coral collage 180 degrees...and it's a spooky, twiggy forest scene for Halloween!  Hi, Jean here with an upside-down Bubble Coral Collage, the new Autumn Pumpkin and those popular ghosts.  Cut a Glitzy Glitter Pad BOO! too.

Cut black cardstock with the 3-¾" wide Curved Cap Pinpoint Layers die.  Cut it with an upside-down Bubble Coral Collage.  Cut the extra coral from black cardstock too.

Cut the ghosts - from the Ghosts in the Forest set from heavy white cardstock.  Attach black cardstock behind their faces.

Cut Autumn Pumpkin from bright orange cardstock and the tendril and leaf from green cardstock.

Cut BOO from the black Glitzy Glitter Pad 6x6 with Mini Vintage Varsity Alphabet. Save an offcut from inside the letters - they'll become an exclamation mark.

Trim an orange/yellow A2 card with a corner-rounding punch.  Attach the diecuts - use foam dots behind the ghosts' heads.  Add the green/gray Treasure Chest Fairy Gemstones.  Cut an A2-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Nautical designs - like this Bubble Coral Collage - are popular for summer cards.  Turn it into a fall design for Halloween with the Boiling Cauldron, Layered Witch Hat or Rickety House. Just a few ideas - or some inspiration for September's Crazy for Orange Challenge.  The entry deadline for the Challenge is the end of the day EST on September 29th.

Thanks for visiting - see you again on Friday!

Add a shadowy, dimensional effect - like itallic curliques - to a Fanciful Gilded Frame background.  The Large Layered Witch Hat and Poppystamps Scary Guys ghosts complete this Halloween scene.  Hi, Jean here with another design featuring the great new frame from our Fall '23 Collection.

Prep Fanciful Gilded Frame by rubbing it briskly with scrunched waxed paper to help release the swirls and curls.  Cut the frame from black cardstock and a Sunny Orange Collection 6x6 sheet.  Trim half of the borders from the bottom and right sides of the black frame diecut so they won't show when the frames are offset   Attach the orange and black frames  to a top-folded orange A2 card - don't attach the two curliques that  will overlap the Curved Cap Pinpoint Layer diecut.

Cut the 2-¼" Curved Cap Pinpoint Layer from a "slightly yellow-er" Sunny Orange Collection sheet.  Attach it to background.

Cut Large Layered Witch Hat from black cardstock.  Cut the vertical trim from the black Glitzy Glitter Pad 6x6.  Cut the hatband from the chartreuse Rainbow Reflections 6x6.

Cut the sweet ghosts - from the Poppystamps Scary Guys die - from heavy white cardstock.  Attach black cardstock behind the eyes.

Attach the diecuts to the card - use foam tape for the tops of the hat and ghosts.  Add the yellow-orange Treasure Chest Fairy Gemstones.  Cut an A2-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Memory Box frame and coverplate dies are great for quick cards.  Use them for pressure-embossing, stenciling and inlaid designs too.  Trim them into different shapes too.

Thanks for visiting...have a great weekend!

Witches Hat Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone!  I have another Halloween card featuring the new Large Layered Witch Hat die.  This die is the perfect size to create a large focal image for easy card designs.  Pair with an embossing folder or background die and a sentiment and you are done.  I used an embossing folder and the Starry Collage die to create my background.

Background:

Ink the raised side of the Geometric Crystal 3D folder with a dark purple ink.  I used Clare VersaFine.  Emboss using a mid tone purple paper from  the Ocean Blue pad.  Trim down to 4" x 5 1/4".  Lightly rub a white ink pad on the raised surfaces.

Focal Point:

Die cut the Large Layered With Hat from 2 different toned purple paper from the Ocean Blue pad.  Ink blend the top layer with Distress Villainous Potion.  Use the later color paper for the bottom layer then the small side die cut in the dark paper.  Adhere with glue.  I wanted to had some sparkle to my hat and added Drewdrop Fairy Sugar to the band of the hat.  Let dry.

Stars and sentiment:

Spray Open Studio Watercolor paper with Distress Mica Stain Harvest Moon.  Let dry.  Die cut the Starry Collage and the top of Poppy Stamps Boo Outline die from sprayed watercolor paper.  Save the stars for the back ground. Die cut the bottom of the Boo Outline die from the back paper in the Rainbow Reflection Mirror pad.  Adhere the top letters to the bottom die cut.

Assembly:

Trim the  back paper in the Rainbow Reflection Mirror pad to A2 size.  Adhere the embossed background to the card base.  Adhere the stars around the back ground.  Adhere the sentiment to the bottom portion of the card.  Adhere the hate with foam tape.  Adhere to a A2 white note card.

Happy Haunting Card
by Donna Sledzik

IMG_6269

Good morning everyone!  Today I have another Halloween card featuring new products from the 2023 Fall Release.

I started but creating the ink blended the background panel using Distress Inks in Lost Shadow and Hickory Smoke.  I spattered the background with plain water and dried it with the heat tool, then spattered it with white ink.

The moon was die cut from white cardstock, then inked with Mustard Seed and Vintage Photo Distress Inks.  I spattered the moon with plain water to give it a little texture.

I die cut the "Ghosts in the Forest" from white cardstock and stamped the greeting on the bottom portion of the panel.

The moon was glued to the gray background panel and the white die cut was adhered on top of the background.

IMG_6270

The witch was die cut from black cardstock and I used foam tape to adhere it to the card.

I used foam tape to adhere the card front to a white card base.

That's it for today!  Thanks for stopping by.

Pumpkin Trick or Treaters
by Trina Pham

IMG_2350

Hello everyone.  I have a fun Halloween card to share today.  I decided to dress up the Autumn Pumpkin from the current 2023 Fall release.  As you can see, they cover the classic mummy, Frankenstein (Frankie) and vampire.

Started by die cutting the Autumn Pumpkin from white, green and purple cardstockk, thennk blended Lost Shadow, Shabby Shutters and Shaded Lilac distress ink (DI) around the respective edges for shading.  Cut the upper part of the pumpkin from black cardstock and black glitter paper to die cut Frankie’s hair and vampire’s head, respectively.  Used the Circle Basics and Boiling Cauldron dies for Frankie’s hair and eyes (pictured below).  Frankie’s stitches were made with a thin trimmed  black cardstock strip.

IMG_2347

The Double Stitched Heart and Boiling Cauldron dies were used for the vampire’s head and mouth (pictured below).  Partial diecutting was done to shorten the mouth.  The star die was used for fangs.  Red googley eyes were used here to mix things up. 😉

IMG_2349

The mummy was pretty simple.  The eyes (minus eyelids) were done the same way as Frankie.  Tore strips of copy paper to mummify/wrap it then trimmed off excess.

IMG_2351

For the background, masked off the moon then ink blended Spiced  Marmalade, Rusty Hinge and Black Soot DI.  Splattered with diluted black gouache paint.  Removed the mask then applied residual ink to the moon and stamped the sentiment in black.  Assembled the card onto a white card base to finish.

IMG_2352

That wraps it up for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.
