Valentine For You with Heart Ring Stack
by Angie Cimbalo

2

Hello and welcome, it's Angie here today with a clean and simple Valentine's Day card featuring two of the newly released dies:

"For You Posh Script" die 94709 and "Heart Ring Stack" die 94667

Here's a closer look at my card:

2

To make my card I took a piece of watercolor paper that my art teacher, Cate Robbins, had used for testing watercolors. She gave me several panels that she didn't want to use so I plan to turn a lot of them into cards.  I cut the heart die from white twice, black once, and the watercolored panel once. I stacked the black and white outlines first, then added the watercolored pieced into the openings.

For the sentiment I cut it from white, black and the watercolor panel and stacked them. For the front of my card, I rounded the corners and then added score lines every 1/4" for some light texture. I added both die cut pieces to the front of the card, then added a few gold gems, also from Memory Box.

Here's one last look:

I hope you like my card for today! I had so much fun creating it. Be sure to come back each day for more inspiration from the design team. Thanks for stopping by!

Purple Valentines Card
by Sara Cook

Hi everyone.  I have a Valentines card featuring the Blissful Heart hot foil plate and Luxe Peony die set.

C78ACB85-4705-4A5F-9CE9-2AAE48BD9052_1_201_a

I started off using the Memory Box watercolor paper and die cut the Luxe Peony petals.  Using deep purples and white watercolors to add color to each petal and heat set dried.  Use your fingers to curve the petals.  Splatter with some gold watercolor paint and let dry.  I used foam tape to prop up some of the petals and glue to adhere the center of the petal bases together.

7E3A5E7D-4999-482A-9581-BDF2C5EEA10A

Hot foil the Glossy Black paper with gold foil and the Blissful Heart Foil Plate.  I had to use the metal cut shim on my foil plate to get it to adhere properly.  I die cut the heart using the largest die from eh Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out die set.

FE885448-32B4-4E1B-B83B-0EAC0C3A000D

Loving You Post Script die was the best fit for the composition.  I used a medium hue from Twilight Purple pad to die cut the base and gold mirror from Vintage Pastel Mirror paper for the top.  Adhere together with glue.

2A526CA8-F979-4942-AB9A-0866A452CC6F_1_201_a

Use an A2 card base.  I added a A2 panel of Glossy Black paper to the front.  Then adhered a 1/4" smaller panel of a lighter hue from the Twilight Purple pad.  I also splattered some of the same gold watercolor on the panel and heat set.  Adhere the hot foil heart cutout to the upper center of the card.  Add the sentiment to the lower right hand side of the heart.  In the center of the heart add the peony flower, using foam squares to the petals to give dimension.  Add a few clear Fairy Drops to finish the card.

Heart Ring Hugs

Hello everyone.  I have a simple friendship card to share today featuring the Heart Ring Stack die from the 2023 Valentine’s collection.

To make this long heart ring stack cutout work for a portrait style A2 size card, it was partially die cut six times from Bristol paper.  Stacked two of the outlines together, then glued them onto a sandy cardstock panel.

DC4ECA69-DC13-4BD2-97DF-9121CFC386F6

Next, on strips of Bristol paper, ink blended Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry distress inks at the top of each.  Spritz them with a shimmer spray for some sparkle before die cutting them with the die.  Inlaid the inner pieces into the row of hearts.  Die cut the daily script sentimens from more scraps of Bristol paper to finish.

That does it for my card.  Thank you for joining me today.  Have a wonderful day.

Bold, Bright Valentine Wishes by Jean Okimoto

Bold, bright cards for guys can be challenging.  The right Memory Box dies and papers make it easier than ever for Valentine's Day '23.  Hi, Jean Okimoto combining the new Memory Box Heart Ring Stack and the new Poppystamps Vintage Scalloped Heart set.  I love buying Poppystamps and Birch Press Design products to use for my class kits.

Cut white cardstock with the 6-⅜" x 1-⅜" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die.  Cut the rectangle with Heart Ring Stack.

Cut the red, black and gold-lined Christmas Jolly  plaid with the next-largest rectangle die.  The die is longer than the 6x6 plaid - but diecutting the plaid is easier than measuring and cutting it with a paper trimmer.  Why measure and handcut (and hope it's straight!) when it's faster to diecut?

Cut the lined heart from the Poppystamps Vintage Scalloped Heart set from the bright red Rainbow Reflections 6x6. The scalloped die cuts a separate heart - it's a great set!  Cut the 5th heart of the Heart Ring Stack from the beautiful shimmery red 6x6 too.

Attach the diecuts to a white slimline card (3-⅝" x 8-½") - offset the Heart Ring Stack so bits of the plaid background create a dimensional look. Use foamtape for the large heart.

Prep white cardstock by brushing it with anti-static powder to eliminate stray specks of gold embossing powder.  Stamp the greeting - from the Big and Little Valentines Clear Stamps - with VersaMark. Emboss it - heat the back of the cardstock for a few seconds, then finish it from the top to prevent scorching.  Attach the greeting.

Add the light gold Treasure Chest Fairy Gemstones.  As always, cut a slimline-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Thanks for visiting our design blog throughout the year!  Hope we've inspired and encouraged you to create unique cards to greet, celebrate, and remember the special people in your life.

Special thanks too - to Dave and Monica Brethauer and everyone at Memory Box for the great designs that make it all possible.

And thanks to Ann, Shari and Roxanne and everyone who ordered my card kits from them.  And thanks for folllowing on Instagram - I appreciate your support and comments.

See you next year...

Luxe Peony Pinpoint Burst Heart Thank You Notes
by Anne Thompson

'Tis the season for writing a stack of thank you notes.  I chose a simple composition featuring a Luxe peony on a Pinpoint Burst Heart for the first few I need.  Here are two of them.

IMG_4016-ink

  • I started with a white notecard and a green plaid from SPRING PLAID PP1012 cut 5 1/4 X 4.
  • I added the PINPOINT BURST HEART 94639 cut with gold mirror card from VINTAGE PASTEL MIRROR PAD FP1002, secured with Scor-Tape.

IMG_4011-ink

  • My next step was to choose two sheets of red plaid paper from JOLLY CHRISTMAS PP1019 for the LUXE PEONY 94714 and the THANK YOU POSH SCRIPT 94529.  I cut the peony several times from both sides of the plaid paper so I could mix the two papers.  I cut the background for the Thank You from the scraps left of the darker red plaid and the more detailed lettering from the lighter paper scraps.  I assembled the flowers with Glue Dots (and have tucked away a couple more for cards I'll make later) and I put the sentiments together with a Glue Pen.

IMG_4012-ink

  • I wanted larger leaves than came with the peony so chose the larger set of leaves from the EXQUISITE LEAF SET 94664 and cut them from a darker green cardstock from the LUSH GREEN COLLECTION SP1003.

IMG_4013-ink

  • For the final assembly, I added the leaf sprig with Glue Dots under a couple of the leaves and added the single leaf with another Glue Dot off to the bottom left corner.
  • I used a large circular dimensional foam dot behind the center of the peony to add it to the heart.
  • I used a Glue Pen to add the sentiment in the lower right.

IMG_4008-ink

This design would also work for a valentine, a wedding card, a birthday, or any other number of occasions.  And the color combinations are endless!

Happy Crafting!

Happy Holidays from Memory Box to everyone celebrating today!

Hi, Jean Okimoto here  - transitioning between holidays on my final Christmas design of the year.  The new Cuppa Love die set joins a dark floral print from the Garland 6x6 set to send warm winter wishes.

MemoryBoxCuppaLove, MemoryBoxDoubleStitchLovingHeartCutOut, MemoryBoxGarland6x6, MemoryBoxLushGreenCollection, MemoryBoxBerryRedCollection, MemoryBoxSweetChristmasClearStamps, JeanOkimoto, CoffeeDiecuts, HeartDiecuts, Cardcrafting, DiecutCards, ImpressCardsAndCrafts, MemoryBoxDiecuts

Cut Cuppa Love from cream cardstock.  Cut it again from dark brown cardstock and keep all of the offcuts except the heart and the piece inside the handle.  Attach the brown diecut and offcuts behind the cream diecut.  The die set includes solid shapes for the beverage surface and the front of the cup.  I wanted to add dimension so I stacked the pieces instead of paper-piecing them.

Cut the small inner heart from the red glittered Festive 6x6.

Select a section of the Garland floral print for the cup and cover it with a piece of packing tape to add a glossy finish - like a ceramic glaze.  (Details, details!)  Cut it with the solid cup die.

Cut a red 6x6 from the Berry Red Collection with the second-largest Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out die.  It cuts a solid heart - the double stitch pattern appears on the offcut outline.

Cut a ¾" x 5" strip of the green glittered Festive 6x6.  Cut a ¾" x 4-¼" strip of the medium-green 6x6 in the Lush Green collection.

Stamp the greeting - from the Sweet Christmas Clear Stamp Set - on cream cardstock with Satin Red VersaFine.  Quickly heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.

Attach the strips, diecuts and greeting to a top-folded light green A-2 card.  Add the lighter red Christmas Fairy Crystals.  Cut an A2-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Hope you've enjoyed the Christmas ideas from our Design Team.  We're getting ready for Valentine's Day and look forward to sharing more projects featuring our latest release!

Thanks for visiting...see you on Tuesday!

Double-Emboss the Blissful Heart by Jean Okimoto

The new Blissful Heart Hot Foil Plate is a hardworking multi-tasker that's also perfect for embossing the beautiful botanical design.  It's double-embossed here - pressure-embossed, then heat-embossed to highlight the delicate details.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a slimline Valentine design for you.

MemoryBoxBlissfulHeartHotFoilPlate, MemoryBoxDoubleStitchLovingHeartCutOut, MemoryBoxSlimRectangleLayers, MemoryBoxVintagePastelMirrorPad, MemoryBoxCreamWoodgrainPaper, MemoryBoxWinterFantasyFairyGemstones, MemoryBoxOpenStudioWatercolorPaper, JeanOkimoto, HotFoilPlateEmbossing, SlimlineCards, ValentineCards, ValentineDiecuts, HeartDiecuts, DiecutGreetings, EmbossedCards, DistressOxides, CardmakingTechniques, ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Cut the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper with the largest Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out.  Lightly spritz both sides of the heart 4 times - from about 12" away.  Let the paper absorb the water for about 30 seconds then place the smoother side of the heart onto the Blissful Heart Foil Plate and pressure-emboss it. Use the rubber embossing mat and plates required for your machine.

Place the embossed heart on a smooth, hard surface and use a brayer or the direct-to-paper technique to ink the entire design with picked raspberry Distress Oxides.  Quickly heat-emboss it with Imagine's Iridescent Embossing Powder for a sparkly, glittery, glossy look.

Use a blending brush or sponge dauber to ink the edges of the heart with picked raspberry.  Sprinkle the embossing powder along the edges and heat-emboss it.

Cut the "love" portion of the Sending Love Daily Script from dark gray and bright pink cardstock - save the little pieces in the "ove."  Attach the greeting to the Blissful Heart with a liquid adhesive - I used the original Tacky Glue.

Cut bright pink cardstock with the 1-⅛" x 6-¼" Slim Basic Rectangle Layers die. Cut two strips of the silver 6x6 in the Delicate Pastel Mirror Pad with the smallest slim rectangle die.

Attach the diecuts to a card of Creme Woodgrain cardstock (3-⅝" x 8-½") - use foamdots for the heart.  Add the lightest Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones.  Cut a slimline-sized rectangle of cardstock to protect the card front for mailing.

Thanks for visiting - see you again on Sunday...

Glittery Thanks
by Laura Fulcher

IMG_3961

Greetings friends. I am once again using the new Valentine dies for holiday cards. I don't know about you, but I have to make a ton of thank you cards this time of year. It might be a bit presumptuous of me, but I think I will need Christmas and birthday thank you card really soon.

To make the card, I first made my own floral textured background with one of Memory Box's wonderful 3-D embossing folders. You really do get a lot of depth and dimension. One thing to remember before running your paper and folder through your die cutting machine is to lightly mist your paper or wipe it down gently with a baby wipe so that the pattern doesn't crack in the embossing folder. The 3-D embossing folders have a lot of detail, but they put a lot of pressure on the fibers of your paper. Pre-wetting the cardstock with water will really help with that.

Next, I cut out my heart outline and inside of the hearts with glitter paper. It might be the holidays, but I really have been enjoying sparkle and bling right now.

To finish the card, I added my sentiment in grey Versafine ink as well as a few clear rhinestones. Here is a close up:

Luxe Peony Friendship Card by Jean Okimoto

P1021668

Let's combine the new Luxe Peony with a matching Garland Paper Pad 6x6 print on a floral friendship card for someone who loves flowers.  Hi, Jean Okimoto  here with a detailed design that's deceptively simple.

Cut the Garland 6x6 print with the largest Wrapped Stitched Rectangle die.  Attach it to a side-folded white A2 card.  Your background is done!

Blend Distress Oxides on the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper.  Colors used here are abandoned coral, picked raspberry and worn lipstick.  Spritz the paper with a light mist of water.  Air-dry it.  Spray it lightly with Imagine's Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz -  from about 12" away.  Air-dry it for a few minutes, then heat-set it.

P1021674 2

Cut it with the Luxe Peony set.  You can cut two peony sets from a sheet of Open Studio Watercolor Paper - save the extra pieces for another project.

We're borrowing the round dotted center from the Layered Fresh Flowers set.  It's cut from a yellow 6x6 in the Sunny Orange Collection.

Assemble the Luxe Peony - layering it over the picture on the die's envelope makes it quick and easy.  Or design a your own unique blossom!  Add the yellow center from the Layered Fresh Flowers set.

The Luxe Peony is self-layering - you don't need foam tape to add dimension. The layers  build their own natural dimension as they're adhered...no thinking required!

Cut the leaves - from the Luxe Peony set - from a Fresh Greens Collection 6x6.

Cut the new For You Post Script from a lighter Fresh Greens 6x6 - and from a scrap of the Garland 6x6 for a perfect match.

P1021683

Attach the diecuts to the background.  Add light gold Treasure Chest Fairy Gemstones.  Cut an A2-sized rectangle of cardtock to protect the card front for mailing.

Special thanks to everyone who ordered my Winter Whites Class Kit from Impress here in Seattle and from Roxanne in Hawaii!

Thanks for visiting our blog - see you again on Friday.  Be safe and keep warm if you're in snow country - keep cool if you're in sunny Hawaii!

Blissful Heart Hot Foil Plate - Positive & Negative
by Angie Cimbalo

Hello, it's Angie here today with 2 fun cards for Valentine's Day using hot foiling!  It's quite early to be working on these but I need to work ahead as February is one of my busiest months helping out at school music programs!

For the first card I used the new "Blissful Heart" hot foil plate just released this year with some gold foil on light pink glitter paper from the "Pastel Glitter" paper pad.  I love the way it turned out, and the fun part was being able to use the negative left over piece on my second card that you will see below.

For this first card I also cut the foiled heart with the "Double Stitch Loving Heart Cut Out" (94359) largest die in the set.  I added the heart to the white card base and then added the sentiment "Sending Love Daily Script" 94661.  I used gold mirror cardsoick from the "Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad" (FP1003) for the outline on top of white card stock.  Here's a real close up look at the heart details:

I really love how this card turned out, it's clean and simple but has lots of intricate detail on the heart.
Here's one last look:

Now let's look at what I did with the left over "negative" piece of hot foil I had:

The leftover piece was so pretty, I decided to use it in a 2nd card by attaching it to a piece of vellum, then covering it with the leftover glitter card panel that I'd cut the pink heart from.  Below you can see I turned the thin piece of leftover hot foil over, and added double sided adhesive to it so I could stick the vellum to it.  This way when you look through the gold foil openings, you will see a soft glow of the vellum.

It looks horribly messy but the messy parts will be covered by the large light pink glitter panel.

Now below you can see I turned it over and the adhesive I'd added stuck right down on the vellum square I'd cut.  Again it looks really bad, you can even see a strip of missing gold where a piece of double sided tape with a mind of it's own, stuck to my finger and ripped all the gold off!  It doesn't matter as long as the heart portion looks good, because you will cover all the ugly part with the glitter panel.

So now, I added the glitter panel (with the heart opening - I used that heart for the first card!) As you can see, all the ugly parts are hidden and all you see is that beautiful design of gold and vellum inside the heart opening!  It is all placed on a white card base.

I used the same sentiment die, gold on top of white card and put it right on the heart.  Here's one last look at my second card:

I love it when you can make two cards like this by using the leftovers from one card!  I hope you will take a look at all the wonderful Valentine's Day products available from Memory Box HERE!

Thanks for stopping by!
